A man walks out to the street and catches a taxi just going by. He gets into the taxi, and the cabbie says, "Perfect timing. You're just like Frank." Passenger: "Who?" Cabbie: "Frank Feldman... he's a guy who did everything right all the time. Like my coming along when you needed a cab, things happened like that to Frank Feldman every single time."... Passenger: "There are always a few clouds over everybody." Cabbie: "Not Frank Feldman. He was a terrific athlete. He could have won the Grand-Slam at tennis. He could golf with the pros. He sang like an opera baritone, and danced like a Broadway star. And you should have heard him play the piano! He was an amazing guy." Passenger: "Sounds like he was somebody really special." Cabbie: "Oh heck, there's more. He had a memory like a computer. He remembered everybody's birthday. He knew all about wine, which foods to order, and which fork to eat it with. And he could fix anything---. Not like me---I change a fuse, and the whole street blacks out. But Frank Feldman, he could do everything right." Passenger: "Wow, some guy then." Cabbie: "He always knew the quickest way to go in traffic and avoid traffic jams. Not like me, I always seem to get stuck in them. But Frank, he never made mistakes, and he really knew how to treat a woman and make her feel good. He would never argue back, even if she was in the wrong; and his clothing was always immaculate, shoes highly polished too. He was the perfect man! I never knew him to make a mistake! No one could ever measure up to Frank Feldman." Passenger: "An amazing fellow. How did you meet him?" Cabbie: "Well... I never actually met Frank. He died, and I married his wife."8 points

Shelbyville Lumber is now selling guns. I didn’t have time to look, was picking up some stuff for work, but Shelbyville Lumber co is now selling guns. I noticed some AR’s and counter cases of handguns in a gun room. I can see it now. Honey, I picked up that lumber for the bathroom remodel, but it was about $1000 more than we had estimated.4 points

If I'm reasonably well dressed and out eating I've started politely asking managers at places that are currently posted if they would like to change their mind to win a customer and get added to the "posted!" app as a non-posted alternative. I've had one business owner get angry b/c someone else had apparently stickered his business without asking him and one manager that removed the gunbuster while I stood there.(and it has stayed down) I've found that if they see the app and realize how easy it is for me to find a gun friendly alternative on the handy map and dine elsewhere(across the parking lot in some cases) that all of a sudden they don't so much like being on the list of restaurants I won't patronize. I've also talked to several that won't budge but I'm always very respectful of their opinions and thank them for taking the time to speak to a potential customer.2 points

I like folders but there are just some uses where I trust a fixed blade more. I guess that comes from, as a teenager, having one of my razor-sharp pocket knives close up on me while using it. I don't think a person is meant to see their own knuckle bone. I might not even 'carry' the longer, fixed blade on me all the time. Sometimes but not all the time. The ability to keep one or two in my vehicles at all times without worrying about legal trouble would be nice.2 points

Honestly, I am kinda 'meh' about autos being legal (I think they should be legal but probably won't start carrying one.) To me, the more exciting part of the bill is the removal of length restrictions. In the past, couple of years there have been several knives that I would have liked to have considered for EDC except that they had blades longer than 4 inches. I am not even thinking of such blades for knife fighting as I have no training in such (although I would attempt to defend myself with one if given no choice.) I am thinking more of just a good knife to have on me for general purpose use. I am also not necessarily talking about something with a twelve inch blade. It is just that sometimes it seems like a blade that is around five or six inches in length would be more useful than one limited to four inches or less. I think the Green River Dadley style knife I picked up at a historical day last year would be a good EDC knife (especially as that is what many settlers used it for) but the blade is around five inches long. Here is the Dadley pictured with a Mora Companion:2 points

If you're looking to carry weight for fitness, and you're here in Nashville, I'd really recommend getting fitted for a pack as opposed to trying to order one. REI in Brentwood can do a pretty good job of this, and have plenty of packs for all body types. Yeah, it sounds like you might be looking at a youth sized pack. I don't know how your sewing skills are, but you really ought to consider sewing up some 5-10 lbs. sandbags if you're going to be carrying them on a regular basis. If you get fitted for a pack, you'll see what I mean, as you cannot be fit for a pack appropriately without adding weight to it. The weight ought to sit close to your back, and then you can add some filler material (pillows) to the outside are to keep it in place. Between pack fit and appropriate weight distribution, these are the two main areas that make a pack uncomfortable. Get it right and you'll have a good experience. Just to be clear, when you get a pack that fits you and get it loaded appropriately, the majority of the weight should be as close to your back as you can get it. This puts it more naturally in line with your body and is much better for balance. Second, those shoulder straps are just there for stability. If that pack is going to ride comfortably, the weight should be carried on your hips, distributed evenly by the hip belt. If the pack is digging into your shoulders because the hip belt is sub par or isn't doing its job, you're going to fatigue a lot more quickly. I'd definitely suggest getting fit for one professionally. Packs aren't cheap. You're a lot more likely to stick with one that actually fits you.2 points

