This is me two years ago after hiking to the top of Angels Landing in Zion National Park in Utah. After hiking for about two miles and a 1500 ft. elevation gain I was rewarded with this outstanding view down Zion Valley. Not bad for a 60 year old. :pleased:5 points

Verbal threats are threating behavior. Being told to get back is being told to disperse. However, on your ride to jail I would explain to you that you and your attorney can make those arguments to the DA or in court.2 points

Outpost Armory has tons of .22 ammo on the shelf. I've been reluctant to mention it anywhere but here if fear that reselllers would happen upon it. I've already started seeing it for sale on some of the Facebook boards. Anyways, 50rd boxes of Fed American Eagle are $2.99, same brand but suppressor ammo (subsonic) $3.99 per 50rd, CCI AR ammo is $24 for a 300rd boc -Fed American Eagle are $2.99 per 50rd box -Fed American Eagle subsonic are $3.99 per 50rd box -CCI AR is $24 per 300rd box They have pretty much any flavor of CCI ammo that you can think of from high velocity down to subsonic but some of the prices aren't wonderful ($0.10 per rd) but about average these days. They have some Aguila and if I remember correctly it was priced around $0.10 per round as well. Of course they also had a vast selection of high end stuff but the price reflects it so?? They have a 1,000 round per person per day limit and can be made up of any combination. Just thought I'd let everyone know.2 points

My reasons exactly. I want these rights for everybody, not just those in society I disagree with. Reminds me of the old quote "I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it." Something to keep in mind with this scenario is "Knowing Your Operational Environment." It's an overused phrase in the military and an underused one in law enforcement, IMO. It's in those two cops interest to keep things calm on their side. If those onlookers are provoked into violence, the two cops are potentially screwed. They can't be sure they could shoot all the potential attackers (not sure exactly how many there were) before they would be overpowered and possibly worse. It's in the LEO's interest to keep a situation under control with a minimum of force on their side, and their restraint was as much for that reason as anything else. The female officer didn't go above an beyond anything, she did her job, and did it well. The crowd was being watched and handled while her partner dealt with the suspect. They left the scene with their suspect under cuff in the back of their cruiser without a further incident because they handled it correctly. If the onlookers went from making verbal threats to engaging the LEO's, the situation is completely different, but this situation didn't get to that. Instigation isn't interference, and threats require action for a physical response, IMO. Everything isn't hunkydory as you put it, but the onlookers aren't doing anything that necessitates the use force or arresting them. They never got between the officers and the suspect nor laid a hand on the officers, or even made an overly aggressive move. The female officer kept them at a distance between them and her partner. As I said above, job well done by her.2 points

For the same or less you can just snag a new 22/45 LITE with a threaded barrel. I wet that way over the PAC lite after reading about tehe face of the camber peening from our very own Dolomite Supafly. I like mine a lot. Very accurate and a great can host for my Guardian, they are almost the same circumstance so the look is very slick and it runs... like a Ruger rimfire, boringly reliable.2 points

TO EACH HIS OWN......but I was born in TN and have lived in GA 2 times. Last time was for 10 years. I hated the state income taxes (they still owe me over $1200 from 11 years ago and I had a check processed by the state of GA as proof it was paid and I never got the money back), the price for car tags and boat trailer tags, lawn mower trailer tags, gas is always higher than TN as well as all of my insurance. Moving back to TN was like a $15 an hour raise...LOL A herd of Clydesdale horses couldn't drag me back to GA.2 points

Yes, but rights apply to all of us. Even the most undeserving person. Even the person who abuses those rights the most. That's why most (all?) of the people you see defending them are doing so. Not because they agree with the behavior of the MENSA intellectuals you saw on that video, but because of the fact that those rights apply to each of us as well. The problem with cancers, to borrow your analogy, is that there's no good way to get rid of them without universally applying a poison that affects the healthy members of the body as well.2 points

I see several people who should have woken up in a hospital needing emergency surgery to remove a cell phone from their ass. Seriously... I just couldn't do that job. You guys keep that in mind the next time someone posts a "cop bashing" thread here on TGO. This is the sort of B.S. they put up with on a daily basis. If 9 out of 10 people you encountered in your job acted like those assholes, you would probably find it really hard to choke back the expectation that the 10th person was going to be any different. And for what it's worth, the blacks in the ghetto are just the most recent arrivals to the video everything the cops do party. Stupid ass white people started it during during protests and demonstrations, just HOPING to catch one cop at his wits end, finally going upside someone's head with a well-deserved baton or a boot. Freedom gives you a lot of things in this country, but one thing it SHOULDN'T is freedom from consequences. Those highly productive members of black society who were obviously just on a lunch break from their well-paying jobs at Edward Jones and Associates, clearly got lucky and missed the Consequences Bus that day. Martin Luther King must be rolling over in his grave. He died for THIS?!?2 points

