I’m not going to be a willing participant in a road rage incident. I have another weapon besides a gun; a cell phone. If someone threatens me with a gun they are going to jail for felony assault.4 points

I travel the road every single day. Sometimes by bike, sometimes by car. Please, if you go, 1) Stay in your lane, 2) Use the pull offs, if someone is behind you and they were not a minute ago that means they are faster than you, using one of the 108 (really there are 108 of them) paved pull offs is the courteous thing to do. 3) Ride your own ride at a pace you are comfortable with, if your adrenaline is flowing you are pushing yourself and endangering everyone else on the road.4 points

That gives me an idea. A proper hood ornament is probably the only thing left that has not been attached to an AR. I'm thinking Mercedes as it could also be used as a front sight.3 points

The Neocons are nothing but liberal progressives hiding under the Republican banner. Benghazi is over. The man is dead and shouldn't have been put into the country while it was still a combat zone (it still is!) The IRS was doing the same things under Obama that it was doing under Bush (different targets is all!) While the Republicans play these dead issues for political currency, the country is going to crap. I left the Republican party during Bush#1, when I realized the Neocons had taken over. I am now a Conservative Independent and yes you can be a Conservative without being a Republican! There are too many critical issues that impact all of us and they are being ignored to appease the corporate "get rich on middle class tax payer money" crowd. I am not a Republican nor a Democrat. I am an American and I realized long ago that I have nothing to do with how our government is being run. The Muslims are not the greatest threat to American freedoms, the two political parties are our enemy.3 points

After nearly 5 years of my wife being our main support while I took care of my parents I am finally going back to work full time and gonna let her retire at 56! Her boss has nearly pushed her over the edge and after many trips to the ER for anxiety issues I knew that it was only a matter of time before she completely snapped. The problem was that she doesn't drive and I couldn't find anything that I could make enough money at to let her quit since I was having to find something around getting her to and from her job. That's a tough one. I have been praying that something good would happen very soon and it did. A girl at church sent me a message on Facebook and said that I should check out her company. She had been there for 12 years and is now a regional manager for 5-6 states out west but still lives here in middle Tennessee. As of 2 hours ago, I have a start date of July 8th!!! One of the benefits is that healthcare will begin after only 30 days and with all of my wife's issues, that is huge. The really good thing is that at age 56 (next month) and no degree I now have a job with a very real chance at earning a 6 figure income!!! All that I can say is "GOD IS GOOD!!!"2 points

I am a whitewater kayaker and we camp whenever we paddle. NO CELL PHONES! I like it! I hate it when I am sitting around a campfire and some Schmuck pulls out a cell phone or other electronic brain sucking device. The campfire is a tradition and electronic light boxes are the devil. I make it a point now to tell everyone that if they want to sit around my campfire, they will have to leave their "light box" behind. A campfire is for people to talk to each other, express ideas, tell stories, tell jokes. When people get to the point when they cannot do without their "light boxes" then we are doomed. DOOMED I SAY! :pleased:2 points

Yea ... I agree with you. Sounds like a story of two idiots. One who shouldn't be driving a car, and the other who shouldn't be allowed to have a gun. The gun guy really should have thought this out. Going to jail for something idiotic like this is likely to get him "tailed too closely" in a way he cares for even less than on the open road.2 points

Yeah...the Tea Party...I've been to I don't know how many rallies including the March on Washington in '09...did a lot of good didn't it! We still got Obamacare and Obama got a second term and most of the Republicans currently in the Senate and the house are just as corrupt as the Democrats. Even Tea Party darlings like Rubio have proven they aren't worth s**t and are willing to commit treason to give amnesty to 20Million criminals. I'll keep voting...probably keep donating to specific candidates but at this point I absolutely believe that this country will have a complete economic collapse...I don't need any of my degrees to figure out that inflating the money supply with trillions of completely worthless dollars and spending 140% of what you take in wont end well. I just hope I can be as prepared for it as possible before it all goes to hell in a handbasket.2 points

