I hope everyone takes time to listen to this and get a clue to what conservatives are saying about this deal. This is by no means the liar-and-Chiefs Berlin moment which the left is spewing. I also cant believe so many 2nd Amendment supporters are thinking that this is good for America.2 points

People have been reporting mountain lions in the Southeastern states since they have been declared extinct east of the Mississippi (other than the Florida panthers in the Everglades). Not too long ago, a security guard took a cell phone picture of a mountain lion sitting on a couch, outdoors, in a trailer park, in Rossville, Georgia. If you know Rossville, you can completely understand how appropriate this is. I saw a dead one on I-16 in south Georgia around 1990, and may parents saw a dead juvenile on a different part of the same road several years later. If you ask the Georgia DNR, they basically say you couldn't have seen a mountain lion because they don't exist around here. They place panthers/mountain lions/pumas sightings as slightly more credible than Bigfoot reports, unless you say it was black, in which case they act like you reported an alien. (BTW, there is simple biological phenomena called genetic drift that could explain the presence of large black cats). Some say that the various wildlife agencies (state and federal) have a vested interest in officially keeping these cats extinct in these states. If they were officially recognized as having breeding populations, then they would have to protect them, which means lots of money they don't have and headaches they don't want (like the spotted owl). In this case, they killed it in case it were to escape. That logic might hold for a pet, but if it was a wild cat, then it had already been living in the area without a fuss. That would be like killing a bear just because it's a bear, even if it has been avoiding humans. I think that they could have waited a little longer, even in the dark, for the tranquilizer gun to show up. Surely they could keep it illuminated with lights. It really seems more like they killed it because of the potential for danger, rather than actual known danger. I think in the past when an escaped panther was found, they could tell it was a pet because the teeth were filed or it was declawed (I feel sorry for those guys also).2 points

I've had this 1980's era 686 6" no dash since my father passed in 2007. For years it rode in a cheap nylon holster for range trips. Additionally, everything I found online was for a 4" barrel. I enlisted our own gjohnsoniv on a previous holster as well and decided to use him again. This is the one he made for my G23 a while back. And this is what I received a few days ago to carry the beast of a 686 in. Gave him a two simple requests- single belt loop and thumb snap. Nailed it. Enjoy..1 point

Call your local post office and ask to speak to the delivery supervisor for your zip code. They can look up your delivery scan on the computer and find out who delivered it and what time it was delivered. Normally they will then go to that person and ask them what happened to your parcel.1 point

I did one time. the driver happened to still be in my neighborhood after I got the notification and left work to come home on lunch. No package led me to track him down. He'd "scanned all the larger packages when he got to the neighborhood" but hadn't made it to my house yet. Seemed semi logical until he repeated several times "I wasn't trying to do anything wrong, is that okay?". Of course he could have been 100% honest and trying to appease the big bearded guy who stopped his truck in the middle of the road and jumped out with irritated look on his face. Of course I wasn't mad at him, I thought someone may have stolen it. Anyway, drove off with the package and done. Hope you get your situation worked out.1 point

I was very serious about remembering your local law enforcement officers this Christmas week. After reading stories like below, I envy their courage, dedication, and their caring, but I do not envy their job based upon events like today. Just doing their job, and gunned down for nothing but wearing the uniform. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/84301-2-nypd-officers-shot-killed-in-ambush-on-cop-car/1 point

Best way to keep it free flowing is not to mess with it at all. Only exception I know of to even expect a prob with it is if you shot a ton of .22lr with adapter and switched back to .223 and had failure. - OS1 point

The P-07 and P-09 have the Omega trigger system instead of the standard 75 trigger system. I don't know how they did it, but the pull is buttery smooth, especially in SA. IMO, it's the best SA/DA trigger system out of the box. Nothing this side of a tuned up 75 trigger even comes close. I bet you'd love it. Meprolight is the company that makes tritium night sights for the CZs. There are 2 models ML17777 (#5 height, standard) and ML17775 (#4 height, low profile). Both fit all CZ 75/85 models including compacts that have standard push in front sights. I have the low profile set on my P-01 and the standard set on my PCR. Unfortunately, the P-07/P-09 guns have proprietary sights that I've only seen on the CZ-USA.com website ($90'ish). It's hard to find them in stock, but it's getting better now that they have a relationship established with Mepro.1 point

