Yeah, that triple shooting/homicide they had a few days ago was boring stuff too... And, if that "teen" had just assaulted your mother trying to steal her pain/cancer meds maybe it wouldn't be so funny to you, idiot. Talk out of your ass elsewhere if you're not interested. I'm just trying to help out the TGO folks who might be.15 points

We had a mugging inside the parking garage stairwell at my company a few weeks ago in the middle of the day. Details have been slow to leak out but apparently the perp intimated that he had a weapon, but never showed one. Several of us generally do, so it's lucky for the perp that he chose someone a little more compliant. A stairwell can work two ways for a robbery. On one hand, if the victim complies it's a pretty secluded place to get away with some shit. On the other hand, if your victim turns the tables on you, there's no place for you to run and an epic ass-beating can ensue. I'll drag your ass back inside the stairwell and keep beating the ever loving shit out of you if you try to run after threatening to mug me and fail to produce a weapon. :lol:4 points

Always wanted to make a machete or knife so a few weeks ago I bought an old hand saw at a yard sale for $3, used a pack of Dremal cutting discs to cut it out, had a piece of cherry for the handle and sanded and blued it. Kept the saw teeth on top, cut a clip on top, made the sheth last night. It's a little flexable even for a machete but I made it just for the fun of it, probably will never use it for anything. I might try a smaller knife from a circular saw blade someday. 3 points

Gues what happens when you try that...you get tansported to the hospital where they determine that ther is nothing wrong with you. Now everyone knows you are a liar...guess what the investigaring officers and the DA are going to think? Gues what will come out at trial? It's important that a person be cautions of what he says and how he says it but there is one universal truth in this situation; when you do speak TELL THE TRUTH; criminals lie.3 points

The problem most folks here have with the call for "open mindedness" on this issue is that to believe that the present gubmt is somehow following the law requires you to deny what your eyes, ears, and intellect is telling you. It also requires you to have a child-like belief in the alturism of government and the uprightness of its bureaucratic corps and elected officials; not to mention the fact that you have to discount and ignore the mountain of data and reports of mis-deeds as somehow the musings of mad men. I simply do not believe that anyone with a smattering of genuine concern for the Constitution and the Bill of Rights can believe that what is going on with the PRISM program is constitutional or lawful. leroy2 points

Kinda like what happened today?: "Dr. Valerie Rao, who was called by the prosecution to provide her assessment of Zimmerman's injuries based on photos, cast doubt on Zimmerman's claim his head was repeatedly bashed against the pavement as he fought with Martin in the Feb. 26, 2012 incident. "The injuries are so minor that the word slam implies great force," Rao said in response to questioning by prosecutor John Guy. "There was not great force used here." Rao said Zimmerman's injuries were not only "not life threatening" but were also "very insignificant." She said the injuries to the back of Zimmerman's head were consistent with hitting the ground but the injuries on his face were from consistent with one punch or strike." Read more: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/07/02/detective-returns-to-stand-in-zimmerman-trial/?test=latestnews#ixzz2Xvimhlds I read this and can't help but think...very easy to say for the person that didn't get their head beat on concrete. I'm sorry, but getting my head banged ONCE on the concrete without me being able to escape from someone on top of me and I'll be in reasonable fear of my life. Getting punched is one thing, getting your head bounced off concrete is another2 points

One thing has been quite evident; if you're ever involved in a similar situation, keep your mouth shut. I understand Zimmerman feeling the need to clear his name, but the prosecution can and will every single word against you. If it weren't for so much talking, I think the prosecution would have had about 30 minutes of evidence. Don't talk to your wife, best friend, parents, no one.2 points

Did Zimmerman attempt to follow Martin to see where he had gone? Apparently. Did he engage in a “foot pursuitâ€? No. Calling Zimmerman's actions a "foot pursuit" seems a pejoritive in this context; designed to paint Zimmerman’s acts as something they weren’t. If you want to believe Zimmerman is guilty then of course, he was in a “foot pursuitâ€; I say that because using phrases like “foot pursuit†seems intentionally designed to conjure up a picture of the want-a-be cop chasing down a fleeing suspect just like we’ve all seen happen a thousand times on “Copsâ€. Not only does this conjure up a picture of a cop-want-a-be (which the evidence shows the Zimmerman was NOT) but it also ignores Zimmerman’s story that he got out of his vehicle to find the street signs so he could give the 911 operator a good location (and while, again, those want to believe Zimmerman is guilty won’t believe Zimmerman’s story, so far, all the evidence of the PROSECUTION’S own witnesses has not only not contradicted Zimmerman’s story but has actually supported Zimmerman's story). You make a large and unsupported leap of logic to assume that had Zimmerman never gotten out of his truck there would never have been a physical altercation and no need for Zimmerman to shoot Martin - the assertion is simply without substance. 1. Were I trying to give police an exact location of some of the streets in my neighborhood on a rainy night I’d probably have to get out of my truck to. 2. Further, there is simply NOTHING WRONG with a man getting out of his truck whether it’s to locate a street sign or to see where a suspicious person has gone. NOTHING WRONG and NOTHING ILLEGAL. 3. Finally; there is nothing about Zimmerman staying in his truck that would have created some magical protection from Martin. Based on what we know of Martin it seems reasonable to conclude that Martin was either a thug or on his way to being one…as such, it’s not unreasonable to conclude that Martin was going to have a “confrontation†and whether it took place on the sidewalk or not doesn’t change that dynamic. In other words, there is zero reason to believe that Martin wouldn’t have attacked Zimmerman even if Zimmerman was in/had never gotten out of his truck and if he had so attacked Zimmerman, the law in most states recognizes that the victim is at a distinct disadvantage when seated in a vehicle and attacked – in those cases, a victim has even less options to resist than if the victim is out walking (sitting in a vehicle and especially if you are belted in is akin to being locked in a cage when someone is trying to pound you). People are free to believe anything they want but at this point, believing that Zimmerman caused this problem is a belief not based on any of the evidence I've seen.2 points

