1. This happened in a little town in South Central Kansas, and even though it sounds like an Alfred Hitchcock tale, it’s true. I was on the side of the road hitchhiking on a very dark night in the middle of a terrible rainstorm, and no cars were on the road. The storm was so strong I could hardly see a few feet ahead of me. Suddenly, I saw a car come towards me and stop. Without thinking about it, I got in the car and closed the door and only then did I realize that there was nobody behind the wheel! The car started to move very slowly. I looked at the road and saw a curve coming up. Petrified, I started to pray, begging for my life. I had not yet come out of shock when, just before the car hit the curve, a hand suddenly appeared through the window and moved the steering wheel. Now paralyzed in terror, I watched how the hand appeared every time the car was approaching a curve. Finally, although terrified, I managed to open the door and jump out of the spooky car. Without looking back, I cut across country and ran through the storm all the way to the nearest town. Soaking wet, exhausted and in a state of utter shock and shaking visibly from my recent harrowing experience, I went into the first bar I came to and ordered two shots of Scotch. Then, still trembling with fright, I started telling everybody in the bar about the horrible experience I'd just gone through with the spooky car with no driver and the mysterious hand that kept appearing. Everyone in the bar listened in silence and I could see that they, too, were becoming frightened hearing my eerie story. Hair stood on end when they realized I was telling the truth because tears streaked my face and I definitely was not drunk! About half an hour later two guys walked into the bar where I was still trying to regain my wits and one pointed at me and said to the other, “Hey, there’s the sonuvabitch who jumped into the car while we were pushin it!”     :leaving:

 2. It sounds like those knives were obviously there with the intent of cleaning fish but in this case it is common sense that is getting gutted.  I am coming to believe that the zero tolerance crap is not only intended to condition the nation's youth to pee their pants any time they see anything that could remotely be a weapon but also to discourage things like hunting and fishing.  You'd think that friggin' PETA was running the country.

 4. I had an obscure part break on one of my Dillon powder measures last week.  I couldn't even see a parts breakdown to find the name of the part.  So I told them the funnel like cast piece that screws on the #2 expansion powder loading die.  Thingy, whatzit cast thing.  I got an email today saying the part was on the way.  Went out to the mailbox a few minutes later and there it was.  It's actually a "Body Collar Complete" in the rare event it breaks again.   This isn't the first time I've gone back to Dillon for a problem and their response is always the same.  Fast service, no bs replacement of anything that breaks at no cost.  It's hard to beat a warranty like that. 7. You know our Founding Fathers are probably talking among themselves asking this question. How much are you people going to take before you say NO MORE, NOT 1 MORE INCH. If you know anything about Nazi Germany, this is beginning to look very similar. You have the intelligent, well mannered people that just don't want to fight back, they are better natured than that, they prefer to use the voting polls, but this doesn't work when your opponents can constantly increase their numbers by giving them YOUR money. It makes me mad on 1 side, sick to my stomach on the other. Hussein and his Gestapo police force, park rangers and such are pushing their weight around, shutting us out of boat ramps, public parks, c'mon people wake up and smell it, if it looks like dog sh!t, smells like dog sh!t, then it probably is. Let us all make our Founding Fathers proud and vote these A$$ES out. The Founding fathers never for a moment thought there would be career politicians. They intended for someone to leave his business, work FOR their country and go back to their business. But comes along a bunch of LAZY, GREEDY, SLEAZY, LYING, THIEVING career politicians that are not working FOR their country, they are trying to destroy it and they will do as good of a job as we allow them. GO vote, encourage all your friends and family to vote, starting in your local elections, then state, then Federal we can make a difference!! GOD BLESS AMERICA!!

 9. This type of crap is really pissing me off. I think there is a fundamental problem with this "zero tolerance" bullshit and it's this:   Any time you have a government, and a school district is a government, you have three functions, Legislative - the school board, Executive - the school administration and Judicial.   Right now, in most school systems, the Judicial function is being performed by the Executive. That is a prescription for TYRANNY.   Zero Tolerance is a hateful, demagogic, tyrannical concept.   School districts need to set up an independent Judicial function. Staff it with parents or grandparents, retired administrators, and former school board members, or such.   Otherwise, stupid crap like this is going to end up in the regular court system, as our system of government calls for the opportunity for redress.

 10. It’s time to make people do their jobs. Is a kid bringing a knife to school in a fishing tackle box the same as a thug carrying his switchblade in school? No, they are not the same and should not be treated the same. Take discretion away from teachers and law enforcement and this is what you will get; zero tolerance. It sucks and it’s because some people are too lazy or scared to do their jobs. Felony my azz, the Police officers and the DA (if this kid is charged) should be ashamed.

CMT will be converting people to the TGO group this week.  Once that's done, they'll add stock, and you'll have to opportunity to complete your order by adding stuff to your cart and paying for it.   From there, it'll get made and hopefully ship in time for the holidays!   Everyone will be getting a PM once the conversion is done and ordering is ready.

