I spent all weekend, Thursday afternoon thru Sunday morning hunting some of the most pristine,beautiful, well managed & maintained hunting property in Bledsoe Co. The owner (a very good friend) has a a spectacularly well managed herd, very selectively harvested. I sat dark-dark Friday & Saturday, plus Thursday afternoon 1-5 & Sunday 5-11. Didn't see a Gee Dee thing. I got back to Tullahoma at 2, yesterday afternoon & figured i had time to put in a quick 90 minutes at a little craphole spot i have permission on. Filed the freezer with a limit of Does in 15 minutes, surrounded by old, burnt out fridges & trash. Go figure!

As hard as it was to watch the UT game, I'm still very impressed at how far the program has improved. It's been a long, long dry spell if you are a Vols fan. This has been a fun season to watch. I hope they continue to improve. If I had known at the beginning of the season they would be a 10-2 or a 9-3 team at the end of the year, I would have gladly approved. Props to Vandy for what they've done too.

A friend of mine killed a couple of hogs this morning. I swung by and helped a bit after physical therapy. Came home with a few lbs of sausage and a slab of back fat. Rendered about 5 pints of lard with the side benefit of fresh cracklin's and pork rinds. Momma says I stunk up the house. Smells delicious to me.

Our newly elected Republican Super Majority House Caucus is doing its Annual Retreat this weekend up at Paris Landing. The Freshman Class will be set upon and told what they can and cannot do by the Old Timers League. No controversial bills first year, sit and listen, be inconspicuous and such, pay no attention to that Constitution, it is just words on a piece of paper. I plan on talking to my Rep. as soon as he is loose, as the agenda for the coming session will be the main focus of conversation. I suggest anyone interested in their Rights as identified with respect to arms do the same as soon as possible. Call your Representative's Nashville office and ask for their cell phone number (if you do not already have it) and a call back to talk about what was discussed at the retreat. It is after all, your business they hold in the palm of their hands...

It seems like that should be good news since Vandy plays them Saturday, but man I hate that! I sure hope he still has a bright future in the NFL. He had one helluva season.

Overall best .357 revolver: Original, pre-1980, Colt Python 4". Best trigger and balance: Pre-lock S&W Model 19 (Tend to get loose with a steady load of heavy .357 use. Under-rated: Colt MKIII Trooper. Not a Python, but pretty darn close! Best currently available new manufacture: Colt Python. Ruger certainly builds a durable revolver. Overweight and triggers are just OK. I won't touch a trigger lock S&W.

UT has made some great strides in improving their team/system in the last two years. That said, they're still not in the elite class of CFB. Sure they beat Florida, so did Vandy, beat Alabama, good win but gave up 49 points. Smoked by Georgia & never showed up in Columbia. Great teams find a way to win, Ohio St., TCU & Michigan showed that yesterday. They're 9-2, great season so far, I hope they continue their quest for excellence. Hope Hooker & others injured recover completely & easily.

As classy as the Security Six is, I have to vote for the 686. This one is a -3 made about 30 years ago.

As my username implies, I'm one of the folks that have fled the state of California to the beautiful tree-filled state of Tennessee. Don't worry. I'm not turning this state purple. This Kahr Arms PM9 was a trusty CCW option for me for years back in the restricted state. The trigger is smooth as butter and it is a reliable and accurate little shooter. Now that I reside in this free state and have easy access to the Sig 365 line, I've found myself not carrying this PM9 anymore. I'm offering it up to others since it may be put to better use by someone else. I believe that my round count on this is under 1,000 rounds with zero malfunctions. Selling two of my milled AK's. Both are Arsenal Ak's. I bought the SLR-95 a year or so back at a gun show from a guy who's claimed to have it since the mid 90's, it is a very smooth running but used machine. I threaded the barrel and added a Griffin Brake to help with recoil and to run it suppressed in the future. The other AK is a Arsenal SAM5, milled in 5.56. I bought this new. Both rifles will come with two magazines, no boxes. Round count on the 7.62 is unknown, the 5.56 is less than 200 rounds of 77 grain. Asking $3,000.00 for the pair OBO. Thanks for looking

OK. Having an online yard sale here. First up is a set of Altamont Super Walnut Checkered Grips. These were on a Ruger Wrangler but the Altamont website says they also fit a Blackhawk, Vaquero ( Not New Vaquero), Single Six, Super Single Six, 4 5/8 inch Super Blackhawk and 5 1/2 inch Super Blackhawk. Like new condition. $25 Next we have two Five Star Aluminum Speed Loaders and 10 rounds of A-Zoom .357 Magnum Snap Caps. Speedloader size is J2. Website says they fit a Ruger LCR and S&W 5 shot J Frames 38 spl or 357 mag. The speedloaders are $22 each on Amazon and the snap caps are $1 each. $20 for the speedloaders and snap caps. Last is a new EGW Arched Serrated Mainspring Housing with all new Brownells Mainspring, Mainspring Plunger and Mainspring Plunger pin installed. Also included is a Brownells recoil spring plug and recoil spring plunger and 8 new Les Baer hex head grip screws. I was collecting Springfield Armory Loaded 1911's for a while and always swapped the flat mainspring housing out for an arched one and changed out the full length guide rod, so I kept a set of the parts around at all times. $35 Located in Lenoir City.

I get trash I have to pick up because of people taking stuff to the dump several miles down the road. Sometimes it's an entire bag. I will always go through it. If I find an address, I unload their garage and everything else I've collected. I don't leave it in the bag though. If it's deer season, they get something extra.

