TGO, if Taylor Swift is considered "hot", "desirable", or any variation thereof...we need to have a serious discussion on what those words should really mean.7 points

She's also considered 'country' music, but that ship is so far gone it's sailed, docked in another port to resupply, and sailed away again. There's nothing left of country music in Nashville other than a sold- out hall of fame and an Opry that just wants to book the latest flash in the pan 'thump and bump' outfit with a song about a truck. Country music packed it's bags and moved to Texas a long, long time ago. Don't believe me? Okay. Is Hank Williams a member of the Grand Ole Opry? Is Darius Rucker? :surrender: "They all say not guilty, but the evidence will show... Murder's been committed, down on Music Row..."5 points

All the best country right now is coming out of Texas and the Carolinas. And, I take it as a good sign for the future that there are a lot of really hard working bands in the Americana space right now. Music Row probably quit being relevant in the '90s, and they sold out long before that. I think it's interesting and really sad that all of the developers are trying to turn music row into condos right now. I get it that developers have no respect for anything they can't flip and make a buck on - the sad part to me is that the country music labels can't even find the voice to offer up a defense as to why music row should stay. I guess at the end of the day, part of the reason for that is that the music labels are really just "developers", too. They're looking for talent they can exploit, turn a fast buck on and move on to something newer and shinier.4 points

You misunderstand fashion. Taylor Swift doesn't wear whatever is fashionable. What is fashionable is whatever Taylor Swift wears.4 points

I suspect that should this case get dismissed, he's going to make a point that certain officers knew him that day, and targeted him for his past lawful actions. I'm even willing to bet should he get into discovery on a civil case with the city, he's going to find that officers knew who he was, that he had a valid FFL, and probably that he was legally selling NFA related items... Since it's already come out that certain officers were gathering 'intelligence' on him in the past. I have to disagree with DaveTN a little bit... I think the DA is trying to wait him out for a plea bargain where they drop all the charges if he agrees not to file a civil case against the city... Because frankly, I think he has a damn good case against the city right now. As for his argument about not having to show ATF paperwork to local authorities on request, he's probably got a good case on that point as well... those forms are considered tax records and there is a federal law (which impacts the state via the supremacy clause) that prohibits local governments from demanding access to tax records without a warrant signed by a judge. My hope is the city I live in and pay lots of property taxes to, will drop this dog of a case, and settle out of court with this guy as fast as possible, it's already cost the city a lot more than just admitting they made a mistake... No good comes out of pushing this case any further... the DA is going to have to start making arguments that they has PC to open a closed case because they thought it might contain a firearm... and push a theory that somehow even though he was in lawful possession of a NFA item he somehow broke state law. Either outcome would be bad for regular gun owners in TN, IMHO.3 points

Pretty much. I've accepted the fact that my taste in music is outdated, dead, etc. For better or worse, the country music business isn't making it anymore. Thank heavens there are some other ornery outdated folks though, and most of them are making good music in Texas. :)3 points

He's whining about this having a negative impact on his livelihood and finances, yet this is exactly what he set out to do. This guy thrives on the drama of making his life hard. His pathetic life is going to culminate with him pulling one of these stunts and getting shot by an armed citizen or police. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk3 points

Taylor and one of my daughters and sons went to school together. She's a nice kid. She got picked on a LOT by others because of what she was trying to accomplish. I'm not a fan; but I admire her for sticking to her guns.3 points

Real country music is only played on classic retro channels now, what the write, sing, play now is some kind of generic pop they claim is country. It is not, they need to call it by a different name.3 points

Ive had some down time with work this week so yesterday I hammered out this ol' boy. 10.5" blade, hidden tang, spalted maple handle, file guard, band sawblade end cap with copper rivet accent. This knife was built as a fighter, not a camp knife. Super light and fast in the hand, razor sharp and should hold a great edge. Steel is a 1095 Nicholson file, edge quenched then had a triple temper at 400 degrees. Ill post updated pictures when I finish it on out. The purple around the hilt is painters tapes I havent removed yet. The yellow is the the tempering colors. Itll have a sand blasted finish at the end, with tong oiled handle.2 points

I have no sympathy for an agitator asking for it, but.... If this guy has a history of anything, it has been carry weapons around and not killing people, over and over and over. If he's prooved he's a threat to anything, he's a threat to his own ambition and cause.2 points

There is a lot of things our Constitution provides for us but that does not mean we have to go around parading them to the world everyday just to draw attention to ourselves. As for me. when I am out in the public I want to be as invisible as possible and just take care of the business I have left my home to take care of and then I want to get back home and know I am in a safe place once again..............jmho2 points

So higher numbers of guns yield higher numbers of gun related deaths. I also believe the more number of vehicles will increase the number of vehicular related deaths. You can makes numbers work in your favor every time.2 points

