A word of caution though. Just because someone doesn't look like they are not handicapped does not mean they are not. There are people who have breathing disorders who appear as normal as anyone until they have an attack. And honestly if I am having a good day I might walk in the gas station without my crutches because I hate them. Without my crutches I look just fine, other than I walk like a pimp, but what they do not see is on my bad days I spend 22+ hours curled up in bed. And it literally can come on from a bump in the road, stepping wrong or picking up something I didn't think would hurt and then I am absolutely miserable. For me every day, and night, is a struggle and without my wife I am not sure what I would do. She does so much for me on a day to day basis that without her the life I live now would be impossible. Again, I would caution against automatically assuming someone is not disabled.7 points

I have the same pet peeve. I confronted a guy one day about it and he cussed me out as well. we both went in the store and went about our day. When I came out the cops were all around his car. I thought that they nailed that guy for parking in the handicap spot then I saw him in cuffs and he was screaming to the cops that I did it. I was not sure what was going on and one of the officers called me over. I went over and found out someone had keyed his car, I laughed and told them no but he deserved it. I asked why he was cuffed, apparently he called saying he was being attacked and when the police got there he got loud and ended up hitting an officer. When I left he had been charged with assaulting an officer, false reporting of a crime, no license, no insurance, expired tags, and got a max fine for parking in a handicap spot. I left that parking lot with a smile on my face.6 points

Welp, I am a grease guy. Lubed up the BCG, charging handle, and FCG. Ran 3 mags through the rifle with no issues. Checking some of the screws for make sure they held torque. Tried to get some kind of zero on my red dot, but was more concerned with getting on target and make sure I didnt have any malfunctions. Feels great to build my first gun and it work without any issues. Thanks again for the help. Will try to post up some photos when I get back home...5 points

Well, Santa didn't bring it, but I gave this to myself. No, didn't hit the lottery, but some stocks I have been sitting on for the better part of 10 years at a loss just recently went up and above what I paid. I got enough to pay off my mortgage. Some people tell me that is a mistake, but I see not having a mortgage payment and the ability to start investing in my future more now.4 points

I have seen an untold number of people pull in a HC spot and get out and stroll right in walking better than me and I have no HC , it pisses me to no end. I want to beat the crap out of them and set their car on fire but I would prob end up in jail....4 points

The problem with all of this boils down to stupidity. The NFA laws are stupid and people who constantly write letters to the BATFE to scratch their guilty conscience or uncertainty are stupid for doing so. If you ask the same question enough times, sooner or later you're going to get the answer you don't want.3 points

Another thing is that about 90% of placards are illegal do to the fact they are outdated. The person has a broken leg gets a limited placard. and then uses it forever. I was at turkey creek a while back and a man pulled in beside me at the movie lot. No tag or placard and i said excuse me do you know thats a $ 100.00 fine. He looked at his lady and back at me and said so who gives a F**K. and walked in the theater. Well when the movie was over he was standing by his car bitchin.....he had a ticket in his hand. Gee I wonder who called 911.......... :rofl:3 points

That's not too cool, because people like me that had to learn how to walk again, may still have trouble, it's just after being in so much pain for multiple years you can hide it a bit better. See me walking into a store and you may see a light limp, but 5 minutes later I may be pushing an empty cart just to have something to make it back to the truck.3 points

question: WHY do people KEEP sending letters to the BATF on this... seriously!!!!!!! they ruled it fine, and now we have several more attempts to clarify what was a perfectly clear letter to basically everyone, except for three or so meatheads which have so far only resulted in further confusing and narrowing the scope of the intent of the BATF original statement... keep poking the bear and it will wake up! Probably too late, but LEAVE IT THE FU*K ALONE3 points

Respect is lost on people. I'm not saying that myself being the sweet innocent Choir boy I am would do anything, but I know a.... friend who has a habit of removing valve cores from tires on vehicles without a tag or placard in HC spots. No permanent damage, but I bet its a lot more time consuming trying to figure out how to refill that flat tire than that 50' walk you saved yourself by thinking you were entitled and parking there.3 points

