Decided to get away from it all with some friends today. Took a nice lil stroll up the holler and across the ridges. Found a nice lil clearing on an old logging road, after fighting through 3 year old new growth under brusb and briars. Built a lil fire, did some carving, cooked some bacon and and coffe and just had a good old time. Its been a truly good day. Sent from the backwoods of Nowhere4 points

Yep, next week I'll be making at least half a dozen offers a day. I expect to get a lot of hate mail back, but I'm sure some will bite. It will feel good. Cash is hard to turn down when you need smokes, PBR and baby food.4 points

I doubt there is much that this guy does by "accident." I'm sure everything that goes on in that office is so well thought out and planned. The guy can't even eat food without it being pre-tested. This was no mistake. They're only saying that because of negative backlash.3 points

If you haven't uninstalled and reinstalled Tapatalk since David was kind enough to let us use it again, you may need to do so. I'm still seeing HTML code in posts made by some of those using Tapatalk. I was having the same issue, and a quick uninstall and reinstall solved the problem.2 points

Could someone stop in and define the "free market" for me? I haven't heard it in 15 or 20 minutes...2 points

A free market capitalist society works by selling high and buying low. Just because the commodity of the day happens to be something we love dearly doesn't give any of us just cause to defame those who .....(wait for it, the word of the day) CAPITALIZE on a ripe market. Who would be complaining right now if the price of Cabbage Patch dolls had quadrupled over night? Who was griping when gold spiked so fast a while back? You might not like it, I certainly don't, but it's not a fair assessment to say there ever has been a 'problem'. There is not and hasn't been a problem for the prepared person. Chance favors the prepared mind and the venture capitalists take big chances in hopes of big returns. Anyone who doesn't support this type of market, doesn't truly support the foundation of this country. We don't have to like it to admit and accept the fact that it's fair and those engaged in it are doing NOTHING wrong.2 points

My Cousin sold a Bushmaster M4 and a case of Tulammo .223 for $3600 at the height of the panic. He paid off the rest of his car payment with the profits. He only had $1000 in the package. I am with you, Magic. If someone is willing to be stupid enough to pay 3 and 4 times the MSRP on an item, why not? Maybe they will learn not to be stupid.2 points

Was told by a shop that a local guy spent $3,500 to buy two AR's. He used the money for his mortgage, car payment, utilities and all his insurance money for the month or two to buy them. His wife told him not to but he convinced his wife he could sell them for $3,500 each in a week. Last I heard he was having a hard time paying his bills because he isn't even making his money back. I suspect there are a lot of people in the same boat now. Facing bills they cannot pay because they hoped to take advantage of the fear mongering people where doing. Dolomite2 points

Let their tears fall like rain. I'll be more than happy to lowball these bastards with cash. I've already seen the excuses starting on other forums- "I got a little carried away with the panic and now I need to sell some stuff". Oh well, sucks to be you. Now we'll see the real free market at work.2 points

I see no crime here except the murder of 2 children by a selfish moron.2 points

I think I'll keep a couple grand on hand for 'ol Jim Bob. I have every intention of making low ball offers on these clowns that cleaned out retailers and are now looking at their CC statement wondering how they're going to pay it. Jim Bob needs to feel pain for what he is trying to do to honest gun owners. I will be scooping up as many rifles I can at 25% below retail value. At least I'll have a good collection to pass on to my kids.2 points

Well, you're probably right, as the only way they can really enforce the penalty for not buying insurance is to withhold any tax return money. Another reason to never loan the government your money interest free for a year. If you're getting a return, you're screwing yourself to begin with. - OS2 points

And this is why no one is going to take you up on your offer. This guy had is photo made and look what happened... :rofl:2 points

