1. What I cannot figure out is why the northern people come down for our culture then start trying to change it by complaining at all the board and commission meetings! We actually had one say in our county commission meeting that we should be like where she came from. Our commissioner suggested that she go back where she came from since it already had everything in place for her. The look on her face was hilarious!!

 4. In the words of the late, great southerner, Lewis Grizzard, "come on down here. Eat our food, breathe our air, marry our women. There's just one thing we ask of you. Don't tell us how you used to do it back in Cleveland. We don't care. Cleveland's so great - Delta's ready when you are. We'll have you back there by 6:00 this evening if that's where you want to be."

 5.   What "hate" are you speaking of?  No one that I'm aware of is living in the past thinking there will be some great repeat of the of that war.    The simple fact is there are still significant cultural differences between the South and the north.  I am one of those that lament the decreasing uniqueness and individuality of my culture.

 8. Well I just had to like a few of those posts. God forbid we show any pride in our heritage or joy for the rebirth of the economy of the south. I don't feel anyone wants another civil war, but the scars of that war run deep and tend to escalate emotions in southerners that many cannot understand. But in the end we should remember we are all Americans , and we can all be proud of that. :)

 9. Well I have been doing some reading and it looks like the South is winning the war this time.  So far the Yankee unions are not allowed in the any Auto plants south of Mason / Dixon line and ahve to get in all of them and to date the Yankees have lost at least 5 Firearms companies to South or southwestern States. Don't look to good for the Yankees right now huh? They also didn't get into the Boeing Plant when they tried to force their way into South Carolina Boeing Plant  .......................jmho

 13.   It's an expansion, not a move. That gives them lots of flexibility. And you gotta figure too, these manufacturers shop several different states so they can get the best deal to offset capital. Picking up and moving a plant, complete with lapses in production is a whole nuther animal. The little guys are doing it in some cases, but not the big boys.   From what I've read, they're opening this new plant in Hunstville. That means there's a local pool of engineers and top notch machinists that you don't find in most places. I'm going to guess that Remington knows what they're doing, and will pull it off without even getting bruised. When it comes to the folks left in NY, it won't be the first time a bunch of liberal politicians killed a bunch of jobs. I remember the mass exodus out of Michigan in the late '70's. The smart ones left.

I'd never live there, and I'm cool with that. But I'm not gonna move up there and bitch about northerners. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

 15. Thank you everyone, it was a fun day with the wife and we had a very good time at the gunshow. Parking was only $5.00 and our entrance cost us $8.00 each. Now to the good stuff! About halfway down the first aisle was a large shelving unit filled with powder but unfortunately not the variants I was looking for. Very fortunate though was the large selection of primers and especially the big crate of 9mm fmj bullets. As I was tallying up everything I wanted I noticed a young lady working feverishly to help as many folks as she could. As she hurried by I quietly said, "Are you Samantha?" She locked up like a bird dog on point and turned to find out how I knew her. I explained that she came highly recommended on the TGO forum and I was a member. Suddenly for just a few moments, my wife and I became the most important people at the show! Between the great deals we got and the personal and friendly help from Sam, you can be sure this will not be our last transaction with these great folks. Thank you, Sam. I look forward to loading my 9mm's. If you're looking for reloading components, then like most others here on the TGO I recommend you check these folks out. You'll be pleased.

 18. You have otherwise law abiding citizens of CT sitting at home minding their own business...  and some statist gets a wild hair to violate the constitution and turn them into a felon...  And those citizens are supposed to wait around until the government shows up on their front door and tries to take their freedom or their life...  all the time minding their own business?   Frankly I think the citizens of CT have shown great restraint...  I'm half surprised in the days and weeks following the vote on this unconstitutional law a dozen of those legislators didn't end up face down in a ditch, or hanging from a light pole.  I suspect if word gets out that their going around to peoples homes looking for banned firearms, that restraint may well falter...  And some days I wonder if that shouldn't be the reaction a lot more often...     To paraphrase Norquist...  It might not be a bad idea for the government to worry the people might get unhappy with them one day, and drown the government in the nearest bathtub.

Pin comes out w zero effort ;) All fun aside some kroil or pb blaster may soak through and help, If it won't come loose try heating the block w a hair dryer or heat gun on low. I've had easy and ugly. It gets ugly when it's older easy when new. I use snap on pin punches w a dead blow hammer to get the most force to the fastener. Hope any of this helps.