Best comment on another forum; "Simple legal question. Should BDLR (the prosecuting attorney) send GZ a bill for GZ’s defense before or after the “not guilty†verdict is read? Yeah, Zimmerman (neighborhood watch captain, remember?) shouldn't have gotten out of his truck. He should have just driven through the yards where Martin was trespassing so that he could tell the dispatcher which way Martin ran. Even with the transcript of the call between Z and police dispatch, even after Martins' girlfriend reported that Martin got to his dad's yard and then went back to ambush Zimmerman (who was by then on his way back to his vehicle), even with all the physical evidence, some people are really wedded to their original theory that Zimmerman was 'pursuing' Martin and is thus guilty of causing the incident. Is there some sort of mental block preventing them from processing new information? Or is this just another instance of the 'don't get involved' mentality at work?2 points

I'll be heading out to Rangemaster in Memphis at Zero dark thirty tomorrow (Saturday) morning for my first training class this year; a two day, 20 hour class with Massad Ayoob on the rules of engagement for armed law-abiding private citizens. While certainly not as "glitzy" as rifle, shotgun or pistol training on a range such as I've taken at Tactical Response, this is a class I've been looking forward to for quite a while! :) For those of you who aren't familiar with Massad he is someone you really need to become familiar with and especially some of his excellent books such as the classic "In the Gravest Extreme; The Role of the Firearm in Personal Protection (ISBN-10: 0936279001) I don't claim any special talent at doing such things but I'll try to offer my impressions of the class and highlights of what was covered! http://massadayoobgroup.com/1 point

RE: The Civil War wuz about slavery??!!! That's the official narrative for the masses... I say "no"; not completely... It wuz about the usual thing that war is about. ....Control of others.... . There were pretty serious differences simmering between the northern and southern states as far back as Andrew Jackson's presidency; he, unlike Lincoln, solved them without a war. These differences were largely about the cost of goods goin south vs north and tarriffs as i remember. It was also about "nullification" (...interestin word aint it; heard it lately?...) of federal law by the individual states ALA John C. Calhoun (...check his bio out, interestin read...). Slavery was a contributor to the war because of the slave state - free state thing. The issue of slavery was an odious thing to any free people (...it should be...) and many didnt like the idea of buying, selling, and working your brothers and sisters as private property. It was continually wrestled with in the United States legislature, courts, churches, and culture because of its odious nature; it's the problem of "...life, liberty, and the pursuit of happines thing..... Slavery was a "hot button" issue of convenience to add another dimension to the real causes of the civil war. It was "in the news" in other places (...the British Empire...) and had been recently abolished there (...1833...); by peaceful means, i might add. Here in the united states; the usual demigogues in politics used the issue to their collective advantage to involk some degree lo legititmacy to the union cause. The civil war wuz about the usual stuff.... Decide to impose your will on your brother while pretending to be freeing someone else (...sounds like modern times with afganistan and other places to me.....) ..... Remember this; the civil war started in 1861. The emancipation proclamation wuz signed in 1863.... More than that; there were slaves freed in the confederacy contingent on military service to the confederacy; pretty much the same as there wuz up north; but no one talks about that. It doesnt fit the narrative. If the civil war wuz all about slavery; how come it took so long to get around to freeing the slaves??? Two years is a long time, especially in a war....Interestin to think about aint it?? More than that, the slave thing wuz dying in the western world. William Wilberforce (...a real Christian, by the way for you "unaffilliated" folks -- read his bio. You will be impressed...) was the driving force in ending slavery throughout the British Empire without firing a shot in 1833. A much bigger slave population than that in the US was freed without any bloodshed. Very interesting; dont you think?? Remember this:..."History is written by the victors." ... The winners always cannonize and confer sainthood on their operatives to justify their actions whether those actions are honorable or not. Never believe the "official accounts" of anything. They may not tell the whole truth (...imagine that!!...). leroy1 point