I have experienced the progressive underminings of citizens' rights by a tyranical government in my country of birth Venezuela. That is how they started, undermining the value of the military and having them participate in civil tasks, making them loosen their deffese of the border with Colombia and ignore FARC which is the narcogerrilla terrirosts, doing these things more and more of the true patriot military leaders either oppossed and quit or were kicked out or imprisoned. At the same time these communists led by Chavez, taught and mentored by the Castros, began arming parallell groups of militias called "Circulos Bolivarianos" who were used to terrorize the citizenry. At the same time the national guard was being purged of any opposition and given more and more power to control internal ('domestic") uprisings... through all this they made it harder and harder for the common citizen to own guns finally banning gun ownership but for a select few with influence, a lot of money or connections with the goverment and always blaming the raising crime rate for said gun control. Right now people are finally waking up and realizing the terrible damage Chaves's reign did and what his sucessors are doing, they're waking up because they are no longer blinded by the prescence of their hero. It is a critical time in the country after the current administration that took over with Chaves's death stole the elections and have been forcing all powers to legitimize it. The problem is that the opposition and the citizens who now know they are the majority have no choice but to hold peaceful protests and ask for international intervention. At all these peaceful protests a few people die, more are wounded and many imprisoned, less and less people go now in fear of what happens. The "Circulos" "Tupamaros" and other armed groups terrorize and hurt people while the national guard who act like they are not there but they ride motorcicles carrying long guns in plain flags like they were flags. less and less people will protest in the street. It is very unlikely the corrupt government will fall. 14 years going on 15... His first canpaign run was on CHANGE and the end of traditional corrupt government. I could'nt yet vote and was telling my friends not to vote for him, his associations warned us he was a communist. They all laughed at me with similar insults as your tin hat joke. This is serious. I couldn't yet vote here when I was telling all my friends about BHObama's associations, I became a citizen and voted agaist him in the second election, it's all I have done until now I am writing this... I am convinced he read Chavez's history and is following his and Castro's manual... This is serious. Before dismissing it like it were a joke let's all just look at the facts and read the history. The communists are reading the history, they know how to make us not do anything until it is too late.2 points

I know most people don't ever get to hit the woods for more than a night, but would anyone be up to a week long camp this fall/winter. I'm thinking Oct/Nov. time frame. That way its cooled off some and snakes aren't such a big worry. It would be a 7 day camp, up in the mountains near my parents place. No cell phones except for emergencies. No real modern conveniences, just a week away from the hustle, bustle and bullshit of everyday life. Anyone up for it? I am posting this way early to give people who are intrested time to iron out travel and time off from work details. Ill be going, whether its just me or enough to have our own rendezvous. Let me know if your intrested and we will get a hard date ironed out. Sent from the backwoods of Nowhere1 point

I contacted both KershawGuy and ZT to see if they had seen this before, or if they had any suggestions on possibly removing the spots. I emailed the same photo that I posted here. It's a blemish, so I didn't bother inquiring about a return or exchange. ZT responded first. They claimed to have never seen anything like it before, and were unable to suggest a way to remove the spots. I mentioned the Scotch-Brite that someone else suggested, and they said "go for it". Pretty well a waste of time. KershawGuy said that it appears to be rusting under the Tungsten DLC coating. I also mentioned the Scotch-Brite suggestion to him, and he said that would only damage the coating. While he didn't have to, and i didn't even ask, he told me to send it back for a replacement. He should have received it late last week. If he ships the new one as fast as he did the first, the replacement should be here Monday or Tuesday.1 point

Here is one I did a few years ago. It was actually very easy and only took about an hour to do. Here is another with the same kind but it was a little to gray for my area. It needed more greens. BTW, these were done with Krylon. It is the easiest to use and touch up. Once it has cured for a few weeks it is really durable. You can handle and use it the same day but is a little easy to chip.1 point

Went a couple years back, it was a good time for sure. I'd love to do it again, but I've got nothing to ride/drive that it'd be any fun in. I took my car last time. And yes, it had air ride, it wasn't static. Although it wasn't much higher than pictured when we were carving corners1 point

Proven wrong? You might want to tell that to the members of the House of Representatives because they just voted to prevent the DHS from making any more billion+ ammunition purchases without first getting the "ok" from Congress. Oh and my background is not pertinent to the discussion, I'm not even sure why Dave asked about it in the first place, except maybe to try to "one up" my resume' or some such nonsense.1 point

The pretrip is the hardest part. If you can drive, you can drive a truck. Shifting might get you if you don't know how to double clutch or float the gears. That might take some time if you can't find an automatically shifting manual to test in. The written test is easy, the driving portion is easy. The health card is all up to you, easy or not based on your health. Vision and certain health issues, such as diabetes can instantly fail you. The pretrip is a nightmare, something like 140 points they can check you on. You have to all the way around, tires, brakes, air system, fuel, etc, touching, naming and describing good or bad. My company has used a private tester for years, and that is the route I suggest if you can.1 point

Just renewed my Class A last week, and even though I'm not driving for a buck (or expect to) wanted to keep it just in case, had to get a new DOT physical to renew it. Looking at the long form they give you: - General health history questions - Vision test (using standard eye chart), but be 20/40 corrected in each eye and with both eyes. Peripheral must be at least 70 degrees - Hearing, "forced whisper" at 5 feet, they often don't mess with that if it seems to can hear okay during conversation. Can use audiometer, but most don't. - Blood Pressure, must be equal or less than 140/90 for full two year certification - Urine sample tested for specific gravity, protein, blood, and sugar, not sure what procedure is if found out of spec - General cursory body checkup, heart/lungs, mouth/throat, ears, abdominal probe, grip, balance, etc. No finger up ass or in scrotum. :) Far as the test with truck, been over 10 years ago, but back then at least it was tough to pass the pre-trip without some advance coaching, no matter how well you actually knew everything -- you have to go from back to front, explaining, touching, naming, etc, you don't just respond to questions, can't leave hardly anything out. Don't remember what original CDL cost, but renewal was $66 for 5 years, and the DOT physical was $55 for two years. I only have T endorsement (double/triple trailers) - never even hooked one up, btw, no special test for that, even written best I remember. The HazMat has turned into big whup, dropped mine after first renewal -- besides extra fee and testing, background check and whatever. - OS1 point

