  1. Actually I'd prefer not to say for 3 reasons. The first being I don't know what the companies exact policy on posting in public forums as an unofficial representative of the company. Second I don't really care to be bombarded with PMs and emails about certain products. Mainly because I am not an official spokes person of the company (we have a guy that handles web advertisement, etc.) Third, at some point I'm probably going to say (and probably already have) something inflammatory and I don't want someone emailing my boss and getting me fired. I hope you can understand and respect my reasoning.

  2. The Muslim will preach tolerance toward them, they will not show it to anyone. It is their plan to get the American people to be trained to have tolerance, that way we dont question what they are doing.

  7. I'll add that when you talk of firing in Vietnam you need to realize that soldiers very often didn't see an enemy due to the dense undergrowth.  The job was to repulse the enemy's ambush or attack with rapid and sustained fire.  Volume counted, not necessarily accuracy like it was one on one or on a range.        Most of the rounds didn't go over the jungle, they went into it as fast as possible until the other side stopped fiting or you ran out of ammo.

  8. I had a FTF with a business owner that has a gun buster sign on the door. First it started with him having to meet me outside his restaurant and me buying him lunch at another restaurant within walking distance of his. He seemed a little thrown off that I would even offer that. During our conversation he pulled out a business card that was handed to one of his door guys. The card was an IOU for $20.00 redeemable when this person is legally able to carry in his resturant. It said " I was intending on spending money at your business but you do not allow legal gun carry. This is an IOU for $20 redeemable as soon as the gun buster sign comes down and I can legally carry in your business." It also left contact info for that person. I have never seen this before and apparently it got his attention. I think i might make up some of these cards. He said he contacted me because of an email I sent him letting him know that I would answer any questions he has about why I will not spend any money at his restaurant. Also during that discussion I found out that he has never even held a firearm, and knew a buisness owner that was killed by a robber with a gun. It was a long lunch that seemed very productive. He is meeting me at the range next Friday. He said he is rethinking the gun buster, especially after I asked him to point out where my gun was and he could not. I told him that most people are not OC'ing, they want it to go unnoticed. I will update after we meetup next week.

  12.   TNDOS would be wise to not use that one again for a long while...  Too many eyes watching them over the Yeager HCP squabble...  They start going after otherwise law abiding citizens who make a simple mistake with life time bans, they'll likely have the law changed in short order.   And lets be clear, this is a simple mistake...  There are a lot of members of this very board that don't totally understand all the TN firearm laws...  it's very easy to see somebody being honestly confused over when you can or can't have a loaded long gun with an HCP.   He could also argue he understood 39-17-1308a4 (otherwise lawful activity) to include protesting for his 2nd Amendment rights :)   And why is it the legislature bans long gun carry?  How does this guy pose a more serious risk to the public than an ar pistol or any other pistol?  Maybe it's time we start pushing the legislature to lift the ban on long gun carry?

  13. My problem is, I don't ever get rid of anything.  I go through phases, but most importantly I appreciate all quality firearms, and just can not justify getting rid of anything.  I made a promise to myself years ago, to buy at minimum one gun per year.  Problem, I always exceed the at minimum requirement.

  18. There seem to be some folks who feel that they have some sort of obligation to set the police "right" to the extent of doing so at the side of the road or on a sidewalk...I don't know if it's some natural mistrust of police or if it comes from past bad experience or a misguided belief that it proves that the civilian values his freedom and independence more than the next guy if he argues with or corrects the officer(s) when he has an encounter with a LEO that may not, in the opinion of the civilian, know the law correctly.   I do agree with the prior statement that in general, one should never give consent to search (and there are a good reasons why you shouldn't)...the police may search anyway but that's not the point.   I agree that LEOs make mistakes on the law and that should be taken up with supervisors later but you absolutely can be charged with a crime that doesn't exist or that the citizen thinks doesn't exist - if the police actually make a mistake and arrest you for something that actually isn't a crime or they conduct an illegal search or make other mistakes, that should be dealt with in a courtroom, not out on the street.   As far as I can tell, the OP's friend did nothing wrong...it appears he was carrying openly (or concealed very poorly)...the officers also did nothing wrong by stopping him since, without an HCP, it is illegal to carry a weapon in public (openly or concealed) in TN...as far as I know, police can and often will run the SN or a firearm (VIN numbers on a vehicle, etc.) and they have the legal right to do so...I can't see that the police did anything wrong here save for their mistaken instructions about carrying a round in the chamber and I hope the OP's friend takes it up with those officer's supervisors.   Other than that one mistake by the officers, this whole thread seems much ado about very little.

  19. You dont consent to a search or consent to having the serial number run on anything you own, just like you dont talk to the cops when they arrest or accuse you of a crime. Its not about hiding something, its about protecting yourself.