You really need to stay current on international affairs and our own domestic nuclear program if you intend to speak with any authority. ------ Russia several months ago, wrote off $32B of Cuban debt, and expanded relations. The primary Russian emissary to Cuba is also in charge of the Russian nuclear weapons and space program. BTW, Since the US all but unilaterally reduced its stockpile under treaty agreement with RF who has only minimally reduced its nuclear stockpile.... yes..... Numbers do count. ....and....since all the bad blood I have already mentioned, out-year budget analysis submitted by our NP & Congress is swinging back towards growth, not further reduction (a change in attitude on inventory). My analysis - You are not even reading or listening to the materials offered above by myself & others. You have no clue how much skin Russia has in the game (or how naïve the Valerie-Jarret run administration is, especially with Kerry at State). The Russian Federation already have an investment, It is orders of magnitude more than the US, They already have nearly 70 years of experience there, and they mean to remain the dominant outside political influence on the island. Putin, while dealing with domestic issues, is also enjoying a approval rating of nearly 3xObama. Thus, You also underestimate the level of RF nationalism (which historically runs deep even with despots in place) , the priorities they place (war capability over economics - "protect the Rodina at all costs" is still very much the heart of the matter - Russians are very used to suffering to protect their national interest - much more than US citizens). You also do not realize how much the RF fears / distrusts the US, even at the individual level (I worked for 15+ years with Russians in the nonproliferation programs). They, unlike the Obama administration - are playing for keeps. It won't be Soviet style (although the Soviets are still running a lot of it, under new name), but it won't be fair, honest, or completely rational either - they will apply what they already know about subterfuge and oppression, and are adding to that the economic lessons learned from the Chinese Communist model. So, in regards to Cuba - Don't be naïve about the grave stupidity of this particular diplomatic blunder. It is a significant domino that just got tipped. And Cuba has stated just yesterday, that they are changing NOTHING (except a 92% tax on wages from foreign owned companies). Human rights will not improve in Cuba sans entire regime change. SO - disconnect from pollyannic adhesion to Obama/Jarret fantasy, and take time to consider the relationships, political ideologies, from a Cuban/Russian perspective. It should scare you sh!tless if you do it right.1 point

If baiting didn't draw deer folks would stop doing it. I have seen a lot of pictures of deer killed over bait and yes acorns will some times slow down the deer from hitting the corn . I have no interest of being in a baiting war with any one . I also have no interest of seeing Tn get crazy prices just to deer hunt. folks complain about lic prices but with out being able to hunt somewhere cheaply the lic cost doesn't matter as much in the end. folks are asking $10+ per acre for hunting property's and are getting it. I refuse to be like other states in regard to trophy deer only. im a deer hunter and take what is legal and offered. corn fed deer is better im sure but id rather they knocked the stalk down to get it :)1 point

I think they worked out all of the bugs pretty quickly with the P-07. Several of my friends have newer ones and are all in love with their guns. I've heard nothing but great reviews on the P-09. I have a CZ Phantom, which is their first full size polymer gun, and I love that gun. It's a little bit less blocky than the P-09, but it doesn't have as good a trigger.1 point

Like many topics in this forum, this isn't exactly an NFA issue, but could be, so I'm putting it here. So the Shockwave Blade has been approved for use on a pistol, but ruling letter states "provided the Blade AR Pistol Stabilizer is used as originally designed and NOT used as a shoulder stock." http://shockwavetechnologies.com/site/?p=2114 (first page image is mislinked to second when you try to get full size, here is direct link for first page: http://shockwavetechnologies.com/site/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/IMG_1055.jpg ) There will be a court suit to decide this "usage" thing eventually. We now have conflicting ruling letters about the method of the use of a product on a firearm as separate from the mere legality of having it on the firearm. The second ruling on the SIG brace was that "improperly" using it did not change the classification of the firearm. Now we have this and the Black Aces ruling which say usage determines legality, in essence that "improper" use would change the classification of the firearm to an SBR. Never in history of ATF has it attempted to limit how a firearm is utilized, only whether the configuration is legal or not. I suspect anyone charged for illegal usage of a legally configured firearm would not be convicted. But if they were, seems would be stuck down on appeal, and that would be validated by SCOTUS if the feds took it that far. I can see no justification in the USC whatsover to support that kind of stand. There is no difference between this and shooting a stocked weapon from the hip, a handgun with two hands, or the feller who fires his 1911 with his feet, so they could say those behaviors are illegal also. - OS1 point

