  1. Look, I am really sick of this crap. Everything we have done lately has been designed to keep TGO available for all of us. Read this story: https://rantingly.com/godaddy-cancels-ar15-com/ This could easily happen to us. I am working NOW to set up a contingency plan. If you can't work with us on this, then get the hell off of TGO and go somewhere else. I can't fight THEM and fight you guys here.

  2. I'll post this link but there are hundreds of other sites you can find it from. Go search it for yourself and pick your poison. https://www.wtxl.com/news/national-news/fbi-armed-protests-planned-at-all-50-state-capitals-u-s-capitol If I were you, I would think twice or more before participating in any of these things. At best it is a fundamentally bad idea with horrible timing and terrible Public Relations optics being promoted by overzealous but genuine lovers of freedom. At worst it is a giant PsyOp being spurred on by people who want to decimate the Second Amendment. Either way, it is going to be used to paint gun owners as a threat to civilized society the moment ANY of it goes wrong in ANY state. All it is going to take is for one armed group to clash with the police or National Guard or for a report that an innocent was harmed by an armed protestor, and it will be used to ramrod unconstitutional gun restrictions through the Legislature at lightning speed and with the backing of a frightened public. Let's be honest about an inconvenient truth: Guns scare people who don't own them and don't use them. Hard stop. Accept it. I have spoken numerous times here and on the Shooters Nation Podcast about the need to be good evangelists of the Second Amendment by making gun ownership normal and less scary to people on the fence about it. I have told anyone who would listen that a gun is not a public relations tool, and that open carry -- especially at protests and rallies -- does nothing but further polarize an already scared and skeptical voter base against the cause. Regardless of how many times I scream it from the rooftops, there are always the loud voices inside the gun community who want to holler about "MUH RIGHTS!" or "YoU AReNt A TrUE PaTRIoT ArE YoU, YoU PuSSY?!" and who want to shout me off the stage and tell me to go to hell for insinuating that God, Jesus and Moses don't really want them carrying their AR15 to picket a government building or elementary school. Well, allow me to scream it from the rooftop one more time: If you were thinking about going to one of those events, for the sake of everyone else if not for your own safety, stay the F home. Don't scare the sheep. Don't give the salivating media the photo-op that they are this very moment sitting at their desks with enormous boners hoping you'll give them. Don't freak out your neighbors. Don't give the rest of us a bad name. Don't put yourself on some [other] government watch list. Don't be a useful idiot playing into the hands of people who want to destroy the 2A! If you want to do an ill-advised armed protest, do it a few months from now. Don't do it this month. Don't do it on Inauguration Day. Don't be a dick. This has been my TED Talk.

  3. Add TGOBACKUP.COM to your Internet bookmarks immediately. If we lose our domain registration with GoDaddy as part of the ongoing assault against Free Speech, we will re-home to the domain name TGOBACKUP.COM as quickly as possible. Today, 11-JANUARY-2021, GoDaddy de-platformed AR15.com by cutting off their DNS registration. You can read more about that here: https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/the-deplatforming-continues-godaddy-boots-ar15-com/ The new TGOBACKUP.COM domain is not active presently. It will go live if we get cancelled by GoDaddy.

  4. I'm locking this thread for now. It's not because I don't think that the new administration/congress will be anti-gun. It's because there's nothing but Facebook fear mongering in the posts above. The "13 page app" that was posted was the ATF Form 1 application to make a firearm. Post the text of a bill from the current Congress. Even the text of the platform of the incoming administration. But do some research - we have to do better with actual facts.

  5. In the last 5 minutes I joined the TFA, GOA, and FPC that Elliot mentioned. I'm not giving the NRA another dime until I see changes. I hope the bastards in Washington like me putting my $600 check to good use. I know everyone else here got a check so now I'll ask, who's next?

  6. I'm not sure it matters. What matters is what the staff decides. If there is one thing I've learned after being here 11 years it's that TGO is not a Democracy. I hated David's decision to shut down politics but I'm going to respect his decision like he asked. I think what they are trying to avoid now is misinformation or speculation which is exactly what was in the thread that MacGyver locked earlier. The next 2-4 years are going to be full of people constantly speculating and worrying about pending gun control. We've been down this path before. If folks are going to start a thread I don't think asking them to list a source is really that crazy of a request. I wish this was still true. I really do.

