  1. If we have learned anything in the last 9-12 months you don't need money when you have credit. Just run it up and wait for someone to forgive you for being an irresponsible dumbass in life. Personal responsibility? Soooo last gen !

  2. Fuji is spot on imho. I've recent;y viewed some completed auctions on GB as well. People can be desperate. Some of us may be a bit jaded, as we've been through these cycles before, and prepared for such. But folks new to our passion may not have had the benefit of that foresight. I don't have as much empathy for those that have been through the cycles before and simply chose not to prepare. They have to own that. But I think that is a small minority of what we see going on. Of course, there are those simply trying to turn a buck. But I don't really think that's behind what we're seeing here. Folks are anxious, and rightfully so. Just my ever devaluing $0.02 worth

  4. I was in my LGS yesterday to purchase a new Taurus TX22. While waiting on the TICS to go through, I noticed a new SCCY Pistol with a RD on it. Before I could ask to see to see it, the TICS was completed and my mind went SQUIRREL and I was headed home with my new purchase (which I am very impressed with, BTW, but have not shot it yet). Last night, I did a little research on the SCCY RD and found out they released a new striker fired pistol, called the DVG-1 and it comes with a CT Red Dot, with motion activated On (no button to push) and a battery life of 20K hours. MSRP is $389, but if my failing memory serves me correctly, this was about $299. So who has one or is willing to pony up for one and give us a review? Don't be shy! I know some of you actually own a SCCY pistol. I can't find a range report anywhere on the internet! Just a bunch of Shotshow reviews and SCCY promotional views, one of which I have attached? I may very well go put it in lay-a-way later this week. But no way i am bring it home any time soon. I've bought too many this year as it is and I actually like being married.

  5. I use to browse GunBroker most nights for 30 minutes or so but haven't been on in a couple of months, not worth even looking. Glad the last to handguns I wanted were ones no one in their right mind would want for self defence and still got a reasonable deal and they are .22s and I have plenty that I would rather shoot than sell.

Regardless of how you feel about Reuters or the media in general. this article is a good example of why some of our terms and conditions exist - especially as relates to participating on the forum and what sort of content you may or may-not post. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-inauguration-threats-insight/as-inauguration-nears-law-enforcement-scrutiny-drives-u-s-extremists-into-internets-dark-corners-idUSKBN29K20U I am also attaching the article as a PDF since links to external content tend to change or get archived over time. 2021-01-15 (Reuters) Inauguration Law Enforcement Extremists Internet.pdf

  8. Old Jeeps with the doors off are lots of fun. I get it. $9500 sounds a bit rich too me. I’d prefer the inline 6 in any Jeep.

  9. Sorry was late. I have a 2000 wrangler SE, 4 cyl Wrangler. Had it 15 years now. Drive it work daily from Dover to Clarksville. My engine gave it up at 200k miles. I use slightly taller tires, but not overly large, 235/75-15s and I roll at 75mph the whole way. $8k is a touch high but not bad if all else is in perfect shape. A TJ jeep will last forever with regular maintenance. The things that do need replaced from time to time are much less costly than a payment. I have put 10k in mine overall even replacing the engine. Much less cost than what a new one would be but then I enjoy shop time with my Jeep.

  11. That is the one advantage perhaps in going with an auction. You can set a starting price that is a good deal. If it goes for more, that is not on you. I generally start an item here under market, no takers than I try auction. Id rather have it stay here, but we all know what cheapskates we all are I like to think it’s not rationalizing scalping. It cuts both ways, it’s not like someone is going to offer me a solid the other direction, right? Say, “hey,...whatever you want you get at historically low prices no matter what or when you buy it “ If I choose to buy today of my on volition, I don’t think I’m being taken advantage of. Buyers determine their own needs in a free market.

  12. William W. Johnstone's Out of the Ashes series. Re-reading actually for probably 4th time. Decent stuff from the 80s. Mack Maloney's Wingman series. Pure numbing bs, but fun. And lastly, Jerry Ahern's Survivalist. Again, decent...but his stand alone novels are much better.

  14. If I have something to sell I'm going to sell at market value, or possibly below if I'm just looking to get something out of the way. I don't recall ever selling any ammo, but if I were to sell ammo today I would price it based on it's market value, just like anything else. What I will not do is find ammo in stock, buy it out and sell it at a profit. Though during the last ammo shortage I was known to buy it up and resell to family, friends, and even some TGOers at the price I paid. Anything to keep it out of the scalper's hands.

  15. Yeah no problem. It's like now you're a life member right? So when you pay to upgrade to Endowment life it earns you an upgrade to them begging you to become a Patron life member. When you do upgrade to Patron, then and only then will they anoint you with mailings begging you to pay to become a Benefactor! Finally, you get get to the grand poobah of life memberships... you will be then invited to the Golden Circle of Patriotic Sainthood. I'm not sure if there's and end to it... So to summarize, each time they get you to send another $250-500 they will give you a new title, a new sticker, and a new Chinese duffel bag should you choose to accept it.

  16. My guess is that what you saw was a CPX-1RD or CPX-2RD (DAO) pistol. The DVG-1 and DVG-1RD (striker) seems to be made of unobtainium at this point.

  17. Hi, and welcome. First,I'd suggest reading the book "The ABCs of Reloading". Also, you will want 2 or 3 reloading manuals.... Hornady, Speer, etc. Educate yourself on the rounds you are interested in, powders possible, etc. You will find reloading components hard to find right now. Lots of folks like powder measuring and press preferences around companies like Lee, RCBS, etc. Doing homework is key to reloading. Lots of references here.. good luck.

