Merry Christmas! On behalf of myself and the Staff of moderators here at TGO, I would like to wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas. I hope that you find yourself surrounded by friends, family and loved ones this holiday season. If for any reason you are spending it alone, I hope that you are doing so by your own choice and that you find comfort and restoration in the peace and solitude that it brings. If you are alone this season against your will, please seek out others to spend the day with even if it is by donating your time to serve the less fortunate through a local church or civic organization. And above all, please be sure to keep the reason for this season in your hearts. Rarely will you see me use TGO as a pulplit to preach from, however I would be remiss if I did not remind you that Christmas is truly about Christ Jesus and God's gift of his precious Son so that you could enjoy eternal life with Him. (Luke 2:1-20) If you are traveling this week, please do be careful out there. And please be mindful of what's in your luggage if you are flying. Don't accidentally forget ammo or a firearm and end up spending the holidays somewhere you wish you weren't. ;)10 points

Actually we got the best Christmas present we could ever ask for. Her name is Madalynn and she was here a little early for Christmas but a Christmas baby none the less. We could not be happier to have a grand daughter to spoil. Definitely changes the way you view life. My only Christmas wish is for our son to come home and met her next month. He has been deployed since July, and missed the birth, but he should be home within a month.9 points

A few days ago I was thinking about all the negative things being said about police officers and I thought of a great thing I could do. I sat down and wrote both the Gallatin Police Department and Sumner County Sheriffs Departments and told them I wanted to thank them for their job of protecting and making Gallatin a nicer place to live and wished them a Merry Christmas and New years. I was not really expecting any replies but got these posted below along with the email I sent first: Subject:Thank you!! I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every Officer on the Gallatin Police Department for all they do to protect the people of Gallatin. I am aware that it is a very difficult time for all police officers and I do have the utmost respect for all of them. I hope each and every one of them and their families do have a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year and once again THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH!!! Respectfully Douglas Richards Gallatin, Resident Submitted By: Name: Doug Richards Email: drichards.sr@gmail.com Douglas, Thank you for taking the time to send this email. On behalf of the men and women of the Gallatin Police Department, your support is very much appreciated. I am very proud of this department and the service it provides to the citizens of this community. Merry Christmas! Sincerely, Don Bandy, Chief of Police over5091@bellsouth.net <over5091@bellsouth.net> Dec 21 (5 days ago) to me Douglas Thanks for taking time to send an encouraging word to our police department. Chief Bandy tries hard to keep our community safe. He is a local guy that cares deeply for this community. It is citizens like you that makes it worth serving. LEO's accept the risks that come with their job when they put on the uniform and collect their check every pay cycle. Bringing up the dangers they face doesn't change the fact that they are allowed to quit the job anytime they want if they're unable or unwilling to handle that risk. I hope for their safety on every shift, but I'm not willing to accept any violations of individual rights to mitigate the risk they assume by choice. I may never have worn a police uniform, but I've worn a uniform and faced danger from those who would want to kill me. So, excuse me if I laugh when I hear about LEO's, or their representatives who proclaim that they're in a wartime environment.4 points

Good deal. Since the Maury County Sheriffs Department patrols the area our home is located the missus and I stopped wwhile we were in town and bought a cold cut platter, cheese platter, fruit platter and coffee and doughnuts and dropped they by the department on the way home. They were at first floored and very appreciative. I'm so sick of all the police taking a bad rap from a bunch of low life scum we figured this isn't going to fix it but let them see people do appreciated it. I challenge others to do something nice for your local boys in blue.2 points

Had a good buddy of mine do a preliminary test for me. Needs refinement. I got a few really tiny splits in the mouth. Most likely due to my pisspoor roll crimping. It needs work and I may up the charge a little, but it's a beginning!!! He did say recoil was laughable, leading was nada and extraction was very easy.2 points

Those triggers should be a bit lighter. Most that were done ended up with a trigger under 4.5 pound and the majority are under 4 pounds. If the stars align correctly a 3-3.5 trigger is a possibility and if you gave your first born to the AR gods that simple trigger job results in a trigger that has zero take up, nearly zero over travel and with a pull weight under 3 pounds. I had one that was a reliable sub 2 pound trigger. I will say I bumped it up to 3 pounds because 2 pounds was just too light for a range toy that a lot of people shoot. I try to have ~3 pound trigger in all my personal ARs and as you know I ONLY use milspec triggers. There are a few other tricks to eleminate the amount of pretravel and over travel but you are getting into the territory where hammer follow is a possibility. But even adding the setscrew, tuning the hammer spring and a very slight polish on the nose of the trigger will give you an immense improvement. I will caution anyone considering doing a trigger yourself to leave the hammer alone. There is no need to mess with the engagement on the hammer and doing so often results in an unsafe gun. I HAVE been there and done that. I bet I have ruined 25 sets of FCGs over the years figuring out what works and what doesn't.1 point

I was going to remain on the sidelines since I have already had this conversation over and over on other sites and with co-workers. But I think we have brought out some issues that are good to discuss. First, this crap about not living the "black" experience so I/we don't know what they go through. BS, many blacks haven't lived the "black" experience, so what? I grew up in a neighborhood were we (Hispanics) were a large part of the population. With that came the FACT, that Hispanics committed the most crimes. We were profiled, roughed up and in the case of a few friends shot by the police. We had a particular officer that we all knew not to cross paths with, his name was Snyder and he would tune you up in a heart beat. And Hispanics have been laboring right next to the blacks throughout US history, so have the Chinese on the railroads, and even some Europeans being indentured servants and all. All that being said, not once did I ever hear anyone in those circles say they were going to target police officers. So some of us have lived the "experience" and some still do to this day. That was over 30 years ago, and most of the US police force has gotten much better. Are there a few bad apples, of course but what large group doesn't have that? If you are a law abiding citizen, 99% of the time you have nothing to worry about if confronted by the police. Even if they mistake you for a criminal, the situation will be cleared in time. In the military it is said that even if you are right, once you begin arguing with your NCOs you are now wrong! Same goes with a police officer, if you become confrontational and resist arrest, you will come out on the losing end. Does that mean I think they can do no wrong, of course not, but that does not give ANYONE the right to target them outright. The way that certain groups are being allowed to call for the killing of police officers without recrimination is sickening, and I tell you what if I ever see a policeman in trouble you bet I will lend my gun to the situation.1 point

I'm really not sure what point your trying to make. Relations between blacks and the police are at a breaking point. Many inner city blacks hate the police. This is not some theory that I have. It's evident by the protests we've been seeing for months now all over the county. I'm sorry if I misunderstood your post. Can you please clarify? When I said it IS a racial issue for blacks I meant exactly that. They feel that they are being discriminated against by the police because of their color. I really don't believe that most cops are trying to discriminate against blacks. Do you?1 point

Nice short movie. I like most methods of true hunting, but I agree that I get the most satisfaction out of Bowhunting. I just started back after a 15 year hiatus this last year. It didn't take me long to get hooked again.1 point

When I first started reading this I though this was really bad judgment until I saw this was something in his past from almost 30 years ago. Based on that it's a good ruling. If you are not currently a mental risk and there is no indication you will become one then there is no reason to prevent you from owning a gun. I'm sure the media will jump on this and only report the first part of this story and forget to include the background.1 point
