Don't let them win. I like beards, craft beer, alt country and plaid shirts. We had it first, dammit8 points

I don't post much on here, I do read and learn a lot though. That being said I thought it might be nice to let some you guys see what you talked me through doing without even knowing. This is my first build, my first AR pistol, and my first time having to determine what is legal and what is not. This is an Anderson Arms stripped lower ($71 otd at lgs), PSA LPK and M16 BCG ($158 total), a Hardened Arms 10.5" Upper in 5.56 w/ Free float rail ($240 shipped form Gunbroker), and a cheap set of flip up irons that my local shop had on the shelf for 20 bucks, They are metal and hold very well so I like them. Then finally the SBX brace from Rockwell arms($121 shipped). That is $610 total which I think is pretty good. This is my new "truck/get me home, can be carried in my back pack range toy, and I think I am in love.........6 points

Thats an insult to homosexuals. Most of them are normal, everyday working men, some of them are feminine but some are just as roughneck and blue collar as the rest of us. Hipsters on the other hand are just a giant collective of douchebags4 points

Really nice looking heater! I echo this. More upright angled grip makes amazing different in ergonomics for a short LOP firearm. Takes all the tension off wrist/elbow/shoulder from the standard AR grip angle. Hey, so what's that buffer tube? And looks like the SBX isn't nearly all the forward on it, but I can't tell what's setting it back? - OS2 points

That's just wrong, you are assuming that everybody wants what you want in a 1911 and that's just not true. The sights on the 1991 I consider good for an entry level 1911 and that's what this is, not everyone needs or even wants a beaver tail grip safety and every Colt I've shot has had acceptable accuracy for what it is, not on par with my Les Baer or Rock River but good. This is not a collectors piece, it's a shooter. Buy it, shoot it, enjoy it and hand it down to your children. Kurt2 points

Back in 2009 may home was broken into and three pistols stolen, a Glock 34, Glock 27 and a Walther P22. Of course I had the police investigate and supplied then the serial numbers of the three pistols. I have several copies, both paper and electronic, of all the firearms with serial numbers I own. The Glock 34 was recovered in Chicago in 2010. After the convicted felon that possessed it pleaded out, the police there shipped it to Knoxville police and they returned it to me. I got a call Saturday from an officer with the Kingsport Police Department asking about the Walther P22 I reported stolen in 2009. Here is what the officer told me. They had a gun show in Kingsport recently and Craig's Firearms had a table there with my Walther on it for sale. A guy wanted to buy it and it came up as stolen when the background check was ran. This was reported to the police and they confiscated the gun. He needed to confirm my birthdate and address to complete his report. I asked him how a gun shop could have a gun without knowing it was stolen. He didn't know. He gave me the name and number of the guy in the property division to make arrangements to pick up the gun from. I'll call later today and get the details. Maybe I'll get the Glock 27 back too at some point.2 points

All of the1911 manufacturers do it just a little different and that's where all of the Ford vs Chevy comes in. You can get more options with other makers i.e. Springfield, Kimber but that doesn't make them better, just different. It all comes down to what you want in a 1911, sometimes you won't know until you own and shoot one for a while. What I do know is that no mater how many 1911's I have, I wouldn't be happy if I didn't atleast have one Colt. The 1991 is a good solid 5" 1911 with the prancing pony on the slide, Love it or hate it Colt is still the oriiginal. Kurt2 points

So many if you know I'm dedicated to the AK and have little care for AR's, but I was wanting a 308 platform and nothing in the AK world got me too excited. Came across an Aero M5 receiver set and so started assembling an AR in 308. Since its not really an AR, I could justify it. [emoji6] Anyway here it is. Ambush Tactical fluted barrel 16", Larue grip, knock off brake, Ergo F93 stock, PSA BCG. Still waiting on a proper length gas tube and the UTG rail is quite impressive. I know the UTG name doesn't instill confidence, but options are slim on the 308 and this thing is fantastic. Especially for the price.1 point

I've been wearing flannel shirts, blue jeans and work boots my whole life. No, beard, but I got a mustache. Does that count? Good Lord! After 60 years have I suddenly become cool? :eek:1 point

Want to be really rugged? Get rid of that candyass eyebrow ring and pierce it the old fashioned way that men with beards and flannel traditionally have: accidentally with a fish hook!1 point

Folks thanks for the input. Some have said exactly what I was thinking, if I am going wade in on the 1911, I must have a Colt in the stable. That is a contributing factor, but not the only factor. So I never sell/trade any of my guns that I buy even if disappointed, but never owning a 1911, and knowing a 1911 is a key staple of any serious gun collector/user of any kind. If I do fall in love with the 1911 platform, which likely I will, then there is a whole new chapter in my gun quest to have a decent and respectful gun collection. BTW, my sons who are 10, 9, 5 and 2, will someday thank ole Dad! Really!1 point