I don't agree. That is like saying that the Revolution was fought over simply taxes. Sure, that was a driving force, but it was really about being subjected to tyranny. Nobody likes to have a finger pointed into their chest and told, "because I'm going to MAKE you do this." I was ready to revolt over Bloomberg's soda ban, and I don't even drink soda or live in New York. I just don't like the idea of someone who is a thousand miles away and doesn't represent me trying to tell me what to do, even if my actions are wrong. Let that be decided by my leadership. There is no question that slavery was evil. I don't think that automatically makes anyone associated with the Confederacy evil though. Just like I don't think everyone who sported a swastika in WW2 was evil. Over a dozen of my ancestors fought on the side of the Confederacy. I don't believe they did because they cared about some rich ahole and his slaves. Our family never owned slaves. Many of my family members fly the Stars and Bars in their front yard. I don't necessarily agree with it for different reasons than you, but I can tell you it isn't because they are racists and it isn't because they're ignorant.1 point

The situation came to Zimmerman? So someone made him stop his vehicle, get out and become involved in a foot pursuit of a person who was apparently not engaged in any illegal activity even after the police dispatcher advised him not to do so? Wow, the force must have been really strong in that Trayvon character for him to make Zimmerman do all that just so he might get a chance to beat Zimmerman's head against the ground.1 point

Well I guess as long as no one ELSE can move behind cover then it is still an even playing field....which is what they strive for...in a game...And no matter how "more" tactical IDPA is than IPSC it is still ...just a game. And games have rules. IDPA is a test of one's shooting and gun handling ability under the stress of a timer and peer witness set in the backdrop of somewhat realistic shooting problems where you carry guns the same way that some people carry them on the street. That is all it is. The difference between it and any other game are simply the rules. Is IDPA truly "tactical"? No. Is it "training"? No...but sadly some do not know the difference and use it as such. Again , it is a test of accuracy and gun handling skills in a setting that somewhat replicates some possible street scenarios. So I just look at as whether I'm able to solve the problem that has been set forth faster than the other competitors....with no illusions that what we are doing is how I would REALLY do it on the street. SOME stages can come close but most do not. The stages that run like ...."You are standing at the ATM machine....at buzzer turn to your right and engage the metal knockdown target 6 yards away without hitting the NO shoot at 4 yards"....are far more realistic than any 18 shot 9 target stage. But it is still not "real" as no one moves or shoots back and running away (which is a viable answer most of the time on the street) is never an option. So I guess what I'm saying is that since I just look at the matches as a fun break from more realistic training pursuits I do not feel the sense of anger that some do over some of the seemingly arbitrary rules. I get that it is a game and as such as long as EVERYONE has to deal with the same arbitrary rules then it is "even" for everyone and still a test of shooting and gun handling skills.1 point

I don't get along well with most people on this subject. As a believer I get shunned for even harboring the thought. Oh well. I've been labeled a blasphemer for saying this but, I wouldn't serve a God that would be sadistic enough to demand I stay here in pain and misery as opposed to punching out early. I have no issues with it and can't say in all honesty that I won't choose the same thing. As far as the church goes, well I despise organized religion and I can tell you why the church says its a sin. It means less people filling the coffers and offering plates. In the past, it would have meant less people to subjugate. It's never been about the soul, it's always been about control. Christ loves everyone and wants nothing more than peace and happiness in our lives. How does stage four stomach cancer figure into that?1 point

Just catching up on all of the discussions on the thread. Good post Cool Hand Luke! Rickey, If you do not obtain your SO certification there will be no way to get you as a club contact for Brush Creek. Spiffy/RWF you are correct. It is MY job to ensure all clubs follow the rules of the IDPA affiliation and work with the MD accordingly. I do go around to clubs in KY/TN to observe how they run matches and make suggestions within the guidelines of IDPA rulebook. I am required to be at EVERY sanctioned event to oversee the match. My main hang up with the rulebook was the subjectivity of the close to the muzzle safe point(180 degree) under the original release of the proposed rulebook back in May. Now that was removed, I am fine with it. Don't like some of it but I am not a policy maker with IDPA HQ. All of the other things were not so unreasonable that would cause myself or Music City Tactical Shooters of discontinue the affiliation. We still run other matches on other weekends and will do what our customer base ask for. As for non-IDPA members shooting IDPA events in sanctioned and/or local is a hard thing to ensure every club is doing it correctly. Music City Tactical Shooters and Gallatin Gun Club has it written in its club by-laws that members regardless of (example: IDPA or USPSA) membership allow their members to shoot any and all matches. Non IDPA members can be scored as 'XXX' by their name. The IDPA classifier is an official score to IDPA HQ and should only be open to members. The division for "Just for Fun" for RMR, .22 calibers carbines, etc is up to the MD of the club to recognize. IDPA has been so helpful in TN/KY in bringing new shooters to the range without having to worry about the $3000.00 "race" weapons to be competitive.1 point

This is very true. And its most visible in the military. You can stay single, live in a barracks, and get paid less, or you can get married, move off base as a low rank, get paid a ton of extra for housing and food, get seperations pay when deployed, etc. Marriage should have no affect on rights or benefits. sent from the backwoods1 point
