2. I was just waiting for this guy to be named Leonard Embody.....   I think we need to walk a fine line as gun owners in what we do with our guns. Legally, we definitely can open carry, and should be our right to. I just don't see the point of doing it if you're only doing so to to prove a point and/or freak out the public. Doesn't help our case as responsible gun owners.    I carry my weapon to defend my person and loved ones, not to make a statement.

 3.    Capitalist (scalpers) aside the next thing I can think of causing the shortage is that before all this craziness started most folks would go buy a bulk pack for plinking and then when they started to run low they would grab another next time they were out and about but no one is doing that by choice now. Those same people rather than having a bulk pack on hand will buy any they see because they aren't sure that they will be able to find it when they do need more. So now the same people that were buying say, one box per month are now buying 2,3,4 or however many they have the chance to. So even if you don't count all the new .22 owners that bought guns due to the Obama & pals reaction to Sandy Hook (LOTS & LOTS), the demand has gone up 300-400% but the manufacturers and still only capable of producing the same or slightly more. Most manufacturers I would assume don't want to put a large amount of their funds into new equipment and facilities to ramp up production for what is likely not a permanent level of demand. I would say that demand will be permanently higher than it was before Sandy Hook because of the great number of new firearms sold and new gun owners BUT,, not it will eventually drop back down to a more permanent level and my guess would be, that's when the manufacturers will start adding capacity to suit.

 4. Many thanks to Dolomite for the firearms related item that he gave to me as a gift...and paid to ship it to me! Really made me feel good that there was a fellow gun enthusiast, that freely gave something, and didn't expect anything in return! Just proves that there still are some generous people, that will do something nice for someone else, just to do it without any personal profit motive. Thank you Dolomite...and if we're ever at one of my lunch places, at the same time, lunch is on me. Here's wishing you and yours the very best for the New Year ahead of us. Sidewinder

 5. How to hunt a SEAL? Rig up one of them Loony Toons style traps and bait it with HGH, UDT shorts, sun tan lotion and a mirror. You'll end up trapping a whole SEAL platoon inside of a day.

 6.   Or, we need to get past the idea that doing something legal is a crime anyway because it offended or startled someone.

 7.   We've really got to get past the idea that there's a loophole to justify the lack of common sense every time someone does something legal but stupid.  If it was inventory, it could have and should have been cased or cartoned.

 9. The same goes with Shipping Wars.  I don't have cable but caught this show while visiting my mother.  Being in the transportation business, this is not how it works.  Scripted TV at it's worst.  Gives a bad name for the true professionals out on the road.

 16.       Exactly! It took me a little while last year to settle in on the fact that it is indeed the growth of the shooting population that is responsible for a large percentage of the shortage and then next biggest cause (like I mentioned above) is US! All of us regular/frequent shooters need to have far more ammo on hand to achieve the same comfort level than we did 1 1/2yrs ago. Those two things could be having about the same effect or even backwards from how I listed but bottom line is, New shooters and seasoned shooters carry the bulk of the shortage "burden" on their shoulders. The thing is (and I don't like seeing the same guys lined up at Wal Mart everyday either) it is human nature to need somebody or something to blame it on, it's somewhat of a coping mechanism and I think this is more where the "scalpers" and even the government fall into the grand scheme.  I do believe the government was intentionally causing supply issues ( :tinfoil: ) when all this started but that has either slowed or they've learned to be a lot more discreet.    With a government that is constantly grasping, ripping and clawing away at our gun rights (and all rights for that matter) I for one see that the benefit of such a HUGE growth to the shooting base and the fact that it makes each of our voices louder outweighs the negatives such as having to search or even cut back the amount of .22lr one shoots. Once the demand levels off to an honest altitude, the ammunition manufacturers will rise to me that demand. How long that will take, who knows, but i'm guessing that they are following everything very closely to try to figure out when the trends mellow out and turn into something that they can count on to provide them a good return on the investment in new equipment. I load pretty much every round I shoot so buying ammo isn't something that I find myself in the habit of doing unless I happen to be somewhere and notice fairly price .22lr so my opinion may not matter a bit to anyone else but I myself was so busy looking for someone or something to blame last year that I overlooked the magnitude of the new and seasoned shooters.

 17.   If it continues like the first episode, it may be closer to the first season in action and its wry humor. It felt a little more like the orginal Raylan last night.   Since you didn't see it, the little redhead Wendy, is the gal who played Cybil's daughter on the show Cybil a few years back. The smart-mouthed little teenager. But she has grown up to be a smart-mouthed Crowe now.

