" I was advised not to wear my uniform in public when I returned from Vietnam, back in the 60's" I was told this also. When I stepped off the plane at the airport I was proudly wearing my Dress Blues and yea they had to be dry cleaned after I got home from all the spit and tomatoes and many other things I was hit with but I never once lowered my head. I served with pride and dignity and was not about to let the cowardly draft dodges take that from me................... :usa:8 points

Seriously. Do the police have the right to pack off someone's possessions without a reason to believe the were illegal? If I wake up dead tomorrow morning, I'd like my stuff to stay in place until my family decides to divvy it up amongst themselves.7 points

You're letting that liberal crap show through again BTQ96R This is a free market capitalist society. It ain't for YOU to decide who i can and cannot sell to anymore than it's up to me to decide who you can and cannot buy from. Telling anyone anything otherwise is pure liberal communist BS. If you don't like it, spend your money elsewhere. The unwritten laws that let capitalism work so well will take care of everything. Run off enough people, you go broke, out of business, the end. It's only a supporter of big government that would support the idea that ANYONE has the right to tell a business owner how to run his business....so long as he pays his taxes, buys his license and ain't peddling illegal goods.3 points

I do not believe it is part of the flag code to lower the flag at the White House because a soldier or soldiers are killed while on duty. Although Bush is no longer president, and the nightly news doesn't begin each broadcast with a "death count" anymore, you guys do realize we still have troops fighting and being killed on a regular basis in Afghanistan as well as other places? If the flag was flown at half staff each time a service member died, I expect half staff would be the normal mode of flying. Please don't think I'm discounting the soldiers' lives. I'm not. I'm just saying that if you want to criticize our president, there is more than ample material to use without knitpicky stuff like this.3 points

Our Manchurian president is fulfilling his mission beautifully. and he will not lower the WH flag... unless forced to. and those that call this weakness, you are mistaken. this is not weakness. every action of this president when examined to it's core is outright treason with bold and willful intent. even the nuance of his actions... when examined reveal the same. when studied, one will find that his actions have not once been for the strengthening of American his 6 years have been the most damaging to this country of any leader in American history.3 points

We had supper last night at The Corner Pub in MJ. We ended up parking at the other end near Papa Johns and we walked past the entry door I had to do a double take their posting was gone. So after after we ate we again went past tbe entry door one of the drivers was walking back in so I asked him why the posting was gone? He said too many people complained so they took it down. Kind of wondering if it was a corporate directive or a store based decision.2 points

http://www.wsmv.com/story/29593646/pastor-injured-in-north-nashville-shooting He's seriously wounded, but not life-threatening. He was able to defend himself and his wife. I'd bet a nickle that this would have ended differently if he wasn't armed. I'm sorry he got hit, but I still chalk this one up as a win.2 points

DoJ does not do what it does for "justice" any more. They are the "enforcers" of our government, a government that could not be more corrupt or prejudiced if it tried. I have always said that ANY shop owner should be able to refuse to sell to anyone they do not want to sell to. If the reason happens to be because of race, sex, religion or any of the other "protected" classes so be it. FFLs are probably the last ones that can actually refuse to sell and not have the feds come in to investigate. What would worry me is the other "radicals" looking for a way to martyr themselves might see this guy as the motivation.2 points

Everything this idiot does is for political reasons. I think he deliberately avoids satisfying the right-wing of this country or as he puts it, the Bible thumping gun owners who love our military. He jumps on issues that divide this country at a minutes notice and hold backs on other issues for the sole purpose to keep "US" agitated, and it's working. His last day in office cannot come too soon.2 points

Rules or policy or whatever you call it , The flag , in my opinion , should have been lowered the same day . It would have showed SUPPORT for the families of the soldiers that were killed . I don't care about policy when it comes to good ole down to earth RESPECT. The families are now hearing that it took this long , almost a week , to lower the flag and I cant imagine how they feel. It's bad enough losing your family member , and even adds more pain when the goverment that their dead family member worked for doesn't even show the simplest little respect by doing this the FIRST day it happened. And that's my $0.02 .2 points

If recruiting stations aren't ready for small arms fire and even IED's, or the powers that be refuse to acknowledge the threat, maybe this event was the kick in the complacency we needed. People are talking about it now, which is a good thing. Wouldn't be the first time in military history a successful attack makes the brass take notice and do the right thing well after NCO's and junior officers have been pointing it out.2 points

