So this is our new pup Gus. My wife went and picked him up today. He is a Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog, say that three times fast, and was 7 weeks as of Thursday. Him and Lilly are already acting like best buds already too. First thing she did was bring him her prized toy and drop it right in front of him.3 points

Guys, let's be a little more tactful and a lot less destructive in the way we word thread titles. Brian is a partner in Nashville Armory, not the sole owner of. There's also no reason to sensationalize a headline on a thread like this when the shop in question is one of our biggest supporters. They've got enough on their plate to worry about without a TGO member crafting a thread title that paints the shop in a bad light because of something a part-owner is going through. Lastly, the guy is innocent until proven guilty.3 points

Anybody that has an in to getting Constitutional Carry passed in this legislative session let me know, I will bow and genuflect to your vast superior powers of persuasion. They evidently have more money than Fed Ex, Volkswagen, Amazon and Pilot all combined. I look forward to riding their coattails to victory. For the rest of us who live in the real world, and know the leadership of both houses of Congress in TN, and the fact that the Chamber is the largest purchaser of legislators in TN, (and the US) we understand that the road to Constitutional Carry is not one of instant gratification, just because it is the correct thing. It only took 125 years to get Shall Issue Permits in TN under the political system we have from "only the Sheriff's buddies can carry legally".2 points

Harvey Weinstein is a self-aggrandizing, deluded, narcissistic fool; and Meryl Streep aint far behind.... Let him (... and them...) spend all his (...their ....) money on this foolishness... Who cares what he thinks or does.... The hollywood trash that populates the left coast and new york shouldnt worry anyone... He may not have found out yet; but they dont run anything but the democrat party; and that may be over pretty soon... noncaring leroy2 points

This is an awesome pic Dolomite and Sour Kraut. That is a beautiful puppy. And I can almost smell that "puppy breath". :pleased: We too are hard core animal lovers, dog lovers especially. And ours sleep with us as well, and we wouldn't want it any other way. We gain more from them than we could ever give. They are truly a Blessing. Congratulations guys. :up:2 points

Thanks, I have internet here at my family's place but the camp we're going to doesn't have a residence on property so we'll be in a camper. Myaybe there will be enough cell service to update as we go and more importantly than cell service, here's hoping that there is something to update about :x:2 points

Well I'm bringing this thread back until Wed. or Thurs. Another TGO member and myself have traveled to FL (we're staying with my grandparents and hunting land that my family settled way back when) to work some deer over and possibly some hogs if we're lucky. We got down here late last night and went out and hung stands for this morning. I saw nothing this morning and Tim had a doe sprint out of the woods, make a turn and never checked up. I took one this evening as we were headed in from the blind so we won't be coming home empty handed no matter how the rest of the trip goes. We'll hunt here tomorrow and again Monday morning before leaving to meet Tim's dad at a deer camp 45min - an hour east of here and hunt there until Thursday. My goal was to come home with at least 4 deer between the two of us so hopefully we'll meet and (fingers crossed) exceed that goal. Cell service was poor(actually non existent) and my cell battery was dead but i'll try to do better taking pictures of anything we a fortunate to take. There are hogs getting really close to my family's property but so far have only been spotted once on a trail cam so I figure as fast as they multiply we'll be seeing them with some sort of regularity in the next few years. My cousin has killed a few within 2-3 miles of here so they are awful close and part of me is excited to get the chance at them but the other part dreads it because of the damage they are responsible for. The place that we are headed to on Monday has hogs move through often but is not overrun with them so i'm hoping we get a chance to take a couple while we're there.2 points

Quite frankly, I couldnt care if something is "illegal" or not. There are too many damn laws on the books now. If its unsafe I may report to whoever but not unless.2 points

You'd think a man named Weinstein would know better. Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it, and all that.2 points

http://www.capitol.tn.gov/Bills/108/Bill/HB1667.pdf "As introduced, protects the right of a person to transport and store a firearm or firearm ammunition in a privately owned vehicle; prevents any owner, lessee or manager of real property from taking adverse action against a person transporting or storing a firearm or ammunition; creates a civil cause of action for damages" Expands the definition of personal property to "mean any item that is lawfully owned or possessed by a person and includes, but is not limited to, firearms or firearm ammunition." States that "An individual who is lawfully in possession of a motor vehicle or an occupant of a motor vehicle may transport and store in such motor vehicle any item of personal property." Hopefully, action on McCormick's inferior measures will be delayed in the House until this one can be considered.1 point

