More people = more crazies = more shootings.   The simple fact is this nation is raising a generation of  dangerously demented individuals who feel no sense of responsibility, remorse or concern for others.

Who knows, maybe they were about to open fire on a crowd. Maybe if he hadn't given his life several women and children would have been killed. Certainly there are lessons to be learned, but I have a hard time classifying anything this guy did in the heat of the moment as a "mistake". I remember once in a vehicle stop seminar one of the instructors told us that discussing the real life deaths of Police Officers as examples can be tough; especially if it an Officer you knew. But it is done and we learned from it so we didn’t make the same mistakes. I think what the victim did was extraordinary. Not many people would do it or even have the ability to react fast enough under stress to do it. We don’t have to take anything away from him to learn from what happened. Like a cop, when everyone else was running from the danger; he confronted it. Those situations are micro seconds quick and he missed a perp. It’s hard not to have tunnel vision when you are engaging an armed perp; I know I have done it. When you aren’t dressed it’s a cops uniform its much worse. You have to have your head on a swivel and watch everyone. Another armed citizen could be walking in on your situation and not know if you are a good guy or a bad guy. Have a plan on how you will deal with people in the vicinity. Three innocent people lost their lives because two dirt bags were pretty sure they wouldn’t get shot. The victim that reacted and engaged the shooters is a hero; the fact that he got ambushed doesn’t change that.

I sent original photo and two photos with area/scrastch oiled to Joe Bob Outfitter's sales. They felt it was a scratch or tool mark also. They gave me credit for difference in price of a blem upper receiver vs JBO receiver. JBO is a good place to order AR parts/etc with fast delivery and fast response to product questions.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to find out at least some of these have been government sponsored in one form or another. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but in the last few years, I've seen a lot of things I wouldn't have previously believed. I put nothing past politicians trying frantically to advance an agenda, and to also get themselves out of the temporary news cycle.

There are finally too damn many of us and we're all either crazy or so heavily invested in social media that we are one insult away from a seriously dangerous melt down. Sorry I'm feeling very Malthusian this evening.

Regardless of whatever badge, uniform, title or whatever position someone holds, it does not grant them license to commit violence towards the innocent. If that innocent party chooses to use violence to defend themselves from said immoral act of aggression, so be it. It is no different than someone defending themselves against any other random person on the street intent on doing violence towards them. To be clear, I don't hate cops. I even have several officers in local LE that I consider friends. What I do hate is what they are expected to do in their job. If all they did was go after those who commit violence against others instead of initiating violence, I wouldn't have any issue with the job at all. I have a Ruger 22/45 feels like a 45 in my hand and after I did the mods, it is easy to take apart and clean and it has eaten every brand of ammo I feed it.

I can see these being a good piece to the school security puzzle, but by no means a final solution. If I were a teacher I'd want a few, as many as the kids needed to cover up with, and one extra with a hole in the middle so I could wear it like a poncho while I waited for the shit bag shooter to either pass my class or come in. As far as scaring the kids, smart teachers will use the blanket as a game to teach kids to use it. That's what they did for earthquake drills in CA anyway. Gets the kids used to the actions without raising any concerns for them. I'd bet even money BersaGuy and a few other of you old timers would recognize the earthquake drills they taught us as being almost identical to A-Bomb drills of the Cold War.

  I pray it's an isolated incident. There is some buzz suggesting that they were both anti-government and such related terms, which one could spin as Anarchism...but I don't buy that. With the exception of Anarcho-Communists/Marxists and the Punk Factions of Anarchism, there are really only a few other extreme crazies out there that support and promote violent revolution/insurrection.   To me, this reads like they are just more wannabe revolutionary types that couldn't see past their noses to the real insignifigance of their ideal; more crazies looking to substitute the Government with another Government that they prefer....just like most violent revolutionaries.   I agree with you though that we should all be eyes and ears for a few days if not weeks..

  Okay, in the interest of not writing a 'novel, I will just say that if you foresee a SHTF situation where you are running around, living off the land and what you can scavenge and only able to carry what is in your backpack - and you really think you would survive long enough doing so that you would have time to wear out a modern firearm - then that is your perspective so whatever.  Me, I'm staying near my home, sleeping in my bed and keeping all my 'stuff' close at hand.  If I have to leave then I'll pile my 'stuff' in the camping trailer and take it with me.  I have no illusions that I would survive very long trying to do the John Rambo thing and I think that most people who indulge in such fantasies are fooling themselves.