So DaveS question for you. You posted this in another thread: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/65835-must-a-person-take-a-butt-whoopin-before-you-pull-a-firearm/page-3 So how is it OK for you to "let the air out of them" and Zimmerman is in the wrong for doing exactly the same thing? You have acknowledged several times in this thread that Martin was on top of Zimmerman and he let the air out of Trayvon for using his hands in an aggressive manner. If it is legal for you to do it why is it now illegal for someone else to do it?1 point

I'm afraid to stay out that long. I know what will happen. ....i won't come back. It's the same reason I have told the wife we can't take a vacation to Wyoming or Montana or Alaska ETC. I know if I ever get out of here, I will make a few phone calls to my friends I have left behind. "Hey, I left some crap at my house, go get it if you want it. I won't be back for it." Seriously, I'd love nothing more than to vanish amidst a grove of evergreen trees and never come back. You boys have fun.1 point

How is that even possible? What makes calling someone something vulgar any different that using a racial slur? At any rate, y'all are nitpicking my post in order to ignore the point I made. Folks are prosecuted all the time for shooting a person in a place they have a legal right to be and aren't breaking any laws. The point I'm making here is INTENT. If your intent is to provoke an attack or violent behavior in order to use your weapon in self defense it doesn't matter how many times they bounce your head off the pavement. Nitpicking? Not only are you using poor analogies, you're also implying that you somehow had the power to read Zimmerman's mind during the time ofbthe incident. There is zero proof, anywhere, that Zimmerman had the intent to engage in a physical altercation with Martin. If I hear a noise in my backyard and go outside to investigate, this doesn't mean I am doing so with the intent to do anything other than find out what's going on. Once there, if I am put in the position to defend my life, property or family, I will take the necessary measures. There are ZERO facts to back up any claims that Zimmerman intended on physically harming Martin in any way, shape or form. None. You can presume and assume all you want, but the facts [as we know them to be] speak for themselves. If you consider him guilty, it's souly based on emotion and the fact that you may have handled the situation differently. If you are comfortable with the justice system operating in such a fashion, let's hope you are never in the position to be judged by a group of your peers who would have chosen to handle any given situation differently than yourself. Or you could convince yourself that you'd never find yourself in such position. I have no problem with someone having an opinion opposite of my own, but please back it up with some facts. Afterall, this is a situation where a man's freedom is at stake. I, for one, do not take such a situation lightly, even if I have no dog in the hunt. We also must not forget, law enforcement initially concluded that not only did Zimmerman not commit a crime when shooting Martin, he also did not commit a crime leading up to the shooting. As far as I know, they still are not claiming he was guilty of a crime leading up to the shooting. To me, it seems this case wouldn't even be going to trial, had it not been for the emotional outcry from the community. Had Martin been gunned down on his way home from the store by some gangbanger on the street corner, we wouldn't even know his name.1 point

This bullshit again?????? Here you go: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/62043-dhs-purchases-2700-light-armored-tanks/ and to save you some time (even though he went through and edited his article, the numbers haven't changed): http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2013/03/robert-farago/the-truth-about-the-dhs-mraps/ Its not 2700 vics. And it's not 1.6 Billion rounds of ammunition. That was cleared up. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/04/26/reps-challenge-dhs-ammo-buys-say-agency-using-1000-more-rounds-per-person-than/ 1.3k-ish per person? I laugh at that. Sounds like a good weekend or a pistol course or two. 350 for the Army? Sounds about right.....and thats fucking embarrassing. The only reason I'm able to shoot as much as I can is that I'm in Afghanistan.....and I'm still having trouble sourcing 9mm. 9mm in Garrison is even worse. Who falls under DHS for this training/duty ammo? CBP, ICE, Air Marshals, USSS, FLETC, Coast Guard, INS, etc. There are a lot of agencies who need to train. Don't cry foul when they ask for ammo . Its also an IDIQ contract, not a purchase order. Also, this "retired" Captain....what's his deal? I would love, love, love to read his OER's. Just reading the last entry on his bio makes me wonder: http://combatsoldier.wordpress.com/about/ He was NOT in the 82nd.1 point

If prices don't go back down I'll be finding a new hobby and keeping what I have on hand for when TSHTF. $25/100 is probably my limit for 9mm unless I'm only shooting a few times a year.1 point