  7. I should have also added to the above, there *is* a new administration about to start - and all the tech companies are going to bend over backwards without any prompting to look like they're playing nice for a while to avoid regulation.

  8. There are probably two ways to think about them: 1. It looks like they've gotten a few hundred thousand overall downloads. That's not quite to the point where they need to think about scale like Facebook - but it's quickly approaching where they need an actual business model that lets them make money. To my knowledge they haven't received VC funding, so that cliff is going to come sooner rather than later. Especially now that downloads seem to be slowing - it'll be hard to fundraise if your subscribers aren't going "up and to the right." 2. Probably more relevant right now in that people are looking for a place to go since Parler shut down is the conversation that practically every corporate attorney in America is having today. That is, how do you define "providing material support" to an insurrection? That's what has caused Apple, Google, and Amazon to remove Parler. It's what's caused 14 of the biggest tech companies on the planet to deplatform the most powerful man in the world. It's what's caused companies like DOW and Ford to immediately suspend all donations to members of Congress who supported overturning the results of AZ, GA, and PA - https://www.freep.com/story/money/cars/ford/2021/01/11/ford-dow-suspend-political-donations-capitol-riot/6623557002/ It's what caused Cumulus Media to tell hosts like Mark Levin, Ben Shapiro, and Dan Bongino to stop talking about the election being stolen at risk of having their contracts terminated: https://www.ajc.com/life/radiotvtalk-blog/cumulus-media-tells-its-conservative-talk-show-hosts-to-stop-talking-about-a-stolen-election/PE2VM6SQKBFBZBULQTFZLQUV7A/ Y'all can form your own opinion on whether you think this is justified or not - but I expect you'll see more examples in coming days. This is just to give an idea of the conversations management teams are having with counsel behind the scenes.

  9. Is this a forum or a news outlet? These forums are about opinions. Sure, great if there is some additional backup, but that has never been a requirement nor should it be. People can decide for themselves what is pertinent. We don’t need others telling us what we should believe are facts or not.

  10. Rules Addendum: 2A Legislation and Politics Forum By now you should have read the general TGO Rules and Guidelines as part of the process to join TGO or perhaps because we reference them in quite a few places. I will point to two things within them, and make an additional statement about how we expect the 2A Legislation and Politics sub-forum to be handled. From the TGO Rules and Guidelines: Rule #1: Maintain good fellowship. There will be times that you do not agree with someone else, and times when no one else agrees with you. No matter what the case may be, you are expected to handle differences and disagreements with maturity and tact. Handled responsibly, debates are welcomed and even encouraged, however, name calling, slurs, flame posts, and other insulting remarks meant to cause conflict are not allowed. You don't have to agree, but you do have to try to get along. If someone is being abusive, report it to the TGO Staff. Rule #2: Do not engage in or promote illegal, unethical or threatening activities. You may not use this website to promote illegal, unethical, threatening or seditious activities, including but not limited to intentionally sharing private, semi-private or identifying information about people with malicious intent (aka "doxxing"), cyber bullying, fomenting sedition or calling for violent action against lawful government institutions, their employees, or elected representatives. You should carefully consider that what you say here today could haunt you elsewhere tomorrow. The Internet provides an almost indelible record of everything said or done on websites such as this and there are many eyes upon us. The fact that those are the first two rules is not by coincidence. They are the two most important things a member of TGO can do to help us keep this place civil, welcoming and in good standing with the community of gun owners at large and certainly with our own respective physical communities. The best way I can sum up those two rules is "Don't be a jerk and don't act like a criminal". Most of us probably heard some variation of that from the adults in our lives while we were growing up, so it should be old hat by now. Beyond those two things, I want to just make another simple appeal: Don't ruin this. There will be zero tolerance for anyone who can't handle mature conversations in the 2A Legislation and Politics sub-forum. This is the only place left on TGO where we care to have political matters discussed. We have forbidden politics anywhere else within this community because of how divisive and emotional it always becomes. But we aren't ignorant of the fact that politics and law are significant components of the world of firearms. It would be nice to believe that one day our country will stop trying to tear apart what the Founding Fathers codified in the Constitution and Bill of Rights, but until that happens the matter of the right of the people to keep and bear arms will be a point of political focus. It is imperative that we are aware of this and stay engaged with elected representatives to preserve the Second Amendment. We won't be getting rid of this sub-forum just because a person can't handle the topics responsibly. We also will not be responding favorably, as moderators or members, when abuses occur. Be nice, follow the rules, or you will be shown to the door. Thanks.