Worse than too little too late, y'all. He waited five days to order the flag to be lowered to half staff in honor of five fallen soldiers, but waited less than a day after the SCOTUS ruling on gay marriage to light up the entire White House like a rainbow. Wow. Words fail me on that one - and that's prolly a good thing.2 points

Yep. Speaker of the House of Representative Boehner ordered the U.S. Flag flying over the U.S Capitol building to fly at half staff. That was the final pressure needed to get the skinny Kenyan Shiite in Our White House to roll over and publish the order allowing the U.S. Flag across the country to fly at half staff. Too late by far. Now that we know for sure that the obammunist can be rolled, he should be rolled and rolled all the way down the hill and into the river, where perhaps he will drown.2 points

You are right as far as not lowering it for our troops overseas, or training accidents or any of the other "standard" way our troops can lose their lives. But when an incident is out of the ordinary, which this soon may be, then it is not uncommon for the flag to be lowered. If incidents like sandy hook can have it lowered, then surely an attack such as this merits it as well. I don't think this president can have even the appearance of disliking our military, and incidents like this do him no favors when he fails to act in an appropriate manner or at least come out and strongly denounce these acts.2 points

At least they didn't waste any time [emoji57] It should have been within the day. This is different than soldiers killed in action. It was an obvious terror attack on U.S. soil. No brainier for any President who has the ability to think freely.2 points

Well, I hate to get technical about this, but the places around Fort Campbell are actually wrong. As distasteful as it may seem, soldiers getting shot and killed is not justification under the current code to lower the flag to half mast. However, the President does have the authority to call for it to be lowered in times of tragedy that aren't covered in the flag code. Now, you could make a pretty good argument that this is a situation in which he should exercise that power, and rightfully so. But until he does so, flags should be kept flying high.2 points

Actually, the most respectful thing he can do is butt out. No one around here wants his false condolences or the sad islamic elephant eared poop stream that flows from his mouth. These soldiers are one step closer to resting in peace for not having him speak of it.2 points

That is some very sage advice, Gotthegoods! However, sometimes, gun fever can be like "new car fever"...and we pay too much because we feel we've just got to have it...for a passle of reasons. I have walked away at times...then there's been times I wished I had walked away later... buyer's remorse.1 point

Dolomite, people have some strange justifications for their asking price sometime. It seems that one of the hardest to negotiate on is one with "sentimental" attachments. It can be awkward when making offers... especially if the other person takes offense because it was granddad's gun, and now he's passed...or he bought it for me when I was a kid. I have a gun like that... and I'd never sell it. I think that's what the seller should do also... keep it, or sell it to a close relative.1 point

Everything is a joke nowadays. Try to be serious, get crap thrown in your face. Laugh about something, get crap thrown in your face for not taking it seriously. If this guy don't want to sell to rag heads, more power to him. It's his business. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=caiH7yAAJTs1 point

I didn't realize Haslam had called for the flag to be lowered. But if you want the flag honored properly, you should indeed wait for the order from the governor or President. Just like we get pissed when someone dishonors the flag by wearing it as a garment, stepping on it, etc. you should honor it by following the flag code and only lowering it when called to do so. This isn't about Obama. It's about respecting the flag and the code that is in place to ensure consistent handling of it.1 point

Another that I have come across is when you counter what the seller is asking they become offended that you are asking for less than they advertise. Buying and selling is about agreeing to terms. If terms are different there is no need to complete the transaction. Also, there is no need to be offended if someone values what you are selling differently than you.1 point

I'd add tax season to this category. 2015 being my first tax season on TGO, I was surprised how many members were selling guns to raise funds for their returns, or make up for the hole it left in their savings. There were some good deals around then, and I'll make sure I have my eye out come Feb-April of 2016 for a can't miss deal.1 point

People crack me up with some the prices they want for a used firearm. I see used Glocks on a daily bases priced higher than a brand new one at a LGS. The ones that really are cracking me up right now are Taurus PT111 G2s. Right now in the Knoxville area you can buy them at two different LGSs for $199 and $219. And there are several for sale on FB for $350! Do these people not check other ads? Seeing the same thing with SCCY 9MMs. A LGS is selling them for $215 and some guy wants $300 firm on his and he marked it down to that!!! People need to educate themselves about what they have and what it's really worth!1 point