I know exactly were your coming about dolo. I am legally handicapped and they offered me a placard and I requested a permanent license for my Jeep Cherokee and handed the the doctors letter and got my license plate. With that said I have the same issue as you do when it comes to parking at Krogers 99 times out of 100, all the HC spaces are full. One day when my legs were no bothering me to much I actually walked through every space and looked to see if the vehicle had an HC plaque or an HC license plate on the vehicle of the 30 HC places Kroger has to vehicles has plates and all the rest had plaques hanging from mirror or just laying on the dash. I have several friends that have the plaques because they will carry their elderly parent or handicap member of family with them. I found one parked in a handicap space and watched as she approached her vehicle and she was by herself. The handicap person in her family was not with her. I asked her why she parked in that space when her mother was not with her? She began babbling some excuses and got in her car and left. Her husband called me that evening about my concern and I told him. Needless to say it was not a close friendship and it is no friendship now. It ended with him telling me to mind my own business. I thought I was considering I am legally handicapped and his wife is not. I waited till I got my chance and I saw him park in a handicapped space in his truck and put a plaque on his mirror and made my move. I called Gallatin P.D. and they sent out a motorcycle officer to see me. I told him why I called him and he said I understand your concern and we will see if he is legal. About 15 minutes later I was out of sight when he came out. The officer approached him and ask him for his ID DL. He then ask him if he was handicapped and he said no, but his mother in law is. The officer ask him if she was still in the store and he said no, she was not with him. The fine signs in Kroger Parking lots are $250.00. I sat and watched him sign his big fat ticket. I know he was looking to see if I was watching. I was not in my Jeep but I was there. I then went in along with the officer to speak with the kroger Manager as the officer told the manager that they had been receiving a few complaints so for the next few days he would be patrolling their lot and probably writing some tickets and the Manager thanked him because he knew there was issues and he wanted to do something about it. The use of the plaques by relatives that are not handicapped with out that person in the vehicle is an automatic ticket if caught. I got a chance to speak with that officer about a month later and he said he wrote 67 tickets in 5 days for the same violations and was making plans for another 5 days soon. I am not having as much trouble locating a handicap parking place there any more. Yea, I'm the guy your friends warned you about............................... :rofl:3 points

I find Lowes to be the worst at this. They must have about 20 handicapped parking places at the Athens store. Most of the time at least two thirds of them are empty. I bought a new Corvette once. I could park it at the far end of the Walmart lot at least 10 spaces from the nearest car and when I came back out there would always be a trap on each side of it. Everytime I get a new vehicle it seems like some old lady in a thousand dollar cars pulls in right next to it and tries to see how hard she can kick her door open.3 points

Let me start by saying I do not believe I am entitled to anything. I also recognize the fact there are some people way worse, as far as disabilities go, than me. So what upsets me is those people who think that space with the blue and white wheelchair sign means it is for THEIR quick trip into the store. Now unless I am having a really bad day I have my wife park in a regular spot so those worse than me can use the handicapped spot. But when I am having a bad day, when every step I can avoid matters, I need to park close or just stay in the truck if can't. And honestly I would gladly walk the extra distance if I could without having issues. At one point I would ask and EVERY time I have asked if they have a placard, as I stand there with my crutches, they act like I am the jerk and even cuss me out. Because of that I have quit even asking because the entitlement crowd apparently thinks they are entitled to the space I need from time to time. I wish there was something I could do to the jerks. I was told if I parked behind them and block them in I could get in trouble. Not to mention the person would probably loose their mind. I just wish people would understand that to some of us that extra 50' makes a difference, especially those with breathing problems. Fortunately I do not have breathing problems but some do and have to stop constantly to catch their breath. Thanks for letting me vent.2 points

TN recognizes all out of state permits held by residents of other states. If you are moving here from another state, your out of state permit is valid for six months. TN law requires a TN permit for TN residents after the 6th month of residency. Since you are already a resident, having been so for over 6 months, any out of state permit you can get is not valid in TN. Anyone who tells you anything different is wrong. The maximum penalty for carry in public without a valid permit is 11 months 29 days in jail and/or $2500 fine. Perhaps those folks you mention will bail you out of the pokey if things go south. Maybe the LEO won't notice a discrepancy if he doesn't run an ID check on you or see your TN driver's license. Best of luck. - OS2 points

Concealed carry comes with a myriad of decisions and sometimes even concessions on the part of the armed individual. Answering the call of nature while in public is certainly among them and sometimes it is an event that cannot be avoided. That said, in your case, I think I'd skip the greasy food while out in public and carrying given that you know what the result of eating that food is going to be. In the rare case that I've ever had to pinch a loaf so urgently that I couldn't make it home, and was armed, I generally kept my holstered handgun in my hand/lap while taking care of business. I've read suggestions from folks to use the coat-hook on the stall door to hang your firearm by the trigger guard (bad idea) and assume this as well as fingering the trigger while reholstering is how we end up with stories about negligent discharges in public restrooms. At least the kind of ND that doesn't involve first tapping your foot under the stall to invite the deviant sexual interest of a neighboring Senator. Try to remain in possession or tight control of the firearm. You're not truly safe on the commode as mobsters and Austin Powers will both tell you.2 points

