Those things are expensive as hell. I know they have to be custom fitted, but it may be possible to pass it onto another veteran and they be able to have it fitted. Someone here might know of an organization to donate it too that can make that happen.

Some of you may have seen this, before but I have not. A friend of mine saw it on Facebook and, knowing that I am not on Facebook, she sent it to me. I thought it was funny so I found it online and am posting it, here. I did not create this 'poster' (although I wish I had) and do not know who did.

I have a buddy that lives in Philadelphia PA-- while not a full-blown hoplophobe, he had very little experience with firearms, and was generally fearful of them, primarily due to a scary childhood experience. His general take on firearms was the usual "respect your right to own guns but public safety trumps all" mentality.   Well, he was in town last weekend, and my fiancee and I decided to take him to OK Corral in Woodbury. We went late Sunday afternoon and the place was practically empty, most likely due to the oppressive July heat.   Started him out at the pistol range with simple stuff like a Ruger Single Six, and gradually moved him up the scale to a P226, and a Taurus Judge-- handling empty firearms first to get a feel for each of them before ever putting the first round in. My fiancee is an NRA certified instructor and CRSO, and she took him through each firearm at a relaxed pace, explaining (and making him memorize) the 4 rules of firearm safety, and explaining in detail the differences between each gun. Come to find out he's actually pretty good with a pistol.   Before we left, we visited the rifle range, and again started him out easy with a Henry .22-- after running through a couple of boxes of .22, I broke out the Mosin M44, just for a demonstration-- I didn't intend to let him fire it since I didn't want to lose the progress we had made that day by scaring him out of his wits. However, after I ran five rounds through the M44, he was standing there, with his mouth open in awe at the sound and the muzzle blast. He actually insisted that he have a chance to shoot the Mosin. I reluctantly explained that this rifle was nothing like he had shot so far that day, and it probably wasn't a good idea... I lost. As I conceded, I walked him through the basics of the unloaded rifle, explaining how to hold it, how to sight it, etc. just as we had done on the pistol range.   The biggest reward was the huge grin on his face when he fired his first shot with the M44. It was so worth it. As we drove home, he kept saying how much fun he had, and how glad he was that he had experienced and patient instructors. We discussed the possibility of him owning a gun in the future, and while he said he probably wouldn't, he did sheepishly admit that we had changed his mind (positively) about quite a few of his misconceptions about guns...   So, while he's not a converted firearms enthusiast yet, at least we're off to a positive start! :up:

Pretty proud of my son. Today in the mail he got his expert classification from the NRA for 600 yard F class. He started last year, we got a little more serious this year and he's done better at every match this year. The neat part was, he only only shot (3) 600 yard matches this year and 2 out of 3 were w/ a Harris bipod in F/TR. If he was not hooked before (he was) he's really hooked now!

I was really expecting to see an article written about "assault weapons", you know EBR's such as AR-15's, AK's, etc. I would not have been surprised to see an article about Hi-Cap pistols. I also thought it could have been about 3D printed guns. I could have respected an article about guns that may be poorly made and dangerous to the owner. Any of these topics at least had points that could have been argued why they are dangerous.   But, no. We find out the most dangerous guns are pistols, revolvers, rifles, shotguns and (snicker) Derringers. So basically ALL guns are the most dangerous.   I submit that the five most dangerous tools of an idiot journalist are 1. Computer, 2. Typewriter, 3. Pen, 4. Pencil, 5. Crayon. 

I use dogs as an alarm system. There's a large dog that sleeps on my front porch at night, another on the back porch, one that stays outside on the front lawn, three that patrol the back yard, one down at the barn, and a little dog that sleeps with each family member in their bed. If someone tries to mess around here, I WILL hear them. ;)

if a US citizen was on the plane then I am sorry, but we still have no business getting involved.    Does it make it more heinous if a US citizen was on it?   Why would the rebels shoot it down anyway?  To what end does it benefit them?   The USA needs to stop being the world's police,  end of that story.  Now is the time to stop!   And while we are on the subject,  please stop saying " an American"  Last time I took geography anyone basically in the Western Hemisphere is an American. The hated illegal aliens from Mexico are American's.

Stay on top of Armslist in the area and flag every single ad for 22lr. I do it every single day. Eventually these gougers will not be able to sell their ammo at elevated prices putting them in a bind when the credit card bill comes in. I even flag normal priced 22 so the gougers cannot buy it to resell.