 21.
Because in this state (and I would guess most others) you don’t get to kill people that you think are trying to deprive you of something. You get to kill people when a reasonable person (That means a jury; not what you made up in your mind) believes that you were in immediate danger of death or great bodily harm. I can remember when cops could shoot fleeing forcible felons…. And did. However, the bleeding heart criminal huggers put an end to that practice (for many states around the 80’s). So if you can’t shoot criminals that are in the act of a felony but fleeing, I doubt they will look favorably on you shooting those that you suspect of a crime. See how it works.
I can tell you exactly how it will work out for me. At some point in the future I will most likely be murdered by agents of the state unless I choose cowardice and accept the chains of slavery the state wishes for all of us. Some folks will wear them gladly, some folks will die by exercising their last inalienable right, the right to an unfair gunfight. To be clear on something I think you may be misinterpreting me and I want to ensure that I am 100% clear. I am not speaking about simple, petty crime. I am speaking about the civil war that I think has already begun much like the War Between the States began long before Fort Sumter. At the point anyone engages in that last unfair gunfight, their war is over and their battle was with the wrong people. The government agents who will come knocking in the early morning clad in black like the assassins they are aren't the real enemy. The real enemies are the politicians who send them and their media lapdogs who sell their lies to the masses. They are the ones who are deserving of the citizen vote of last resort now that the ballots are meaningless. When they understand that the wages of their sins against the people are a few dozen grains of lead to the cranium then they might begin to reconsider their crimes. I'm admittedly not very eloquent in making my case for right of armed response to the crimes of the state. The folks at sipseystreetirregulars.blogspot.com and westernrifleshooters.wordpress.org as well as Matthew Bracken are much better at it than I am.

 22.
You can call it that but it still isn't "self defense"; justified or otherwise. You said. paraphrasing, that you think the correct and appropriate consequences for the legislators and the individual's liberty and the lickspittles in the media that support their totalitarian schemes with their propaganda is to kill them. Well, unless those legislators and/or media types show up on your doorstep with guns blazing I don't see how you can call "killing them" as being "self defense". You don't "kill" people because they have a different political philosophy than you do...you don't kill people because they violate the Constitution...you vote them out of office...maybe you put them in jail for crimes if they've committed any; but you don't "kill them".
We are obviously never going to find agreement here as I don't believe in the validity of the state as an entity to even exist and you will defend its power over folks down to the ability to control what they choose to put in their front yard. I am a libertarian, an anarchist while you are an authoritarian statist. That is why when we do find agreement on an issue I always have to check my position to determine if I have built it on the solid moral grounds of freedom and liberty for the individual.

 23. Well the burden of what to do with it is now off my shoulders. I gave it back to him after I learned that his youngest son Casey had been hoping someday his father would pass the rifle down to him. Butch called me this morning and asked if he could have it back because he found out that Casey wanted it but never would ask him straight out for it. I was more than glad to give it back to him so he could pass it down to Casey. I think he is going to take it over to Casey's home soon as he left here. Problem solved and no ones feelings hurt I hope. Thank all of you for your help in identifying the gun and it's origin. Now if I run into an opportunity to get another one I will at least have an idea what I would be getting......

I think they make the best bolt actions rifles in the world and their user lists prove it. But I would be disappointed if they turned their backs on the employees who have made them what they are today. I know a lot of them won’t want to make the move, but I would think they would want to keep as many of their good people as they could. Their employees didn’t cause the problems they have.

 28. They all work mostly the same for cleaning IMO. The real difference lies with the ability to lubricate. I give the nod to balistol as the best all purpose CLP product. It cleans as well as anything, safe on pretty much any material, and does a pretty good job staying put as a lube. Grease maybe better if you use the right kind, but balistol works for me. I will sometimes open a jar of Hoppes just for the smell. B)

 29. The most negative comments I see are from those that are supposed to be pro-gun and pro-carry. Comments on why this won’t pass or why we can’t get this through. You are from TFA and it is my understanding you is a lobbyist. The TFA wants money; for what? For someone to come in here and tell us why this can’t pass? I apologize if I don’t understand the politics in play here, but are you saying we are wasting our time trying to get carry passed for all citizens? Sorry if I sound harsh, but I am not accepting that this legislation can’t pass. I don’t care how it got there, and for you to make the claim that it was proposed by at risk candidate who won by 4 votes sucks. Tell us what we need to do to make this happen.

 31. The sad thing is about this 'adult' game of snatching up every last .22 round on the planet, is that the kid's suffer. The .22 rimfire is the number one kid's gun, period. It's what our children cut their teeth on whether at the range or backwoods, plinking some coke cans. How many dad's and grandpa's are feeling the pinch of rimfire availability, to where its tough to take the kids out for an afternoon of burning a couple hundred rounds? A lot would be my guess.   The hoarders who think they have to stockpile 50,000 rounds of .22s for the end of the world ... well ... I'd call that a bit obsessive. :2cents:

I lifted this from the Blaze article:   Remember this, no government can govern without the consent of the governed... I see this as a hopeful sign that i didn't think was out there... Even in a ratty, deep blue worker's paradise like Connecticut (...whose wealth was largely built on the firearms industry...) there are folks who have a backbone and are sendin a message... A similar thing is goin on in New York state with sheriffs and chief's of police openly sayin that they will not enforce the SAFE act...   I say; good for them... 42. And no one has mentioned either one of the two things that fail more than anything else.   Disconnect and the extractor spring. Heat kills the extractor spring, that is why most manufacturers add the o-ring. That way if it becomes weak or fails the o-ring should be enough to keep the gun going. Disconnects wear or even break. I have one with the hook bent up so much it would release the hammer before the trigger has a chance to capture it. I seen another which broke off and several more that wore enough they would not capture the hammer.   An extra bolt is not bad to have because lugs do break off. The gun will still fire with missing lugs but not for long.

 43. TSA is all about making it look like there is security, rather than actual security.  And it also makes the American people used to handing over their papers and allowing their personal items to be pawed through upon demand.  Just twenty years ago, the idea of being forced to allow such infringements in order to travel was appalling to most Americans.  Before 9/11, there was no law requiring you to identify yourself in order to fly.  Most airlines tried to say there was a requirement in order to prevent reselling and gifting of tickets which caused a loss of revenue.   Prior to 1968, there were no laws preventing firearms on aircraft.  The Postal Service actually ENCOURAGED pilots to go armed to protect airmail.  There were no successful hijackings of US commercial aircraft before Congress stepped in.  After Congress passed a law requiring people to be unarmed on airliners, hijackings and killings skyrocketed.   Gee, I wonder why that happened?  Just coincidence?  I don't think so.   Any time someone demands that you go unarmed, it not for YOUR benefit.

 45. Yeah... what he said! If it weren't for those damn Yankees invading us southerners we'd have everything the same, just the way we liked it. I mean come on, who doesn't like free labor and being able to crack a whip on poor defenseless black folk. Lmao. I know not all southerners are like this... just most of them. I've heard just as many Yankee cracks as I've heard rednecks cracks. Either way I could care less. Its all humor to me. I've had people tell me for years, your not a normal yankee because your not a know it all. My reply would be "well your not a normal southerner, I see you have all your teeth". My point is Yankees and southerners have good qualities and both have bad qualities. But as humans we just love being ignorant and picking out all the bad in each other and totally ignoring the good we've done. Sorry if I've offended anyone, just a dumbass yankee here.:-P

 47.    I can't ever go just for "a couple of hours", I end up talking with the lady in the office for an hour each time i'm there and if Grady (the owner) is there then I always make a little time to chat with him as well. They are good country folks and you'd be hard pressed to find folks that are any more kind than they are.  Ruger, I talked to my friend that I helped pick out his pistol least Sunday and he said he is in for a bit of shooting this Sunday afternoon as well so i'll see ya there. My wife originally wanted to go, especially since she has her pistol back but it doesn't look like her hands are going to allow it. Her health has been really poor these last 3 months and at times has been almost bed ridden. We've had her at several doctors and specialist and none had been able to figure out whats wrong with her. I was quite scared because her symptoms pointed towards MS but I never mentioned that to her to try to keep moral from sinking any lower but we were running out of other options. She's probably only had 2 nights out of 3 months that she slept normally and the rest of the time I would wake up to her crying, moaning and even screaming while flopping all around but she would still be "asleep". Her joints at times just felt like they were dislocated and on fire and she's had little to no feeling in her hands and fingers for at least the past 2 months. Finally about 3- 3 1/2 weeks ago we got her into another specialist and he promised her that unlike the rest of the doctors she had already seen, he would not give up on her until he figured out what was wrong so he immediately started running tests. While I was in NYC he called with the results to some of the test and as it turns out she has an extremely severe vitamin D deficiency. I don't know much about medical units of measure but he said that you are suppose to have a vitamin D level of 45-50 and she just was at 5. We've got her on a super high prescription dose of vitamin D but the Dr. said it would likely be 2 months before her levels got back into a safe range where she would be able to feel somewhat normal again. It's a huge weight off of our shoulders just knowing what the problem is and that it can be resolved.  Anyways now that I have written a novel, my point was that since she doesn't have any strength or feeling in her hands, she doesn't feel safe handling a firearm. She sure is excited to get everything back undr control so that we can hit the range!

I've got a custom lite so the melody maker would be different yet familiar feeling addition. Do you all still make the SG classic? Those were cool guitars too. That and my firebird VII are the two I really regret letting go of. On that note musicman you should suggest a USA run of Firebird IIIs in the original 60's custom colors. Cardinal Red with a set if P90s? Uh yes please. PS, its all about the TV yellow for the melody maker.