And by what legal authority does TICS make that ruling? And where is this from, btw? (It ain't from USC 19, 122) nor can I find from the referenced statute therein, 21 USC 802. I'll assume it's "somewhere" in federal code, so TICS is going to take federal law about non-alcohol related controlled substances and just decide to apply them willynilly to alcohol, too, eh? How positively clever of them, I must say. - OS1 point

If that was directed at me I apologize if I came across that way. My point was that our interpretations of the law might be different when I was arresting people. Arrest is not a conviction and the person will have ample opportunity to convince the DA, Judge or jury no crime was committed. The people in that video incited the person being arrested to resist. They also were putting the Officers in danger by causing them to have to deal with them while they were trying to take a suspect into custody. They refused to move back when ordered to do so. I do not know this to be fact, but I would bet that is illegal in all 50 states.1 point

No, seriously. Killing a person 'up close and personal' has messed up more people than just Zimmerman. I don't judge him, but that appears to be the minority position around here.1 point

If TN wants to enact a law that says you can't buy a firearm for a year after a DUI, or can't buy one while serving a sentence for it, or whatever, that's one thing, but such is not the case. But if TBI is going to make an arbitrary rule that you are deemed to be an addict after a DUI conviction, that is quite another. Perhaps it's okay with you that they deem you a mental defective because you once saw a psychologist regarding some personal problems, or had a script for an antidepressant, and could never own guns again? This is a proverbial slippery slope, and enters into the area of civil rights. - OS1 point

Shooting any ammo other than subsonic 147 or 158 grain through a suppressed 9mm is not hearing safe, regardless of the gun or suppressor. When shooting 9 or 45 suppressed, most of the noise is from the impact. A 22 into a body of water sounds like a small rock, hardly noticeable. A 9mm sounds pretty loud, like a firecracker when it hits water. A 45 sounds like firework mortar when it hits water. The same can be said for hitting a tree, steel, etc. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk1 point

The thing with the appeal is you need to see exactly WHY they denied and that's the only vehicle to do so... they won't (normally) disclose over the phone. I wouldn't just take any automated response and as I've stated they won't tell the dealers anything unless it's a friendship thing and I don't really see them doing that. The appeal form is the only way really to accurately get your root problem. If it IS the prior charge, then you have the artifact you need to then speak with a firearms attorney and know what options you have. I honestly do not believe it's anyone trying to harrass or personal agendas... most of them, heck ALL the folks I've met from TBI are pro gun and are for us. They do a lot of thankless stuff for us all. I frequently get calls and emails from them saying dealer X in Y has a customer looking for an old model smith this or that... or an agent looking for something personal ... They don't have to do this and if they hated us they wouldn't. I know there's bad apples everywhere but my opinion, for what it's worth, is something on your record (right or wrong) caused an exception and you need to know what .. most of this is automated but if something kicks out from the NICS check, it then goes for a quick analyst review.. now, might be you happen to hit the lease experience analyst or whomeever, they then hit the wrong button or whatever... My suggestion would be to call the dealer Monday... get the TICS # and fax the appeal and see what it says. I would not stack attempts on top of each other as I highly expect there's something on the record that's making the automatic approval kick out and will continue to do so.. You applied and unfortunately they denied... if this is new for you and the first time, appeal it and see why.. my experience has been this, as aggravating as I know it is to the customer, they've (ALL) ended up in the end with their weapon. I do not know everything about the state's statutes around probation, alcohol, DUI influences and such ... some on here I'm sure know it much better from either curiosity or necessity to find out for themselves ... but TBI will get it right and it may just take them getting the form to do their thorough due dillegence... I never got a "give them the gun we're sorry" ... but I have got several "give them the gun after furter discovery we are reversing our denial decision" .. that's the ultimate result you want. The bottom line is if it IS the DUI that caused this, please remember it's YOUR DUI not theirs... you've already manned up and admitted to making that bad decision and this may just be some residual you'll have to deal with. It's sounding from the other post it shouldn't be anything to limit you so I assume your reversal chances appear very high. All of this is my experience as a dealer and my opinion. Nothing is meant to be condenscending and I hope it's not taking as that .. just seems logical to me this would be the best route. As always, best of luck in getting it quickly and easily resolved.1 point