  20. Have you read his “manifesto”?   Let’s say everything he claims is true. Do good cops get railroaded? Yes they do, just like innocent people go to prison. Do they go on a rampage and start killing the children of the people that railroaded them? Of course they don’t.   Do we know what happened in that hearing? No, we have one side… his. Will we know? Probably, I assume the media is trying to get the transcripts. Will it change anything? No.   “The people who fear him” are civilians; cops don’t fear him anymore than any other murdering thug. They are hunting him and they will find him. And if they have to kill him they will be accused of murdering him.   As best I can tell this guy was a cop for about a year and a half? He attacked two cops because he claimed they called someone a N*****.  He does not deny that he attacked them and choked one of them before other Officers broke it up. Is that someone you think should be a cop on the street? He should have been gone right then. He follows that up by saying “What I should have done, was put a Winchester Ranger SXT 9mm 147 grain bullet in his skull and Officer XXXX’s skull. The Situation would have been resolved effective, immediately.”  Yes, LAPD certainly made an error in that case didn’t they?   Do you hate bad cops? Read his manifesto and you will see that this guy was one before that hearing or the event leading up to it ever took place.

  21.   IMHO the NRA could find a better face and voice than LaPierre.  He is not inspirational at all, I find him to be a very poor speaker who often comes off as unprepared.   As for supporting the NRA I think we all support what they do, probably not with dollar bills though.  Even as important as the NRA is,if it comes down to sending money to them or paying for groceries, gasoline and electricity I am pretty sure where the money is going to go.  In a perfect world there would be enough money in my wallet to all for all four items, sadly there is not.   And to be very clear I do not endorse giving up the fight.

  22. I like my squirrel cooked with dumplings. The following recipe is killer and "those" folks who swear they don't like skwerls, will never know what hit them when they eat this stuff. You can sit back and snicker when it's all said and done! And have a "cold one" on me!   2-4 Squirrels (dead) and cleaned very well to insure all hair is cleaned away. 1 stalk of celery thinly sliced 2 carrots thinly sliced 1 can Cream of Celery soup 1 can of Cream of Chicken soup 1 can of Chicken Broth Water 10-12 cups (enough to completely cover squirrels. adjust as needed) 1 table spoon ground sage 2 packs of frozen dumplings (you can also make your own or use canned biscuits) Salt and Pepper to taste   1. Place chicken broth, squirrels, water and sage into a 4 quart or larger pot. Bring to a boil, lower heat to medium/low cover and allow to simmer for about 45 minute to an hour or until the squirrels are tender. 2. When squirrels are tender, remove squirrels and allow to cool. Save contents of pot. 3. While the squirrels are cooling, add diced celery, carrots and both cans of soup to the pot. Allow to gently simmer uncovered. 4. When the squirrels are cool enough to handle, pull all meat from the bones. Return the meat to the pot and chunk the bones and shot into the trask can, unless you collect weird stuff of course.. 5. Bring contents of pot to a boil. 6. Using homemade dumplings (my preference, good recipes on the web) Canned Biscuits or Frozen Dumplings, Drop dumplings into boiling broth and cook until done. If using canned biscuits, pinch off bits of biscuits and drop into broth. Homemade dumplings can be rolled out very thin, cut into strips and dropped into the broth, or dropped by the spoonfull. When all dumplings are in the pot, reduce heat to medium and cook for about 15 mins, stirring occasionaly to avoid stick. Serve, salt and pepper to taste.   This is one of my favorite "Deer camp" recipes cooked over an open fire. It is also great cooked at home in a civilized kitchen! Ya'll please enjoy!   Dave S

  29.   What you must understand is gun owners have nothing to gain in the never ending game of "compromise". We will lose every time.   Giving up one thing for the sake of another is not good.  Eventually you will have nothing.   The way this country works now is just about anyone can make some kind of complaint and somebody else has to give something up to shut them up.  That is not right.

  33. Just wondering, how many people here have planted heirloom seeds, even if in a small garden and during harvest recovered enough seeds for the following year? I know allot of people are storing these heirloom seeds as part of their survival plan, but does everyone feel confident they would be able to produce a garden with them. Also for those that have never had gardens, keep in mind that the seeds are not magic, they take time to grow before they produce. Also during a survival situation any fertilizer is going to be a luxury item. I know this is the wrong time of year but Next spring, I plan to plant a herb and vegetable garden from heirloom seeds. I think other people that have a place should consider doing the same just for practice. I mean it has been since I was a kid I really worked in a garden and back then gardens where fields. Now I only have a small place in my backyard, that I plan to expand over the winter to have ready for spring. I am going to see how efficient I can get my small garden space, trying to plant things that work well together(yea I am sure that will work great for me.) Currently my garden is it only 4x8. I can probably make it 8x8 by spring. I would almost say we should make this a challenge for people to see how many different kinds of herbs and vegetables they can grow.

