1. God, I sound like Al Bundy. You know "a fat woman came in the shoe store today...." Well this BMW driving goober with his nice clothes, metrosexual attitude and three little fairies for sons came in. I was putting a tire back on the car when one of the little kids ran back to his daddy and says "daddy, daddy, that man has a gun!!!". The man told the kids "Thats called an impact wrench, it looks like a gun but it only works on cars. It's perfectly safe". To which the kid replies, "No daddy, he has a REAL gun". The man the asked me(quite appalled ) " Sir, wha, wha, why uhhhh, Do you have a gun?". I says "Yeah, don't you?" He tells me "NO! I don't allow my family anywhere near firearms." I told him " Huh, well how does that keep your family safe from someone who don't give a ratz azz what you believe in? You know, they call them criminals for a reason, they don't care about laws, right or wrong. You think a criminal will wait around while you call the cops and then wait a little while longer till they get here? What you THINK means nothing, you chose to have a family and you're charged with their safety. Can you honestly tell me youre doing everything to provide it?" ...he probably won't be a repeat customer. Oh-frickin-well. It is sad people. Sad. You ain't gotta be a gun nut like us. I ain't big fan of driving nails but I own a hammer. I hate diggin ditches but I got a shovel. It's just a tool you hope you don't have to use but it sure sucks when you ain't got one.....and you're on the spot, in need of one. Why is that hard to understand? Where does this sense of "Avoidance will make me safe" come from? These are the people who will hide in the bathroom or basement when a volcano erupts. Yeah, duck and cover! Idiots. Rant over.

 2. A yuppie opened the door of his BMW, when suddenly a car came along and hit the door, ripping it off completely. When the police arrived at the scene, the yuppie was complaining bitterly about the damage to his precious BMW. "Officer, look what they've done to my Beeeeemer!!!", he whined. "You yuppies are so materialistic, you make me sick!!!", retorted the officer. "You're so worried about your stupid BMW, that you didn't even notice that your left arm was ripped off!!!" "Oh my gaaawd...," replied the yuppie, finally noticing the bloody left shoulder where his arm once was, "Where's my Rolex?!!!!!"

 5. leave five minutes earlier whipper-snapper ;)   I drive slow,  not 30 in a 50 but less than 60 on the interstate on my work commute and never over the speed limit on surface streets.  I used to haul ass.  I discovered taking my time gives me less stress and does not even cost five minutes on a 20 mile commute.   if it is me you are flipping off as you go by I will be the guy smiling and waving.

Then I top it off with my ultra cool conceal carry badge. Noone says anything to me. But I think the key is wearing your baseball cap backwards while following the steps above.

 12. ATK sent out a statement to all dealers and distributors regarding the shortage of ammunition that is plaguing our industry. Here's the word straight from the horse's mouth: "Dear Valued Customer, As you are aware, the unprecedented demand for commercial ammunition has exceeded the industry’s ability to service the marketplace in the near term and has resulted in an industry‐wide shortage at most retail outlets. With more than 2,000 dedicated employees working diligently around the clock, we continue to take appropriate action across our manufacturing enterprise to increase and align production capacity in response to this demand and, ultimately, service your needs – this is our first priority! Despite our consistent and dedicated efforts, there remains much speculation and misinformation regarding the availability of commercial ammunition. In one example, there are a vocal few who believe that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is buying excessive quantities of ammunition thereby restricting availability to the commercial market. Simply stated, this is a false and baseless claim. In fact, we do supply the DHS with a small percentage of ammunition in select calibers consistent with our contractual requirements. However, the commercial market receives the vast majority of ammunition produced to serve the needs of civilian hunters and shooting sports enthusiasts. As a committed partner to the shooting sports industry, we thank you for your support in dispelling unfounded rumors relating to the supply and demand of commercial ammunition. We continue to support the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) in representing the legislative interests of our industry."

 18. Go spend some time in San Diego and you will find out the email person was serious. I got pulled over 17 times in 6 months. All 17 were for smog checks, on a modified (turbo, injectors, exhaust, r compound tires, yada yada) 2004 WRX wagon with TN plates and I was an out of state resident due to military, which means I am not required to smog my vehicle or follow their smog laws. 17 times I explained this to the officer, and 14 of those still wrote me smog violation tickets in excess of $500 for car modifications. I went to court with all 14 tickets and all 14 ruled in my favor. I had the same cop do it 5 times. I was never once pulled over for speeding or anything else other than smog checks, so they had no reason to "know" my car. Yep sounds like they were serving and protecting to me. What that police officer failed to mention was that Socal cops get put on traffic duty, or did then. I don't kniw if thats shit duty or what, but they have a chip on their shoulder and a hard on for any car or truck that looks or sounds modified. Not to mention walking around drag strips, autocrosses, dyno days and car meets writing down makes, models and tag numbers in UNIFORM. Thank God the LEO's around here aren't like that. 21. my original theory was the manager pursued to get a license number or more info for police.  Seems that was true.  I do not see that as out of the ordinary at all.  I was robbed at gunpoint some time ago and i also went outside to see if I could get more information to give police.  I will venture a guess that this action is a common occurrence after a robbery occurs.   I do not see DaveTN as a news source, just another commenter on this board.  This story from KNS and first hand comments from the store manager seem to clarify any question as to what actually happened.  Previous stories included no direct quotes from the man, only second or third hand information.

