  1. After 3 months of waiting I finally got my mower back. Kawasaki covered the engine under warranty so I have $0 outlay. I just wish the process was faster.

  2. I carry mostly Glocks just because that's what I'm invested in at this point. However, if I were starting from scratch and wanted one do it all gun on a budget I'd probably go with the M&P Compact 2.0 in whatever caliber floats your boat. I would pick 9mm but .40 or 45 will serve well too I imagine. The prices just can't be beat right now on the M&P line for what you get and they have good aftermarket support.

  3. I also recommend starting with a .22. Get the fundamentals down first without recoil causing any bad habits. Cheap to practice with, can be used for self defense if necessary, and just plain fun.

  4. I buy American made when I can; in guns you always can. That may not make a difference to you. The only American made you have in that group is the M&P. I have several of those in various models and calibers. I just bought the new M&P M2.0 Compact 4” in 40S&W. It’s a little smaller than the full size, a little bigger than my 40C, but will use it’s own 13 round mags or the 15 round mags from my full size. I got it from Buds for $334 plus a transfer. They still have it on sale. It makes a great home defense/Car gun, range gun, or carry gun if you are okay with carrying something that big. It’s the most versatile of all the M&P models. For a more concealable carry gun I have an M&P Shield. Not much of a range gun; but that’s not what it was designed for.

  5. For a first handgun, I recommend a quality .22. It's not as cool as a Glock or other 9mm. But it will work until you have the essential experience under your belt. It's hard to beat the Ruger automatic for price, accuracy, and reliability. If you feel self defense is the primary reason for getting a handgun, go with the Glock 17. It will be easier to learn with a full size pistol, and the Glock is as accurate and reliable as anything out there.

  6. Got a sale notice this morning, from Midway, on free shipping, and they are running a sale on 44 spl ammo. Usually their free shipping does not apply to ammo, however this morning it does. I ordered Sig Elite V-Crown 200 gr 18.29 for 20, Hornady Critical Defense 165 gr 23.50 per 20, Hornady Custom 180 gr 17.95 per 20, and Underweood 200 gr 44 spl I7.89 for 20 ammo this morning. Have plans to shoot all of them, along with the Speer God Dot 200 gr I ordered yesterday 24.00 per 20, into water jugs. When I get the ammo and time to test them I will post the results, if any are interested in water jug test. Got shootin-to-do. Happy, happy, happy!

  7. https://youtu.be/HlkVj_ I was not sure if I should put this in show and tell, general chat, or here. Since it was build to practice for bow hunting figured I would post it here.

  10. Well, I setup an appointment with a company I found via Google. Auto Glass Now Seemingly good reviews. In and out for $161. If the glass looks good and install goes well, I guess I’ll be satisfied.

  11. Would the gun also have to function as a carry gun as well? If so, the G19 is probably the better choice of the group you've listed due to it's smaller size. If concealment size for carry is a concern, there are many excellent choices in the compact size category. My main carry used to be an M&P Shield, but have switched to a Sig P365.

  12. I own a lot of Dewalt tools. Can't say that I have regretted one purchase, and thrilled with most. And yeah... the make you pay for it.

  13. California condors, yea about that. https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2014/dec/2/lead-ammunition-ban-passed-after-feds-withheld-key/ If indeed there is a problem, then why all the games? No doubt they are dying, but lead is abundant in nature,

  14. I like them. I use Gallant bullets for 9mm, 125gr round nose, black coating. They go for $70 shipped for 1,000. Always been good for me.

  15. i started bullet casting in the 80's. i started powder coating two years ago. powder coating is not hard and it does not cost much to setup to do it. the big cost is the setting up of the casting equipment. at this time i will not go back to lubing a bullets, powder coating is much better/cleaner. go to http://castboolits.gunloads.com/forum to learn about casting and powder coating. but,,,,,with the low prices of bulk price bullets it makes it hard to get the casting pot out. yes you can save money by casting, but is the small saving worth the time and effort of casting over the low cost of buying bulk bullets.

  16. Hi GN! There is an extensive thread on the Cast Boolits forum regarding Hi-Tek. In the thread, they caution about the number of incorrect videos on YouTube, but recommended these two as being very good, and accurate. I don't use Hi-Tek, rather I either Powder Coat or use traditional lubes on my cast bullets (depending on the application.) Hope this helps. 17. Which one? Shrout or the wildcat Jennings, lol. The Boys have a promising future with both Mauer and Shrout. They both are very good, level headed, and not afraid to take a hit, unlike Gaurantano who actually delivered today.

  18. This is what I found this morning, I figured this would happen. I have a large Pecan tree in my backyard. The groundhog I was trying to catch was sitting off to the side eating nuts and watching the show.

  20. Years ago when we lived in the land of mickey mouse (Orlando surburb), wife started feeding a few of the backyard squirrels some pnuts from the store. Thought it was fun and they were cute how they would "sneak" up to get one from the pile she put out for them everyday. One day she ran out of pnuts, squirrels got PO'd in the worst way. Tore the screen (chewed a hole in it) on the screened in porch, ransacked the patio furniture, knick knacks, etc., would hang onto the screening material and chat up a storm at us (cussed us out really). Pretty funny until I busted one with a pellet rifle and left it out in the yard. No more squirrels around our house anymore. Wife wouldn't go outside for a week or two, and felt bad because she neglected the squirrels. I felt bad because I had to fix the screening material. GL with your endeavor.
