  1.   We're just doing lowers.  I have no information about whether this company even manufactures uppers.   That being said, I think people really get too worked up over the notion of matching uppers and lowers when they build an AR because they've been conditioned to think that a BMC upper [or insert brand here] needs an upper from the same manufacturer to somehow be a quality firearm.  None of my ARs have brand matching uppers and lowers.  I built them with the best components possible and selected uppers based on my need, not on what the lower said on the side of it.   I'm really surprised that people aren't just satisfied that someone has taken it upon themselves to offer us this opportunity for billet lowers with the community logo on them.

  5. I have no doubt that this is a "political message" to the Haslams from the Obama administration.  It's my belief that this is completely partisan.  Remember, the gubmt doesnt have to prove there is any wrongdoing here.  They just have to "suspect" there is some.     If the "investigation" goes no where, all the gubmt needs to say is "sorry for your trouble". Their company is stuck with the expense of defending themselves legally, the disruption to business, and the "stigma" be being under investigation. Additionally, if the law hasnt changed, the company will be barred from bidding and delivering on any gubmt contracts while the investigation is ongoing.    This will turn out, i believe, as others have--- "a dry hole" for gubmt.   Remember, that aint the idea.... The idea is to make those investigated and those looking on afraid.  After all, that's "the Chicago way".     I cant wait to see where this one goes and who it touches next.   leroy

  10. Just wanted to give you guys an update on my original post.  I ended up going with the Motorola SB6141 modem and the Asus RT-AC66R router.   Been running about a week and a half now and everything has been working well so far.   The wireless signal is strong enough to get it outside where I wanted which was my biggest concern.   I'm very pleased with the router.      Thanks again for all the advice!

  12. Not that long ago, nobody thought that we would ever have a GOP-controlled state legislature either.  The right candidate can make this happen... we have to take the state GOP back from the RINO's.  True conservatives have made GOP control of Tennessee happen... if we can do that, we should be able to win control of our own party.

  14. I'm going to look at this with a bit of skepticism until there are facts. A mysterious "Dr. X" with altered voice coming out about this with no hard evidence is not enough for me to get spun up about. Some of it sounds plausible, but I know that things have changed over the years to answer the mail on veteran suicide. Trying to remove firearms from the homes potentially suicidal vets is something the VA is going to do. The potential for them to overstep their bounds is completely possible, but I don't believe that is part of a larger plot, just typical knee jerk and inefficient government policies. I think what the "Doctor X" talks about are symptoms of a broken a system rather than a sinister plot. Seriously, anyone who has dealt with the VA knows how effed up they are.

  18. I'm not sure some of the dr's at the VA even have a license. Definitely not top of the line at best. I've been dealing with the VA since '68 & i've come across some things that would curl your hair. Totally lost sight of their original misson.

Try this, yall will like it. http://www.ccrkba.org/?p=3209   CCRKBA CALLS FOR UNIVERSAL BACKGROUND CHECKS ON ALL ELECTED OFFICIALS Wednesday, April 10th, 2013 BELLEVUE, WA – “If politicians want universal background checks, we should start with them,” said Alan Gottlieb, chairman of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms. He pointed to recent political scandals in the New York Legislature, which just passed a new restrictive gun control law, where a state senator and state assemblyman were arrested last week, as “one small example.”

  22. I had the privilege of ROing the range part of the HCP class put on by the Cleveland Hunting Rifle & Pistol Club on Saturday.  The students, and some of guns surprised me.     Of the 28 students 15 were women.  Some were wives, but there were single gals there as well.  One young gal shot a pistol for the first time ever, her new 9mm Taurus.  She obliterated the  main mass of the target with only one flyer off paper, her 1st shot.  As many women as men used Ruger & Browning .22 autos, the majority guns & caliber that I saw.  That was a surprise to me.  One wife didn't have a shot outside the 9 ring shooting a target Ruger .22.     I saw one old perfect condition Colt Cobra that a girl used, and several single action .22 Rugers.  One guy qualified with a post war, matching s/n, made in West Germany P-38 in 9mm.   I qualified with a Colt .45 and did get some odd looks years ago.  USMC, State Trooper and Cowboy backgrounds always have had me shooting big caliber guns.  I had my wife, family and daughters shoot .40 Glocks or K frame .38 S&W revolvers.    I was probably wrong pushing all of them to shoot the bigger guns.  Everyone needs to shoot what they are most comfortable with, especially for a HCP range test.   It was good to see so many young women deciding to get a HCP.  After shooting we talked a lot about what & how women can carry now.  It was a most enjoyable time and I would do it again.   Cherokee Slim

  24. In the words of the immortal Lewis Grizzard, "it's a trick General Sherman, there's two of 'em!" It's a ruse that both parties are in on - whether they realize it or not. It gives some credence to the old saying that if voting actually mattered they'd have outlawed it already.