Young? Man, I'm 41. I kinda don't believe I should have to join the military and go to a foreign country in order to exercise my right to keep and bear arms. I am also old enough to remember when pretty much every "good ol' boy" drove a pickup truck that had a gun rack in the rear window. That rack generally held at least a shotgun and, often, a rifle. Those long guns were present year 'round, not just during hunting season and, no, hunting season isn't different because the Second Amendment is not about hunting. It was not a big deal and no one freaked out nor were they portrayed as 'armed mobs' by most folks because, back then, people weren't drinking the pussification Kool-Aid. Some of us might like to still be able to do that without being harassed and without anyone freaking out. It isn't our fault that the general populace has their heads up their collective asses. I also don't think that most of us are talking about walking down the sidewalk, either alone or in groups, while carrying an AR, etc.2 points

1.5" loops work fine with the Ares Ranger belt. You'll have to work the belt through the loops, but this is due to the contour of the holster and the narrow width of the loops from front to back. You'd have to work the belt through with 1.75" loops, too. It makes for a great system that I use daily. Even a government sized 1911 with a x300 attached stays put without an issue.1 point

It still does not meet the definiton of a "Straw Purchase" on the ATF's site.Which is knowingly purchasing a weapon for some one who can't on their own from a FFL. The is no law on Straw Purchase on private sales . Just selling to someone who shouldn't or can't own one. I'm just saying it is interesting concept.1 point

There are several reasons not to have a 5.56 AR for home defense. First is the concussion. AR's are LOUD and when you get inside a confined space it only magnifies it. Even with hearing protection the concussive blast can disorient you. Second is, no matter the round, it will penetrate walls and do not make the assumption that you will not miss the bad guy. And no matter how righteous the shoot is you can still be held accountable for that round that went through your walls and injured someone. Another consideration is the muzzle flash which can be blinding at night or in low light conditions. As far as overpenetration goes most calibers that are considered useful for self defense are going to over penetrate if you miss your target. In my SD shotgun I have things loaded in this order. 1. 00 buck 2. 00 buck 3. #4 steel shot 4. 00 buck 5. #4 steel shot 6. Slug 7. Slug All of them are high velocity, high brass loads. No reduced recoil/velocity stuff. The slugs are for the longer distances. Because I am likely to encounter problems at shorter ranges that is why I use shot with slugs being the last. I have nobody to worry about hitting in the direction I will be shooting. If I did I would load my gun up with a much smaller shot size. Even birdshot can be very devastating at SD ranges. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gq3RVvL9ZjU&feature=player_detailpage Dolomite1 point

Not to mention you would be breaking federal law by doing that. There are a lot of people out there willing to risk their freedom for a few bucks, I am not. Making a profit in a free market is one thing but breaking the law, buying with the intent to resell, to make a profit in a free market is another. Dolomite1 point

i used one for 30 plus years and before that i used and still have a old texas star one. they stay in the ball park and don't vary much. when they do vary it is not that big and you can not tell any different when you chronograph the load. some powders flow better than others. same as in the dillon powder drop. i get my weight set and lock it down. i check it every once in a while while reloading, but i don't get wrapped around the axle when it is a little high/low during a check.1 point

Yep, if you're being flanked from the right side, you can lay down cover from the ejection port. - OS1 point

Hmmm, my method would be wrapping about 30 ft of time fuse around him starting at his legs then ending at a blasting cap shoved up his pee hole. Can't really compete with that kinda physical and psychological torture. The end result would be watching him bleed out very slowly from where his wiener used to be.1 point

yeah, blaming the parents for the sins of their adult child sounds like a good idea. :squint: This should go for parents of people who commit other crimes too. :down:1 point

I cant stand drunk drivers. Ive almost been hit several times do to people all over the road that seemed drunk. I hate going to work on early saturday mornings. Always seems a drunk is going home. Ive gotten really mad by just almost getting hit by these fools. I couldnt imagine if one killed my kids. Not sure what i would do if that kind of anger hit me.1 point

I think he may be forced to come down here to get enough 'shots.' I hear NY has limited photographers to 35mm SLRs instead of the digital 'assault' SLRs, and also limited their film capacity to 7 exposures.1 point