I feel like I hit the lotto! I literally was in the middle of setting up my Benefactor and iPad crapped out. When I got my other out, I saw this and thought yeah right, I'll never get that but looks like I'm the lucky one! Guess I'm off to the pay it forward thread to add my own goodies for someone else to use! Thanks TDR!!!1 point

I'm really kind of curious to find out what you are doing to make all that happen? ;) It's rather easy for any of us to pontificate about what should be done and complain about what hasn't been done but getting it done takes real work (and complaining about things on the Internet form is not The kind of work I'm talking). I mean no offense to you or anyone else...it's just been my observation that we have quite a few here on TGO who like to complain about what the NRA or the TFA is doing and/or how they are going about it...complain that what they think these or other groups should be spending their resources on isn't getting attention or that we need to do some kind of massive surge to overturn all existing infringements yet they often don't even belong to or help the groups they chastise and likely have never written an email (much less an actual letter) or gone to a town hall meeting or called a senator or representative to let their opinions be known. If you think the parking lot issue is unimportant that's fine. But try to understand that most people in this state work for an employer and have to commute to work - for many people, the majority they spend anywhere is commuting to/from work and for those people, being able to keep their legally owned and legally carried firearm in their personal vehicle while it's parked in a parking lot is pretty important...comments like "they should just go work for someone else" does nothing to bring 2A supporters together on the issues they DO agree on.1 point

Just a heads up, there are some free classes in Dandridge every Saturday. The classes are hosted at Fort Hope in Dandridge by a couple knowledgeable people and cover several topics. The first Saturday the B.O.B. was discussed. Last Saturday we talked about bugging in. This next Saturday we'll be talking about fire making methods. Eventually they'll get to water, shelters, and eventually possibly weapons. The said they were planning on having a CPR AED certification class there as well as a HAM license class/test. It's supposed to be a 8 week course... Just passing it on. You can find the group on Meetup.com under Eastern Tennessee Preppers...1 point

I worry more about zombies than nuclear explosions. I don't have the money or resources to build anything close to what it would take to survive one. I have a some NBC gear to wear for fall out, but other than that..mehh. I'm through worrying about things I am powerless to deal with. Is this concerning, hells yes. Terrifying? Not me.1 point

The Firearm Freedom acts are winding their way through the federal court system right now (thanks to Montana's AG)... We'll have to wait and see how those cases work out. So those letters from the BATFE are being challenged in court as we speak. My guess is that SCOTUS will side with the Feds, but we could be surprised. The truth is the Feds can't enforce the laws they have on the books now without the help of the local police departments... This bill would remove the ability of any government employee in TN from helping in anyway shape or form to enforce federal firearm laws... and would carry criminal as well as civil risk for any employee that violated the law. In my post, I never suggested the Fed couldn't arrest somebody for having an illegal 30 round magazine... just that it would be really hard on them without any help whatsoever... They would end up convicting some folks, but with no help whatsoever from locals it would be really hard... How exactly do you find out somebody is stockpiling illegal firearms and/or magazines if no employee of the government can help you? We already have SCOTUS rulings that say the federal government can't compel the state to enforce federal law... so this law wouldn't violate federal supremacy, it just prevents TN government employees from enforcing the federal law, and provides for criminal and civil liabilities if they violate state law. That would stand up in federal court, we can look at other examples of this where it already has. So yes, they'd be able to convict some folks, but it would drastically limit how many. You still haven't answered my question, if arrested where do those people sit for the 2 years it takes for the feds to place them on trial? The Feds have nowhere to hold them without help from local authorities. I don't break the law Dave - at least knowingly - so I'm not worried about the feds showing up and arresting me... I have no interest in being a test case.... but I do like provisions in the law that place criminal and civil liabilities on government workers that violate state law... and provisions that allow me to bypass the local DA and force action on those violations of state law. Frankly, I think we should just pass this law today on all federal enforcement... prohibit with felony charges any state employee from aiding the feds in any criminal case... if they want to charge people let them do all the work themselves. You know my opinion, this is all going to end badly sooner or later, might as well get it started and over with sooner rather than later.1 point

