Which 1911 would you buy under $1500?

Springfield Loaded - around $800 or $900. Spend the rest on ammo. I've been temped by Dan Wesson's but so far one hasn't made its way into my safe yet.

It has everything I want in a decent 1911 without extra cost. I've owned more expensive Kimbers that I wouldn't trade my SA for. It doesn't compare to a high-end 1911 (but nothing does).

Springfield TRP

I do not own a TRP, but tested one at the LGS range. Gritty trigger but very accurate. The checkering could be used as a rasp. All in all, to me was not worth the price. I liked the RO but the adjustable sight is an issue if considering for a carry weapon.

Dan Wesson, period.

Made in USA

No MIM parts

All parts made in house (except for MSH)

Fit & Finish is nothing short of spectacular for its cost

Outstanding CS

I have/had high end Kimber, Colt, etc. DW makes them all look like a child built them.

Commander for carry.

Gov't for shooting and accuracy.

Which one under 1500? Wow. That covers a lot of territory. Guess it just depends on which one you like.

I like my Sig RCS, my gov't RIA, my Smith Gunsite, and my TacOps.

Also the Colt Officers Model, and my ugly, really butt ugly Taurus 1911 in 38Super. It's High Gloss blue/black with gold controls, and faux ivory grips. Can we say south of the border style?

Both of the TRPs I've owned had excellent triggers.  The one you fired at the LGS range should have been sent to Springfield for a repair.

I don't currently own a 1911, but it's on my wish list.  Before I buy one, I plan to take a long hard look at the Ruger SR1911.  For the money, I think it might deserve some serious consideration.

I think you'll like this gun. I have one my self and I really like it.

For the budget you put, you could find a decent series 70's gov colt. Or you could buy a new sr1911 which is based after that series for around $800 or less and use the rest for ammo. Sent from a mobile device