It's going to take some big dogs in this fight so a bunch of us little dogs need to pony up. Do I agree with everything each organization does, no, but we will not do it alone.

  16. I never have understood the whole social media thing. Aside from a couple of gun forums like this one, I don't do social media at all. I don't face. twit, or anything else. What info I do put on the internet about myself I'm very selective about. It seems that the people in this country, especially the young folks, are so insecure about themselves that they feel the need to put their entire life on the internet and seek validation from total strangers. How sad is that? And what does it say about the state of our nation? I prefer to be the Gray Man. Just easing through life un-noticed, minding my own business and attracting very little attention at all. I'm much happier that way.

  17. So, I'm guessing there is NO safe social media outlet where folks can have an opposing view to the left? I'm starting to be reminded of the 1930's in Germany.

  18. United We Stand. Divided We Fall. From this point forward, non Second Amendment political and legislative discussions are no longer welcome on TGO. Longtime members of TGO may now roll their eyes and mutter, "Not this crap again. We've been here before." Rightly so. We have attempted several times to allow our members to discuss general politics in a mature manner. We have begged, pleaded, threatened and banned in the effort of making it work. It never does. It always falls apart. There is barely such a thing as polite and respectful political discourse in mixed company even when you limit it to talking about firearms and the right to bear them. Thankfully that is what TGO is about. The right to bear arms. We are staunch supporters of the Second Amendment. We are also not ignorant to the fact that we must educate and inform each other when it comes to politics and those political creatures we mentioned previously. We cannot put our heads in the sand. We discuss these things as a matter of necessity - not because we find it enjoyable. But that is where we now draw the line. From now on, if it isn't about politics or legislation that directly affects the Second Amendment, take it somewhere else. We don't need the division here. It is almost cyclical, but the next four years look bleak for gun owners. We are going to have to be more united than ever. We have to find our common ground and stand together atop it. We cannot waver and we must remind ourselves that no matter our differences we are still Americans and, hopefully, we are proponents and defenders of the Second Amendment. We hope you understand. If you don't and you disagree, we hope you'll at least respect the decision. And if you can't do that, we hope you'll find a new place to talk about politics and guns and whatever else. Because it won't be here. I'm done with it and I care about you all and about our freedoms too much to suffer another moment of division and bickering about anything more consequential than your favorite sportsball team. United We Stand. Divided We Fall. God Save The Republic.

  19. So, i'm a pig hunter. Rabidly so, in fact. I prefer hunting hogs to just about anything else on the planet. I've hunted them in 8 states & on 3 continents. But tonight I did something I never ever thought i'd manage. I. Shot. A. MONSTER! I have to add, this was completely free range. No lodge, no fences, no pay-to-play & it was here in middle TN.... just a straight up hand to God feral hog. I've seen big pigs before. The kind of hogs that really get your blood pumping, but in 12 years & probably thousands of hours of hunt time I've never, ever seen a pig like this. 12 FOOT, running neck shot with my .300blk.

  21. We as responsible and law abiding gun owners need to stay above this. We accomplish nothing by acting out. We will give the anti-gunners all the reason in the world to paint us as bloodthirsty gun nuts hell bent on terrorizing our fellow citizens and furthering their resolve to strip us of out 2A rights. We have everything to lose and nothing to gain.

  28. I don't think it's too much to ask for folks to cite what they're starting a conversation over if it's about some proposed legislation or executive action. It's a waste of time when we get into, "I was reading" or " a friend told me", when there isn't anything substantive to back it up.