Mine is the 223 version, it will eventually be chambered in 300 Blackout with a 8 twist barrel and threaded for my suppressor. As far as a sig brace I have already looked at the brackets and I can make one to use a pistol tube for under $30. Pig nose adapters can be had for under $20 and with some time welding I am make a decent bracket to thread for the pig nose adapter.   If our administration wanted to hit the Russians with economic sanctions that actually hurt they would look at all kinds of stuff other than firearms. Firearms are such a small amount that they will not even bat an eye at it while so many US companies that rely on imported Russian firearms go out of business. Here is a list of imports that would hurt Russia, surprisingly firearms are no where on the list.   Russia's exports to America amounted to$27.7 billion or 1.2% of overall US imports.   1. Good that they were bound over to adult court; they need to go to prison. They can blame the victim all they want, but it’s to too bad they didn’t die when they walked into the room. Maybe the court will slap them on the hand and give them probation. Although I would guess they have already been that route since they are pulling home invasions. Next time they will kill the victim and then at least one of them will go away when the other rats him out. Unfortunately someone will probably have to die or be seriously injured before the acts. Yes, I worked in the field also as a Police Officer. But I don’t call it “justice”. My daughter is a Probation Officer now. I hate the kind of dirt bags that will pull this crap and its why we need guns to defend ourselves from them.

Manure... An interesting fact Manure : In the 16th and 17th centuries, everything had to be transported by ship and it was also before the invention of commercial fertilizers, so large shipments of manure were quite common. It was shipped dry, because in dry form it weighed a lot less than when wet, but once water (at sea) hit it, not only did it become heavier, but the process of fermentation began again, of which a by product is methane gas of course. As the stuff was stored below decks in bundles you can see what could (and did) happen. Methane began to build up below decks and the first time someone came below at night with a lantern, BOOM! Several ships were destroyed in this manner before it was determined just what was happening After that, the bundles of manure were always stamped with the instruction ' Stow high in transit ' on them, which meant for the sailors to stow it high enough off the lower decks so that any water that came into the hold would not touch this volatile cargo and start the production of methane. Thus evolved the term ' S.H.I.T ', (Stow High In Transit) which has come down through the centuries and is in use to this very day. You probably did not know the true history of this word. Neither did I. I had always thought it was a golf term.

Either the gougers are growing tired or the planets were just all lined up right. I walked into Academy Sports in Mt Juliet the other day at around 11:00am to pick up some barbecue stuff. When I checked out at the register, I was surprized to see a stack of 50 count .22s sitting on the shelf.   "OMIGOD!" I exclaimed to the register girl who kind of looked at me funny. "Is there a limit on those?"   "Two."   I bought the two, CCI std velocity for $3.49 ea.   I did a quick count and there were more than 20 boxes still on the shelf when I walked out, no one around. I scanned the sky in the parking lot to make sure we hadn't been nuked and I missed the big SHTF or something. Didn't see any zombies either, so I drove my happy little self home ... 100 rounds richer :pleased:

Time of day, body language, attire - all comes into play when a stranger steps onto our porch.   I will say, our 25# Jack Russell mix would be the first line of defense, she goes INSANE when a stranger comes a knockin' and we have not raised an aggressive guard dog!   This includes pest control, pizza guy, UPS / FEDEX guy, repairman, etc - we've got to crate or lease her to open the door) If my wife is home by herself, there is no doubt my dog would lay down her life for "Mom"   Highly unlikely someone we know would show up unannounced or unexpected after dark, so I govern myself accordingly.   Need to use the phone - we no longer have a landline, but with a cell phone, predicated upon behavior, I may or may not give access to the phone, but they WILL NOT be allowed into my home to use the phone.   I would also be on the lookout for a second / third person who could get the drop on me.   Erratic or aggressive behavior, I'm calling Five Oh for backup as soon as I retreat back inside / close the door (note all during this time my insane dog is trying to get out to "meet and greet" the stranger and I would probably mention, 'yep, she'd bite the snot out of you')   Desperate people do desperate things.

  Well don't worry, Tennessee governors are guarnteed 2 terms since Ray Blanton but with that voting stratagy you are going to have to vote for Lamar Alexander I guess, can't have some democrat taking his seat. Also, a vote to retain Judges Clark, Lee, and Wade is the same as voting FOR a liberal, a democrat, so with that same voting stratagy you have to vote to replace them. If Bloombergs buddy Haslam wins the primary which he will, then i'll hold my nose and vote but I will vote for his GOP challenger in the primary just like i'll vote for Carr over Lamar and if Lamar wins the primary which is not guarnteed this time, I guess you and I will vote for him in the general over the democrat. And I will vote to replace Clark, Lee and Wade so Haslam can choose the 3 to replace them.

