I think far too many people over value themselves and their professions. Romans 12:3 A man who provides for his family and is content with the choice and agreements he has made doesn't need to pander for reinforcement, compliments, gratitude, or favor. Service only counts if it is selfless. Stuff like the above, while meant to be in thanks, demeans the server and the service. LE is a job. If they don't like the hours, pay, benefits, etc then they can choose to do something else just like any other job and that goes for any profession. When I hear this kinda of stuff that tries to makes any one sound like a saint and claim some noble service, I have to ask would they do it for free? That is true service. Thanks for a job well done, but no saint hood for taking a good paying job. Regardless of the job.6 points

I know there are "bad" cops out there who bring a lot of criticism to the law enforcement profession, and it's a shame. There are a lot of good cops out there who make life a lot more civilized than it would be otherwise and we would be in a mess were it not for them. Someone posted this on Facebook today and I thought I would pass it on. It really made me think.4 points

You're right, it has been. But it's kinda the chicken and the egg thing. Did the media just decide one day they were going to represent militias as extremist separatists or supremists or did enough militia groups perpetuate that stigma on their own by being full of separatists and supremists? Other than the State Guard, the closest thing I've seen to a rational organization that closely resembles a militia would be the Oath Keepers with their initiative to set up regional detachments and support cells. I could get on board with that, but I just worry about becoming involved in a group full of people who say one thing but really mean another... with a wink wink nod nod. I grew up around such people and they're still close with the family. They would share many of the same opinions on the government being too large, taxes being too much and the potential for an economic disaster resulting in a period of chaos and lawlessness. But then they start talking about how gays, blacks and Jews are responsible for all the world's problems. For some reason, militias seem to attract those types, and that's not the type of people I want to be around if the S actually HTF.3 points

Personally, I think that you ARE being a smart consumer when you choose to avoid overpriced ammo and you let fellow shooters know why... so that they can make their own choice. All bitching and bashing aside, that is the original purpose of this thread. If they were selling corksniffer ammo at corksniffer prices, I doubt you would see people being so disgruntled about this. However, we're talking freakin' Armscor here-- not exactly the BMW of .22 rounds... They have a right to price it at whatever they wish, and I have the right to tell them to pound sand. Works fine for me.3 points

I just looked over the documents that prompted this "outrage". In the entire thing, this is the only part written about the 2nd Amendment is below. They also had a CNN article about the NRA, Congress and the President that were in the list of "documents" from the pretend threat. Information Findings and Recommendations: 52nd CST identified some information of law enforcement value in the building. All of the Down ragne documents that had a URL address listed on the bottom were downloaded and are included in the termination packet. On the chalk board as well as the tables there were several statements about protecting Gun Rights and Second Amendment rights. Additionally a phone number was written on the chalk board with the label William “the boss†Pierce (USPER), 304-539-6221 Area code for Charleston, WV. Below is a list of the documents the CST was able to identify. OFP is right- a civil support team from the National Guard isn't a commando team in the least. When I start seeing an exercise that has troops from a combat arms unit doing cordon & searches with confiscate firearms as a task from higher, I'll be upset. That's even if you can get enough troops to show up for drill. Also, those backwoods militias should be considered a threat and planned for. Some of them are stupid and harmless; others are a dangerous amount of crazy and unpredictable.3 points

*sigh* Mark, I am sorry to hear how you got shafted out of your truck (& house & other stuff) man, 25 years ago I wen't through it myself & know first-hand how much that sucks. If you'd like me to try to buy your M37 back from your EX just let me know, then you can just buy it back from me at whatever price it is that I can get it from her for. I will of course drive it a little between the transactions, but I promise to treat it as if it were mine (ie: that means I'd take care of it).3 points

Reason number 2000 i'll will not visit that city, wont spend one dime there to support their economy. Pretty much the same reason I wouldn't have visited Paris during the Nazi occupation. If we ever elect a halfway decent real leader and the voters of DC kick out all the traitors to America, restore freedom like the founding fathers intended, then maybe i'll go. But as for right now, no way in hell will I step over the DC boundry.2 points

