  1. the only real power guv'mint is given is the prosecution of law breakers.   when not enough folks are breaking the law, thus reducing the power of guv'mint, they simply pass more laws to make it nigh impossible for anyone to figure out if they are law abiding or law breakers...

  3. I'd like to see a law that says, if you don't want your customers and your employees to have guns in your store, then you must pay for and provide armed security. Put the liability on the other foot, see how fast they come around.

  4. Dave, the President of Pro Tech is having his TGO knife professionally photographed for his website and possibly a future magazine run, they are very proud of this run, and I can't blame them!

  5.   Very Good Point about the possibility of the timer picking up the slide going forward.  I have also made the mistake of bumping the timer up against something and it picking that sound up.   After having the shooter unload and show clear, I like having the scorekeeper Call Out the time as I show the timer to them.  That confirms to everyone that the time has been noted before the hits are scored.  Last thing you want is to be walking back for the next shooter and the scorekeeper asks you for the time - - - and you have fat-finger the re-set (been there, done that, somebody gets a re-shoot).   Meanwhile Getting back on topic.......   You have to wonder why anyone would try so hard to cheat at something that in its essence, is a pure measurement of one's individual skills.

  6. I have a friend who sold that exact Smith on gunbroker for $650 about a year ago. I told him to put it on there to get the maximium amount possible. His had never been shot. For $50 you can get a detailed letter from Roy Jinks the S&W historian. This one has diamond grips and a flat latch which dates it in the late 50's without looking up the number. The H&R really isn't worth that much maybe $150.

  7. I recently left walgreens after seven years with them as an assistant manager. I too was subject to and understood their no firearms policy. I carried every single day. I understood that were I to ever need to use my gun that I would be looking for a new job. I was ok with that as hopefully, I would still be alive to look for one. For those of you saying you won't go back to shop at Walgreens anymore, good. Not because of this, but because it is a terrible, terrible dishonest and unethical company that treats its people worse than any group of evil bastards I have ever had the displeasure of working for. There are plenty of reasons not to shop there. They are a terrible company run by terrible people. If one day they made the national news because somebody snapped and went full in postal at corporate headquarters I would understand and wonder what took so long.

  13. I agree completely...   But, it also is our right to stop doing business with Walgreens over their actions... like firing a man who was just trying to protect himself from bad guys.   Free market is a wonderful thing.

  14.   I decided many years ago that I wanted to learn how to fly fish, so I picked up a copy of this: 'Curtis Creek Manifesto: A Fully Illustrated Guide to the Stategy, Finesse, Tactics, and Paraphernalia of Fly Fishing'.  It's a large format soft cover book, illustrated with cartoon-type drawings. It has all the information you need to teach yourself the basics. (Currently it's $8.42 from Amazon.)   I am completely self-taught, and yet I've stood shoulder-to-shoulder on blue ribbon trout streams with fishermen who have paid big money for to attend fly-fishing 'schools' who have asked me for advice.  (I recommended they get a copy of this book.)     I still keep a copy in the back pocket of my fishing vest, and presented a copy to my sons along with their first fly rods.

  16. Exactly! If this is true then I hope they get kicked out and banned from the sport for life. Sad to think grown men would act like that..... How anyone would get enjoyment out of a 15 dollar piece of wood hanging on their wall that they knew they didn't earn is beyond me..... Easy fix though as stated with a timer display........

  17. I’m sure this case was handpicked by the Obama administration to test this law. Instead of using a law abiding family member buying for another family member, they used a suspected bank robber that they claim had made threats to kill cops. http://ww2.roanoke.com/news/roanoke/wb/269289

  18. ROing 201: show the timer to the scorekeeper as the shooter is unloading.  -gets the time recorded before chance for it to pick up slide slamming shut, shot from another bay, etc. -speeds up reset -integrity of having another person verify time

  19. If you are not going to Walgreens due to their no firearms policy for employees then I suggest that you do not step foot in any retail store. I have yet to find one that does Not have that policy in place. It is simply an insurance thing. What we need is a law that eliminates employers liability if an employee defends themselves. 21. This is just my opinion...   I think the straw purchase law should be rewritten to state specifically that a straw purchase is only buying a gun for a prohibited person ,or buying with intent to resale a gun to a prohibited person. Because if the person was prohibited from buying guns, then I could see it as a straw purchase.   But if both parties are legal to purchase and own a firearm, it shouldn't matter at all if one buys it for the other.   Again, this is just my opinion.

