  1. As much as I dislike Obama, I'd still take a bullet for him. It's his position and office that matter, not the man when it comes to an assassination. Whether the assassin was from within or without, the decision of who gets to sit in the Oval Office shouldn't come from a one loony pulling a trigger. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  2. There's so many conflicting opinions, thoughts, reports, and actions regarding this that I'm starting to believe there isn't anyone that knows jack shit about it or how it is spread. But there sure does seem to be an awful lot of "experts" willing to state their expertness and prevent panic. Whatever. I'll just continue my practice of avoiding: travel, Africans, getting other peoples saliva, mucous or God forbid blood or semen on me, touching stuff, and believing the govt or media. So basically I'll just continue my everyday ocd, germaphobic, skeptical behavior.

  5. I finally got around to completing my TGO AR today. :woohoo: Upper and lower receiver were completed in the spring, then we moved, and I ran out of money. Got the barrel and hand guards in a week ago, and today was the big day. At first, it would fire one round, cycle the bolt and load a second round, but then wouldn't fire the second round. I discovered that if I put it to safe and back to fire it would fire off the next round and then not fire again. Repeating the safety of/on made the next round fire. Took it all apart and discovered that when cocking the hammer with the trigger pulled back, the disconnector wouldn't reset. I manually pulled the hammer back to cocked and pushed it forward about 100 times and it eventually loosened up. Works perfectly now. All I need now is a scope and it'll be all done.

  6. There are more starting to turn around, it just takes the correct communication. I'm currently working on a restaurant owner off belcourt who was AMAZED when I asked politely if he would take the sticker off the door. I said, "Oh it's no problem if you don't, as it's your right, I just need to update you in the database. . ." He came over to my table and checked out the posted! app and was shocked to see how few of his competitors are listed as posted. Apparently the girls that gave him the free gunbuster sticker were telling him that "all the restaurants on belcourt are doing it." It sounded like a bad 1990s PSA on peer pressure and drug use.  :stunned:

  7.   I forgot you were a seller.   It would be a good CYA to NOT recommend +P ammo for them in your situation.  I can't see the guns ever failing but people are idiots in general and odds are if you said it was OK someone would cram 50 boxes in one and break something (its harder on the guns, period, and in the best case it accelerates the speed of wear-out and chances of breaking things).   And that means you can't roll your own either.   So, um either buy some to sell if you sell ammo or mention a brand or two as I did and tell them "its out there, go figure it out for yourself".   I would answer the question of self defense.... "its an antique.  It will work, but its not your best choice; its more of a collector's item and target pistol.  If you really want it for self defense, you can use blah blah ammo in it but let me show you this RIA 9mm 1911...   ".

  8.   True, I did not say that well.   What I am trying to say is that swearing for most of these folks is a combination of a pre-programmed response (slams finger in car door) and a bad habit (constant habitual use within peer group where it is the norm).   There is no selfishness in that; its how the human mind works (stimulus response  & repetition of habitual behaviors make up a lot of how we work).   I can't find the selfishness in a bad habit -- I only see that coming into play if the person ignores other folks who ask for the swearing to stop.  In that case, it is indeed narcissism (they are not important, I do what I want); and if the person only stops for fear of punishment, that is also selfish (they should stop because it is offensive, not because their job is on the line).  Those two things I see, but the actual initial behavior, I don't see it.    It is still a serious cultural issue, not only the words used but the casual rudeness of people in general have gone too far.   And I don't see that changing in the near future.

  11. As always, innocent people are punished because of potential misuse by others. Here's an idea, how about we quit trying to tell folks how to conduct their lives and let them do what they choose as long as they don't violate others. We must end this immoral war on drugs.

  12. I was at the indoor range at Ashland City today. There's a shop there that sell new and used weapons. I picked up and handled an M1 Garand rifle. I don't remember it being that heavy while carrying one during Army basic training in '62. It was an amazingly accurate rifle at long distances.  It was really neat firing rifle grenades from the Garand at rubber tanks downrange, and the bayonet training.  Just touching this one just brought back some great memories.

  13. I'm still a new guy here, but I thought I'd share this story. I play music for a living. I was heading to a quick rehearsal over in East Nashville about 7 months back, and if you know that area then you know that the apparent danger level can differ street to street due to the transitional nature of East Nashville. While driving down the street about to reach my destination I encountered a group of about 15 young adult males seemingly engaging in a verbal altercation. I honked my horn and asked politely if they could move as they were blocking the road. I continued about 5 or 6 houses down, parked my car, grabbed my guitar and started walking on the street toward the house. All of a sudden, I hear a bunch of gun shots ring out and saw dust rise up from being hit right next to where I was standing. I jumped in the ditch and checked myself for holes. Then I left my guitar and ran into the house and dialed 911. The 911 operator answered and I told him what was going on and the location, and he told me he gets calls for the area all the time. I then asked if he'd send some police officers out. We all waited at the window for an hour and not a single police officer showed up which was incredibly frustrating. I drove back the next day to pick up my gear in the afternoon and saw a woman crying outside her house because these men shot up her house. She claimed it was her neighbor. Anyway, the first line of defense should be yourself. I don't want to rely on anybody but me to defend my life should the situation ever arise. Not to mention, when I'm off the road I am playing on Broadway at the Honky Tonks and am constantly carrying large sums of cash from gigs. Many of my friends have been robbed in parking garages. One of whom was beaten by six men. They stole $600 from him... A whole day of pay from three gigs. The doctor said the blows to his head almost killed him. Anyway, that's my story. Anybody else ever have similar experience? What made you decide? Did something happen?