  25. The new requirement for the shooting portion is a total of 50 round. This includes 20 @ 3yds, 20@ 5yds and 10 rounds @ 7yds. You must score 70%. 2 points for everything inside 7 ring, 1 point outside, 0 points off the target. My students are having a harder time with the new target especially new shooters

  26. I was reading through the NRA site today and happened to notice that it took all of feinsteins staff a year to come up with their trash they call legislation or a bill... I mean a year...it took us over 10 years  to find a 6 foot thug that ultimately caused a lot of carnage and war but she and her staff figured out how to eradicate "assault weapons" with a plan that took 1 whole  year to devise... that she thinks, will last forever.you would think her bill has more print in it than tolstoys war and peace.   "you cant fix stupid".............

  28. They have opened a facility in Kentucky, and in last year’s contact the union negotiated to represent any new plants for the next five years. Sounds like someone is thinking about it. If most of their machines are near the end of their service life they might be able to sell the facility and move. But moving machines is no small cost. We spent $150K to move one machine from NY to TN. plus they would run the risk of losing many of their best people. They couldn’t move to Tennessee and hire enough skilled machinists to get the job done. They won’t hurt NY by leaving. The will only hurt the employees that have been loyal to them and possibly the shareholders and customers if they do something stupid financially because of politics. But putting all that aside, I’m just still at a loss as how anyone can see how Remington has turned on us or sold us out.

  42.   Well, seriously, if you say you own for example a Smith and Wesson AR, it only means it is assembled, branded, and warrantied as such. If you knew what manufacturers actually made all the components, the list would be about the same length as one you'd built yourself, shopping around for best deal on the various components.   The only slight advantage you may have when buying a name brand complete AR is that the entire rifle is under warranty to you, rather than each component separately. Also, you have a reasonable assurance that the company is using components that meet their own standards, so depending on reputation of the company, you can pick one that is likely to more closely meet your own, without researching the rep and specs of each major component when you assemble one yourself.   - OS

  43.   This is correct.   It has been the plan all along since they got so much heat from folks like us over the original Feinstein AWB.   Harry Reid took the slick route by "only allowing what would pass" so they could keep the bill moving, to later add amendments so they can add in what they really want later. The Clinton era AWB was done as an amendment. Don't think it can't happen folks. Just like a lot of you trusted or thought most of the Republican senators wouldn't vote for s649, they still did it and then lie to your face claiming to be pro-2A, pro-gun, etc. It could happen in the house just as easily. When one or two cave, the rest start following like sheep.    Feinstein stated her goal as to ban all hi-cap mags and only allow 10rds, and to ban AW's to dry up the supply of all semi-auto so called assault rifles (the same thing that happened to full auto weapons will happen to semi auto under her plan, no supply, the remaining will be very used and high priced 20 or so years from now).    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHfOTfw4hQo     This is why I gave Corker and Alexander some heat on their FB pages for claiming to be pro-2A and A+ rated by the NRA.   Here are links to all the republicans who voted for s649       The bill so far: http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/113/s649/text

  48.   Which is what will happen now.   This closure vote Will FORCE the Dems to speak against the 2A and the Bill of Rights.  Those Dems in Red states that face re-election in 2014 will be on the record in these debates.   This could be a major factor in the GOP taking back the Senate in 2014.  Dem Senators speaking against the 2A and then getting voted out in 2014.   With a GOP majority in the Senate & House, Obama becomes a Total and Complete Lame Duck for his last two years!   Make Obama powerless - - - That is how to defend the Constitution!

  49. I got a call from Corker's Chief Council this afternoon.  I reckon they are getting the drift that they may have stepped in it this time.  He tried the same old, "We feel the Senate is where issues should be debated" scam on me.  I told him first, in my mind the debate on the 2nd was done in the early 1700's between us and England, and, between the Citizens of the US during the years it took to ratify the Constitution, which required the Bill of Rights to get that done.   Secondly, I told him the whole thing reminded me of having a cottonmouth tied up in a tote sack, and taking that bag into my grandkid's Sunday School class and cutting the tie and dumping it on the floor.  I assure him that the class teacher and the kids could debate what to do, but that I was pretty sure that they were not better off by having that discussion, when it could have been avoided in the first fricken place.