Sure but as any military guy knows about the UCMJ there is always a catch, and in TNs laws, it is the same case, the laws are there if they so choose to enforce: 39-17-305. Disorderly conduct. (a) A person commits an offense who, in a public place and with intent to cause public annoyance or alarm: (1) Engages in fighting or in violent or threatening behavior; (2) Refuses to obey an official order to disperse issued to maintain public safety in dangerous proximity to a fire, hazard or other emergency; or (3) Creates a hazardous or physically offensive condition by any act that serves no legitimate purpose. ( b ) A person also violates this section who makes unreasonable noise that prevents others from carrying on lawful activities. ( c ) A violation of this section is a Class C misdemeanor. [Acts 1989, ch. 591, § 1.] The fact that this particular instance turned out ok does not make their action ok. If the perp was armed, and had not been searched yet, it is the female officers job to back her partner up in case he turns violent. And if more aggressive action was needed by the police to secure the perp, the mob may of acted in his defense. Again, not saying that we need more laws, we have them, but we definitely need better manners. But some have no class, no matter what you try and teach them.1 point

Prize table for the Tough man division ( I was in tough man extreme) Now, this is something that really gets to me in a very good, deep way. These guys were in the same squad as me and I got to know them over the course of the match. Amazing gentlemen. The one shaking the kids hand is Travis, the VP of Lanxang Tactical. A new company that is going to be at SHOT this year and will be shipping their guns out to distributors Jan for 556 and Feb for 762. These guys sponsored two Rangers from 3rd batt for this match who were also in our squad with their 7.62 rifles, the VL34. So, these guns were designed by Travis and are phenomenal. I mean just all around great guns, period. $2,800 price tag when they come out, but worth every penny. They are designed to out perform the OBR and thats who they want to compete with and beat. And I think they will. Anyways….. So the kid is Wyatt. Hes been going to matches since he was 12 and doesn't always do that great. He's running a 6.5 Grendel if I remember right and it's hard for him to keep up with the other, better guns and calibers out there. So his dad says he can go to one match a year and he'll pull him out of school and take him, and this is the match he chooses. He's been doing it since he was 12 and is 15 now. Despite not doing very good he always comes back, is positive as can be and never complains. Travis noticed that, and awarded him a VL34 so he can compete next year. I was already impressed with these two gents from Lanxang Tactical, but after they did that it spoke volumes to me. Not only are they extremely nice and all around good dudes, they have hearts of gold. They made that kids year, and I'm sure he'll never forget it his entire life. He was looking kinda down durning the awards ceremony, occasionally smiling for others as their name was called. But mannnnnn his face was priceless when they awarded him that gun. I got it on camera and it was perfect because he was standing right up front and had no idea it was coming. http://youtu.be/eWOIlK6fnUo Again, BIG shout out to Lanxang tactical for doing that. It's been a good while since I was there, but I really liked the city. There's a lot to do if you get out and look around. There's a dog track not too far away in Orange Park that was always fun. Tons of great seafood, beaches, some great fishing also out of St. Augustine. Castillo de San Marcos is a very old fort like from the 1700's that I really enjoyed.1 point

I'm sorry, but the entire VA system is an embarrassment to this county and not enough citizens care about it to actually do something about it. Example, ask someone about the death panels and watch them look at you with no emotion about it because it's old news. I have friends who work for the VA and who tell me things that go on there. While there are many who actually give a crap there are many more who couldn't care less about doing their jobs, and the unfortunate thing about the latter is that management can't get rid of them. The system which was set-up to care for men and women who sacrificed ANYTHING in the service of this country does its best to hurt them. I could go on a diatribe about my personal experience with the VA, but I'm sure no one cares. :(1 point

The female officer was backing up her partner, by keeping watch on the group. I think it's reasonable to expect for a crowd to gather when someone gets arrested, and the officer not making the arrest should be keeping some measure of security. She did a good job, and so did the officer who was handling the suspect. Like I said, they got close, but never physically interfered. Is there any standard of how far away an LEO can control a crowd in a situation like that? I'd imagine it varies by jurisdiction if such law even exists, which is confusing enough. Egging on someone to resist isn't a crime, and shouldn't be. It's was on him to take their advise, he seemed to, which opens a tack on charge because of it. It's a free speech issue and I want to keep away from government legislation.1 point
