  1. Took this picture this morning as I was getting to work. Was on the phone with my wife letting her know I had got to work OK and said something about the pond being froze. She said get a picture. I only had minutes to get to my desk and clocked in, so I took 2 pictures barely paying attention and this is what came out. I believe I am going to have it framed. I couldn't have got a better picture had I tried.

  3. Folks, here's my "primitive" hunting gear for my traditional hunts. The rifle is a .75 cal (12 ga) cut down Brown Bess Musket. It patterns number 5 shot in an awesome manner. I Squirrel and Rabbit hunt with it. I only Squirrel hunt in my Native kit. Plus I'm a Native Reenactor and I love it!!!! Dave

  5. For what it's worth, when I make code changes to the site, I test the ever loving shit out of them across platforms and devices. Windows with Firefox Windows with Chrome Windows with MSIE (bleh) Mac with Firefox Mac with Chrome Mac with Safari (bleh) iPhone Android Tablet   What I don't do is turn my monitors on their head.  That practice will most certainly not change.

  9. Last year LWRC debuted their PDW at SHOT. I ordered one pretty quickly and have been waiting on them and the ATF. I wanted to do something cool with it since I had seen Modern Outfitters do some really cool stuff. The form 3 cleared today and they finished the coating process. Hope you like .....

  10. Congrats on your success and recent acquisitions. I've worked on literally thousands of guns, and find that almost anything can be made to function reliably given enough effort and attention. Many times its just a proper cleaning and lube, sometimes different ammo or a repair. But I wouldn't classify a Sig 1911 or PK380 as problematic, those guns run all day long. Try your luck with a Jennings, Lorcin, Bryco, or some of the really old junk guns and see how well you can do. They are still doable but more of a challenge, especially after some idiot has been at them with a dremel or worse.

  12. Spoke with three different Sheriffs about this bill today, they say it is DOA as far as they are concerned.  These are three that have their heads on straight too, Sheriff's Association is out against it.  Main concern is Billy Bob would think he is off duty LE... That carries a lot of weight in LP.  Legislators might get caught drinking and driving with a gun in their car, they (legislators) will do as the Association wishes.

  13. I'm gonna load the powder and primers tomarrow in some brass and do some test firing :ugh: . Mainly hoping for good functioning/cycling right now. I'll worry about accuracy later on. I think I'm gonna test them in my Ruger P94 since it's built like a tank. I'll load them lightly and at the minumum load as I can . Like I mentioned , I'm all new to this so I'm taking baby steps.

Just a reminder to the Genny users please make sure your connection to the main powerline id disconnected so the electricity can't back feed, as a former Line clearance tree trimmer, and the father of a Supervisor at Wolf Tree I thank you.  We had a lot of problem with this working an Ice Storm in Arkansas back in 2001 I had a couple of my guys put in the hospital due to a genny back feed. so lets keep the guys tring to get your power back on safe :2cents:  :)

  21. Hopefully this bad weather has allowed every member of TGO to contact the appropriate representatives and organizations opposing this ban.  I have lost count of the emails sent and voicemails left.  I also have letters ready to be mailed tomorrow.     If you do not stand up and speak then you are part of the problem.  I can guarantee you the anti-gun folks are out in force and making sure their voices are heard.  With record sales of guns and ammunition over the last few years the pro-gun voice should be loud, strong and be roaring in our representatives ears.  If every gun owner will speak up that voice will be heard.  For those who are afraid to put your name in an email, to a phone call or in a letter, You have already lost.

  22. I am constantly sending emails. As you stated, I hear many rant, rave and complain but have never contacted anyone or voiced their opinion. It's sad when a very small percentage of people can create this change. Time people get off their ass and take a stand. My wife just laughs when we both send emails. She says bring on the circling helicopters at least they will know how we feel.

