Him and his wife are probably the most damaging people to gun owners. The both of them, and the Brady Campaign, are responsible for more damage than anyone else. Not in their legislation but in them pushing that guns, and gun owners, are a bad thing to the public. Had he died from his wounds that day we would have been in a better place today. I have zero sympathy for him, his wife or anyone who supports their agenda.

 

I heard on the news this morning the left are going to try to use his death to renew interest in a nationwide ban on assault weapons. They are saying that a ban on assault weapons would be fitting way to honor him.

I don't wish him or his family any harm, as I wouldn't anyone regardless of whether or not I am a fan. I've seen some pretty despicable comments online cheering this guy passing. I agree he and his organization have damaged our rights in many ways, but I won't lower myself to be happy he is dead. I am curious to see how the anti gun folk will spin this whole thing on their side....might make for an "interesting" news cycle at least...

Of course the left and all anti-gun people are going to spin his death every way they can. I am always sorry to hear of someones passing and his is no different. I just wish the the people in the anti gun organizations would have enough respect for his loss to let it go but what I am going to watch is how his wife and family reacts mostly. Personally, I cut the guy some slack. I am not sure that he retained enough intellectual capacity to deal with his wife after the shooting - which would be expected after having a devastator, (IIRC), take out some of his forebrain. His wife, on the other hand, doesn't get any slack from me.

I'm with you, his death isn't reason for me to cheer.  I won't mourn his loss, but I won't celebrate it.  That's bad taste at the least to me.

 

 

No new laws will come from his passing. His death as a rallying cry for new legislation will be nominal at best.  Democrats are already in an uphill battle to keep the Senate.  If they take up an assault weapons ban or any other gun control measure now, every Democrat in a contested race would have to line up against it, or it would almost guarantee a Republican Senate.

 

At best, the usual entrenched anti-gun folks would put up legislation in the Senate.  It may or may not get a committee vote, and Harry Reid probably won't let it come to the floor before the lame duck session.  Even at that stage, it has a 90% chance of dying, but if it somehow passes the Senate, the House won't touch it before the legislative session is up and it would need to be reintroduced in 2015.  Where it would still be a non-starter in the House.

Not surprising, but he did shoot his victims with a .22 caliber revolver and NOT a rifle.  Maybe they're going to ban .22s.  It could explain why ammo is so hard to find!!!  :rofl:

With the midterms coming, I think most politicians are going to distance themselves from most of the polarizing issues so they can keep a job after Nov 4. Any new introductions for a ban of some type would most likely depend on the makeup of the houses come 2015...

A fitting way to honor him would be to remove Hinckley from the mental hospital he is in (except for the 10-17 days a month he is allowed out to spend at his mother’s house) and place him in a Federal Penitentiary for the rest of his life where he belongs.

Four people were shot that day and now the criminal hugging liberals that want to take our guns away because we might shoot someone; is going to let him out.

That's exactly why I need a good lawyer. 33 years after being shot but still able to function a little and with limited capacity speak  they are going to declare his death a homicide. When My son had his auto accident I had a great Health insurance policy plus his auto insurance and both of them had Life insurance policies attached to them. My Son was in a coma almost 2 years and was in a stupor for the last two years and was never out of a doctors care and was classified as Terminal the night of the accident. He never spoke a work or was feed by mouth and was a Quad but because he didn't died until 4 years after the accident both Life Insurance companies refused to pay because he didn't died within a year of the accident. If they can charge Hinckley with Homicide 33years later for Brady's death now then my son Life Insurance Companies should have covered his death because he never recovered from the accident and was under the doctors care and was never released from medical care till he passed away................I didn't know better then but I think I got screwed and I still have the policies from both companies................ :rant:

just heard that on the news.  Hinckley likely will face murder charges now.  Hope he is convicted

The thing that all here (...and everywhere...) should think about is this... This man was shot and his assailant was caught, tried, and adjudicated... That's how the law works here (...if it works correctly, that is...)...

 

His wife and others like her thought that this heinous deed was important enough (... ALA Gabby Giffords style....) that the punishment handed out to David Hinkley by the law wasn't enough... They decided that everyone who owns a gun or honors the owning of guns was guilty of the "crime of owning a gun" (....according to their value system...) should be made to pay; and they went out and politicked to make this clearly fantastic and childish abridgement of the Second Amendment the law of the land... They called in favors and found other like-minded, overbearing jackasses with the influence to make this all happen...

 

I say it's the ultimate disgusting, overbearing, self-important acting out of George Orwell's "Animal Farm"... Remember the great line; "...All animals are equal; but some animals are more equal than others..." It's the Divine right of kings (...and kingmakers...) re-dux... It's exactly what started the American Revolution... That's who these apostate, ratty, overbearing political insiders are at heart...

 

There is, in fact, a two tiered system in this country ALA the Roman Empire... Patricians and plebeians...James Brady was thought to be a Patrician...   I say do not celebrate this poor man's passing nor do him any honor... His family has done enough to damage and divide this country... They simply are not americans, nor should they be honored as such...
