1. I wish we lived in a time where businesses weren't pressured to take a stand on an issue, then judged on which side of the issue they chose to stand on. I wish they could just sell stuff and people could be happy with that. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

 6. Ever since my first Savannah St Patty's day, I've been under the impression that the purpose was to celebrate being drunk, motor boating the boobs of total strangers, being drunk, wearing cheap green trinkets and exchanging said trinkets for the sight of bare breasts, vomiting, public urination and awkward drunken sex with college chicks. I'll be damned if the queers are gonna come in and ruin the sanctity of a holiday that has such a rich, sanctimonious history. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

 7. I bought a case of Wolf x39 from AIM, just because they love me and send me emails saying as much.   Probably could have got it a cent or two cheaper if I had looked but I like to return the love.   I am near a lifetime supply of it,  and of course if a shooting war broke out all I would need is two mags full.  After that I imagine I will be buzzard food anyway.   Just doing my part.   And fwiw AK's rule!

 16. Speaking from a US airspace perspective only:   There are several valid reasons why the transponders have an "off" switch.  On the ground at or near busy airports, it's often done to reduce the noise and clutter which is inherent to the system.  General aviation aircraft often fly with the transponders off when flying "VFR" in order to not have the hassle of dealing with the ATC system for pleasure or low level flights, this is of course not applicable to airliner operations.  In addition, the system sometimes breaks down, the signals get confused on the radar screens, the altitude info is wrong or conflicting from the encoders, or maybe the transmitter just has a "crash" and needs resetting, this requires turning the power off and then back on, it's usually done at the request of the controllers but may be initiated by the pilots to clear up issues.   As for "blips" showing up on radar without the transponder functioning, the whole purpose of the transponder is to help identify, locate and follow the "blips".  Primary radar coverage is very spotty, targets are often hard to see and harder to follow, impossible to identify without the use of the transponder.  There are many areas right here in the US where radar coverage is spotty or non-existent, some of these areas are found in Tennessee as well, especially at lower flight levels.  Even with transponders working, pilots are sometimes asked to "ident", that's a switch which boosts the transponder output temporarily to help the controllers find an aircraft on their screens.  Every one of these examples has occurred to me while flying recreationally in Tennessee; over the oceans in less-developed areas those types of problems are probably worse.   Transponders, aviation radar, aircraft navigation and the aircraft traffic control system are poorly understood by the non-flying public, that's completely understandable.  What's different in this situation is that the newscasters don't understand it either, and seem willfully obtuse in their comprehension despite numerous attempts by knowledgeable people to answer questions like "why can the transponders be turned off"?  After a week, the same reporters are still asking the same questions on air, adding to the confusion of the listeners in their attempt to create controversies where none exist.

The fact is that the gubmt is above the law because it enforces the law; and to think otherwise is foolish... Nowadays there is no place that is safe from this scourge... Look at the CIA hacking of the Senate... The only fix is to clean out the whole bunch; bureaucrats, apparatchiks, and elected ones "en masse"; which most likely aint gonna happen...   leroy the isolationist

AquAdvantage salmon is a product of the Massachusetts-based biotech firm AquaBounty Technologies. Designed to reach market size in about half the time of standard farmed salmon, the fish would be the first genetically engineered animal approved for human consumption. Producers say the salmon is safe to eat, environmentally friendly and can feed more of the population with less resources, compared to other farmed fish."   I wont be eating any!

 25. I've lived in NY twice and will never find out if they "third time's a charm". Went there once in the Army with the 10th Mountain Division in Ft Drum for almost 4 years and a second time to run a plant between Buffalo and Rochester. Agree that most people in the rural areas of the upstate are very similar to southerners, 'cept y'all talk funny ;) I've also had the pleasure of living in both middle and east TN, and will soon give it a shot out in west TN. In all, I've lived in more states than most will ever visit, and TN is the best of em all. Good luck!

 26. I'm in St. Cloud MN at a Walmart right now out in the truck waiting to deliver a load in the morning. I took a stroll through the sporting goods section earlier and they had tons of 9mm and .45. I scored one box of Federal 550 at Gander Mountain in Amarillo last week. One good thing about going all around the country I guess.