Well, I've been unable to get any pictures, camera isn't cooperating. The serial numbers match on everything except the scope, it's been electro penciled to match. It also has no date on it. The rifle is extremely nice and has a ton of markings on it that I'll have to take some time to figure the meaning behind. There are way more than I've seen on any of my other rifles.1 point

Well, I tried some Google-Fu for you, hard to do when there isn't much to go by. So, instead I did what any self respecting CSI fan would do: I searched for all KFC in the area you spoke with, interpolated the area for all security/traffic cameras, downloaded all archived footage from them, viewed all video at once for the previous few hours today until I found the truck you were looking for, here you go: But that wasn't good enough. I took the image of the truck and then ran it through an algorithm for the previous 3 months video. At this point I was able to view times that the same truck had been to that KFC. I lucked out on one of them because I was able to zoom in on a passerby's Oakley sunglasses and then mirror the image horizontally. Passed that all I had to do was run some megapixel enhancement programs and then keep typing "enhance' on the keyboard. Sir Caster, I provide you with this: That's an image of the two workers as they ate their meal. Jose and Julio Almarez. DOB 6-21-1965 and 5-30-1980. SSN: 512-11-3910 for both of them. Ok, I kid I kid. I did try YellowPages.com for all in the Nashville area. http://www.yellowpages.com/search?search_terms=landscaping&geo_location_terms=nashville&s=name The closest that I may have found would be "A.L.S. Landscaping", but I really don't think that is it. http://alslandscapetn.com/ There is also "Alternative Engery" but I don't know if that's any better. Business Information: Alternative Engery LLC is managed by Edward Withrow, Owner, and employs jobs for approximately 10 people, with yearly revenues around $1,350,000.1 point

When I try to sell something, I automatically forget the tax and TICS I paid; that's just part of my loss. Then, depending on how many rounds I put through it, I usually start at $50-75 off what I paid. I don't like to move much off that, because that's quite a discount with no tax and TICS already. That's pretty much getting close to cost on a gun. Now, on THIS board, lately it's gotten to where these "members" (choose your definition, lol) want Christmas presents. I don't know WHAT'S up with that. There have been several very fair priced items on here that haven't moved. I don't know if money's that tight, or just their pucker holes. I've managed to get better prices on Facebook.1 point

An extractor is 14 bucks. The real problem is that the bimetal (steel) jacket on the bullet significantly shortens barrel life. I have a ton of Wolf, and saved hundreds on the purchase. I won't buy any more of it, since I reload 5.56 now.1 point

Two issues # 1 (Logical): Without the background check at the time of purchase, there is a time gap between when you were issued the purchase and when you are buying the firearm. Not saying I agree with the principle, but that would be the argument. # 2 (Financial): The TBI and state coffers don't want to loose the money they get from the background checks. They will give #1 as the reason, but #2 is why it would be killed like the open carry law. Personally, I'd like to see universities that receive state funding be forced to allow HCP holders to carry on campus. I walk a mile to and from campus daily to avoid putting short mileage on my truck and avoid the parking mess at MTSU. I'm legislatively disarmed for a great portion of my day. Simply allowing those who already meet our standard for carry to exercise the right would be treating adults like adults, IMO. They are already doing it in a few other states with no issue. No reason it couldn't be done here.1 point

I spoke the company that manages that particular Burger King. They manage the BK as well as several other restaurant chains that are a much higher quality. The guy I spoke to even said that if it is remotely close to how I explained it the manager will not be there the next time you step foot in that burger king. He was very apologetic for what happened and said there is no excuse for a manager trying to taunt a customer to come inside or to call a customer stupid. He was going to have their store manager call me, it was an assistant manager who did this. The person I spoke with said they do not have audio on their phone systems when I asked them to check but he did say that there is video all over that store. He took the time we placed the order and assured me he was going to check the video. He said it will be obvious from his demeanor what happened as well as the fact there is at least one employee who will be willing to tell the truth with regards to what happened. Trust me when I say I will hold him to his word and will follow up to find out the final outcome.1 point

The braces don't look too out of place on an AR, but I'm of the mind that every time an AR buffer tube is mounted on an AK, a kitten dies. I like my AK pistol as a truck gun, but also like the idea as a HD rifle. I backed out of SBRing it because I like the category it falls into as a pistol, which allows me to have it loaded in the truck as well as take into WMAs where handguns are okay but rifles are not. I suppose this brace will solve the issue, but my AK will look like an unnatural demon spawn. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point
