We do it to show respect. Its a southern thing. I also take my hat off and mute my radio, but that's just me.

A little thing called respect.

My dad was a LEO and he went as far as to pull people over for not pulling aside out of respect.  He said he could not ticket but he could delay their day.  I know that is probably really wrong, but it seems really right.

  A woman brought a very limp duck into a Veterinarian's office. As she laid her pet on the table, the vet pulled out his stethoscope and listened to the bird's chest. After a moment or two, the vet shook his head and ... sadly said, "I'm sorry, your duck, Cuddles, has passed away." The distressed woman wailed, "Are you sure?" "Yes, I am sure. As the duck's owner looked on in amazement, the dog stood on his hind legs, put his front paws on the examination table and sniffed the duck from top to bottom. He then looked up at the vet with sad eyes and shook his head. The vet patted the dog on the head and took it out of the room. A few minutes later he returned with a cat. The cat jumped on the table and also delicately sniffed the bird from head to foot. The cat sat back on its haunches, shook its head, meowed softly and strolled out of the room. The vet looked at the woman and said, "I'm sorry, but as I said, this is most definitely, 100% certifiably, a dead duck." The vet turned to his computer terminal, hit a few keys and produced a bill, which he handed to the woman.. The duck's owner, still in shock, took the bill. "$150?" she cried, "$150 just to tell me my duck is dead?!" The vet shrugged, "I'm sorry. If you had just taken my word for it, the bill would have been $20, but with the Lab Report and the Cat Scan, it's now $150."  

I'll commission my own study: According to my study, 9 out of 10 liberals who ran their mouth about stuff they know nothing about were punched in the face for saying stupid things. The obvious solution to the problem is to limit the 1st Amendment rights of people for their own protection and to reduce the number of violent assaults, which have become a health concern.

Having a marijuana leaf decal is reasonable suspicion now?  I'd tell those cops to get f***ked.  What kind of retard cops think that someone trafficking large amounts of illicit drugs is going to put a sticker on their car that advertises it?

Some jurisdictions it's against the law to stop on the roadway and block/impede the normal flow of traffic. I've never heard of anyone getting a ticket though. I will continue to show due respect!   Dave S

If someone is on my property that shouldn't be I'm going to intervene. Police aren't going to stop them from stealing or damaging my property if they don't get there in time. If I catch someone on my property committing a property crime such as theft or vandalism they will get a gun pointed at them and will be ordered to assume the position. At that point they can surrender, run or try to fight me. I'm cool with any of those options, but the option to stand idly by and be a victim is not one I choose.

I think one main point not mentioned in this thread, is that a real problem (I might say the MAIN problem) with our education system (much like other aspects of life) is a multi-generational lack of basic parenting skills throughout the population that has lead to each successive generation feeling more entitled and consequently less responsible for their actions in society. I believe that if you bring back strong parenting and family groups in society that believe in accountability, respect of other individuals, and discipline (gasp!), you might have a hope of turning this country around.

I think I'd be embarrassed.  After seeing their error, police advised the couple to remove the sticker to eliminate any further confusion. To be honest, I have stopped and blocked traffic but that's illegal so we won't talk about that here.

There doesn't appear to be anything especially wrong with the study itself, but the problem lies in how the results are interpreted.  Here is the key point from the results section:       In other words, this study found what criminologists already know about the majority of gun violence, and have know for over 20 years: most gun violence is perpetrated by low-income inner-city youth who are disproportionately minorities and engaged in criminal activity like the illicit drug trade and gang activity.  Where their analysis falls apart is they suggest the findings for the group they study is applicable to the public at large. This is a problem we call a "ecological fallacy" where the researcher tries to apply characteristics of a unique group to the population at large.  The researchers here allude to this in their limitations section, but not fully.  This what happens when people who are not trained as social sciences try to explain social phenomena like gun crime.  I see similar problems happen when economists - including John Lott - try to do the same thing.  Low-income urban youth tend to be part of a very unique sub-culture in American society where violence is a very common and expected part of daily life. It's simply inaccurate to compare the experiences of these individuals to the experiences of people who do not live in this social environment.  This would be like doing a study of gun violence in Afghanistan and saying that most victims of gun violence tend to be involved in military operations, so that is proof that possessing a firearm increases the likelihood of being killed by a firearm.

I'm positive it is not "illegal" but (and it's been quite a while since I looked it up) while not "illegal"; if you are stopped by LE and they find that much cash on you I believe they can legally confiscate it under the assumption that it's either "drug money" or at least evidence of criminal activity. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong about that.  

You may have to declare it at an airport if you're leaving the country. A bank may have to notify the IRS if you make a cash deposit of that amount. It is not illegal to walk, drive, skip or jump with that much money on your person. That is, unless you get stopped by the drug task force here in the state of Tennessee. Then they will take your money, harass you for a while on the side of the interstate and send you on your way without filing any charges. Oh yeah, they will also keep your money and never return it. But hey, that's a small price to pay to live in a free society.

Lets keep voting in the online polls, keep calls, emails and letters to Congress.   I can't help but feel that the widespread outpouring of sentiment and support for our rights, and letting these business supporters know we appreciate their help; will give us a more than fighting chance of stopping this anti-weapons ban again.   But it must not slack off.    I think you are right. It's just too easy to sit back and watch the world and it's problems go by. Far too many people just want to "get along."    I know firsthand. I lived like that for many years.   If a slacker like myself can wake up...surely more can.