  16. oh tnguy, it's already turned into a racial/slavery debate.  Anderson Cooper was interviewing some author last night and he said this:     http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/daily/2014/10/03/this_sound_bite_is_all_the_proof_you_need_that_political_correctness_is_destroying_this_country     So the Ebola issue in Liberia is our fault because of slavery.

  17. Star Model B's are a good C&R acquisition but I wouldn't want one for regular shooting or as an addition to a defensive gun battery. As for shooting +p through them, don't, and for darn sure don't recommend such to a friend or individual you sell a non +p rated handgun to.

  18. Yes and no. My understanding is that this (Zaire strain) strain is virulent in the body fluid. Example- you put body fluid of a flu patient under the scope and you see 50-70% pathogenesis. Throw this strain under there and you have closer to 100%. There is another strain that is primate to primate and is currently asymptomatic in primates (a Phillapine importer reportedly imported, on two different occasions, animals to Africa with the disease) that is airborne. Thus the fear of it mutating. There has been no proof that it will mutate to airborne but it has "evolved" steadily. I'm mobile currently. I will try and dredge up some links to this stuff when I get a chance. Maybe this will give those interested some google hits until then. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  28. I can ask around about the schools. I'm pretty sure the schools are really nice, but I'll need to double check with someone more familiar with them. Ooltewah is somewhat isolated, but it is super close to everything. It is less than ten minutes to the Hamilton place area and.maybe 20 to downtown. There are several restaurants in Ooltewah as well and they are always adding more. It is home to the slowest and worst Bojangles ever though.

  29. I disagree on the use of hollow points in mouse guns.  Me and a friend have shot hundreds of rounds in various media comparing penetration of .32 and .380.  We are of a mind that .32 FMJ will do what one wants out of a mouse gun, probably better than a JHP and probably as well as any .380.  If I was going to war or serve a federal warrant to drug dealers I would not use it as a presentation weapon.  It is the gun I always have and I can shoot it fast, close with either hand, one handed. TNWGR, are you calling my Glock ugly? I'll agree.  That has been the frame and slide I have tried everything on, and it still works. Out of the many Glocks I have owned or shot it has the best Glock trigger I have ever felt. Besides the Fulcrum trigger I forget what I have done to it.  I've been distracted for a few years by 10/22s and now reloading .22 Hornet and .357 magnums.

  30.   I looked it up and apparently they said it can also live in semen for up to 82 days even after the person has survived.  The 6-7 day thing appears to be in blood only, they said it lives for a few hours in other fluids on surfaces.   Also they say it's not airborne, but if someone sneezes on you the viola you're done for.  If that's the case they should be able to spread it by coughing and breathing if you're close... which pretty much means it's fucking airborne.

  31. My vote is Keltec 32 at 6.6oz unloaded. I inherited a bucketful of vintage 1982 made in Belgium FN ammo that someone told me was made for the Skorpion machine gun. CDNN or some other online outfit was selling this a few years ago. One of my younger gun buddies gave me his stash in a moment of weakness. In a .32 JHP are seemingly meaningless, so FMJ Fiocchi is normally the self defense load of choice among .32 acolytes. However, without any science I think the old FN FMJs (maybe Skorpion ammo?) is sigficantly hotter than Fiocchi, which I keep on hand. In the world of mouse guns, follow ups, penetration and speed is king. In .32 Keltec is king. I had the NAA Guardian, in effect a rough Seacamp, but you can't use the NAA Guardian as fast or accurately at speed as the Keltec. And in Keltec hardchrome is king. Beretta has the wonderful but chubby Tomcat. Keltec is still king of the mouseguns in .32.

  32. Y'all, it's supposed to be 40 here Saturday morning   with a high of 62 degrees! I hope after this rain tonight and tomorrow, followed by the cold air will have the deer really moving Saturday! 40 is gonna feel cold to us right now since we aren't used to it yet, and to only be in the low, low 60's for a high? Yep, I feel another 14 hour day....wait, if I'm planning on the deer moving, that means I shouldn't have to sit there all day.....I feel another 2 hour morning hunt, then field dress it, and come back out that evening and get another one LOL.

  33. My step son, who has a carry permit, was taking a walk a few blocks from the house when a car pulled up not far from him.  I guy got out and walked towards him swinging a bat and demanding his money.  Don't know the words my step son used, but when the perp seen that he had a gun he left in a hurry. Since my wife and I often take walks in the neighborhood, I ordered a gun and got my own carry permit. Better safe then sorry.

  34. “Profanity is the effort of a feeble brain to express itself forcibly.” Spencer W. Kimball   If you listen, on just about any random trip to Walmart, you can hear children using language with their parents that would have earned me a trip out back to cut a switch.  For me, it's shocking to hear an eight year use the f word when talking to his mother but I've heard it numerous times.  I must assume that the parents communication, parenting, and disciplinary skills were never properly developed.

  41. I, for one, am getting sick and tired of the government sticking their nose into medicine. Lavergne passed a stinking law requiring a prescription for Pseudoephedrine. Now an inexpensive OTC drug costs you and your insurance company a run to the doctor on top of it. Step over into Smyrna and you don't need it. Morons!!!

  44.   No it isn't, TCA code the same for "handgun, shotgun, or rifle". Unloaded, not concealed on or about the person, and no ammo in immediate vicinity.   However, under GFSZA it's illegal to have any firearm unless both unloaded and in locked case. Unless maybe it's "not a firearm", like a 1890's Mosin.   - OS