 13. I built my first lower with no problems whatsoever. I picked up an excellent book by Walt something (can't remember the name offhand) and it had lots of pics along with easy to follow instructions. I'm really not that mechanically inclined, but it was super easy. I did have the right tools.....the roll pin punches and roll pin starter punches really make a difference. When it comes time to install the little springs that can launch on you, I used a big clear plastic bag (it was one of those bags that quilts and comforters come in) and although I launched the detent spring three times before I got it in right, I didn't lose it!   My advice to someone building their first lower: Don't be intimidated, get the right tools and some good instructions and you'll have a working lower in 2-3 hours. Good luck!

Of coursed it's down.   This SOB Tin-Plated-Dictator-Want-A-Be with delusions of Godhood wants to prove that HE is in control and everything our wonderful, bloated, beneficent government can give you it can take away.   Any President that will close down open-air monuments like the WW2 memorial (that was built entirely with private contributions IIRC) is capable of doing ANYTHING to get his way because he is nothing but spoiled little brat who has never grown up and he has to get his way.

 16. From experience I can agree that cracking off a couple rounds inside a vehicle without ear pro is something you will remember forever. But imagine from a LEO and potentially a jury's perspective when you try to explain that you were in fear for your life......oh and for my hearing too. Having time to put ear pro in, or even slip on a pair of handy muffs, in any SD situation short of a zombie apocalypse just doesn't play right.   On that topic, I think it bears remembering how the train wreck of the Zimmerman case played out.  The prosecution grasped at anything they could to demonize what most of us would consider somewhat "normal".  They tried to turn his very limited Martial Arts training into him practically being a Ninja, despite his instructor saying that he sucked. They tried to make his handgun out to be a death dealing machine because it "gasp" had no safeties, despite it being a mediocre Kel-Tek that many would not even rely on for defensive purposes. While I 100% agree with the adage "it's better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6", I think that its especially important in this day and age to keep in mind the perception you set up for yourself should the need ever arise.    While I would be much more comfortable having my AR, shotgun, and several reloads for each in my car every time I have to venture toward Nashville, I realize that {for now} the likelihood of me needing those does not outweigh the likelihood of me getting in a SD shoot with my carry handgun and having the fact that I had said weapons in my vehicle escalate the situation into something beyond a simple SD case.  I'm not saying I like it, condone it, or even understand it, I'm just saying that's todays reality. Now a situation at your home is entirely different, electric fences and piranha filled moats should be the norm.   In response to the OP's inquiry, I suffice with 7+1 in my carry gun, a mag of 7 in my off hand front pocket, and a mag of 10 in a "custom cut" piece of foam in my driver's door map pocket. The foam keeps the spare mag in place and oriented correctly for a fast reload. And remember your vehicle is also a 3,000lbs or more self defense tool.   The silver lining of this biker punk fiasco in New York is that it has started some national dialogue among the sheep and the prepared alike.  Now that most people have seen what these groups are capable of and willing to do, the statement "in fear for my life" might mean something.  And hopefully the ass clown that bashed in the driver's window (and those that would consider similar actions) realize that in most other states he would now have a canoe for a head....

 17. Well it's October and that means Halloween and that also means Ghost Stories.   I'm not much of a believer in the idea that when a person dies their soul can remain here on Earth.  Being raised in a Christian home, my belief is that people have one of two destinations when they die and remaining on Earth isn't one of them.   That being said, I find it intriguing that there are plenty of cases where "ghosts" seem to be actually a documented phenomena.  Whether they are human souls or something else, I'm curious how many folks here have ever had a ghostly experience of their own.   Share your stories?  Or share stories you've heard?

Etc.   I would like to suggest to him that he'd get more credence regarding his mentions of "marshal" law if he'd use the proper word, but I know it won't take. :) :)   - OS

 23. The only current source I know of for buying crates of Mosins is Classic Firearms in NC.  They are getting $2600 as of now, figure $150 minimum to ship and you are looking at $137.50 per rifle.  If you don't have a C&R there will be transfer and background fees as well from your transferring dealer, assuming you can find one who would bother (for a reasonable sum) to do the paperwork for 20 rifles going to different buyers.  Most of the internet retailers (Classic, AIM, J&G, etc.) are offering single rifles for $125-175 depending on the type and variant.  In addition, the big box stores are also running sales on these again, so the price differential is somewhat negligible between a single purchase and multiple sales.  Why go through the hassle of a group buy?  Also, most people with C&R licenses would be very hesitant to participate in such a buy, as it's very possible to run afoul of ATF regs if not done right.  If you are looking for a buy from an individual, Armslist is probably your best bet, as they come up frequently there, usually nearby, and the prices asked have fallen dramatically in recent months as folks have begun to realize that the sky hasn't quite fallen yet.  I can't see any good reason to get involved in a group buy for Mosins, but I can think of many why it's a bad idea.

The best Glock ever is the Glock 7...  The only downside to this amazing weapon is the price, which is quite expensive.  Experts say that they cost more than the Dulles International Airport Police Chief makes in a month.   J/K...  The best Glock ever is the Ruger SR9c.  Made in America, by Americans, working for an American owned company.  /trollololol

 26. I'll ask the rhetorical question again; why the hell does anyone still have their kids in public schools?  Here, there or anywhere?   The people who do have kids in public schools are going to have to take it upon themselves to politely bur firmly say to this crap, not just no but HELL NO.   If this panty-wetting crap of suspending kinds and/or charging them with serious crimes over drawing a picture of a gun or using your fingers as a pretend gun and fishing gear or playing with an play gun in the kid's own damn yard is beaten back there will be no stopping the inundation of this stuff that will overtake your kinds and this country.