  39. He’s a delusional sociopath that executed innocent civilians and ambushed some cops. I don’t see how that makes the LAPD look like fools. LAPD has not refused to do everything they can. He said in his manifesto that if they reopened the investigation the killing would stop. They have done that. To negotiate with a homicidal maniac is a big step for them. He’s just another murdering thug with a gun. That will be his legacy. To think that he can clear his or name or that anyone is going to forgive him for murdering the family members of people he is pizzed off at shows just how far gone his mind is.

  40. Put your skeptic glasses on for this book guys. The authors do not have direct access or even indirect access to the information they claim to know. There are a lot of assumptions made here regarding who knew what and when they knew it. Even the most high level folks in the community (who aren't going to risk their security clearance leaking information to these two guys for a book) would not have access to some of this info, which makes me very suspicious. I think some of their "sources" may be leading on more than they actually know, and I think these two authors are aware of that on some level, but hey, sensationalism sells and they are clearly marketing a product here. Like I said, put you skeptic glasses on when you read this and you'll see what I'm talking about.

  42.       Indeed. This is essentially the same point I made last night to a colleague who is in support of the ban on "assault weapons" and high-capacity magazines stating that only the police and the military have a "need" for these items.   Why do the police get special privilege?  Because they protect us from crime?   Anyone who is informed and honest will admit that the police cannot protect people from violent crime.  In virtually all cases, the police simply respond and help clean up the mess.  It's up to individuals to defend themselves against criminals.  In my 10 years in law enforcement, 8 on patrol, I can think of very few cases of serious violent crime where the police intervened and prevented death or serious injury of the victim.

  43. Usually, congresscritters ignore folks that are not in their district.  I like to spice things up by showing them the error of their ways.   "Senator Manchin, I am in Tennessee, but what you are proposing affects everyone in the country.  So, here's the deal:  If you accept ANY infringement in the Right of the People to keep and Bear arms (including magazine limits, ammo limits, background checks, etc), then I will donate $20 to your opponent in your next Primary.  I know that you believe that you are 'safe' since that won't be until 2018.  But firearms owners have long memories.  And I promise that I will do all I can to ensure that this will not be forgotten.   If you are looking for a way to 'compromise' on the gun issue, consider re-reading the Oath you swore last month to "...support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same..".  The operative part of the Second Amendment is very simple.  "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed".  How can you say that restrictions on private citizens are not an infringement?  I submit that ALL Federal Gun Control are infringements.  So, a good compromise would be to repeal the 1994 Brady Act as well as the 1986 Hughes Amendment to the FOPA, instead of the 1968 GCA and 1934 NFA as well.   Sincerely, me"   They really hate that part of "I will donate $20 to your opponent in your next Primary".  But be prepared to follow-up on it.  Otherwise it's meaningless.  As someone from out-of-state, that's about all you can do.

  44. I've corresponded with Courtney Rogers, 45th District, some, and wanted to share my most recent missive from her.  This is in response to some questions Id asked her:   Real quick, because I am swamped.... oh- but first, if you ever come to Nashville, would love to meet you in person!  Ok, I have signed onto the 'safe commute' bill as a co-sponsor - but there are some issues with it as it came out of the Senate the other night that may be too restrictive, will look more into that.  Am also co-sponsoring the bill that doesn't allow publication of permit holder list in TN....  Hmmm, what else.  Signing onto the HB 042 by Joe Carr that makes it a crime for anyone trying to enforce confiscation of arms in TN.   Also, FYI....  am joining the 10th Amendment Caucus!   Blessings!   Courtney

  45. So my wife and I decided to do a little metal detecting. We were in an area that probably hasn't had a lot of people shooting in it for a very long time. During out adventures I got a blip about something small about 6" down. As she dug she found an unfired 22 that was at least 4" in the soil. It was pretty well packed soil so the round had been buried for quite some time. It was on the side of a hill that I frequented as a kid, some 35 years ago. Not saying the round was 35 years old but it was under 4+ inches of soil so it wasn't placed there yesterday. Here is the picture as found: I was able to determine it was a Federal. I have no clue why the tip was like that though. The lead did have white corrosion. So the next thing that pops into my head is I wonder if it will fire? I grab my Taurus PT22 because I could care less if the bore gets scratched. I chamber it, which was hard becuse of the dirt and corrosion, and I pull the trigger. BANG!!! Although it didn't extract it did in fact go off which I do find this pretty amazing. Dolomite

  46. Yeah, but regular folks get a by for being ignorant. Someone who is enforcing the law needs to know better. I would have corrected those officers if they said such a thing. I can only imagine they would disagree with me and be forced to take me to jail when I re chamber a round. I'm not sure what my recourse would be for being arrested for breaking a law that doesn't exist, but I'm not going to be dictated the law from someone who doesn't even know it.
