  2. We have been slowly redesigning and fixing up our office. One of the things we have always wanted was a play room. We demand a lot from our employees so we like to have as many perks for them as we can. With the new redesign of the office we now have a dedicated play room. We have always had a ping pong table. It now has a permanent home. The play room is where we also have our company lunches. It now has a nice tv, ping pong table and our new Predators Pool Table. More expensive usually compared to their semi-automatic brethren, and far less rounds-in-ready -- but much more beautiful IMHO. [/quote] Revolvers have a soul. Plastic semi's are just tools... :)

  12. mosin-nagant: The Mosin-nagant is an old school bolt action rifle from Russia. Originally designed by a drunk Russian engineer and an even more drunk Belgian gunsmith, who drew up blueprints on napkins in the back of a pub somewhere in Siberia in a vodka-induced stupor. The Mosin-nagant fires the 7.62x54r cartridge, which can kill a polar bear at a thousand yards and keep going right through the tree he was standing in front of. The Mosin-nagant was used by the Russians in both world wars, so it's killed more Germans than collisions on the autobahn and under-cooked sauerkraut combined. Surplus Mosins can be found at gunshops in the States for like a hundred bucks on sale, and ammo is cheap surplus, so this is what real men shoot who don't want to drop $1299.99 on an AR-15 which fires a .22 round and that's made out of recycled milk jugs and Legos. Many of them come with a bayonet that's roughly the size of the sword William Wallace used in Braveheart. In the absence of gun oil, you can clean a Mosin by Urine down the barrel and wiping the bolt off with a dirty rag that you found on the floor in a Grease Monkey. Try that with a rifle that was designed less than 50 years ago. Joe: " I need a rifle that is ten feet long and fires anti-tank rounds, but Ive only got 200 dollars!" Ivan: "Amerikan comrade, you need mosin-nagant . Spend 100 on the rifle, fifty on case of ammo, use rest for vodka!" In Soviet Russia, rifle fire you!!!

  13. Buyer Beware, Pringles Bacon flavored chips taste absolutely nothing like bacon... Do not even try them out of curiosity as it may taint your primal urges to try other bacon flavored foods in the future.   Also that weird taste continues to linger hours later when you burp and just want to forget you ever heard of these things.

  14. I'm just glad someone shut him down before he ended up killing someone. i never let the buyer pick the place for the transaction. it takes place on my turf and I am always aware of the surroundings. I also watch the way the buyer is acting and I am always ready to react with my carry weapon and on many if not most of the times I have done deals I have a friend that is also armed go with me. Any time large sums of money or firearms sales are taking place everyone needs to stay crisp...............jmho

  22. Just wondering, why are some Smith & Wesson revolver models so incredibly hard to find -- like the 640 and 686 plus, for example?  Is it a simple matter of supply and demand?  I would think, though, that today the demand would be for semi-automatics, not revolvers.  The Smith revolvers that seem to be in popular demand are the Airweights, and there seems to be plenty of them around.  So is it just that S&W isn't producing very many of the other models anymore?  I'm new to firearms, love revolvers, and am just trying to figure out why it's so hard if not downright *impossible* to locate some specific models, even though they're still listed as being in production.

  23. It's made from 1084 carbon steel 5/32" thick. Total length is just over 10" with a blade length of about 5 1/2". It's a big knife with indigo blue dymondwood for scales and stainless steel pins and lanyard hole. The spine has file work from the handle to about 1 1/2" from the point. As you can see it is a drop point design. I acid etched this blade except for the edge which I protected and also gave it a bit of a design. This knife turned out terrific...it's one of my favorites. The handle is made for a big hand. It's thick but nicely contoured to fit the hand. I'll be making more of this blade design in the future. It's of good size and the shape lends itself to many different design opportunities.

  24. In another thread on this subforum, TGO member netmindr mentioned seeing fifty round boxes of .22LR at his local Walmart.  Part of his post that really got me thinking read:     You know, maybe that would be part of a potential solution - or at least an improvement - to the current situation.  From what I have seen, Walmart doesn't limit purchases based on number of rounds - they limit based on number of boxes.  I have seen other retailers do the same.  So, based on a three box per person limit and using the 550 round bulk packs as an example, the same 1650 rounds that one guy (possibly a reseller, possibly not) could get in a visit would allow eleven people to buy three fifty-round boxes each.  Even if bulk packs were limited to 1 per person while 50 round boxes were limited to three per person then packaging the ammo in fifty round boxes instead of bulk packs would allow three people to purchase 150 rounds each (with some left over from the bulk pack to package with the 'left-overs' from other packs to make even more fifty round boxes.)  To be clear, I am not talking about retailers breaking down bulk packs.  I am talking about ammo manufacturers packaging the ammo in fifty round boxes instead of bulk packs in the first place.   Sure the scalpers could just get their friends/family/bums off the street to come in with them and buy fifty round boxes but I have to wonder if the increased effort and likely decreased profit margin would be worth it, to them.  It just might put them out of the ammo scalping business.  Even if the price on the fifty rounders increased slightly - which could further hurt the scalpers - they would still be inexpensive enough that a guy could buy one or two a week to keep shooting until the nonsense ends.   Yeah, I like being able to go into a store and buy 550 rounds for around $20 as much as the next person.  However, realistically it has been over a year since a person could count on being able to do so.  Further, if it made a difference between ten or eleven people being able to keep shooting at a reasonable expense versus one person getting ammo (and maybe reselling it), I would support the idea of manufacturers doing away with bulk pack .22LR until things settle down.  To my mind, it would be a win for people who want to shoot .22LR on a weekly basis or even people who want to build a small reserve.  I would also think it would be a win for retailers as they would still likely be able to sell all the .22LR they could get while making a larger number of customers happy in the process.   I would also see it as a win for ammo manufacturers when it comes to long term sales.  At current ammo prices, even those of us who are very much 'in' to target shooting, plinking and the like are not doing it nearly as much and some have indicated that they have gotten out of it almost entirely.  I also have to wonder if potential new shooting enthusiasts (i.e. the ammo companies' potential, future customers) might not be deterred by the current prices of ammo and end up exploring another hobby rather than ever becoming involved in shooting as a hobby.   So, what do you guys think?