Yes. Because with more than 200 people missing, thousands more in misery and millions being spent on the search, not one person would stand up (or track down the number of a journalist) and say "yes, we have the data but we can't release it because... Contract".2 points

I want them to win soooo bad, especially after 35k "fans" signed a petition to fire the coach and bring back the coach that nearly sank our entire program. I have great respect for coach Martin. He is a true leader and molder of boys into men. Is he the best basketball coach...that's yet to be determined. But I think he is great man, and that's enough for me to back the program whole heartedly.2 points
We would not want any backwoods militias around here!!
Backwoods militias are what made this country and would be great to have in every community in every state. Unfortunately, since people in general are fascist creatures, current day militias often require members to prescribe to belief structures that idealize specific social standards rather than focus on the Constitution and the basic principles of liberty. Otherwise I would be very active in a community militia. I'm not gonna go out and train with willfully ignorant people who believe 9/11 was perpetrated by the government and darkies are responsible for all the woes of our society.
Y'all don't believe we went to the moon either, right? - OS
The moon doesn't actually exist, so the moon landing was fake by default. Prove me wrong. You aren't allowed to use logic, science or reference historical precedence either, as I'm ignorant of all that stuff so I'll just ignore that and lump that information into the same category as the vast conspiracy I believe in. Now, considering the above parameters, how would you go about proving me wrong? Exactly. So I win. Where's my prize? It's a conspiracy perpetrated by the military industrial complex (Boeing) to secure contracts through NASA for moon exploration. They controlled JFK's mind, as JFK was the original Manchurian Candidate, with his WWII exploits being completely set up by the military industrial complex as they saw the lucrative opportunity of having a President who would commission initiatives like space exploration, thus making them all filthy rich. I could go into more detail, but I don't have enough time to explain how this all ties into the involvement of the alien Lizard People, but most of you probably already know about Lizard People and the threat they pose our species... I mean, if you're not sheeple that is. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk2 points

We've got a vendor on here that has been selling bricks of .22LR at $25 and still making money. But, he's been doing it so our kids can shoot, not so our members can flip it and resell it. A few posters above were exactly correct. We need more good shops in middle Tennessee - especially local, non-big box stores. I've no idea what these guys paid for this ammo. I expect it was close to normal wholesale, but in fact they may have paid some premium to get two pallets worth all at once. They misread the market and way overpriced it, and as such have suffered damage to their brand integrity and reputation. Businesses make mistakes. They're new and small, and so they're due a couple. I just hope they're not so leveraged that the consequences of a mistake like this are magnified across their business. I know we've got bunch of members who have been in the gun business and are cringing as they read this thread because they've been there in some way. I pull for small business. I just hope these guys can get it back on course before it's too late.2 points

For what it's worth... I think the author of the article (...along with those "others" he refers to...) hints at the problem but either hasn't recognized it; or doesn't understand it... Up until the dawn of the CNC age (...the time of the Colts, essex put togethers, and the old military pistols...); folks wanted their carry 1911 to be a reliable shooter for defensive purposes; there were few problems with the 1911; providing they had a good magazine, good ammo, and someone who know how to shoot... Some said the 1911 wasn't sufficiently reliable; but there are lots of reasons not to believe that...Accuracy wasn't "bullseye grade"; it was "combat grade"... Folks built 1911's looser then... That made them reliable... I've handled and owned a bunch of lowly Colts and military rebuilds (...now out of favor with the current 1911 "in-crowd"...) that never failed to go off when they had a proper mag, good ammunition, and a thoroughly trained shooter handling them... The reason that "new" 1911's need all this TLC is that they are too closely machined and fitted... They are, in effect, a modern match grade bullseye gun that the manufacturers are marketing as "defensive guns"... That's why they are 'finicky" and need fixin.... Glocks aint "finicky" out of the box; they are combat guns.... leroy, lover of the lowly colt 1911 and that greatest of all colts, the SAA1 point