 31.
That'll make you a few enemies I bet.
It's a good thing. The bug in their website did not magically manufacture more 22 ammo, it only allowed you to see it as in stock and pay for it, even after it was out of stock. Yes, a few people will say "it worked for me and I got my ammo" but those were the lucky few that ordered quick enough while the ammo was really still in stock. If you want to be sure, just search for the ammo on their site the normal way, if it doesn't show up then they are sold out.

 33. Especially when you compare it to a membership over at Blade Forums.   I thought about listing my Woodard Combat Auto on forums where the focus is on knives, so I checkout out BladeForums.com.   Now, I've been happily purchasing a Benefactor Membership on TGO for years, until recently going with the Lifetime membership. I don't have an issue with supporting a site that offers a service that I need, but $60 per year?  :stunned:  If I was going to be selling several high-end knives, it would possibly be worth it, but that's not the case right now.   While not nearly as active, I listed it on KnifeForums.com. They charge $1 per sale or trade, and it's on the honor system. I thought that was a neat idea, assuming the members are honorable. If it sells on KF, I'll gladly donate $10-$20 for their services that I'll likely use only one time, but I can't swallow $60.

 36. I am PADI certified advanced diver. I have not done much salt water diving, due to being in TN, but I have done quite a lot of diving in Dale Hollow lake. It's a really nice lake, with 60 + foot visibility, since the corp of engineers owns most of the land around it. It has been 15 years since I dove there, buy at the time, they had 2 or 3 dive shops on the lake. The most interesting diving I got to do was at the Chattanooga aquarium, as a volunteer diver. Got to dive the gulf tank and the Nickojack tank to feed the fish. Nothing like diving with an audience.

 37. I guess I am lucky.  None of that has ever bothered me.  Line up the sights, focus up front and fire.  Shots go on target.   I actually prefer to practice point shooting.  That and aiming without sights.  I might not his the bulleye, but i hit center mass at a reasonable distance.

 38. My guess is that it's either the carb not putting out fuel, or the spark timing is off. If you're getting spark and the carb was bad, the starter fluid should have given you at least one or two good bangs/puffs though. If the timing is off, it'll either not start, backfire, or kickback. Try pulling the flywheel & look at the spindle that it slides over. If there's a key, make sure it's not bent or sheared. If there's just a spline or a milled flat, make sure there's no damage or excessive rotational play when the flywheel is on there. Check the inside of the flywheel as well for damage.   A buddy of mine had a string trimmer that wouldn't start for anything. He finally pulled the flywheel & reinstalled it. Started right up. It wouldn't stay fixed, though. Best we could figure was that the flywheel just wouldn't stay in place & eventually fell out of timing again.   One other thing: pull the muffler & try starting it again with starter fluid (watch your eyes & ears). I've heard of mufflers becoming obstructed from excessive oil and/or extended running at low throttle (where the muffler is not hot enough to burn off the exhaust oil), or from rust / bugs / whatever. Worth a shot. If the muffler is full of oil or carbon deposits, throw it on your outdoor gas grill & bake it with the cover down at max for a while to burn out the interior.

 39. Feel free to come visit me. It seems things are breaking faster than I can fix them. In the past few months, washer, dishwasher, coffee pot, truck, recliner, wife's sewing machine, my sewing machine, my serger. Last year, major water leak in front yard (cracked main water line), water pump on truck, rotors on truck, after I replaced the water pump the bypass hose burst. Yes I was too freaking lazy to change it when I changed the pump. :(

 40. He's talking about more manufacturers. Though I suspect most are seeing this as a temporary blip and whilst they are no doubt increasing production as much as they can within the parameters they have available, are probably going to avoid long-term capital expenditures. Though they may bring forward plans for new equipment and keep older equipment running for longer. I'm surprised that the Chinese aren't getting into it. I think they need all the lead for childrens' toys though.

 43. If I might elaborate on what SWJewellTN is saying here...I think some are forgetting that these laws, "unconstitutional" in our opinion or not, have been properly passed by a legislature and put into place and law sworn law enforcement officers have both a duty and an obligation to enforce them regardless of their personal opinion.   Now, if an officer really has a problem of conscious with a particular law and decides to not enforce AND is willing to face the consequences then he/she could certainly do that but to expect officers to do so wholesale is, I think, rather ridiculous.   The place to address "unconstitutional" laws is in a legislature and/or the courts...not on the street with a LEO...LEOs are NOT the problem here...WE ARE THE PROBLEM because WE'VE let legislatures pass these laws in the first place.