 25. I don't go under the speed limit, but I do like to leave a looong healty follow distance to the car in front of me.  It's saved me more than once.  People seem to not like it, so they pass me, pull up and then I back off again.  I really don't see how being 30 yards further up and going the exact same speed is better.   I watched one of those "I'm in a hurry" lane jumpers the other day.  He was whipping back and forth across 4 lanes of traffic, jumping ahead.  I watched him cross all the way back and forth 3 or 4 times.  He never got out of my visual range the entire commute, while I sat in the same lane, poking along at the speed limit with my long follow distance.  My conclusion: aggressive driving doesn't really gain you anything but an ulcer.

 35.   Sort of.  I see it as a circle, not a line, though.  The far right is as ugly as the far left, but far less common.   If you take it to extremes, the right leads to a strong military government or even a king type figure.   It leads to military expansion and might makes right type behaviors.   Often it leads to a form of nationalism that is intolerant of everything else, which can lead to racist elements and an ego that "we are superior and deserve the best, and we shall take what we want from the lesser beings".     Extremism of anything --- political, religious, cultural, etc --- leads to violence.  Once a faction becomes so sure that their path is the one and only way to exist, tolerance is thrown away, and violence is inevitable.  Once this state is reached, oddly, the far left and far right merge and the distinctions blur.    Ironically, the extreme left today uses violence to combat what they see as injustice and intolerance.   They are, at the extreme in the USA, intolerant of intolerance, which is funny to me.     By most folks' definitions, you get extreme left: socialism/communism extreme right: police state, king, nazis(?). extreme libertarians: anarchy   and all 3 of those (and the others I did not bother to list) become very similar in the long run, using the time tested and proven methods of mass executions, brain washing, political prisons/ camps,  heavy handed enforcer arm, dependent peasant populations, military conquest, and so on.

 39.
this sheds some light, seems the manager returned fire of the guy fleeing. “I saw the gun,” Smith said. “I heard the shot. I didn’t hit the ground. I fired.” The gunman missed, but Smith hit his mark. Knoxville Police Department officers found the body of Justin Pierre Jackson, 30, in a nearby alley less than half an hour later. Police also found Jackson’s gun, a .38-caliber revolver, along with around $600 in cash and a bullet hole in the shed behind the Dollar General, 4112 Asheville Highway, where Smith, a former soldier and Gulf War veteran, worked as manager the night of Feb. 27 when Jackson picked the store to rob. http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2013/may/03/ex-dollar-general-store-manager-recalls-gunfight/

So people can shoot at you when their back is turned? I'll be damned. Just a few posts up someone said that anyone who shoots someone in the back is a coward and a murderer.

 41. Yeah, I see the officer loosing his job, pension and likely getting some sort of legal penalties. I personally he gets some time in jail but I suspect it will be probation.   One thing I wish would happen is that officers could not hide behind their department. I mean if an officer screws up the officer should be responsible for legal costs related to trial in his defense, not the tax payers. Then the victim should be able to get damages from the officer with the jurisdiction picking up the remainder of the award that the officer can't pay. Yes, any suit lists the officer as a defendant but they rarely, if ever, have to pay out of pocket. At least not the cases I have had personal knowledge of.

 42. weird..I never hada problem with semi`s..in fact most are more courteous than pov drivers..I let them merge and they either blink their lights or honk to thank me. And without those semi`s..a lot of stuff would not get to be delivered...the logistics involved is imense and we need semi`s in our world to get our stuff. I rather put up with semi`s than some people who thinks they own the road.. if I would get upset/yell/throw a fit everytime some idiot pissed me off on the road..I wouldhave  had a massive corronary long time ago...

 43. If it's the strain of Norovirus that's been prevalent this year, bleach is your ultimate friend.  From a friend of mine at the CDC:   Bleach trumps all when disinfecting surfaces, toys etc...  Doesn't need to be full strength.  Normal cleaning dilution is fine. Hand sanitizer is ineffective against it.  But soap and water works fine. It can live on surfaces for days, and some people continue to shed the virus for 3 days after symptoms have stopped No preparing food for others for three days after symptoms have stopped For little ones who can't reliably keep their hands clean, quarantine is key For little ones who get sick, dehydration is the biggest factor - hydrate as much as possible

 48. Since we are on peeves... Semi Drivers.  Here I am kicking it down I40 at a respectable 78ish MPH, making good time and staying out of people's way who want to do 85.  It never fails, two semi's in the right lane.  The rear semi waits until I am within ten seconds of passing and they move on over to pass the semi in front of them.  Now, they don't pass with any urgency, no, the guy passing is doing 66 and the guy being passed is doing 65.  Why can't you do one of two things: speed up...or WAIT UNTIL I PASS!  I mean, I will only be there for five seconds.  No, we have to spend five freakin' minutes doing below the speed limit because you are an A'hole and can't wait five seconds.  I travel a lot, and on a typical drive to Memphis and back, this happens a dozen times. Grrr!