  IF you have permit, it's a fact, year old law.  Of course for many years previous to that you could already have a loaded gun in the car if you're in the act of dropping off and picking up passengers subject to other state laws about possessing loaded firearm in vehicle period.  And come July 1 that will apply to anyone, as anyone not prohibited from owning firearms may have loaded firearms in vehicle, no permit required.  Although that still won't apply to parking on school property with them, that still requires a permit.   Anyway, the law regarding permit holders being able to possess firearms in public and private parking lots, including schools is 39-17-1313, quoted below. It has actually just been amended too, to clarify "private vehicle" better and more widely, and that has already taken effect also, but has not been compiled where I can quote it as one entity yet, but will paste amendmend in below the main statute.   ------------   39-17-1313.  Transporting and storing a firearm or firearm ammunition in permit holder's privately owned motor vehicle.   (a) Notwithstanding § 39-17-1309, § 39-17-1311, or § 39-17-1359, unless expressly prohibited by federal law, the holder of a valid handgun carry permit recognized in Tennessee may transport and store a firearm or firearm ammunition in the permit holder's privately owned motor vehicle, as defined in § 55-1-103, while on or utilizing any public or private parking area if:    (1) The permit holder's vehicle is parked in a location where it is permitted to be; and    (2) The firearm or ammunition being transported or stored in the vehicle:       (A) Is kept from ordinary observation if the permit holder is in the motor vehicle; or       ( B )Is kept from ordinary observation and locked within the trunk, glove box, or interior of the person's privately owned motor vehicle or a container securely affixed to such vehicle if the permit holder is not in the vehicle. ( b ) No business entity, public or private employer, or the owner, manager, or legal possessor of the property shall be held liable in any civil action for damages, injuries or death resulting from or arising out of another's actions involving a firearm or ammunition transported or stored by the holder of a valid handgun carry permit in the permit holder's privately owned motor vehicle unless the business entity, public or private employer, or the owner, manager, or legal possessor of the property commits an offense involving the use of the stored firearm or ammunition or intentionally solicits or procures the conduct resulting in the damage, injury or death. Nor shall a business entity, public or private employer, or the owner, manager, or legal possessor of the property be responsible for the theft of a firearm or ammunition stored by the holder of a valid handgun carry permit in the permit holder's privately owned motor vehicle. (c) For purposes of this section:    (1) "Parking area" means any property provided by a business entity, public or private employer, or the owner, manager, or legal possessor of the property for the purpose of permitting its invitees, customers, clients or employees to park privately owned motor vehicles; and    (2) "Parking area" does not include the grounds or property of an owner-occupied, single-family detached residence, or a tenant-occupied single-family detached residence.   ----------------     SENATE BILL 1701 By Green AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 39, Chapter 17, Part 13, relative to motor vehicles in or on which a firearm or firearm ammunition may be transported or stored by a handgun carry permit holder. Hey no worries, sometimes its a timing thing or luck. Comparing Puleo's to Mortons Steakhouse here in town, Id still take Puleos based on that last experience.   If he gets hired by a department that gives him .40S&W ammo, they'll likely issue him a gun that shoots it as well.    If he's spending his own money, the 9mm is the better choice.

There, I fixed it for you. Just because your car goes into a shop doesn't mean it gets reported. Considering that that the truck I just bought 3 months ago went through our great East TN hailstorm in 2011 and had no reports of the repair on the truck just shows how inaccurate carfax can be. It doesn't hurt to get one, but don't expect it to be 100% accurate.

LOL - I will now remove my tin foil hat. :) Just an FYI - lots of companies pay folks to promote their products on the web, posting positive reviews and comments on forums and other sites, as a way to improve their reputation and increase their search engine rankings. The folks that do this type of work are usually not employees, and often work from remote locations (out of their homes). And in some cases they are not even paid, they may be friends or relatives of the company, or just someone with a vested interest such as a share holder or product tester. They even have computerized bots that do this type of thing. This is why it seemed terribly suspicious to me. An old thread is revived with a very generic but highly glowing review which sounded like it was fresh out of the marketing department, and the member was a brand new member that did not take the time to complete their profile or introduce themselves, and then immediately abandons ship when their first post is questioned. I have no doubt that bootsgal is a real person, just didn't think her first 2 posts were appropriate even if she had nothing but good intentions. But then I expect a bit more from TGO, since this place has always been a cut above other forums.