http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ptac-16-mid-length-5-56mm-1-9-upper-without-bcg-or-charging-handle.html Yea, $189!! No, it's not fancy or anything, but if you've got a built out lower or two and some BCGs just sittin' in a drawer somewhere (like I do) then this may just be too good of a deal to pass up! I've got a built poly lower that I've been wanting to build in to a cheap, lightweight fungun. I almost bought one of the $300 PSA uppers last week but decided to wait... glad I did! I know some folks poo-poo the PTAC stuff. That's fine. I have a PTAC complete upper on my other AR and it has been GREAT! Well built and running like a top since I slapped it on a lower about 1,200 rounds ago. Unfortunately, they didn't have any cheap/basic charging handles or rear sights in stock. If anybody has one or both in good condition and uh... reasonably inexpensive :nervous: please PM me. Anywho, just thought I'd pass the deal along. I thought it may have been an April fools' joke, but I checked out and got my confirmation email! Happy shootin'!1 point

Gold is nearly useless for post-SHTF purposes. Its too valuable. Last i checked gold was around $1600 an ounce, what are you gonna buy with that? Even the 1/10th oz. gold eagles are worth $160 still a large denomination. Silver is much better in this aspect. Gold is excellent for pre-SHTF wealth preservation. I personally believe for precious metals, that Silver Eagles and pre-65 90% silver quarters and dimes are best for purchasing things post-SHTF. While precious metals are good to invest in, i believe even more valuable at least immediately after an event would be trade goods. Alcohol, tobacco, chocolate, toilet paper, canned food, bottles water, flashlights, batteries, common types of ammo, pocket knives, common durable clothes, etc. will be in high demand. I believe it would be easier to trade something immediately useful than some silver. And no one really knows how it would really play as we as a country havent experienced anything like this yet1 point

Pressure reaches max after about 2" of travel in the barrel. It is a favorite powder of cast bullet shooter for the 'soft push' that the powder has. If you check powder burn charts, you will see that AA4064 is slightly slower than IMR 4064. Both are optimum powders for accurate loads in 30-30, 308, and 30-06. This is not news. Its just that it takes some big old nads to say the truth, which can be summed up in 2 statements: - poor areas have a lot of crime and violence. This includes inner city ghettos and suburban trashy areas and even rual trailer parks. The nature of cities being a large population, the # of shots fired will, therefore, be highest in the city ghettos, even if the %s are similar with rual poor areas. - poor people in these areas are often hooked on government "aid" and therefore vote democrat. Problem is that saying the above gets the idiots to go haywire trying to censor the person saying it with cries of "racism" or "victim blame" or other nonsense. There is no need for a study and if they do one, the results will be as expected. Human nature is quite predictable: humans are generally a sorry lot of mean SOBs that are prone to violence..... this surprises no one. Take a group of humans with nothing to lose, and much to gain, what you think is gonna happen? Hats off to captain obvious and his well written piece -- I wish him the best as he bucks the censorship machine!1 point

And the worst the economy gets; the more Cops, Firemen, and Doctors will be needed. With those of us that still have jobs or own property paying the bills.1 point

Why is that a red flag? Lots of people don't save the factory stuff, or they lose it, or they buy guns used without it. If you ask to see his TN state ID and sign a bill of sale and he declines, or if you have some other reason to believe he is shady then by all means decline the deal, otherwise you should be good to go. But if you insist on running a check you can call your local PD and ask if they will run it for you. Or you can go to any ffl dealer and ask them to do a TICS transfer for you which includes a check for stolen.1 point

I guess I am lucky. None of that has ever bothered me. Line up the sights, focus up front and fire. Shots go on target. I actually prefer to practice point shooting. That and aiming without sights. I might not his the bulleye, but i hit center mass at a reasonable distance.1 point
