This was a convicted shoplifter. That information came from the Georgia Department of Corrections that leads me to believe he has done time. It wasn’t a store security guard that made the initial stop, it was the store manager. When the suspect ran the store manager grabbed him by the hood of his sweatshirt causing him to go down. He came back up and attacked the manager, hitting him in the face and chest. If someone attacked a Police Officer like that I think most people know they would get hurt and go to jail, I don’t know why anyone would expect a business owner to allow a thief to run off. Unfortunately this Security Officer is probably hosed. Wal-Mart has suspended the two employees and “removed” the Security Officer. They are turning their backs on their employees. But then, how could we expect anything less from Wal-Mart? What’s happening here isn’t right. But these store employees may not have the money to be able to defend themselves. Hopefully if this gets enough attention; someone will come forward to help them. A citizen in this state can make an arrest just like a cop. Just because someone that doesn’t have a badge stops you when you are committing a crime, doesn’t give you the right to attack them. People that are wrongly accused don’t fight. They stop, they deal with the situation, they get a lawyer and they sue. Guilty people fight and try to get away.

What is it with people who can't drive at a steady speed or judge the speed of the person in front of them? I get so tired of goobers who make bad traffic worse by tailgating and then having to slam on the brakes, causing a chain reaction because the person following them is also too close, which disrupts the flow of traffic. And what is up with people who speed up when you are passing them??

anyone who gets sucked into road rage to this point is flat out an idiot and probably not mentally stable. Dick measuring contests such as these rarely have a winner.

My wife always says I drive like a grandpa. I know some of you on here are grandfathers, so please don't take offense. I will preface this by saying that I have not been one much for speeding, but I have found the best way to have hassle free interstate driving. I just set my cruise about 3-4 mph below the speed limit and park it in the right lane. I rarely have to pass, and I just let all the people in a hurry, blast around me on the left. It makes things a breeze when you don't have to worry about merging in and out with people at different speeds.

I use it all. Even the meats that aren't really all that edible. I put a whole crock pot full of ribs on a while back. My dog thought he'd died and went to heaven. Even if you won't eat it, it doesn't mean it can't be put to good use.

Could be poaching but someone could have just cut the back straps and head off then dumped the carcass. I see it all the time and makes me sick. I always take as much meat as I can from the harvest. Might sound weird but I feel like I owe it to the animal not to waste it.

Obviously, the God-given right of men to keep and bear arms and to exercise self-defense doesn't also mean that the man has also had the intelligence and wisdom necessary to know when/how to employ such has been imparted to him. That said, I can't help but think of some members here who have, by their statements, given reason to think that they don't grasp the difference between shooting to stop the threat and shooting to kill or the understanding that they have the right to do one but not the other. ;

People from California aren't Yankees, they're just weird. There are rednecks and good ole boys in every state in the union. IMHO what makes a Yankee a Yankee is a loud mouth and an attitude that the frozen crap hole they're from is superior to Dixie. Not all people from up north have these issues, I know some damn fine people from Ohio and Michigan. They talk funny, but are otherwise great people. But none of that really applies to you since you are from California. The next time someone looks at you funny and asks where you're from, just say "California, thank God I was able to escape!" As long as you don't have an attitude of superiority most people from the South will accept you for who you are and those that wont.... who cares. If you love the South the South will love you in return.

At the risk of stating the obvious, the castle doctrine only applies up to a point...there is a difference between finding someone in your hallway in the middle of the night when you live alone and there is simply no justification for anyone to be there. However, if you have a wife and you find someone in that same hallway in the middle of the day and the guy is wearing a plumbers tool belt; you had better be damn sure he isn't a plumber who you wife called to unstop a drain before you start blasting away. At first blush, I think this guy had the right to shoot the intruders (although I would probably have tried a bit more not to have to do so)...finishing the "job" with execution killings and waiting a day to call LEO...he deserves all the jail time he gets if not a needle.

I would like to remind some folks on here that the reason that the general public thinks gun owners are a bunch of vigilante a-holes is because some of us act like a bunch of vigilante a-holes, and are doing so in response to this story. I understand that the thief escalated the situation (supposedly) and that is very likely why he is dead, but reveling in his death over petty theft is pretty asinine in my opinion. I would wager that every single person on this board has at some time in their life broken a law. I would also wager that none (or at least very few ) of you deserve to be dead.

I am assuming that it will be for HCP If so..It is a little thick and bottom line is that it will all depend on your size and finding the proper holster. If you can make it work...that gun carries an amazing amount of controllable power for its size.

That was the case of a friend of mines wife, a very nice lady who has a good job and no reason to shoplift. I guess she made the mistake of putting her gloves, ones she owned for some time and it was determined very quickly that the store didn't carry or sell that brand and style of gloves, in her coat pocket when some idiot employee/guard came up behind her and grabed her arm so tight it left a mark. needless to say she didn't even get an apology from the manager after being assualted and declared innocent. Although it would have been tempting to help him, I had to talk my friend out of waiting for that idiot outside the store after closing hours. The one thing I hate more than a guilty person getting away with a crime is an innocent person being accused and assualted by some store security guard or employee who is not a law enforcement officer and I really believe that happens quite a bit. They had better be damn sure and have undisputable evidense before they put their claws on a person. My mom is 84 and doesn't drive hardly so me and other family members take her to where she needs or wants to go, when I take her shopping I get on to her for sticking her hands in her pockets to warm them up in the store because I will not tolerate some store security/employee accusing her of stealing, and if they ever put their claws on her there WILL be an incident. I also am not a .40 fan. Fine round and has a place but it is a compromise. It does some of what a 9mm does but not the best parts. Some of what the .45 does but not the best parts. All that and it comes at the cost of less rounds, more cost, more recoil, and less inherent accuracy of the 9mm. If I want small and fast - 9mm. If I want heavy and limited capacity - .45 That being said I think the G19 is about as perfect a sized gun there is. It's compact enough to carry easy, yet large enough to shoot like a full size and in a 9mm you are still getting 15 rnds. Just my .02

Have fun with the new gun. I won an FNX 9 about 2 years ago at the Outpost and it's turned out to be one of my best shooters. Free guns are great!!!

And I'm sorry if my comments come off as harsh, or upset. Please understand I'm in a very foul mood, and worried about my wife. While I would not get into a physical altercation with someone, I do feel the need to vent at times. And in a couple weeks, I may even drop the lawsuit idea. But right now, this is just kinda my way of dealing with the urge to skin someone alive, and I knew you guys would be understanding.

We are a weak people when we have to stand by and watch thieves walk away. I don't care if its a store employee, Security Guard or Cop; no special training is needed to walk up to a person and ask them to step back into the store they are under arrest. If they decided to fight; so be it. People die fighting trained cops the same as Security Guards. When we have to stand by like sheep and let the criminals have their way there will be no safety anywhere.

I agree with Mike on this one. If you have served your sentence, then your debt has been paid and you should not be forced into a second class citizen role with diminished rights and opportunity. The manner in which we handle ex-cons promotes recidivism. What it boils down to for me is that a gun is nothing more than a tool. If I can't trust you with a gun then I can't trust you with a knife or a screwdriver or a hammer or even a car. All are potential weapons. If you can't be trusted with anything that can be used as a weapon, then how can I trust you to walk free in society?

Yeah definitely go easy on it. That's a rifle many people, like myself, would be very happy to own. Break the bolt down and clean every nook and cranny. Hated Glock for years. I was stupid for years. I own two 19's and if I happen on a decent deal, I'll buy a few more. There's no better handgun I've ever held or shot. Period.