The money went up to pay for the hank Thompson archive bldng most likely.never thought I would see a county commissioner push to approve construction of a building named after himself at a cost of almost 10 times what anybody else would pay to have the same building constructed it makes me want to throw up.One would figure after the FBI arrested vandercook, the elected douchebags would straighten up. No such luck. The whole county commission is lame or tainted w the exception of 1 maybe 2 commissioners. Totally disgusting. Because the placement of the safety allows the shooter to inadvertently put the gun on safe when clearing a malfunction or any other time the slide is racked. Having a dead trigger when you come up off a clearance or reload can be quite the eye opening experience.... This is yet another reason most of the SOF units choose not to run the M9 when their command allows it. Beretta needs to only offer the G model and be done with the safety for good. It simply isn't needed on a DA/SA gun. The new M9A3 offers some nice upgrades and big ARMY would be crazy not to make the switch if they indeed decide to stick with the Beretta platform. Well, I am back in Franklin and for me, I think it is definitely worth the drive if you have a couple of things you want to look at in person (or even if you just want to kill a few hours on a rainy day). As has been mentioned here before, it isn't a flagship store, but it was bigger than what I expected based on my interpretation on what some called a smaller store. I think it is still about twice the size of an Academy store for comparison. I personally think the quality of Cabelas gear is just so much better than Bass Pro it really made me glad I took the drive up. What sealed the deal for me and why I really like Cabela's is not only the quality of their products, but also the customer service. I couldn't have asked for better customer service today. My primary reason for going up was to look at some new insulated hunting boots. I was looking at mostly higher end boots $200-$300 and tried on some different ones. It basically came down to one of two versions of the Meindl's that are made for Cabelas. The Perfect Hunter ($289) and the Ultralight Hunter ($209). Both are great boots and I went back and forth on them, initially deciding I liked the Perfect Hunters just a bit more. I thought one of them was recently on sale and when I asked, the associate looked them up and said in fact the Lightweights had been on sale two days ago for $157. Without me prompting him, and the reason I am writing all of this out as I think everyone can take advantage of the policy at some point, he said that they have a policy where in store they will honor a sale 7 days before it's advertised date and up to 7 days after the sale is over. That pretty well made up my mind as there wasn't $130 difference in these boots. Add on top of that they had $20 off of $150 and I had a $25 gift card, I was in my new boots for just over a hundred dollars. I couldn't beat that. I bought a few other items, one of them being a tripod shooting stick. Was marked on the rack on sale at $49. Got to the cashier and it rang up $89 (and that was actually a sale price). They honored the price without question. Even better, he hands me a rebate receipt for a $30 rebate on it. Must have been my lucky day. Anyway, even without these great deals today, I was very happy with taking the drive up.1 point

This is a good step to removing the stigma around mental health. If a person needs professional help, it will be a difficult call to make anyway. Toss in the fact that they'll potentially lose their rights for life and it means some people never get the short-term help they need.1 point

When I first started reading this I though this was really bad judgment until I saw this was something in his past from almost 30 years ago. Based on that it's a good ruling. If you are not currently a mental risk and there is no indication you will become one then there is no reason to prevent you from owning a gun. I'm sure the media will jump on this and only report the first part of this story and forget to include the background.1 point
-
This is NOT hard to understand. It's like a CZ. You can either decock it, and carry it DA/SA, or leave it hammer back like a 1911 with the safety engaged, and it's SA.1 point

274 AD, winter solstice fell on December 25, an important time for the pagans, and pagan Emperor Aurelian proclaimed the date official "birth of the sun" festival day. Then in 320 a Pope also decided the date was when Christ was born. Then in 325 Emperor Constantine made Dec. 25 official state holiday of Christ's birth, thus giving both the pagans and the Christians the same special festival date, was less disruptive of the workaday biz of the empire to have everyone goofing off on same day. :) - OS1 point

While the situation described by the OP does sound a bit suspect, there are some of us that use deer corn for purposes other than illegal baiting. We routinely have turkey and deer walk through our backyard and I like to put corn out in a couple spots so they slow down long enough for my family and I to enjoy watching them for a bit.....or until my 3 year old starts banging on the window yelling "urkey!" I have been able to get a turkey each season this year, but we just wait until after I've gotten one to start putting our corn out. There's only been a few deer so I haven't wanted to shoot any of them yet. As much as I like shooting and eating God's creations, sometimes it's also just nice to sit back and watch it. Two days before the Fall Turkey season started we counted 39 within a bow shot of the back porch, boy that was a sight....and a ruckus!1 point