  25. We play noise wars with my cousins next door in the evenings sometimes. About a quarter mile down the road. They will pop off some 22lr. I answer back with 22. Then they go to 9 mm I go to 40 or 45. Whatever I have on usually. They break out the ar's and then I break out the mosin. Then silence. It is so much fun. 27. I am as well. I also offer to ride shotgun with any of my friends if I know they are going to a deal. Even if they are armed, a second set of eyes, more than one armed person, and also the hopes that if anyone was froggy, that they may change their mind. I feel a little less paranoid meeting anyone on here, but I don't do anything extra when going to any meet because I stay armed. Just hope I never have to say "Whew, thank God I had it". Stay safe my friends.

  28.   Yes, I always check profiles, dates of joining, post counts, topics, and just general attitudes for all of us as well.   Paranoia? Well...maybe. But just think about it. Would you like to go to a location and meet someone you don't know that is 99% likely to be armed and not at least attempt to check them out in some fashion?   I mean come on guys. This is a recipe for disaster. At least one guy armed with a loaded weapon and another with cash.   We are pretty damn lucky that more of this crap doesn't happen.

  29. Having done my share of craigslist deals I'm shocked by some people. It's almost like they want to be victims. I've had to explain to several people that I didn't want to meet at their house because it just wasn't safe for either of us. I've had nothing but positive experiences with TGO members, I use the itrader to gauge the proper level of paranoia when meeting with you guys. ;)

  32. IMO dry fire practice is as important if not more important that shooting live rounds. Everything about shooting except for the bang can be worked on in dry fire. The draw, sight picture, target transition, reloads, movement and other gun manipulations are practiced in dry fire and the results confirmed in live fire.

  33. You need to think bigger (and bluer).  The 686 is a medium sized S&W but don't forget the smaller K-frame, fixed sight models that are just about the most perfect revolver ever invented, or the big N-frames that eat .357 Magnum like candy and go on up to .44 Magnum.  ;)

  34. Apartments are tricky like that. You get lulled into thinking that because the space isn't large, there aren't a lot of places for stuff to hide. WRONG! At least I'm not the only one capable of losing a gun in about 900 square feet! Even if it is a trait I share with the next Methuselah. ;)

My wife is from the south and she says she can de-program the yankee out of me in no time. lol It is a beautiful part of the country and I can't wait to settle in.   Anyone have tips on good Gun shops, places to shoot, oh and I guess I will need recommendations for a good CCW class sometime in the next six months when my Michigan CPL becomes invalid.

  40.   I do understand we are arm chairing.  Let's break it down.   Two of officers have one man restrained in handcuffs. Victim does not appear to be resisting physically in any manner. Third officer approaches from the rear, clearly not in any danger from the already restrained and under control victim. Third officer begins to choke restrained and physically passive victim to point of becoming unconscious.   I am missing the "grey" area that needs to know the whole story leading up to the choking.  The victim was already under control and cooperating therefore the use of force continuum is done.  Even if the victim was verbally running his mouth and being a douche, where in any department in the Country is it OK to choke someone for being a pain in the ass?  Especially after he is already under control?   What could we possibly be missing that would make the choking acceptable?  I can't think of any circumstance that would justify choking a restrained person who is not out of control!?

  46. If you really want to go out to a tropical place visit the Philippines (no worries almost everyone speaks english there), plane costs are about the same as Hawaii, costs once you get there are about 10-15% of what Hawaii costs. last time we were there, he had a two story penthouse on a white sand beach, free food, 2 free massages in the room for $80/day. other time we went, we were in a suite with about a 50 foot long glass wall overlooking the ocean, jacuzzi in the middle of the room, step out the door onto the roof and you were just a few feet away from the pool... for $50/night Scuba trips, $80/person gear included. personal driver with a car $35-$40/day dinner at 4-5 star restaurants about $20/person Have no clue why anyone still visits that state as much as everything costs..No way anyone could tell this place from the "mystical" Hawaii... except our bank accounts here's how clear the water is in some of the places, that's about 30-40 feet down and you could see the fish swimming near the bottom:
