I have been fishing before and had to use a pair of pliers to remove a hook from the mouth of a fish. I held the fish up and tossed the pliers overboard.5 points

Wowser, that really delivered IMO! That first scene at the killing trough was as freaking chilling as anything I've ever seen on the whole series! - OS5 points

Because the Republican leadership who begged gun owners to help them gain control in the state government, claiming they are 'on our side,' aren't really 'on our side' any more than are their Democrat counterparts. Haslam was a member of Bloomberg's "Mayors Against Guns" group (oops, that's supposed to be Mayors Against Illegal Guns. Yeah, right.) Harwell seems have done everything she can to see that many pro gun bills don't even come to a vote and Ramsey got the so-called 'parking lot bill' gutted at the behest of his big business puppet masters (such as Fed Ex.) Quite the track record for people who claimed to be 'on our side' and whined that if we would just put them in charge they would support and advance our gun rights. I think that the money probably did have at least a little to do with it, too. It isn't like politicians have to choose between 'being greedy' and 'backstabbing the voters'. They can simultaneously do both quite efficiently.4 points

Here's mine, I built it on a custom made trailer that swings down for transportation and raises to what you see, it's 5x8 x 12' high and has 2 swivel desk chairs inside, pretty comfy when the heater is on2 points

shot some through the new pistol build to see if it cycled last Sat. Actually felt something this time. Wasn't recoil obviously, but there was a slight aggravation pulling the trigger on .22 for first time in my life.2 points

Do me a favor and keep me posted on how the crossbow hunting goes (range, effectiveness, etc). The reason for my curiousity is, I'm trying to think through some things but im thinking about trying to set up hunting opportunities for disabled vets. It would be a lot of work because I'd have to prep a lot of property in order to have enough locations that I could give as many opportunities as I'd like to. I've got plenty of people that would be willing to go out on the hunts with them if there were enough interest to need to be multiple places at once. I'm trying to think through all possible disabilities so that I can make provisions and not have to turn anyone away. I'm not sure that I could even get everything ready in time for next season due to the costs and labor involved. Maybe I can get at least enough done by next season to be able to take 5-6 guys out just to give it a trial run. I'm sure a standard compound bow would be out of the question for some of these guys hence the interest in the crossbow.2 points

Here's a pic. from my buddys huntin house, that let me use one day last year. There wer 16 turkeys all together that day and 5 were Toms. Iwatched them come out in the field just left of the pines you see. They came straight over towards me up to about 35 yds. then turned and went off toward that last one on the right. Fifteen mins. later while the trukeys are still scratchin around in the field, 11 does come out. Well all I can say is that only 10 left.2 points

Here's one of my huntin houses, I built this as a playhouse for the kids when they were younger. Approximately 10 yrs. ago. my son was the one that painted it. It had been sitting in the back yard since then, well three years ago I put a new floor and a door, and bingo daddy'd new huntin house, aka La Casa. Here's the view out the north window which is the side of the house you see. and to the south, took this one last year while huntin.2 points

you can't do that right now. Look at your load data, memorize the 10 or 15 powders (or make a list of them for quick ref) that work with 9mm (for example) --- when you see one of them, buy it. It all goes bang. It may not all be the best possible bullet you can craft, but passing up a vat of AA #7 because you wanted win 231 or power pistol is silly when the shelves are bare.2 points

Also, there are a lot of attention seeking people out there that would love the drama.2 points

if the south is so bad why do they retire here. i am 77 years old and cannot remember anyone saying they are retiring and moving north. i have NO tolerance for people that move here and try to change it into the crappy place they left. that goes double for immigrants from any where in the world.2 points

I thought the episode was excellent. Definitely have upped the gore factor a touch with the trough scene ... And how awesome/terrible were the fire zombies?!? Anyway, after last season I had given them 1 episode to keep my attention, and they succeeded, so I guess I'll keep watching.2 points

Well,
Carol seemed to manage to be able to run into soap, a sink and a towel between when she was rolling around on the floor with that leader woman and meeting up with the gang in the woods.
2 points

Haha, it said in the article that if this was a live round it would have "taken the ambulance apart". Apparently their explosives experts were all trained in Hollywood. These must be packed with the same explosives found in grenades that make people fly through the air. "Tactical nuke 40mm round, 1 each". Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

This story seems to use wording to make you think it was a big deal. you know right off the bat if its a practice round or HEDP or whatever else it might be. Seems to be blown way out of proportion.2 points

We all know better but I got complacent and broke a bunch of my own rules on this one. For the past 10 years my EDC has been a Glock or a 642, both of which are going to function flawlessly 99.999% of the time. Fire it, carry it around, throw it in the dirt, carry it around, clean it bi annually and it should be good to go, no worries. I bought a Taurus TCP a few months back from a close friend. (Buying a Taurus, first rule broken, which I don't regret.) I've been carrying this gun around for say 4 or 5 months and honestly have not had a chance to shoot it. (Not shooting a gun before carrying, second broken rule.) Since I have not fired the gun I haven't cleaned it at all. (Third rule broken) The gun has spent most of the summer bouncing around in my work truck which is a very dusty, and dirty environment. So finally last weekend I fired the gun and found it to be a complete jam-o-matic. So I took it home gave it a through cleaning and polished the slide and the feed ramp. Took it out yesterday and she ran like butter! We all know that pocket guns are finicky but I have to forget the Glock mentality and make it a point to clean this gun at least once a month for now on. The gun is actually a pleasure to shoot, it has a wonderful trigger and I was hitting cans every shot at 10 yards, not bad for a pocket gun at all. I believe that there is no perfect carry gun, each one has its pros and cons but I'm very happy with this one. Just have to make sure that it stays clean. So people, please, if you haven't fired or cleaned your carry piece lately, take the time to do so. It may save your life.2 points

