  1. There's already evidence that shelter in place may be working in New York City. They've gone from hospitalizations doubling every 2 days to hospitalizations doubling every 4.7 days in less than a week. We're still a long way from the peak there - but that's good news no matter how you look at it.

  2. I'd say more likely than possible. They're already upset their perfect government society is being shown as overwhelmed in handling this as all the rest of us. They're in full damage control mode to save face.

  3. I’d also be looking into an LLC and a gigantic liability insurance policy, along with the price of business licenses and taxes.

  4. I thought the same as I watched everyone go OOS. it was a WTH moment. Maybe more so on the TP. The reason it strikes us so odd, is I doubt folks here tend to be the ones that get drawn into mass hysteria or panics. But there is one group it made sense for that I would not lump in with the crazies. It has proven both smart and legitimate. High volume shooters of rounds they choose not to reload. Buying as a hedge for forward looking price protection. Those who recognized the level of hysteria right away and did not underestimate human nature. If we were thinking the above (I did), we underestimated both. And their rational isn't one of panic hoarding or reselling, but managing finances around their hobby over a period of time. For example, just saw SG, who I am sure most of us love, is asking $250 for 1k rounds of 9mm Blazer brass that just a couple weeks ago they were getting $160 or $170. Midway just put up a bunch of Winchester 5.56 at a similar premium. How smart a hedge will end up being based how quick the volume recovery is. While the ammo manufacturers said they are adding production, I doubt it will be sustained to create the level of glut based on their recent lumps and leanings from the post Sandy hook glut and manage volumes a bit more this time. Not to mention we dont have the anti-gun threats of that time frame that kept buying pressure up.

  7. Chill. Nothing is moving quickly because everyone is as jiggy as you are. None of us can begin to guess how the system will work right now. You would be better off in gathering 30 to 60 days of items so you could shelter in place. Just my .02.

  11. Many people turn hobbies into businesses. If they didn’t we wouldn’t have very many small businesses these days. There is going to be a whole lot more involved in “manufacturing” than just scoring the appropriate FFL. Think capital and the previously mentioned liability.

  13. I said from the beginning, it won't take too many truck drivers being pulled off the road for medical reasons to feel the pinch. They enjoy a bit of isolation in their jobs, but by design, have to interact with a lot of folks in different areas. It's also a good coincidence that gas prices are keeping low enough to let the industry have some relief on that fixed cost for a bit during this crisis.

  14. Maybe not, but the .308, just like in the ammo world, far surpasses anything else up there.

  15. https://www.tn.gov/safety/tdoshscovid19.html As of yesterday DL facilities were still processing handgun permits. I would assume that means the office that they go to is still working; but you know what happens when you assume. “The requirement that new Tennessee residents obtaining a Tennessee driver license within 30 days of becoming a resident has been extended to June 17, 2020” No extensions on that requirement are posted for handgun permits. I don’t know if that’s because they haven’t addressed it yet, or if they will. You can have a gun in your car without a permit. So its anyone’s guess if it became an issue out of your car. As a former cop I would say that would depend on how and why the gun became an issue.

  20. In your home? You might want to check your local ordinances first. Both for a business and with the obvious regulations and precautions for explosives. That ended my pursuit right there for an 01 FFL. The city of Murfreesboro does not allow an FFL in a residence. Therefore, the BATF won’t issue one. I would think your product liability insurance for an 06 FFL would be pretty high, but that’s just a guess.

  21. No, I think you're absolutely correct. Look at NY City, simply population density has caused major spread. Total cases are 20,000 with total deaths 208, thats 1.4%. The major differences mainly being age distribution of population and overall health. Italy has some top notch hospitals but the age distribution being skewed to the elderly overwhelmed their capabilities. If we can continue to limit the spread and increase hospital capacity we will have managed this better than anyone expected

  23. No, that would just be another typical flu season. I'll give you this though, these numbers are on top of the flu numbers, so yea many deaths. Only time will tell, but once this is over, like H1N1, these deaths will be lost in memory next year. I mean, I lived through the whole H1N1 timeframe and can't recall all those deaths, how can I forget that over 12,000 people died that year...oh yea, it wasn't repeated on every news, radio, and print 24/7.

