A woman goes to the Doctor, worried about her husband's temper. The Doctor asks: "What's the problem? The woman says: "Doctor, I don't know what to do. Every day my husband seems to lose his temper for no reason, and it scares me." ... The Doctor says: "I have a cure for that. When it seems that your husband is getting angry, just take a glass of water and start swishing it in your mouth. Just swish and swish but don't swallow it until he either leaves the room or goes to bed and falls asleep." Two weeks later the woman comes back to the doctor, looking fresh and reborn. The woman says: "Doctor that was a brilliant idea! Every time my husband started losing it, I swished with water. I swished and swished, and he calmed right down! How does a glass of water do that?" The Doctor says: "The water itself does nothing. It's keeping your mouth shut that does the trick...."11 points

Obama rated 5th best president ever...... Of the total of 44 US Presidents: Obama rated 5th best president ever. I was just reading a Democratic publicity release that said, "...after a little more than 4 years, Obama has been rated the 5th best president ever." The details according to White House Publicists: * Reagan, Lincoln, and 8 others tied for first, * 15 presidents tied for second, * 17 other presidents tied for third, * Jimmy Carter came in 4th, and * Obama came in fifth (borrowed from another forum)4 points

I thought I'd post some pics of my dads end of the world chicken coop. My name, not his lol. Its built out of oak we cut from our land, then cut on the band mill. It sits on oak 6x6's with a rock foundation, and its built in a bat and board style, with external nest boxes to get eggs from the outside. It has storage up top for anything you'd really need to store, we usually keep chicken feed up there. Anyways I thought I'd share, since its on of the strongest and best built chicken coops I've seen, and I'm proud to say I helped my old man build it. This is exactly right. The founders never intended on an income tax; they would roll over in their graves at the idea of the federal reserve; if they knew the federal government could tax a farmer for wheat grown in his own field and consumed only by his family they would start another revolution. And the list goes on and on and on. The country we have now is almost 180 degrees opposite what the founders...well founded.3 points

After Boston bombings Bloomberg states that we will "have to change" interpretation of the Constitution to provide greater security to ward off future attacks. http://politicker.com/2013/04/bloomberg-says-post-boston-interpretation-of-the-constitution-will-have-to-change/ Mr Bloomberg may I quote from a founding father that you seem to look down upon Ben Franklin-- "Those willing to trade essential liberity for temporary security, deserve neither liberity nor security"2 points

What is the intended purpose of the rifle? The reason I ask is so that I can give the best advice w/regards to whether or not this would be the best choice in optics ... In general yea these are pretty decent electronic sights, but I wouldn't suggest them for anything more than "recreational use". If you are wanting an optic for a work/duty/fighting/shtf rifle than I'd suggest ponying up the extra dough for one of the three proven performers such as an actual Aimpoint, Trijicon or Eotech.2 points

What we fight today is not war, IMHO, and that includes Afghanistan. War is uncivilized by nature yet we try to civilize it. We haven't fought a war since WWII. Even Israel is trying to civilize war lately with their refusing to destroy a rocket-launching site because it was sitting atop an apartment building. You see, true innocents don't live next to a rocket-launcher. They either cause the rocket-launcher to be moved or they move away from it. If you house a combatant then you are no longer a non-combatant, and neither are your loved ones.2 points

I love 1911s. Don't much care for Kimber as I think they are overpriced for what you get and, personally, I've been unimpressed with the quality and reliability of the several I've owned. I too would consider a Rock Island or Sig 1911; both very good for the $ spend. That said, as much as I love 1911s and even occasionally carry one, it's no longer my sidearm of choice for something I'm going to bet my life on. A carry weapon is a tool and based on personal experience, I switched to carrying a Glock about three years ago.2 points