Thanks for the update. Yes, we all have the right to parade around with long guns and tacticool attire, not sure that it means we should. By NOT parading around in such a fashion doesn't mean we will lose our right to do so. Legally purchasing so a firearm becomes your personal property, getting a HCP, communicating with elected servants and exercising your duty to vote for pro 2A representatives helps preserve our 2A rights.2 points

"It's all about public safety" BS. It is all about public control . The police tend to see all of us as criminals. I have had a real eye opener on this. I have always had a deep respect for my local police, but had a shock the other day. While shopping, I overheard make some remarks from a high ranking LEO about blacks and other minorities (I am white) that would have been more appropriate coming from a KKK clansman. He was very vitriolic and earnest. He also let it be known that anybody who did not follow his agenda was just as bad and worthy of punishment. Too much "Us and Them" mindset floating around in law enforcement right now. With the Federal Government facilitating arming them as paramilitary formations, I no longer look at them the same as I have in my 71 year life. A Police Chief, appointed not elected, has no voice in how I exercise my Constitutional rights. I am not a Liberal, but being a Conservative does not mean I believe in a police state.2 points

With mine, a .54 hawken reproduction, I remove the barrel from the stock, remove the nipple with a nipple wrench, put a pan of water on to boil. Scrub the bore with hot soapy water and a bore brush, Grab the barrel with a set of bbq tongs or similar and pour the boiling water down the bore. Set the barrel aside, (the heat from the water will dry it) and scrub the nipple with a old toothbrush and a nipple pick or fire copper wire. A little oil on a bore swab through the bore, a little dab of anti seize on the nipple threads, wipe down the barrel with a little oil on a rag, and reassemble. I always pop a cap before I load for the woods, just to clear the nipple. That's how I do it, and the thing still looks like it did 20 years ago. One thing, some times they don't shoot the same POI from a clean bore as they do from a lightly fouled one. Just something to check at the range, before you hit the woods.1 point

Taylor Swift is hot like Hillary Swank is beautiful :ugh: That being said my 10 year old like her and my family has spent some time with her and she was pleasant enough. I've heard the horror stories but she has always been good to the people I know that have met her.1 point

I have carried a bobbed hammer Model 37 Airweight as my BUG for longer than I can recall (Starting to get those senior moments). So I understand your "pain." A light J Frame requires that you get the web of the hand as high up on the backstrap as possible to manage the recoil. Its one of the reason I carry a Model 37 and not a 442 or 642. With the 37 my grip is so high that the web of my hand rolls over the top of the backstrap (thus the reason for the bobbed hammer). The higher backstrap of the 442 or 642 won't allow that and I have found those J Frames to be beyond snappy As the delightful Alicia Keyes is about to find out......1 point

I cant understand how it attaches without damaging the gun, which is not acceptable. And I can't understand why its not a thumbprint reader, instead of that silly combination. And I don't get the point, because, from their list, : Prevent accidental shootings. --- No, it does not. Most all accidental shootings, or the vast majority, happen with a gun that is ready to shoot being mishandled. Usually by the owner, or the untrained and unsupervised children of the owner, both of which are so negligent that a lock can't help because the people in question are the type that stick their hands under a running lawnmower if it does not shut off when with an idiot switch. You can't save those sorts of people from themselves, they will find a way. Curious children can't pull the trigger. --- Curious children are supervised and know not to do this from training. No one can use your gun against you. --- yes they can. If someone is assaulting you, you already unlocked it. It can now be used against you. DUH? Simple "quick-click" combination. --- is it faster than I can shoot you if I surprised you in the dark? Allows you to fire in less than 3 seconds, even in complete darkness. -- No, your best people can do this, but the average person in a panic probably needs 10-15. Mechanical operation. No keys to find or batteries to fail. -- mechanical stuff never fails, that is why I do not change the oil in my car or get the brakes serviced. Requires no modification to firearm. -- what is that ugly lump on the gun? Becomes part of the firearm and complements its function and appearance. -- which is it? This is mutex to the statement above. All in all their ad sounds like total garbage to me. Its like a solution in search of a problem. BAWC today so I sent em an email for some clarifications :)1 point

First, TICS blatantly violates the TN state constitution which only allows the legislature to regulate the wearing of firearms not the purchasing of firearms. TICS also has a much worse false positive rate than the national NICS system, they routinely deny lawful purchases and the error rate is 3 to 4 times higher than NICS, which has it's own high false positive rate... It's a money grab by the state, $10 per background check adds up, and they're unlawfully taking that money out of our pockets every time we buy a firearm from a dealer here in TN. And just keep in mind nation wide, that for every conviction for somebody trying to illegally buy a firearm, it's costing us about 25 million dollars in compliance costs with federal background check regulation. Where else can you go to work, have a 80+% false positive rate and get raises and promotions?1 point