That's just creepy. There's a  lot of homes that little asshole would have never escaped from....just sayin'.

It has been a while, but I can assure you that I won't be particpating. The Great TGO Rapture of 2014 made a believer out of me. Besides that, I really enjoy how much more civil everyone has been since that day. :)

We went to breakfast at a restaurant   where the 'seniors' special' was   two eggs, bacon, hash browns   and toast for $2.99.  'Sounds good,' my wife said.  'But I don't want the eggs..'     'Then, I'll have to charge you $3.49  because you're ordering a la carte,'    the waitress warned her.     'You mean I'd have to pay for   not taking the eggs?'   my wife asked incredulously.     'YES!' stated the waitress..    'I'll take the special then,' my wife said..       'How do you want your eggs?'  the waitress asked.       'Raw and in the shell,' my wife replied.   She took the two eggs home    and baked a cake.     DON'T MESS WITH SENIORS!!!   WE'VE been around   the block more than once!

Mine was the first gun I ever had.  My mom was rather against me owning guns, so I had to save my money and buy it myself.  It does have a special place in my heart, so it probably sees less time in the field than my other options.  However, I do still hunt with it, but it is most certainly not one that I consider a truck gun.  I keep my eye out from time to time for one that would serve more as a beater. 

My kids spent the night with their grandparents a while back. While cooking breakfast, their grandmother asked how they'd like their eggs cooked. Noticing the eggs were coming form an EggBeater carton instead of a shell, my oldest son told her he'd like his hard boiled. :rofl:  My wife says he's just like me.

I generally do. Rarely do I see any 22 priced even remotely normal so it doesn't happen very often. And reasonably priced 22 get snatched up before it gets pulled down but I do my part to keep it our of the hands of those who are buying to resell.

  Why sanction them in the first place? Most of those Ukrainians in that area wanted to align with Russia in the first place, we should keep our nose out of that conflict. If Obama was serious about dealing with Russia, and he wasn't viewed as a world joke he would stop destroying our military and strengthen it, ally with Poland and put missle defense systems in Poland, invent a stealth, cold propulsion ICBM, drill for oil in ANWAR and pass the construction of the keystone pipeline and sell and ship oil to Europe. That's just a few things our pathetic excuse for a president could do instead of silly usless sanctions that don't accomplish anything. Just look how banning Norinco imports from China worked when 50% of the stuff in your house including the computer were mostly made in China. Sanctions placed on a big industrial country are nothing but a political show.

Why not just make a new character? I'm no comic book kinda guy, I enjoy Thor because of the movies and because I can relate to smashing #### with a big hammer. I have no problem with strong female super heros, but why not just make a new hero? I'm one of these people that continuity and character changes bug the hell out of me. Like the second Ghost Rider showing a whole different scene for him signing the contract, and the Punisher switching characters and showing a different family death scene in the second movie. Just stick with the orginal story lines and actors damn it.

Reminds me of my dad. He is a retired postal supervisor with 38+ years of service. While vacationing in Brevard NC a few years back he needed change for the newspaper box located in front of the post office. He politely asked the window clerk if she would break a dollar for him. She said no, and proceeded to give him a lengthy lecture on how far it was to the bank, having limited funds available, serving postal customers only, etc. Dad waited until she had finished the lecture and asked if she had any one cent stamps available. When told yes, he gave her a twenty dollar bill and asked for two. While she gave him the stamps and counted back the change, he thanked her, and repeated back most of her lecture on how far the bank was, how long it took to get there,etc. My mom refused to ever go to that Post Office with him again.

It'd be nice to have a building made of those bricks!

This is why I take at least a couple of hours to study the laws of any state I am visiting before I go. I am not going to have an example made of me.

The details are good investigative work, but the intent of the Haslam administartion and the end result were known well before this.  Control over the process, money for the state coffers so they don't have to cut elsewhere or raise revenue another way...take your pick for the reaseon.  The bottom line is that bill was killed in a backroom meeting before any vote took place.

Agreed with others. He had the vehicle as protection and, I am assuming, an aggressor who probably would have trouble standing up and fighting. Driving away (even as the aggressor is swinging) is the smart move. There undoubtedly would be people who would have a hard time believing that shooting was necessary.