I have experience in this.... They may enter the fugitive's house, the co-signers house, or any house that they are certain the fugitive is in without a warrant. If they are to do so, in Tennessee, they must notify local LEOprior to arrival at the house. That being said, I would never force my way inside of a house fitting the 3rd criteria, that is WAY to dangerous. If I was for sure they were there I would simply call the local LEO and have them open the door for me. People seem to open doors better for them. It is never a good idea just to waltz into someone's house. (Especially Jesse's house, home of the M16!)2 points

If a whacko comes to kill your kids... shoot him. This ain't hard.2 points
-
This is how I feel. This kid killed people and the Aurora shooter killed many more. Both were US citizens. If you are going to treat this kid as a terrorist you need to charge the aurora shooter, as well as dozens of other killers, as a terrorists. I think people see muslim and automatically assume they are affiliated with a terroristic organization but so far none have claimed responsibility. Al Qaeda has even denied what could have been an easy moral booster to their organization. So in the end I think this kid is a killer like any other but his face will be the face of terror until the next attack comes. If we are basing him being a terrorist on the fact he is muslim then every other muslim should be a terrorist anytime they commit a crime. Or if it is because they kill multiple people then there are a lot of terrorists out there. Or if it is because he used explosives then there are a lot of killers out that have used an explosive. I think, in the end, he is just a killer that used and explosive to kill. He is still a sick individual that should be held accountable in the same way as any other citizen who committed a similar crime. We have a much larger problems than terrorists. The "Global War on Terror" is name used to garner support for a lot of the operations we do that are questionable at best and outwright wrong at worst. Everyday we are killing innocent people in other countries in this "Global War on Terror". On top of that the rights of US citizens are being trampled on every day in the name of the "Global War on Terror". Our guns will eventually be taken away by the governement in the name of this "Global War on Terror" because the powers that be are already trying to connect the two to garner support. Our right to privacy has, and will continue to, be eroded by the government every day because of the"Global War on Terror". Almost every article in the Bill of Rights will likely be be null and void before the "Global War on Terror" is declared over, if it ever is. And the "Global War on Terror" will be the excuse given every time a right we once had is taken away. And if you think about all that has been taken away from us then you realize the terrorists are winning. Terrorist, by definition, is the systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion. We have been coerced, by the terrorist and our own governemnt, to accept the loss of freedom(s) as acceptable in hopes of preventing terrorism. And in my eyes the terrorists win every time we are coerced into believing that loosing just one more freedom for the hope of security is acceptable. I believe it isn't the terrorists most Americans have to worry about but what the government does in the name of preventing terrorism. Then beyond this fear of terror we have our economy that is getting worse every day and that is what really worries me. I believe all the terrorist attacks combined will pale in comparison to the death toll if our economy collpased, even if only for a few months. But a collapse is what is needed to reset everything. When you consider how many actually depend on their benefit then you will see how bad it will be when those benefits stop. And in the wake of any type of collapse there will be even more freedoms taken away.2 points

It is indeed true that the machine gun ban was a last minute amendment which was passed by voice vote, and erroneously, for which you can thank Charlie Rangel. - OS1 point

Agreed, except for he doesn't just "want to" take away our freedoms, he actually has taken away a wide range of his fellow American's freedoms, well a wide range of his fellow New Yorker's freedoms anyway.1 point

I agree, I'm going to let a lot lay for awhile. I was in reloaders bench today just to look. Didn't buy anything. He had a decent shelf full of primers...all of them including SP, $39...yep, just going to let it lay awhile. I made a pact with myself tonight that I'm going to try to hold out until 2014 before I buy any ammo, unless we return to normal before then. I know I can stretch my .22s out that long, and I'm sitting ok for reloading components. Did I mention I'm doing more fishing this year than normal? LOL.... I really need a new bumper sticker that says AMMO GOUGERS SUCK ... :yuck:1 point

I have that Gum Creek rig on the underside of my dash to the right of the steering wheel. I don't see it as a permanent place to store a handgun. That's what the safe under the seat is for. I put my EDC gun in it when I get in the truck and take it out to reholster it when I get out. It's a lot easier to draw from there than my hip when belted in.1 point