 38.
Ignore my initial statement about eventually getting a suppressor. Let's assume the only thing to be attached to the end of the barrel will be a Noveske KX3 (pig), if that even changes anything. The idea of going with a pistol is to keep it as small as possible. Something that will easily fit into a backpack would be nice. Reliability is also important, of course. Has anyone with a 8.5" or 9" barrel noticed any issues with ammo? I would like the ability to use subs to supers, if at all possible. Am I asking and expecting too much?
Honestly, with pistol length gas, adjustable block, AND a pig, you should be able to shoot any length you want that's commercially available. (Even without the pig, but gas block might need more adjusting) I would look at all available. Core15 - 9.5" Noveske - 8.2" Alpha Shooting Sports - 8.1" CMMG - 8.5" AAC - 9" Rainier Arms - 8.5" (several options) Availability varies, some are in stock, some aren't. Also if you buy a Noveske it should come with a non-adjustable block, but should run both subs and suppers (according to them), I'd put a pig on just for added pressure (and looks :D)

 39.  I typed this out yesterday but I guess I never hit "post".    I talked to the folks at The OK Corral yesterday about any possible area closures on the 19th. I told her that a group of folks from the gun forum I am part of would like to come out but were concerned that groups could have parts of the places rented out, She said that they had nothing on the calender for that day and went ahead and marked it down that we would be coming so that nothing would be scheduled. She asked if I wanted her to reserve us anything in particular but since I figured folks would be shooting pistols, shotguns and rifles I told her I didn't think so but she did tell me that if I changed my mind to just come by or give her a call. If anyone thinks we need to have anything reserved then please let me know and I will get in touch with her but she said that Saturdays are very much less crowded than Sundays, especially if we came out in the morning.    I got to do a bit of shooting with Sonny and a couple of his friends and asside from it being unseasonably hot for October we had a good time. Enjoyed meeting you fellas and look forward to meeting more of you on the 19th.

 43. The Affordable Care Act itself states that the IRS cannot file a lien on a property because an uninsured person fails to pay a penalty. Nor can it seize bank accounts or garnish paychecks to recover Obamacare fines. Nor will Americans who refuse to pay for mandatory health insurance be subject to criminal prosecution of any kind.

 44. Concealed carry and high capacity do not go well together. I keep an M&P 40 and an extra mag in the car regardless of what I’m carrying.   However, since you are concerned about the motorcycle attack I will offer by 2 cents on that. The best weapon may not always be a gun, especially if you have your wife and children with you. The victim in the bike attack rendered the best weapons he had (his vehicle and cell phone) useless when he took that exit ramp. I’m sure he was scared, but he let that fear cause him to lose situational awareness and defensive thinking.   He had already shown the bikers that he would not hesitate to run over their sorry azzes if they attacked him. So as long as he was moving on that highway he was safe; they weren’t going to get in front of him. He exited and put himself in a traffic jam; his vehicle was no longer a weapon; it was rendered useless.   Would a gun have done him any good? We don’t know, but if you have a large group of people after you in a carry state like Tennessee and you start shooting people; I would bet rounds would be inbound. While we are all 10 foot tall and bullet proof our wives and children are not.   I don’t blame the guy for being scared; but he had a better weapon than a gun and he panicked and gave it up. I think that’s the lesson to ponder here.

 45.   Just catching on, I see.   Think of it as a sin tax, the sin being not having insurance.   As usual, though, I don't see how they can collect it from anyone who doesn't pay taxes. Surely they wouldn't actually take it from any type welfare payment, eh?   - OS

 46. I did some digging on the tax/fine if you don't want nor have health insurance and this is what I found on the Govt site. Based on a $100,000.00 yearly gross income. The fine/tax is 1% of your gross income for the first year. $100,000.00 x 0.01% would be $1,000.00 to the tax/fine! The second year will be 2.5% of your gross yearly income. $100,000.00 x 0.025% would be $2,500.00 to the tax/fine! I've not been able to locate the fine/tax for the 3rd year and beyond. But if it keeps increasing, you will eventually find it cheaper to buy health insurance. Keep in mind, this buys you absolutely ZERO health insurance and no subsidized Govt coverage. It is just that, a fine/tax and you're still 100% financially liable for any medical costs you incur. If you do not pay it, they will take it directly from your tax return if you have overpaid on your taxes, or they'll add the negative balance to your return and you'll owe the IRS that amount. That is my understand via the Govt HC site. Welcome to being taxed/fined or forced to buy something just for living and being an American citizen!

But they have a lion above the crown. These either have no lion or it is covered by the jacket flap. And, again - wrong side. Unless....they belong to an American (or other) who earned them in UK. Foreign wings go on right side. Edited to add, with Oh Shoots contribution I'm guessing we can call this one busted?