  23. My daughter has her own dog, my wife has her own, and I haven't really had my own "my dog" since I lost my pit bull Princess when I was a kid. She died from heartworms and it destroyed me! This little American Bulldog mix reminds me a lot of Princess minus the color scheme. I named him Roman and lemme tell ya, I LOVE him and he LOVES me! :) :) :) As you'll see, he loves to sleep right now at a tad over 5 weeks old. And he doesn't care if it's comfortable for me or not, I just have to deal with it LOL. Edit: The older he's gotten, I believe he's just a standard pit bull. Not really sure except for appearance on how to know for sure, but I am not going to get him tested, as it doesn't matter to me, I love him because he's my dog.

  24. From the bill, found here  :   SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 39-17-1351( B), is amended by adding the following language to the end of the subsection:   The holder of a valid handgun carry permit issued pursuant to this section shall have the same rights, privileges, and prohibitions regarding the carrying of firearms, as permitted by state law, of any law enforcement officer, as defined in § 39-17-1350(d), who is not engaged in the actual discharge of official duties.   SECTION 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2015, the public welfare requiring it.   --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------   Given Matheny's current positioning in the eyes of the leadership, I'd hazard a guess that this one has less chance than the proverbial snowball...but it is an interesting approach.

  28. I have a feeling that the guy in the video had little or no prior experience with guns. He was trusting the guy filming or a third party and they were more interested in "punking" him so they could laugh at him than in making sure he had a safe, positive experience. I know people like that who will lie and tell someone that a heavy thumper shotgun, etc. doesn't kick just so they can laugh at the 'victim's' reaction. I personally don't find such asshattery funny in the least. To me, that seems like a good way to turn a person who was open to learning about guns into a person who has no interest in firearms. But maybe my funny bone is just not working right.

  41. I've tried larceny ... I thought it was pretty good. It was better after it was open for a week or two. A bit sweeter. But the best part was it came with a $10 mail in rebate for a 750 mL bottle (a little tag hanging from the bottle neck). I actually got the rebate in about a months turn around from sending it in.

  43. Was out in this mess early this morning due to staying overnight with some guys from Room In The Inn last night.  At 0600 there was probably only a 1/2" or so of ice, but it was slick.  Luckily there weren't too many cars on the road, yet.  Looking forward to staying in the rest of the day.   Weather like this really means something when you're homeless. Usually when we have dinner with the guys, they're talkative.  Last night, there was nothing but concern about what the weather was going to do, and the fact that a lot of the normal places to shelter would be closed today.  Everyone was in bed early.   I find myself really thankful to be able to observe the weather through a window.  Not everyone is that fortunate.

  44. I just spoke with the American Ballistics folks. They're phone is going straight to voice mail due to a heavy call volume. Left a message and they called me right back. They do still have both loaded and component M855. Tips are .12 each/K, loaded is $400/K. The guy on the phone was nice and feels as many of us do here regarding all this BS and about those who might be buying to resell and jack up. They are in GA so shipping is reasonable and though they have a ton of orders they are still getting stuff out pretty quick.

  45. They had a good run in the late 80s/early 90s with cast members like Mike Myers, Dana Carvey, Phil Hartman, and Chris Farley. Other time spans have had a good one or two cast members plus a bunch of mediocre ones. Billy Crystal, Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, etc.

  46. money in hand---buy, buy, buy!!   But really--think "wait, wait, wait."   I've bought/sold/traded a lot of guns. The ones bought on impulse rarely stay around.   If you want it, and its a common gun like the ones you have mentioned, sit on the idea for a week. They are making G21's everyday.

  47. Mike, most barrels are machined for the shoulder to accept the old CAR handguard retainers.  While most GBs may still function with it butted up against, the best is slightly forward as you're finding.. it sounds close need to get the shells to eject around the 2-3 o-clock position .. What buffer are you using?   Usually the bleed from the pressure will create a little ring around the gas port hole... and you can start to see about where the GB's port is in relation ..   I'd try to move the block slightly forward a bit more... put a couple of rounds in the mag and be sure it's cycling.  Check your gas rings and be sure they haven't wandered around and lined up and/or broke, etc.. check your carrier key and be sure it's tight.   If everything is new I'd run up to 50 rounds through to see if anything simply loosens up.. you're welcome to come use by buffer, spring, BCG, etc... if you don't have a spare but that's the next step just start swapping out what you can.    Best of luck