You can't go by that number. I've been pro-Carry, but I've only had my carry permit maybe 3 months. My sister is pro-carry, but she doesn't even own a gun; she doesn't need once since she is always with an armed family member. Anyway.... Maybe you'll get the "progressive" nature of what the TFA is doing. :up:1 point

Incrementally we chip away at the control by legislators of our ability to keep and bear arms. Each step we gain means we can point back and say that the inroad last gained did not result in "blood in the streets". The Constitution of the State of Tennessee at this present time still allows the power by law vested in the legislators to regulate the wearing of arms, we can thank the Democrats in charge in 1870 for that (and the Republicans in charge now for not doing the correct thing in giving us back our Rights). Doing nothing results in nothing.1 point

I really enjoy history as well. It's funny that I didn't give a rat's rump about it in school when they were trying to shove it down my throat, but now that I'm left to my on devices to discover historical facts, I find it fascinating. Thanks for sharing it with us.1 point

Here's the deal... Obama is all butt hurt because he didn't get his way with gun control. He blames everybody but himself. My avatar memorializes that day. Now, all his Hollywood buddies are scrambling to his aid because the NRA KICKED HIS ASS. Once again, the Divider in Chief works his magic. I'm just waiting for the day when those folks realize that THEY, not the cops or military will have to come and get the guns themselves. I'm not saying that I'll shoot a fat man right here on the Interwebz, so y'all will just have to speculate what will happen when he comes waddling up my sidewalk.1 point

I’m from the government and I’m here to help you. Most of the people I know and work with don’t have HCP’s; they are just normal citizens. Maybe when our legislators and the TFA get done playing games with this parking lot silliness they can spend some time on some real pro-gun legislation that would help those people carry instead of trying to make it appear they are doing something.1 point

Just like the 55MPH limit states will comply or their federal funding will be cut. We need a group of states to reject Obama Care; that could work. I doubt you will see much on gun laws unless the Feds pass something. A state can say they refuse to recognize the NFA; but that won’t help you if you are in Federal custody. Tennessee passed the TFFA and it hasn’t been tried.1 point

I wouldn't be surprised if it passes, but will be blown away if it is ever enforced. Washington D.C. knows all they have to do is to drag a dollar under the noses of our local politicians and they'll fall right in line. This is for show only.1 point

"Exempt Personal Firing Range: A location where a person may engage in target firing or plinking (at non game targets) with legal firearms on his own property or on the property of another with the consent of its property owner or lessee for persons of no more that three (3) consecutive days per month or five (5) total days per month, not exceeding 200 rounds of ammunition per person, per day." This appears to be the amended ordinance for Montgomery County. It would be worth checking your county to see if there are any restrictions on shooting on your property. Also, Montgomery County has on the books, "zoning and nuisance" laws which shooting would fall under. Land use and Zoning Restrictions must also meet noise control requirements depending on where the property is located and how zoned. If your property is Zoned "Residential" beware, even if living in the county! The Sheriff Deputy told me wrong at 300 rounds per month. Its been a couple years and that may have been the case at one time but has apparently been changed.1 point

I've run Linux Mint on a Compaq Presario V2000, AMD processor. Runs just fine, no problems installing. Just make sure you get the AMD version. I installed it on a separate drive, and can change from Windows to Linux by swapping drives. Running XP at the moment because the weather station software I need to run is a windows app. You should be able to install both OS's on a single drive. Make sure that Windows is the first OS installed, then install the linux distro of your choice in a new partition. If GRUB works correctly (not always a given), you should get a startup menu where you can choose your OS for the session. I've installed dual-boot several times, most of the time it works just fine.1 point

You can down load a distro and just boot to cd and see if everything works okay before an entire install.1 point