Sometimes I find it hard to believe the things he says are for real, but they are. He is literally saying we need to sacrifice freedoms for security. He isn't even sugar coating it anymore. Plus, he's saying it in such a way that he suggests if we don't then the terrorists win. How effing nuts is this guy? Isn't the whole point that we don't change our way of life or restrict our freedoms due to the actions of terrorists?1 point

Well he did sign into law the ban on the sale of new machine guns to civillians. As well as supporting the assault weapons ban. It was his strong support of the ban on assault weapons that likely led to it passing congress in 1994. He was pro 2nd amendment during the beginning of his presidency but made a 180 degree turn at the end of his presidency. Reagan even teamed up with Jummy Carter and Gerald Ford to push for a ban on assault weapons. So I say he did a lot, a lot that we should not forget as gun owners.1 point

well of course terrorists get their guns and pressure cookers at gun shows. I see people all the time buying them things with no ID. Them doing the buying look like terrorists. Just the last time I was there with Oh Shoot I said, " look that them terrorists over there buying them pressure cookers and guns, they are up to no good" Why don't they just make a law where only white men can buy guns and pressure cookers? Problem solved!1 point

"One Second After" followed by "Lights Out" are my two favorites. Been reading and thoroughly enjoying the "Holding Their Own" series by Joe Nobody...this one is a really good series! I've been reading and enjoying the :Path of Survival" series by David Mauldin. I read "the Pulse"...didn't care much for it; not bad but definitely an also-ran. Of course, "Lights Out" was so good almost anything he wrote next stood a good chance of not measuring up to that standard. While waiting for one of the series to publish the next installment, I recently started "TEOTWAWKI: Beacons' Story" by David Craig which so far has been a good read.1 point

I just finished Patriot Dawn: The resistance Rises by Max Velocity and it was awesome. Be forewarned, it is very technical and uses a lot of military speech and acronyms. Most Vets won't have any issues, but some civilians may have to google some of the things. I'm now reading his training manual Contact: A tactical manual for post collapse survival. Lots of good info, but again technical to the point of being difficult to understand for some1 point

Several years ago I took a young man under my wing that wanted to learn how to deer hunt. One weekend we went and stayed at my grandmothers house to hunt. Tradition is there to get up kill your deer bring in the tenderloins and grandma fries them up and makes biscuits and gravy. Yeah, it is pretty awesome! So we get the deer and are finally around to breakfast when I realize this boy doesn't know how to eat biscuits and gravy. He cut a biscuit in half and used a fork to spoon a little on the biscuit and then put the biscuit back together like a gravy sandwich. After watching him for a while I finally showed him how to properly eat gravy and biscuits since it was a learning weekend and all.1 point

Just some thoughts.... Look at getting an atlas bipod For the comp also look at the JP Tactical Compensator. It makes my 308 feel like a .22. I believe you would need JPTRE-324. http://www.jprifles.com/1.4.3_tre.php Get a new trigger. I love my Jewell. For the glass it depends on how much you want to spend... Low end BSA Tactical, middle vortex, high Nighthawk. rings i recommend seekins precision but you need to know what tube your scope is (most people get scopes with 30mm tubes) Don't get the 20MOA rail unless you don't have any rail now or you plan on some long range shooting otherwise it's an unnecessary cost. You can check out my build that Middle TN Gunsmithing built and painted for me at http://s1261.photobucket.com/user/alwaysonjohn/slideshow/Rebel Its a Defiance Machine Rebel Action (based of the 700), Defiance Machine 20 MOA Rail, Lilja 1:10 Twist barrel cut down to around 24" and fluted, JP Tactical Compensator, Manners T5A with Mini Chasis, Atlas Bi-Pod, Seekins Precision Rings, Vortex Scope (loaner for the pictures), jewell trigger, multi-cam cerakote with two-tone cerakote 1 point