  21. Friends, If you've read the TGO Rules and Guidelines like we hope that you have, you may recall that it begins with the statement that we believe that the majority of the members of this community are mature and self-guiding and that the majority what we ask of our community as far as "code of conduct" goes is really just common sense. We mean that. We really believe that you all are good people and that you don't need us or anyone else telling you how to treat one another or what is right and what is wrong. Despite that, I hope that you will indulge me and the rest of the Staff and tolerate us just for a moment while I remind everyone that TGO strives hard to be a place where law-abiding citizens can gather to discuss participation in, enjoyment of, preservation of, and advocacy for the Second Amendment and all that it entails. We have always asked our members to hold themselves to a higher standard than the general public, as ambassadors of the Second Amendment. We have updated our rules to reflect our continued commitment to being good citizens and good stewards of- and representatives of the Second Amendment. You can find the rules and terms by clicking the link at the bottom of each page of TGO, or by visiting the following location directly. https://www.tngunowners.com/forums/guidelines

  28. SURELY no one is really going to pay fifty cents a round (plus shipping!) for .22 ammo!!!! Could some of these stupid-high bids be people who are just screwing with the sellers?

  29. You know how much I love the Survivalist Series brother, especially the first 5 books in the series. My set was so old (paperback, probably Mass Market) they were about to fall apart. HOLY CRAP! They're on Kindle !!! It must have been some time since I checked. Well I've got the first 3 in the series loading now. Thanks my friend! I'll add Johnstone 's Ashes to my list. I know you guys wouldn't let me down!

  36. Watch a few videos, get a good workspace to do it in. It's a bit of a pain with the springs, but otherwise simple. The triggers are awesome. I get the cost can be off-putting to some, but they really do perform that well if you've got the money to blow on cool gun accessories. Never tried the LaRue triggers, but have only heard good things, and know the company makes a solid product.

  37. Pretty simple. The only pitfall I can foresee is orienting the mousetrap hammer spring backwards. 'Tis a good trigger, albeit expensive.

  38. I try to never drift over lanes anytime, but I know that happens, from time to time. I have a pickup and people like to drive in my blind spot, from time to time. Also I don't know that I would have pulled over to defuse the situation. Seems like that gave him the opportunity to escalate the situation, by going to get his gun, after he saw you pull yours. That being said, the rest of what you did was great, especially driving to the police station. I'm a bit disappointed in the officer, for not approaching the other driver and attempting to defuse the situation, in the capacity as a mediator, though. Possibly that's not in his job desciption.

  40. I try never to drift into another lane while turning. It was a thing to fail government drivers on when getting gov drivers license. I worked for the Post Office for 30 years. Glad you got out of it without using more force than you did. Road Rage can get serious!

  41. Well... to support the NRA. You never did it for the duffel bag in the first place right? Those can be had for $19 on Amazon. I usually accept the "gift" and give it to someone a little tighter on money at the range or send it so someone on a gun forum. I'm wearing my NRA hat right now and after all the years it's probably the only thing I've worn or even used. I just feel we need, depending on our circumstances of course, to throw some dog food to the biggest dog fighting for us. For all their faults, they dwarf any other efforts out there. I don't know if I will ever "upgrade" again, I don't really need to buy a ticket for entry into the next round... had about enough of that. What I've done over the last couple years is buy gift memberships into the NRA for younger folks coming up. It gets the magazine out there and into garages and on coffee tables, and many shooting clubs require NRA membership for their insurance so it can be helpful that way. Most of all it gets word of the anti-gun efforts into the next generation and I pray enough of them hear and carry on. What really chaps me, are the folks that contribute nothing. No time, no money, no anything. It's their right, but many died for it and many more have paid for it to be even to the point of what we have right now. Diluted as it may be, the 2nd still exists I think at least partly thanks to our efforts and the efforts of those before us. You're a life member here and there, you've done way more than most and anything else is just icing.

  43. I use a big job box to store ammo inside military ammo cans. It'll accommodate a double or even triple depth, and I lock it with two keyed-alike padlocks. Since these things are designed to make it difficult to steal tools, I figure they're pretty good for ammo. The only trick is deciding which ammo cans go on the bottom layer. I actually drew a map so I can find what I need quickly. The loaded box weighs well over 500 pounds, so it's unlikely a crook will try to haul the whole thing away.

  45. I thought I'd bring this thread back up as the craziness that is happening these days bears a huge resemblance to Kurt Schlichter's "People's Republic" series which I reviewed just a couple of posts earlier. I mean its absolutely frightening how Schlichter's fictional dystopian near future of liberalism gone crazy is coming to life all around us. Schlichter has always said that while his novels are fiction, they are also meant to be a warning of just what might happen. I fear he is right.

  46. Yes, I'm dragging this up from the almost dead... I've got several new series started that I haven't made up my mind about. If anything turns out promising I will let everyone know. This is not survival related but I've started read the Corps Justice series by C.G. Cooper. Just general save the day kick butt action by a group of ex-marines. The author lives somewhere south of Nashville and the base of the company that these guys work for is located in the Nashville area. The entire first novel was pretty much in Nashville. This is not deep thinking stuff. Much more along the lines of turning off your mind and drifting through the book while embracing your inner mall ninja... Mark