  26. I was just wondering if anyone knows if the TN Department of Safety & Homeland Security will still be processing concealed handgun licenses and if there will be any delays with the Covid-19 outbreak. I've been meaning to get my CHL earlier, as I completed the 8 hour class and got my certificate. But, the lines at the DMV could be over 6 hours and I just was too busy to spend all day waiting at the DMV. Well, after the outbreak, I decided to go to my local DMV in Lebanon last week and finally was able to apply for my permit and only had to wait 30 minutes. Hahah, yeah, sad it took a global pandemic to make the DMV more accessible for me. I then was able to get into fingerprinting literally right after DMV , because the place I had my appointment scheduled moved me in earlier in case they close due to the pandemic. Well, it has been about a week now and I checked the online status and they definitely have the application, but says the background check is still pending and so is the application review. So, does anyone have any idea if I will ever see my permit? I really regret I didn't get it sooner. I also have 3 other CHLs from other states that are valid, so I did have a leniency period that probably is passed now. I wonder due to the emergency and new laws of 2020 if my out of state permits may be recognized now? Anyhow, just would really love to get my TN CHL finally and wondering if anyone has any inside knowledge about the situation with TN CHLs now? I have heard other less liberated states have shut down all 2nd Amendment related operations, such as gun stores, processing concealed handgun permits, etc. I am hoping TN will come through for its citizens in a crucial time like this.

  27. As an old friend taught me a long time ago, “all models are wrong, but some models are useful.” We've still got a lot of unknowns here - and they’ll likely not be known until we’ll after this current crisis is done.

  35. Well we knew that was coming regardless. Tell people to stay home, total calamity is reduce, people say "see it wasn't that big of a deal". Its the same concept. News outlets only get to be "right" so rarely they're gonna shout from the rooftops when they get the chance

  36. I would post the same question in the Multigun section on enos. I used to 3-gun with a 16" M4 profile barrel out to 300 yards and never noticed a heat issue, but I would be nervous about building a pencil-barrel gamer gun without first talking to some experienced 3-gunners who have done it.

  37. I love shotguns Brother..! But shotguns is pretty much shotguns... Flavors, colors, n shapes may vary; but they are all pretty much the same... I'm a confirmed " riot gun " junkie, and keep one by the bed... Browning BPS... Havin said all that, i do like the current crop of " baby shotguns " with pistola grips... Would like a 20 gage for truck use... Im thinkin the " ultimate riot gun " is a semiauto of any flavor; but barrel length seems ta give em problems... Evidently 20 inch bbls are the ragged edge for the most of em for reliability n non destruction from hammering parts.. I like the 18 inch or less models, n think 14 is the ultimate, but Uncle Sam dont like em... Would like ta try a Mossberg... The fancy 3 gun semis are just too high priced for my stingy tastes... Besides, ive got a Browning A500 recoil operated model with a 22 inch slug barrel that works well n looks great... Im pretty much ready to repel boarders at the ole homestead... " Riot Gun " leroy... The Browning man...

  42. It’s first time buyers that are flooding the shops. Most of the guntubers I follow have been releasing videos for new gun owners over the last few days. On that front, be a good face for us, y’all. Reach out to help and educate the new folks. There’s a lot of folks out there who were anti-gun, or at least ambivalent who just learned that nobody is coming to save them. Now is the time to help them become cognizant of how to be a responsible and safe gun owner and bring them over to our side regarding gun rights. Stay non-partisan when teaching and even when explaining the threats to their gun rights. We want to bring them over to our side, not chase them back with even more commitment than before.

  44. As my usual custom of drinking my morning coffee and perusing the news, I looked out my window and noticed this. There were blue birds, blue jays, wrens, cardinals and squirrels and they had no clue nor were they concerned that there is a world wide pandemic. As the whole world is in turmoil among humans, the animal world is continuing on, never for a moment missing a meal. So I though this verse from the Bible was in order. Matthew 6:26 NLT Look at the birds. They don't plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren't you far more valuable to him than they are?
