  1. What a week this has been. Started off with my POS Company getting put on a 36hr lockdown (pretty short considering) because some winner wanted to steal a pair of BROKEN pvs14s... The next day (thurs) I get a call from the wife saying they are inducing her, good thing we got taken off lockdown. Allison Brooke was born the next day at 1215p CST 4 December. 5 lbs 3 oz 18 inches and stealthier than your average F35. I was told all my life you are never a man until you make a woman, and even then not until you have a child. It has been emotional and stressful, finally got home a few hours ago. I feel at peace, which is something I never thought Id feel. Everyone who has sent me PMs or well wishes I will try to respond to them promptly. 4 days of being in the hospital has overloaded my notifications. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk

  3. So... divine providence, perhaps. We found an AKC registered Doberman breeder who had two pups from a current litter remaining. We will get to bring this little blue Doberman girl home on Christmas Eve. (Photo redacted for opsec because there are weird-ass people on the Internet)

  5. Well hard to measure whats been prevented...most attacks occur in gun free zones it seems, so what about all the ones that didn't happen in places where there were likely armed  folks?

  8. You haven't been paying attention here. It's because of those Mooslim terrorists that are so abundant here in Tennessee... :ugh:     ;)     I think it's far more likely that the long gun would be stolen from a vehicle than a scenario where I might need one. Hell, even if I did need one I find it unlikely that I'd have time to get it out of my trunk.   I'll continue carry my Glock 19 in my car and hope I don't need it. For those of you carrying an AR with a 1,000 rounds, more power to you! I hope I won't be asking you for help someday if I run dry with my Glock.

  9. I've seen several comments on this and other gun forums about carrying a long gun in the truck or car. I've thought about it, but I can't envision a scenario where I might need it.    If I can get to my car, I'm leaving whatever is the threat. For example, if I were in that party at San Bernardino and got to my car, I'm not getting a weapon and going back in.  If I am in my car, I can't get to the long gun without getting out of the car. (Not quite true for some cars, but definitely not easy to get to.)   So what are scenarios where I might need to carry a long gun?

  10. For the last few days all the news networks have been having people on that say the “good guys with guns” have never stopped a mass shooting. A mass shooting being defined as four or more people shot (I think that's what they said). I’m thinking....what a load of crap. No armed citizen has ever stopped a potential shooter anywhere? Didn’t I see not too long ago a workplace shooter shot at some exec and the exec pulled a gun and killed him? I guess if you have to wait for four deaths what they are saying may possibly be true; but at face value I can’t believe there aren’t many cases of an armed citizen stopping a shooter. We need someone on our side with the facts to produce!

  11. I had a 410 when I was younger. A 20ga pump or even better a semi isn't much more recoil than a single shot 410. A 410 is much harder to hit with even for me now and I'm better than average at hitting stuff on the wing. It has less shot flying and therefore more difficult to hit with. It certainly doesn't do much for your self esteem when you can't hit what you put the bead on. A 410 will frustrate even an experienced shotgunner who is used to throwing a larger payload. A 20 ga is the best option IMO, I was 10 when I got my 20ga.

  13. Meh, I split the diff, keep a basic 10.5" AR pistol behind the seat.. It's bout as accurate as a rifle up to 100 yards, and with ~ 2700 fps soft points in there should be plenty effective. Plus I get 20-30 quick tries. :) Only got about five bills in it, but it's plenty reliable ... sure, would hurt to lose it, but the comfort it gives me being there is worth the risk. And should circumstances ever require it, can even tote it around on my person: - OS

  17. The reason i carry a rifle in my truck is because of what i have in my house. If i come home to someone in my home it is a safe assumption they have killed my dogs and have guns, perhaps even my guns. And without a long gun I am at a disadvantage.

  19. Christie is a Democrat by every definition. I would rather chop all my fingers off than hit the vote button for him. I called that when he first broke out into the political scene and he went on to further remove gun rights after he was elected. I can only assume he would do the same on a national level.

