  1. The CIA had an opening for an assassin. After all the background checks, interviews and testing were done, there were three finalists: two men and a woman.   For the final test, the CIA agents took one of the men to a large metal door and handed him a gun. "We must know that you will follow your instructions no matter what the circumstances. Inside the room you will find your wife sitting in a chair. Kill her." The man said, "You can't be serious. I could never shoot my wife". The agent said, "Then you are not the right man for this job. Take your wife and go home".   The second man was given the same instructions. He took the gun and went into the room. All was quiet for about five minutes. The man came out with tears in his eyes, "I tried, but I can't kill my wife”. The agent said, "You don't have what it takes, so take your wife and go home."   Finally, it was the woman's turn. She was given the same instructions to kill her husband. She took the gun and went into the room. Shots were heard one after another. They heard screaming, crashing, and banging on the walls. After a few minutes, all was quiet. The door opened slowly and there stood the woman, wiping sweat from her brow as she leaned back against the wall. "The gun was loaded with blanks," she said between breaths. "I had to kill him with the chair!!!"

  14. This is a far better investment of federal funding to local departments than giving them MRAP's or other military grade equipment for any whimsical cause.       As others have said, the expectations of privacy are different when you are a public servant.  If an officer can't meet the standards for interacting with the public, respecting their rights, ect, they don't deserve their pay.  I get that it's not easy to be a cop, and hiring good cops is getting more difficult, but standards need to be upheld across the board.  These cameras are a good way to help identify the bad ones who need to go, and make sure the good ones aren't given a bad rap.

  15. Got a trophy today! Biggest buck so far for me. We have worked really hard on our property, taking off tons of does and letting nice, but younger, bucks walk to help raise our age structure. This bruiser was 4.5 maybe 5.5 years old. The processor was shocked how big his body was, hard to tell from the pics, but he has had quite good nutrition since we took the property over. Anyways, I am super excited and getting him mounted! Made a perfect double lung shot at ~100 yards. He is a 10pt. I thought he would hit 200lbs, but he weighed in at 180. 29.       I do  (I just saw the same news story). Just wait for it to become law that to own a firearm, you have to have one of these installed on YOUR gun. After some LE beta-testing, that's the next step down the road of "reasonableness" and the tracking may not stop there.   I'm not normally a tinfoil hat guy, but the technology is already there and making these mandatory for gun owners is not that big of a stretch in some jurisdictions.

  42. Am I the only jackass curious what the hell "wardrobe reflects the current trends in the country music industry" is? You're not one of them fellers that wear the jeans with all them designs on the pockets are you? You know, like my wife wears? In all seriousness, I don't really pay attention to what people are wearing, and my wardrobe certainly doesn't "reflect anything current". I dress presentable everywhere I go, so I never have to worry about wether I'm carrying or not. I DO however, notice what and how people are carrying. I guess some folks could do worse than carrying a Hipoint, like carrying a Kimber. Seriously, I've seen Hipoints run better. I reckon the most sentimental gun I own is a Hipoint. Wife got it for me for our first Christmas we were dating because she knew I was into guns. She didn't have a clue what she had bought, only that it was a 9mm. She has since learned a great deal about firearms, and I will never sell that Hipoint

  43. Yeah, I can understand that. I remember when I was younger and lived up in PA. Gun shows up there were much, much larger and had nearly anything and everything you could ever wish for. Prices seemed good or at least fair, but then again I didn't have many local retailers and no internet dealers to compare them to. But at least the selection was huge, and they were either free or only $2 to get in, and it could take you 4-8 hours to see everything. It was always crowded and was a lot of fun just walking around seeing the sights and talking to so many gun friends.   After having assisted several FFL dealers with their businesses, and seeing what they have to go through to sell at a gun show, I can understand why most of them have higher prices and many don't even do the gun shows at all.   To start with, they have to give up at least 3 full days of their time to do a show, and this is usually on their only weekend off from their normal day jobs. Often a good part of the week prior to the show is spent gathering and packing inventory, forms, chairs, extension cords, price tags, table cloths, signs, receipts, cash for change, etc. for the show. Then they have to drive to the show and spend all day Friday setting up their tables, usually carrying everything in and out by themselves, and hoping none of it gets stolen when unattended. If they are not close to home then they have to sleep in their car or a local motel or drive far back to home and get back to the show early Saturday morning. And staff the show all day on Saturday and Sunday, and tear everything down and go back home and unpack on Sunday night and Monday. Even assisting with this process is a real pain in the a$$, so I usually showed up to help late Friday or on Saturday morning when the doors opened.  :)   Then they have to sit in those comfy metal chairs or stand on hard concrete all day, answering lots of dumb questions and watching people abuse their NIB inventory and point guns at them, and they have to eat gun show food because they are lucky to get 5 minutes free to hit the bathroom. And they have to pay at least $30-$50 per day for their tables, maybe a lot more if they take up a lot of space or they need to use electricity. And then there is gas and lodging and other meals. So when you add up all their extra effort, time, and expense it makes sense to me why they have to mark up their prices to do the shows. Heck, many of the shows that I staffed (for free just as a favor to help my friends), they were lucky just to break even let alone make any profit for all their effort and time. And even when they had a good show, if you added up their total profits, subtracted their expenses, and divided that by their total hours it often came out far below a fair or minimum wage.   When you consider all of the above, and then factor in that most smaller dealers have to pay a much higher cost to get guns than the higher-volume internet competitors, it is a miracle that they can even stay in business at all.   So all that to say that I gave up on going to a gun show to save money or score a low price deal. It occasionally does still happen, and is really a cause for celebration if so, but I am content with just seeing a large selection of guns and gun-related items at fair prices, even if fair means slightly higher than the other guys, as there is some benefit to instant gratification and I like to do my part to keep these guys in business. The only time I get irked is if I spend $8-$10 to get in and there is very little to browse, or when I see a dealer trying to gouge folks selling 22 LR at $60-$80+ per brick.

  44. To me that sounds like saying you should let the cops search your car if you have nothing to hide. Cops have a right to privacy too. Personal conversations go on, tempers sometimes flair on calls, I was a good cop and I wouldn’t want one. Yes, I have said things that would probably have gotten me in trouble had they been recorded. You get tired of fighting all sides; I can see why they have a hard time getting good cops anymore. It will be like the reason we can’t get a good President; anyone that would be good at the job doesn’t want it.

  48. I had been out 4 days, and only seen a coyote, a bunch of squirrels and chipmunks and one fat little woodchuck. I had finally decided to come out of my stand about 5 minutes before I couldn't see and there they came, by the sound of them there had to be at least 5 or six of them. I kneeled down to get one in the scope hoping it could gather more light but nope, only managed to see a tail before I lost all the light. Still, snuck away with a smile since just earlier I didn't think mother nature would share her bounty with me. Went back out again today, perfect temp, a bit breezy but not bad. I usually stay in my stand till noon before I break for a bite, today I had decided I was going down at 11, but just as I was getting ready I glimpsed a doe going down the hill into an area I could not see into. I decided to use a bleat to see if she would reappeared, took about 5 or 10 minutes till two reappeared. I put the scope on the closest one but she had her vitals behind a tree so I used the extra time to slow my breathing and waited for her to present me a shot. Seemed like forever but she finally gave me a quartering shot. I dropped her with what turned out to be a lung shot, cocked for a followup (reflex, never used one) and seen the second had gone 10 yards and stopped with the opposite quartering shot so I dropped her too with a heart shot. Both were DRT though the second flinched a couple times. I guess mother nature is generous after all. [emoji7]
