  1. Even after all these stories people still want government involved in healthcare. I have been dealing with the VA system for near 25 years. Anyone that wants to consider government health Care should come along with me to my Dr visits. They would run screaming they have changed their minds

  2. And, that should be a criminal offense.

  3. I live here, if we can get another criminal out of Lincoln Homes I'm all for it. That snitches crap is BS, that's why so many punks never see the inside of a cell.

  4. I agree that it's frustrating when folks don't close their ads. Most regular users extend that courtesy. I find it frustrating as well when folks edit and erase all data pertaining to a sale for just the reason you mentioned Mac. It's nice to see what the current TGO market is running. I do appreciate TGO not expiring the ads.

  5. No, I am a PA in Orthopaedics. I treat many foot problems. Shoes are taken for granted. It is all about structure and support, not brand. They all make crappy shoes, and some do make some very good shoes. And they wear out. If you wear them daily they may need to be replaced every 6 months. Most mfg care about fashion/ looks....got to be concerned about function.

  6. I can't speak to the 1400 series, but as I'm an RN and spend 12-14 busy hours each day constantly on my feet, I have worn out just about every brad I;ve ever tried within a 6 month period. About a year ago my feet got so painful I finally broke down and went to see an Orthopedic surgeon (podiatrist) that works at our facility. After several xrays and a sit-down talk, he said I could either have surgery on my feet (arthritic bone changes) or I could purchase some quality properly made shoes. Hummm... he fired up Google in his office and printed off the name and number of the shoes he recommended. I thought...shoes? Seriously? How could a new shoe make that much difference? But I know him and trust him. So I looked at Zappo's since they will let you return an item within the year for free. They worked. I mean these darn shoes actually made my life better. I just finished 2 13 hr shifts...we had 34 ambulances plus walkins just yesterday and my feet are still quite happy! The shoes are Hoka Gaviota's. They cost twice as much as I have ever paid for work shoes, but are worth every penny of the asking price imho. I even purchased a second pair for everyday use. Several of my peers have (since seeing me go from painfully hobbling to running my butt off efficiently) have now purchased them and share the same opinion. They are awesome. Nurses, like the infantry, live on their feet..so we gotta take care of 'em. These may seem like the cost is steep...but the true value is apparent, at least to me. Just my ever devaluing $0.02 worth. https://www.zappos.com/p/hoka-one-one-gaviota-black-formula-one/product/8804082/color/22027

  7. Just picked one up on auction this week. Used, in the box, but looks like it has never been fired. Anything I need to know about them? Best place to get an extra mag for it? I already I figure it's not going to be a fun gun at the range. Any thoughts on a concealed carry belt holster for one? I've been pocket carrying a Keltec P32 and the holster for it, fits the LCP. They are virtually the same pistol, but the LCP is a little beefer and has a better quality finish. But it only cost me $27 more.

  8. Sounds like she is using the way she is running her mouth. I'd be limiting my contact with her because it sounds to me like the fuse is already lit and could go off anytime.

  9. Doug, get you a pair of Army combat boots. They have a proven track record. They come in two sizes, too big & too small. Plus, they're guaranteed not to slip, crack or peel, run down at the heel, or smell bad in wet weather. Well........maybe not.

  10. Really? If you feel the need to report something, report it to local law enforcement.

  11. People want government involved in healthcare because between the industry and insurance companies it is an unaffordable, unsustainable system. Unfortuntatly, the government can’t do anything worthwhile to control he madness without making it worse.

  12. The "Ad closed" is a great tool to show your item is no longer for sale, and to help other members from needlessly clicking on items that interest them, that are not really for sale anymore. We regular members do a good job on editing after a sale, but seems a lot of the new members keep it active (green banner) even after the item is sold. Could there be a note banner posted over the classifieds asking members to update their ads? Or some way to get the message across? Thanks.

  13. New Balance are great shoes. They are the only brand I wear anymore.

  14. Apparently, firing incompetent people at the VA is hard stuff. Took Trump to get it done. I actually have a dog in that fight. They made my dad's death a whole lot worse than it needed to be.

  15. They're a small business - and you have to know going in that you're likely to pay close to MSRP for a pair of shoes. That's not what a lot of folks are used to who usually walk into Academy and buy whatever is on sale. Of course, that's why their feet hurt, too. I wear a set of orthopedic inserts in my running shoes, and for me just the fact that they opened up every brand in the store and let me try them until we got the right fit was valuable.

  16. That actually looks pretty good. Very interesting. Now...if I can combine the Suarez folder with this....That would be really interesting and fun!

  17. Larry, if there's a Fleet Feet near you, it would probably be worth your time to go visit. The folks at the one down by me in Brentwood are really great at getting people into a shoe that fits their need/stride/mechanics. I know a bunch of casual runners with injuries that swear by them.

  19. I'm a big guy and very hard on shoes. Recently recovered from a fall down a flight of steps where I tore everything in my left foot. Physical therapist told me to go to a good shoe store that deals with runners. Guy at the store was fantastic and I ended up with Brooks Beasts. Best shoe I've had in years. Not cheap but as prag stated worth every penny.

  21. I’ve got a friend who is sponsored by Sketchers. She loves them and races in them. But, trying them on and maybe getting someone who knows what they’re doing to analyze your gait matters. For me, it’s a Saucony neutral shoe. Nike’s wear my feet out. HiPower, you might check out a pair of Hoka’s. They’ve got a few pairs similar to the ones you described.

  22. As I recommend shoes professionally, brand is generally not a good guideline. How the shoe is constructed is important. Generally a slip-on shoe is not going to be a quality built shoe that is supportive to the foot. If you buy from a knowledgeable outlet, ask for a 'motion-control' shoe. An example would be a 1400 series New Balance. Seldom have I seen a quality Sketcher shoe. As a general rule, people that are on their feet a lot, nurses, cashiers, hair dressers, need a quality shoe. Crocs, flipflops, sandals, chuck taylors, are examples of poor, non-supportive shoes.

  23. I actually owe Blackburn one. Back when my wife got too sick to work, she was having fits trying to file for Social Security Disability. The system is actually set up to frustrate you to the point of giving up. Filling out the same forms over and over again. And then they lose your file! She called Blackburn's office and explained the situation to a nice young man there who said they would look into it. 30 minutes later the SS office called my wife. They had miraculously found her file and from that point on her disability claim was processed without any further problems. Blackburn may not be the greatest legislator in Washington, but she does care about her constituents. BTW: one of the problems we face is that too many conservative people have given up on the system and don't vote. Liberals not only vote, they bus people to the polls. This is how we lose. Your vote does matter! USE IT!

  24. If it's possible, consider renting a place for a year before buying a home, to see if you really like an area (easier than moving!) When we were looking to move down here, we visited several times, and even put an offer in on one place (never worked out). Glad it didn't, as we ended up on the other side of town. We have now purchased land and are building a house, but 45 minutes away from where we first started shopping. Now that we've been here 3 years, I'm glad it worked out the way it did.

  26. I feel your pain, don't know how many guns I bought before I got my permit. First one I tried to buy after getting my permit was denied, filled out the appeal and was called three days later saying it had been approved. Bought a couple more no problem, then just out of the blue I want a 22 revolver, denied. Filed the appeal, a couple of days later get the call saying good to go. This has happened to me about three different times, but has always been overturned within a couple of days. It is aggravating for sure. That is one reason that I wish TN was like some of the other states, where if you have a carry permit, you don't have to do the background check when you purchase a new weapon.