All... RE: The "...magic telemetry and locational discussion..."; along with "....why doesn't Boeing just tell us where the plane is discussion...".... I think the reason that Boeing (...or Rolls Royce...) doesn't unilaterally report the "whereabouts of the plane" is because it's not their business to do so; and they may be constrained by others... Boeing entered into a contract with the buyers (...or lessors...) of the aircraft; presumably Malaysian Airlines (...or others, E.G. the government of Malaysia...)... The "services" (...and real time data collection and performance monitoring are presumably part of that contract...) provided are outlined in the contract with that entity who actually paid Boeing for that service and or data; not the public in general... Said another way, any contractual information (...including telemetry from the engines and or plane positioning transponders...) are the property of the plane's owners; not the general public, and the owners make the determinations as to what gets released and when; not Boeing.... Boeing (...and other suppliers like Rolls Royce...) may well know plenty; but they are not in a place to make that information public; as others have paid for it... They are simply like "Silent Sam the Service Man"; they do what they have been contracted to do and keep their mouth shut... leroy1 point

Is that any bass that has just been gutted, or does it also need to be filleted too? ;) But at any rate, no they aren't. Sea bass is totally different species from marine striped bass. However freshwater striped bass and marine striped bass are indeed the same species.Of course, the freshwater fish referred to simply as "striper" or "stripe" is the white bass, and another species yet, which bred with a striped bass produces our "hybrid bass", which is generally sterile. I know my various "stripers" (and not unfamiliar with more than a few "strippers" in my time too), sorry for the aside. :) - OS1 point

Its not hard to explain. If i make a 'spring' for your shotgun by rolling a piece of string around a bar, it will not work. Why? Because string does not make a good spring; it does not have the property of returning to a shape, it is limp. If you use the wrong material, or if the material is somehow polluted or stressed or flawed, or the process producing it is flawed, or whatever, the spring will fail. If you over-compress or over-extend a spring, it will fail. If you make it of the proper material and use it within its functional operational parameters, it will keep on springing for a long time. Eventually, all springs do wear out, but it should take a long life of many compress/decompress cycles to do it. Anything else indicates the spring was either poorly made, the wrong spring for the job, or it was abused. So, some engineer messed up when picking the spring for that gun, or you got a defective one, unless you pulled it out and messed it up without telling us. Period.1 point

As an aside, I'll add this. If you're gun functions, on all types of ammo and bullet weights, don't worry about where your spent casings go. If you're having trouble with recoil that's one thing, but if you're only worried about the ejection pattern alone, you're chasing your tail IMO. Worry about where the bullets go, not the casings1 point

Shortly after my nephew got his car, he received a ticket in the mail for running a red light. In Florida. This was despite the fact that he had not been to Florida and, in fact, at that time he hadn't driven much more than ten or fifteen miles from his home. My mom called the number (the car was in her name) and was told, basically, that there wasn't any choice but to pay the ticket. Well, she kept at them until whoever was responsible looked into the matter - and found that he (and his 90s model Mustang with a Tennessee tag) received a ticket that should have gone to a pickup truck with Florida tags. Apparently, the truck's tag was just one number or letter off from his. Yes, those cameras are a scam and belong on a scrap heap not on the roads and streets of our country. I haven't gotten any camera tickets, yet (knock on wood.) I did, however, have a KPD officer tell me that I had to remove the (clear) plastic license plate cover from my car because Knoxville has a city ordinance against them as they might interfere with the traffic cameras. My thinking was, "What? I don't live in Knoxville or even Knox County, barely cut through the corner of the the city of Knoxville sometimes, if I go home from work a certain way (which I rarely do) and they expect me to take my clear license plate cover off because of some dumbass city ordinance that isn't even applicable where I live or where I normally drive?" In addition to adding to the stupidity of traffic cameras, that also serves to exemplify what makes me sick about the city of Knoxville - they expect all of East Tennessee to live by the stupid, niggling little rules they come up with for their city.1 point

Well, the ruling was a bit too late for me. My wife just got her 4th ticket for one of those things! :wall: I keep telling her she needs to slow down. And, it's not like she doesn't know where they are. Anyway, I'm glad they are going away. BTW, Oak Ridge Mayor Tom Beehan, Mayor Pro Tem Jane Miller, and Council member Charlie Hensley voted in favor of the extension, if you are wondering who not to vote for next election.1 point