I think the instructor gave you good advice and should be applauded for telling you to come on and take the class anyway. It might be eye-opening to you to see just what disadvantages each platform (revolver vs. semi auto) have. For what it's worth, I have found the revolver platform to have more disadvantages than advantages, but your experience might vary.2 points

Personally I wish they would make those that get caught parking without a permit stand at the space for a day to ensure anyone who parks there has a permit. I bet it would be a perpetual thing as the person watching it will likely catch enough people to last a week or two. I was looking for a picture I took of our local cops who park in the handicap spot. I can see how they think it is their spot though because it is marked by a man in blue.2 points

I'm relatively healthy; my wife is handicapped, She has a placard, and uses it when necessary. If I'm driving, most of the time I drop her at the door and park in a regular space. I've never used it for my convenience, as many others do.2 points

I have several friends that need those spaces. So it hits home, for me. I don't get into a big argument with the person that abuses the space. I just make the comment to them that " I see that your don't have a physical handicap, so it must be mental ". I get my point across.2 points

Yeah, saw this coming. The poor man's SBR has an expatriation date it seems. I feel for you guys that might be caught up in this, but when you leave yourself at the mercies of an agency like BAFTE, these are the results you get. I bet even Sig knew what their product would be used for when they put it out on the market. I've yet to see or read about one person who bought and shoots the brace as it is marketed by strapping it to the arm and securing it like it's some kind of cyborg enhancement. The day the NRA starts a no-joke legislative initiative to repeal the NFA laws, they will have my attention and I'll open my checkbook. Until then, they can take their "sky is falling, send money now to prevent Obama & Pelosi from taking your guns" talk and take a piss. There's a Republican Congress and a President who want's to have a functioning government until he leaves office. The time is perfect for some deal making and riders to be on the day to day functioning of government and appropriations bills. I think the President would cave on an issue like this as he did with the Wall Street stuff during the budget negotiations.2 points

Dolomite_supafly, you would like what my dad did once. He saw some previous neighbors (that we had a land dispute with) parked in a handicap parking space with out the required sticker. I don't know exactly how he pulled it off, but he saw an officer about to write them up a warning. He stepped over, I guess pretended to be the owner and tried to talk the officer into not writing it up, just saying things like you don't really want to write that up do you.. Anyway when it was all said and done they had a ticket and dad walked off thinking he caused it to go from warning to ticket. He still laughs about it.2 points

Like apparently many others, I watched it on YouTube. $5.99 plus tax for three of us to watch it in the comfort and privacy of my home plus you get it for 48 hours. I even stopped it twice to take the dog out. My overall opinion of the movie was probably three stars. Pretty much what you expect from the guys making this movie. I think if I had paid $30 for tickets and another $20 for popcorn and cokes, I would be giving it one star. 😄 I will also say after watching it, I have serious reservations that the North Koreans had any part in the threats against this movie. My money is this was a hoax or an inside job at Sony pictures. Just my $.02.1 point

Lots of great presents in this thread. Santa is indeed wonderfully pro-gun and generous. :-) I acquired some new firearms earlier in the year, so I'm taking it easy on Santa this year. I'm only asking for 2 gifts from the fat man, both being delivered this week... Qty = 6 brand new Glock 21 Gen 4 pistols (.45 ACP) with night sights, extra mags, and a laser-etched gold state police badge on the slide. Obtained directly from the agency with a few extras. It's good to have connections. :D And a mint condition original factory Williams High Speed pinball machine, my favorite from the golden age of pinball. http://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=1176 I'm super stoked with the gifts above, but they pale in comparison to the best gifts of all: I thank God that I was born healthy in a free pro-gun country to a loving family and raised in a Christian faith, so I learned just how lucky and blessed that I am in comparison to so many others that are ill, oppressed, defenseless, alone, without religion, or otherwise suffering in the world. The fact that God has allowed me to receive so many other gifts in addition to these core blessings is almost inexplicable, thus I plan to use every single item and resource at my disposal to share and help others as much as possible, and I view every single day as yet another gift and a new chance to make a difference with someone in some way.1 point

I have a 357 M66 from the early 1980s that works great. Sent it back for a 30 year tune up. I also have a 22 model that works good but stays stiff both in the trigger and case ejector. With life time warranty, I think one woudl be covered. Any company that make that many guns is going to have a lemon once in a while. I know of others that have had great luck with the raging bull models.1 point