Being a veteran , this looks like discrimination to me, I didn't choose to make a career of the military but I served in Viet Nam. If they want to do something for veterans maybe a free or cheap lifetime hunting and fishing license would be more appropriate. The more I think about this the more ticked off I get. My closest neighbor is a Korean war veteran and I have some WW2 vet friends, boy this is just another slap in the face to all veterans. If you cannot do it for all veterans then don't do it for a few. I just emailed my state senator and representive urging them to oppose this legislation. Rant over!1 point

AT first Red Dawn didn't seem realistic, but after seeing how little ammo these guys have, I would say a neighborhood of Americans with Mosins could take out 2 brigades by themselves :rofl:1 point

Awesome shoot! The weather really did turn out perfect and we got in all 7 stages. Tish and I got to score and I even got a chance to run the clock! I had one strong stage, stage 5. Two steel targets at distance, then a shoot and advance vertically up the field shooting 14 rounds. With no targets obscured, it was really an exercise in cover and 'shoot and move.' The simplicity worked for me as did my two reloads and I almost went under twenty seconds (I did see the fasted time was just over 10!) Stage 2 is where I took it the worst, with 12 potential targets and some moving stuff... I didn't even SEE one of the targets from the window... TOTAL mental laps. Had a great squad though, thanks to Robert for keeping it running smoothly and our squad mates for ALL pitching in. Michael and Chip thanks for the garment hook up and of course MCTS for another well run match. We'll see you all at the next one!1 point

As far as the Bill of Rights, God gave us the right to self defence. No man can take that from us, but they did. Sad country we live in.1 point

Why do we even have to have a permit? If you can buy it you should be able to carry it! Open or conceal.1 point
-
Well, I also believe it is my right to grow a bunch of marijuana plants in my back yard and smoke its buds 'til the cows come home, but exercising that right will get me thrown in jail just as quick as carrying a firearm without a permit. As far as I'm concerned folks have the right to own machineguns and artillery peices.1 point
-
The TFA is and has been working on that but you won't see it happen under the triumvirate of RINOs we currently have in charge.1 point
-
Or we could skip the permit process altogether & just pass a law making Constitutional carry the law of the land, those already prohibited from owning firearms would still be prohibited, but anyone who can lawfully own (keep) a firearm, also can lawfully carry (bear) them. I can just imagine our founding fathers reaction to us having to first get the Crown's "permission" & then pay a "tax" prior to being able to excersize one of our Constitutional Rights! I am not sure if they'd laugh or if they'd cry, but I'm fairly certain they'd get really pissed off after the initial shock wore off.1 point

Also no cuts for the slime ball politicians that caused this mess...1 point

I either own or have shot many of the guns recommended and they are all good choices to look at. I wouldn't take any off the list. That all being said, noone but you can decide on the gun that fits your hand best and its hard to find a good all around gun. A gun that is highly concealable is not going to be a great gun at the range and something comforable at the range is rarely going to be the pocket rocket thats good to hide all the time. Nor is it going to have the mag size that I would prefer in a gun that I kept in my nightstand. one gun is going to be a compromise and only you can make those choices.1 point
-
That's an F for Freaking Awsome! There are a few things I'd like to see changed, constitutional carry for one, no more TBI $10 background checks being another. Overall though after living in Ca for most of my life I'll take what's here with a smile.1 point

The main problem with modern war (and by modern I mean from Vietnam till the present) is that we are trying to fight with our hands tied behind our backs. I have been in combat in Iraq and Afghanistan. I have seen this first hand. The war could have been over with in a year or two easily if we had just went in there and fought the war like wars should be fought. Instead we practically had to get congressional approval to kill a terrorist. Those who say we have no business in the Middle East have obviously forgotton 9/11 and who perpetrated it. The Taliban and Al Qaeda should have been totally wiped out long ago. Yes, there would have been civilian casualties, but then when you look at it, 9/11 was mostly civilian casualties ON PURPOSE! Just something to think about before you start condemning the war and the troops who give blood, sweat, tears, limbs, and sometimes their own life to defend you.1 point