He couldn’t get elected. I’m not sure any conservative, or even any Republican could. Those that don’t want to work, want a handout from the government, support gun control and unlimited immigration; are unfortunately becoming the majority voting. Our nation is in distress.  

Both my nephew and my niece are being home schooled by my middle sister, their aunt. Their mom and their aunt are both teachers, my oldest sister still teaches, my middle one quit to home school the kids and spend time with her newborn. Now if the teachers in the school system think what They Are required to teach is bad enough that they home school their own kids, its gotten pretty bad. And yes they do teach things they don't agree with, because they have to pay bills like everyone else. I don't think a home schooled kid is really missing anything other than having evolution theory, socialism, and a bunch of other goverment mandated, brain washing crap fed to them every day. Granted they don't get the social situations, but if they attend church like my family does, or make regular trips to the park, friends houses, etc, they don't seem to miss out on much.

  You get an A+ in this class. Unfortunately, we can't mention it. Excellence is politically incorrect. :)

Right, I have no doubt that slimeball lawyers will try to soak you in civil court, and depending on the state you're in a DA might come after you, but in the world that exists before the courtroom, the world in which you are currently fighting for your life that means dick to me. If I'm in fear of being killed, I'm in fear of being killed, ya know. There is nothing anyone can say that could possibly trump fear for your life of the life of a loved one, because there is no punishment the courts can dole out to you that is worse than death or watching a loved one killed.

They've lost a lot of support, and it's kinda turned them into wobbly legged bitches. They need to get their social agenda together. If they focus on the back of our pants (wallets) instead of the front (fun parts), they may not chase as many folks to the other side.

Maybe they didn't "apprehend" him because the day he died Dorner engaged a truck with Park Rangers in it with a heavy volume of fire in an attempt to kill the occupants, then later shot two deputies, killing one, before barricading himself in the house and not surrendering when given the opportunity, making it clear to any one WHO HAS BASIC REASONING SKILLS, that he will try to kill anyone who enters the home to apprehend him. I don't know about you, but I'm not going into that house to face certain death if there is a way around it. They tried to gas him. It caused a fire (maybe). Sh*t like that happens when you kill 4 people and tell the police you have no intention of being taken alive.

  Yup.  And... they will not hesitate to tell you that.  To your face.  And a lot more.  Yet there are many who will, and do, say, "nahhhhh...they don't really mean that...you're taking them too literally..."   Must be easier mentally to be a happy-go-luck lamb being led to the slaughter.

And some wonder why so many have a negative view of LEO. Blatant abuse of power on a regular basis will do that. I've been reading the local news this morning for about 15-minutes or so, and this is the 3rd story I've read about bad cops. First story was about some douchebag Metro cop that slashed a homeless man's tent. He was removed from the streets and his commander(s) have since apologized. The second was about Sherrif's deputies in or around Camden who broke through a locked gate and kicked in the doors of a home where they *thought* there may have been some underage drinking going on. At least one officer testified that another hit a someone in the face with a flashlight. That person was already cuffed and face down on the ground. A judge tossed the entire case, saying the cops had no cause to enter the property in the first place. There in now a federal lawsuit. Then there is this story. All three in the LOCAL news just today. Who knows what else has happened that went unreported, not only locally, but nationally. And some wonder why so many don't trust any LEO.

I have been a staunch Republican supporter for close to 25 years now.  Looking back, I agree whole heartedly with the OP.  Republicans (national level) would rather compromise than stand the ground or push it in your face mentality like the dems do.  I understand that leadership is the ability to influence others, it is not caving or whimping out.  If the republicans want to take or be in a leadership role, they need to lead, not follow or whimp out.  I was somewhat intrigued a few years ago with the Tea party, still had some reservations, but nonetheless found them to be intriguing.  My desire is for the republicans to stand their ground.  If you are going to go down, go down fighting, not fading or whimping away.    BTW The state level republicans are feisty.  The national republicans could learn alot from those state pesty young ones!   Unless all national republicans began their public service at the state level, and they have lost their way which I suspect.

That's a major obstacle. The .gov keeps everyone too scared to say and do what they *really* want to say and do, especially those with the loudest voice. They'll use whatever tactics necessary to ensure The People stay in lock-step. The .gov tracks everything from internet to instant messages; cell to short wave communications. Not to mention the countless domestic spys used to infiltrate groups, even possibly right here on TGO. They intentionally make it very difficult to "assemble" much of anything. If The People ever decide it's time to regain control of the country, it will take something very massive. It will take many groups in many location working in unison. As long as everyone is too scared to take the plunge, it will likely take a complete meltdown of our financial system, or something of similar magnitude.

The revolver should operate smoothly.  Double-action trigger pull is intentionally heavy.  Single-action should break pretty crisply, but don't expect it to be like a Colt Python.  To eject empty shells, push down on the barrel latch lever and open the action briskly.  Opening it very slowly may allow the cam to reset and the ejector star to drop before the shells are completely out.   With a bit of practice, you can eject the empties by pushing the top of the barrel against your right thigh as you operate the barrel latch with your right hand.  Your left hand should secure six new cartridges from your belt pouch and drop them into the chambers by feel as you stand erect and gaze coolly at your approaching enemies.