It is a sad state that our society finds it more acceptable for someone to behave in an unsafe manner than a person who tells them to stop behaving in an unsafe manner. Folks wonder why there are so many people who act with zero regard for others. The reason is no one has ever told them they are wrong. Good people have no backbone nowadays, and the few that do are chastised for being hotheads; as if they are the problem. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

I was at the indoor range at Ashland City today. There's a shop there that sell new and used weapons. I picked up and handled an M1 Garand rifle. I don't remember it being that heavy while carrying one during Army basic training in '62. It was an amazingly accurate rifle at long distances. It was really neat firing rifle grenades from the Garand at rubber tanks downrange, and the bayonet training. Just touching this one just brought back some great memories.1 point

It definitely wouldn't be something they'd get up and walk away from if they survived. I was just pointing out that they aren't as damaging and explosive as they are made out to be in this story or in Hollywood. A regular frag grenade produces more, and deeper penetrating shrapnel than one of these. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

The club requirement is now easily fulfilled. If personally going to the store one can join the Garand Collectors Association ($25) on the spot when selecting your Garand. They also have a notary there for validating your application signature. If going the mail order route I think a photocopy of your GCA membership card or other clubs suffices. CMP has four requirements for purchase: age over 18, US citizenship, firearms related activity, and membership in a CMP affiliated organization. You can go to their website, http://www.thecmp.org to the eligibility requirements section to see what is acceptable as proof of each requirement. Folks living in non-free states have more hurdles. By the way the "Garand Collectors Association" provides an excellent quarterly magazine.1 point

Yep, remember there was another episode (in Season 4 I think... or maybe 3?) where Carl and Rick had a run-in/meeting with him. He was in that town all by himself, and recounted how he didn't have the nads to pop his walker/wife, which ended up causing the death of his son. And yea, Jericho was awesome, and he was great in that, too. I keep trying to get other folks to watch that series. It's all on Netflix now.1 point

Shooting sticks are where it's at. Bipods are for the range and rooftops. Shooting sticks are for the field. For prone and sitting I used to use wooden dowels lashed together with 550 cord. The telescoping monopods are nice, I just didn't like the extra weight. Don't rest your barrel on it if you're making a longer shot. I've seen that a few times on hunting videos. Rest your stock on it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Used one on my .243 last year for yotes. I had the 870 in my hands for close work, and the 243 was at the ready on the bipod. Convienient way of keeping it out of the dirt more than anything1 point

Can't go wrong with a 686. Ruger produces excellent revolvers as well. 1 point

He is a good guy. I have talked to him in the past and he has always been honest with me. He was the one who is suing on behalf of those who were approved to make a MG but later had the permission retracted. Personally ownership of inanimate objects should not be regulated at all. What should be regulated is the person owning the item. That is if I can legally own a single shot 22 I should be able to legally own a 50 BMG machine gun in the same manner. If I want to own a tank, hand grenades or a fighter jet I should be able to if I can own a 22 and if I can afford it.1 point

I have said for a very long time that California is the petri dish for the nation. Every single law passed that affect liberties started in California. Look at every single bit of gun legislation in the last 40 years and it was first a California law. All the environmental laws started in California and went nationwide. The AWB was, err still is, in effect in California long before it was made a national ban. And when those at a national level think their laws are working they pass it on a national level. And another problem isn't California passing these laws. It is those Californians that move to free states and try to make those states just like the California they left. Same thing with those from New England. They hate their state so much they move here but then the miss it enough to try to make Tennessee just like the state they left except cheaper.1 point

That's not good advice for someone living in a sub-division. Any and every deer shot with a broadhead has to be blood trailed. Any other ideas ? Apparently you aren't very experienced at bow hunting....just saying. Dave1 point

I keep reading comments on their Facebook posts from pro-freedom Colorado residents who feel "helpless" and ignored by the elected representatives, stating that they try to call their reps and are told that they can't leave messages, or email and fax and received canned responses thanking them for their concern. There, like most places, the people are being ignored and the politicrats are doing exactly whatever the hell they want to do and continue down the road of passing laws that people don't want. So my question is... what does that leave? When the vermin that infect our government systems refuse to do the bidding of the people who elected them and put them there, what now? Sure you can vote them out of office at the end of their term, but how much damage can they do in the meantime? Once freedoms are stripped away it's almost impossible to restore them. I hate to be that guy, but I'm seriosuly starting to wonder when folks are going to hit their limit and start voting with deeds instead of words. There are already posts on Magpul's FB page from people who say they are 5th (and longer) generation Coloradans who refuse to tuck their tails and flee to another state but desire to stand and fight for their freedoms. Things really could get interesting within our generation.1 point