  29. I spoke a little bit earlier about Parler having no meaningful information security protections in place. It gets worse (better?) It seems that their lack of forward planning is now having the entire site mined of data - and that even when users deleted stuff - they didn't actually get rid of it. So, now you have users who uploaded their actual drivers license being added to no fly lists in realtime. We've had questions about who's behind Parler for months now. I mean, their founder went to Russia, met a girl, got married in a government facility, and came back and developed the app with no apparent source of funding other than Dan Bongino (who doesn't have anywhere close to the funding it would take to scale something like this.) I want to say this clearly to anyone here who might have uploaded their license data to be a "verified citizen." Make sure you've invested in good identity theft protection from a provider who knows what they're doing. You're likely to need it in the coming months. Forget the fact that you uploaded your ID to a foreign intelligence service. Since all of this data is about to be publicly available - there are going to be plenty of folks who will be quite willing to misuse that data to purchase cars, open credit accounts, traffic in stolen goods...you get the idea.

  30. Actually there is a lot of factual error, but its inter-dispersed with other opinions rooted in some factual basis for him give to give it the appearance of not being complete left rhetoric . Its the lefts argument against the extreme rights take. He IS hardcore left guy, using partial facts as smoke and mirrors to get guys to say, hey he’s sounds like he has a lot of info and facts do thru dont question the BS opinion. I saw a number of non facts or lies to support his Position, that non gun people wouldn’t know better. I assumed Gun folks would, but maybe not. Off the top of my head, I’ll pick two. 1. Gun nuts buy 6920 Colts since you can drop in an auto sear. Complete BS. The pocket is not machine for a mil spec auto sear, and the web prevents a DIAS. 2. the CA AK based mass shooter would have been stopped because you can’t buy an AK47 variant in CA. Complete BS. You can get them all day long provided you make it featureless. Its really unfortunate that this can’t be seen thru more easily, worse that he has a platform. But sadly, he is high functioning and most of the voting public isn’t. Easy pickin’s

  31. Friends, If you've read the TGO Rules and Guidelines like we hope that you have, you may recall that it begins with the statement that we believe that the majority of the members of this community are mature and self-guiding and that the majority what we ask of our community as far as "code of conduct" goes is really just common sense. We mean that. We really believe that you all are good people and that you don't need us or anyone else telling you how to treat one another or what is right and what is wrong. Despite that, I hope that you will indulge me and the rest of the Staff and tolerate us just for a moment while I remind everyone that TGO strives hard to be a place where law-abiding citizens can gather to discuss participation in, enjoyment of, preservation of, and advocacy for the Second Amendment and all that it entails. We have always asked our members to hold themselves to a higher standard than the general public, as ambassadors of the Second Amendment. We have updated our rules to reflect our continued commitment to being good citizens and good stewards of- and representatives of the Second Amendment. You can find the rules and terms by clicking the link at the bottom of each page of TGO, or by visiting the following location directly. https://www.tngunowners.com/forums/guidelines

  32. No, there's plenty of idiots who just can't resist the urge to dress up in their camo and armor, carry their AR decked out with every known accoutrement and attachment, and parade around trying to draw as much attention to themselves as possible. Unfortunately, there will always be a number of nutcases mixed in with the normal bunch of over-dressed Weight Watchers dropouts who are itching to begin WWIII and who will look for every avenue to kick off the festivities themselves. David is absolutely correct, this is a time to stay at home, keep a low profile, and not give the nutjobs and antis any more ammunition against gun owners and enthusiasts ...

  39. By participating in these forums, we agree to abide by the rules set forth. That is That. On the subject of backing up what someone said they heard, I do agree it is up to the reader to do the research. SOMETIMES rumors are the only truth you will hear before a law is on the books. I thought that is what the 2A forum was for, so we could stay abreast of what others heard. We certainly cannot trust any single source any more, the more input the better. Just remember we are all in this together and maintain decorum. Don't insult your comrades in battle, they are watching your back. If they err, be nice and try to lead them to see it for themselves. If you can't do that, just let it go as you would with any good friend.