My HVAC friend said as long as I stayed with one of the top 4 or 5 companies I would be happy. Most of the companies have several brands. I bought the complete Carrier 3 ton 18 SEER Infinity Series with furnace. It works as a system with a high tech thermostat that controls everything. 5 Speed heat pump so it only goes as hard as it needs and a variable speed air handler blower that you normally don't even hear running unless it is very hot or very cold. The outdoor unit in a lot quieter than my old 13 SEER one stage unit, on the lower speeds it is about as noise as a 20" box fan, even on the highest stage you can have a conversation while standing next to it. They make an even more efficient unit but for the TN climate, my research didn't look like it would save enough to have a pay back. I asked the salesman and he said the only reason to buy the highest efficient was bragging rights to my friends.

I'm on a Heritage Rough Rider Facebook page. There are people on that page with a dozen+ Rough Riders. One is plenty for me. It's fine for throwing in the truck or on the 4 wheeler and not worrying about it, mine functions fine, but the accuracy leaves something to be desired. I'm not bothering to got any of the black Friday sales where they will be available for $80 out the door. I'd rather have a Ruger or a Smith than 10 Rough Riders, but to each his own.

College football is like that... unless you're Georgia this year. Michigan should have lost, Ohio State didn't have a great game, TCU barely pulled it off..... But I'm sure we can all agree on one thing now: that the Washington Huskies are the most fun team to watch and we should all pull for them to win the Apple Cup next Saturday!!

Pretty much every TN State Senator, with the exception of Frank Nicely, Dawn White, Janice Bowling, Joey Hensley and Kerry Roberts are 2nd Amendment Butters. I had hopes that Sen. Paul Baily was going to join the fold, but the jury is still out on that one. The main reason that we can get nothing done to return the Rights due Tennesseans is the mindset of the Lt. Governor. He thinks the laws on our books now are perfect and sees no need to even discus any changes. We will only move forward if the People light their Senators up demanding a return to the principals of the time of the Founding, as was directed by the Supreme Court in the Bruen decision, from that : "To justify its regulation, the government may not simply posit that the regulation promotes an important interest. Rather, the government must demonstrate that the regulation is consistent with this Nation’s historical tradition of firearm regulation. Only if a firearm regulation is consistent with this Nation’s historical tradition may a court conclude that the individual’s conduct falls outside the Second Amendment’s “unqualified command.” Instead, the government must affirmatively prove that its firearms regulation is part of the historical tradition that delimits the outer bounds of the right to keep and bear arms. We looked to history because “it has always been widely understood that the Second Amendment . . . codified a pre-existing right.” The Amendment “was not intended to lay down a novel principle but rather codified a right inherited from our English ancestors.” Id., at 599 (alterations and internal quotation marks omitted). After surveying English history dating from the late 1600s, along with American colonial views leading up to the founding, we found “no doubt, on the basis of both text and history, that the Second Amendment conferred an individual right to keep and bear arms.” We then canvassed the historical record and found yet further confirmation. That history included the “analogous arms-bearing rights in state constitutions that preceded and immediately followed adoption of the Second Amendment,” id., at 600–601, and “how the Second Amendment was interpreted from immediately after its ratification through the end of the 19th century,” id., at 605. Our State Senators know this, and by their actions to deny you your Rights originally enumerated in the Bill of Rights of the Union Constitution and those in our Tennessee Constitution's Declaration of Rights analog they are in fact guilty of Official Oppression.

Well, I liked the AK-V so much I decided it needed a friend. PSA had a Halloween special so I picked up one of their “American Bastard” AK’s in 7.62x39. Comes with a 12.7” barrel, ALG trigger and a JL Billet Handguard. Running a Burris Fastfire III on it and a Lantac Dragon set up to QD a Dead Air Wolfman. I’ve shot it a few times and it’s excellent. PSA has really come a long way!

Nope. It's no less safe than any of the other striker fired pistols. Probably safer, since it's essentially a DA only gun.

I planted a cover crop of peas for the winter. They're coming up nicely now. I'm curious to see how well this works.

The Smith & Wesson Registered Magnum in double action and the Ruger Blackhawk in single action are the ultimate in .357 Magnum for me. I have a 1956 Ruger but have never been able to afford the Registered Magnum. Actually I can but I wont pay what they bring.

I don't think there is an end all, be all revolver. But I don't think there is a end all, be all semi-auto either. Whatever revolver that feels and shoots the best for you is what you should get. Personally, I find the SP101 too heavy for carry, with only a five shot capacity. True, it's built like a tank, and it may have the fewest working parts, but I would hazard a guess that 99% of us have zero need to every take a revolver apart to work on one. I'm 59 years old and I never have. My first revolver was a S&W Model 13 with a 4" barrel. It was a good accurate revolver. So was Model 10 that was a TDOC trade-in. So was the Ruger GP100 6" in SS and the several SP101s I've owned over the years. Along with the S&W Model 36 and 38. Really loved the little Colt Agent, but I traded it away for Mossberg 590 shotgun. Also had a little S&W Model 32 that was an accurate little snubbie. The last two are the ones I most regret trading away. Right now I have a S&W 442 and a Taurus 627 Tracker. Love both of those and am perfectly happy. But I hazard another guess and will say that both of those are very libel to be traded away on something else, at some point. But I'd be happy with any of those that I listed above.

I'm glad to see somebody moving away from plastic. I'm real interested in the new CSX which is also an aluminum frame. Just haven't had a chance to see one in person yet.

I don’t prefer to open carry in public. I think it can make non-gun owners nervous and could make me a target, if someone was trying to commit a crime oand was smart enough to look around first.

Simply a matter of a good belt and holster.

My favorite carry calibers are .45acp and .38 Special. There's usually some form of 1911 and a revolver with me for range trips. But for a "range" caliber, my favorite will always be .22LR. I'm there to enjoy myself.