 32. Meanwhile;     1/8/14 Thanks for getting in touch with me and letting me know what’s on your mind regarding the future of our country.   President Obama has laid out a blueprint for a very different kind of America – one with less freedom, more government, more taxes, more spending, more borrowing. It’s an America that our children and grandchildren will have difficulty affording. We’re on track to double the national debt in five years and triple it in ten years. That’s why I opposed the president’s budget as well as the so-called stimulus that will add a trillion dollars in new debt over the next ten years.   I will continue to work hard in the Senate to get things done for Tennesseans. I’ll support our president when he’s right and oppose him and come up with a better idea when he’s wrong. Senators on this side of the aisle don’t need new principles and don’t need to hire a PR firm. We need to turn the principles we believe in into solutions that affect Americans on an everyday basis – solutions on energy prices, health insurance, helping to balance the family budget, boosting the economy, and keeping spending under control.   I’m grateful you took the time to let me know where you stand, and I’ll be sure to keep your comments in mind as these issues are discussed in Washington and in Tennessee.   Sincerely, Lamar     I complained to Lamar many times and as you may know whatever you put in the topic line you'll get some form letter regardless of your comments, even if you write "Time to retire, I'm voting Joe Carr".

 37. If you want a real challenge, use a Longbow :)   But yes, with a .22 you just need to be fairly still. This time of year you can go for hours without seeing any though. Where I hunt they get really active about 45 minutes before sunset. But the last days of deer season I was only seeing maybe 10 or so and they were mostly outside of (MY) Bow range.   But with a .22 they would have been easy targets.

 38. I asked a walmart associate at my walmart if they were randomizing their ammo stocking... She was not a sporting goods regular and had no idea what I was talking about. Oh well. On a bright note: federal .223, 55gr 100rds for $38.97 (tax included) I haven't seen federal 55gr in a local store for under 40c in a long time.

 42.     They have doubled down on that now.   They treat the kids themselves like terrorists now if they wear a pro-gun, pro-2A, NRA shirts, or even draw a gun and/or play like a cowboy. They interrogate them and even have hauled some off to juvenile. So they're not just telling them Daddy is an evil bad man for owning guns, they're also instilling the anti-gun-rights in them through fear and punishment. That really instills in them that guns are bad!   I've said it before, but if folks don't get back in to being involved in the education system, etc., the left-wing will continue to take control of the curriculum and before long, they'll be turning out little socialists who hate guns and the constitution, etc.

 45. at this time we (republican parts) do not have anybody to run.  the news has beat down everybody that can run and could beat hillary.  the republican party is split and that is what the other side wants.  no matter whom runs, they will find something bad, i.e., like they said something bad/the bad word, 40 years ago and/or had a made up affair 50 years ago while in high school.  then the person running will get off track and lose.  we need a person that has back bone, a person to stand up a call a spade a spade.  can i say that now?  a person that has a simple plan and tell his plan to the 50% of the people that are paying the bills for the other 50% freeloaders.  the low information voter will vote for the person that gives them free stuff and don't ask them to work.

 46.
What makes you think that Tennessee is going to have you stand in line to register firearms? Ask the question in the way it would go down. Would you be willing to be arrested, cuffed in front of your family, hauled off to jail, convicted of a felony, and lose the ability to legally own any guns? Do you work? Would you be able to keep your job with a felony conviction or still have it after spending time in jail? Do you have a family to support? It’s easy to say what you would do when you are sure you won’t have to make those decisions. I would comply with the law and work to change it. I already played the game of non-compliance. It was one of the stupidest things I ever did in my life. I was cuffed and stuffed and taken to trial. Luckily I had the money to afford lawyers that got me out of it without a conviction showing. Would I do it again? Absolutely not. No one helped me including the dirt bags at the NRA. You will be on your own. And you? Since we are safely playing “What if” about a scenario that will never happen in this state; what would have us believe you would do?
You didn't ask me but I will give you an answer anyways. I have a list (we should all have a list) when that day comes to TN (and it will) I will start checking names off of that list until the government checks my name off of one of their lists.

 47.   Oh, if you mean just guns, even though Christie would probably just as soon have all US gun laws like NJ, (which he calls "about right") he wouldn't kick the whole GOP in the balls to do it. And he'd be as good a player in the fiscal/entitlement mess as Mitt would have been, maybe even better. Not to mention he's as likely to call 'em as he sees 'em as any pol in many a year. Might be a quite refreshing change in the areas of military and foreign policy, too.   Hillary gets in, you'd see a lot of the stuff BHO would like to do actually done, and more that he hasn't even thought of. Because she's actually smarter and more ruthless. And between her and Slick Willy, know where the skeletons are, and can call in favors from more powerful people, too.   I see quite a significant diff in the admins of the two, myself. The only reason I mention Christie still as possibly changing parties is that his ego and ambition might possibly override any semblance of actual conservative ideology.   At any rate, you'll not see what anyone here calls a "true conservative" in the White House in 2017, you can bet the farm on that.   - OS