  23. The article said they feds were carrying out shovels and weapons - no mention of having found the explosive devices that supposedly justified the search.  Will have to wait for more details but this is sounding a lot like a fishing expedition.  Sure, the guy ran but he obviously doesn't trust the government and he might have run for that simple reason.  That doesn't automatically mean he was doing anything illegal.

  24. Somewhere people have gotten the idea that exploiting people, whether due to ignorance or desperation, for a "good deal" is capitalism. It is not nor has it ever been understood that way. Capitalism works off integrity of both ends. That is why we have problems with so many corporate and government issues. A good deal has to be a fair deal or else it is exploitation. It's like cheating at cards and then justifying it by saying its ok because they agreed to play you and didn't object.

  27. Posted by Derek Gary on one of the firearms selling groups on Facebook. Goes as follows... You want to buy this gun. When you do, you will soon discover that men want to BE you, and women want to BE WITH you. As soon as you fire this weapon you will swear that the ghost of Mikhail Kalashnikov himself came down from Commie heaven and gave you a slap on the back with his leathery man hands. This weapon was built in Romania and sent here where it was customized with an aluminum quad rail, Browning holographic sight, and laser sight by an authentic certified native born son of the Great State of Mississippi. When you see the marshmallow roasting fireball that erupts out of the muzzle of this bad boy, you'll know why they named it the Draco after the mighty fire breathing dragon. The BATF considers this weapon a pistol, so it can be carried legally with a handgun carry permit, which is sure to annoy any gun grabbing liberal hippy types that have the misfortune of crossing your path. This 7.62x39mm beast will use any high capacity AK mag or drum, so don't try to use any California approved single stack garbage unless you want it to be spit back at you while the mighty Draco laughs and mocks you. If think you have what it takes to wield this God given blessing of the second amendment, be the first to meet me with $500.00 American Dollars. The sale of this weapon includes one 30 round mag, the original box and paperwork, and one disposable razor. The razor is for the steely tactical man beard you are sure to grow after becoming the proud owner of this "handgun". If you need to ask your wife first, immediately close this ad and go watch a romantic comedy on Lifetime, this gun is not for you Nancy boy. If two worthy prospects show up, ownership will be determined by a feat of strength of my choosing. Located in Bartlett TN. Good luck gentlemen.

  28. I can well understand the prolific rise in popularity of the alloy and polymer frame carry guns. But for most of my life I opted for steel when given the choice, mostly due to the effects of recoil. Heavy just feels better when you have to squeeze the trigger.  Well, recently I kinda forgot that little fact and ended up with a 5-shot Taurus Snub-nose Revolver chambered for .44 Spec. It's listed as an Ultra-Lite. Even with moderate 200 gr. lead loads it feels and sounds like your dropping the hammer on a Magnum case.  It is fun........... in small doses.  Bottom line; great for carry but I hope I never havta squeeze the trigger without ear plugs.

  30. I have a XDS 45 as a backup, now that the hairbrain recall is done, I have faith in it again. It's small, conceals well, and of course launches 45's well as long as u hold it with authority. For a concealed weapon I give it a 7. I added trijicon night sights which now makes it a 9 in my opinion. It works as a tool and not a safe queen. Hope this helps Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2 of course it ate my spelling.

  34. They stock it on Thursdays and/or Fridays.  I really want to learn how to fly fish.  I've been fly fishing for bream and bass since I was about 7 years old but I don't understand the techniquies used for trout, plus fly selection and all that.

  35. Except for the grip, those H&R revolvers look exactly the same as they always have. I have an 80's NEF(AKA H&R) .32H&R mag with a shorter barrell and have had at one time a double action NEF.22 with a 6" barrell, frames all look the same. While inexpensive I never considered them a cheapo as far as quality goes, I think they are durable, tough, decently built but ugly revolvers.

  37. A warrant can suggest a lot of things and this days I don't tend to  put much stock in accusations.   It would seem to me that if they had any significant evidence against him they could have arrested him and then searched to their heart's content; this sounds like a fishing expedition to me based on what I know at this point.

  39. carbine (/ˈkɑrbiːn/ or /ˈkɑrbaɪn/),[1] from French carabine,[2] is a long arm but with a shorter barrel than a rifle or musket. Many carbines are shortened versions of full length rifles, shooting the same ammunition, as opposed to stand alone designs with generally lower powered ammunition.