  21. For me a lot of it is wildlife. Coyotes harrassing live stock are a major problem as are hogs destroying crops and pasture. Either one of those is good call for a long gun. Also if there is an active shooter in the area or engaging me, my goal is gonna be to use my pistol as a weapon to get me to my truck and my rifle. If I can drive away safely I will, but it's possible you may get to the car and risk being shot trying to drive away. Sent from behind the anvil

  25. I love it when a complicated situation can be explained in such simple terms! * Democrats don't understand THE DEBT CEILING * Republicans don't understand THE DEBT CEILING * Liberals don't understand THE DEBT CEILING * NO ONE understands THE DEBT CEILING SO, allow me to explain ... Let's say you come home from work and find there has been a sewer-backup in your neighborhood. Your home has sewage all the way up to your ceiling. What do you think you should do? 1. raise the ceiling, or 2. pump out the :poop: ? Your choice is coming in November 2016

  31. I truly believe a rescued dog knows you rescued it. That said, my full akc dogs from breeders have been great dogs as well. I believe dogs are a product of their environment. They emulate their owners, basically like kids. I would say go to a shelter. The dog will pick you.

  32. I decided about two months ago I needed something smaller for EDC, this is what I came up with. G43 equipped with a Streamlight TLR-6 and a gjohnsoniv custom IWB leather holster. I have been carrying this set up every day for a good month now. Only thing I have found to complain about is how small and light this setup is compared to my full size M&P 9. I find my self checking to make sure it is still there lol. Here are some pictures to look at [url="[url="http://s864.photobucket.com/user/mackdoc1102/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20151201_114429_zpsofqad4zq.jpg.html%22%5D"]http://s864.photobucket.com/user/mackdoc1102/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20151201_114429_zpsofqad4zq.jpg.html"]

  35.   Well...we won't hold that against you, buddy. lol   Seriously though, I agree. All our doggie children have been rescues of one form or another. It just breaks my heart to see a mistreated animal of any kind.   Yes, I'm one of those people. I have liked most every dog we've been blessed with than almost all of humanity.   There are a few two-legged exceptions, but they get more rare every day.

  36. WHY?  Well for me, my pistol serves one purpose, get me back to the truck alive.  If I get there fast enough, tire smoke and redline.  If not, a rifle beats a pistol in pretty much any fight.  You can argue about anything but NO pistol is as accurate or as much a fight stopper as a rifle of equal quality.  People bark about over penetration and collateral damage but I don't really see that being as much a negative as accurately placed shots are a positive.  If I am being pursued as I flee then I know life can't get much worse, may as well make a LOT of noise because I ain't no fighter.  I'm just too young to die and too old to quietly take an azz whoopin'.

  41. Although CommsNBombs is correct about not taking on the terrorists with a handgun, you still have to plan towards having to fight your way out because you may not have a choice. I have been standardizing on 9mm because the Glock 20's finger grooves don't fit my hand, but now I'm considering the .357 Sig. The very day that this shooting happened I picked up my Sig P320 in 9mm. Now I'm thinking of getting a caliber conversion kit for my existing P320c to convert it to a P320 .357 Sig. My thought is that a double tap to the chest with a couple of .357 rounds will stun enough through a vest to follow up with a shot to the head.

  42. Guys, There is a possibility Dave will let me have 2 more Damascus blades, I have already PM'd Tnhawk and offered him one, if he takes it one more may possibly be offered if Dave is good with it, so if you want it let me know $480.00 shipped And if Tnhawk declines there will be 2 more

  43. Finally recieved after those goons at the post office fumbled again The quality is very good. Well packaged, clearly printed. Nice. The guy is also good at communication AND to beat all, he sent me a check for $4 and a free sticker. Wooo, four whole dollars you say. The check says shipping over payment reimbursement. He certainly had NO obligation to do that but I think it says volumes about him. Check these out guys.

  44. I'm really not sure what that test showed us other than that, with determined effort, you can break anything.  The fact that sand and grit kept it from going into battery isn't really surprising either.  I've seen this happen with the vaunted Glock 19 and 17 in the past too.   All of the crap he did to that gun is beyond the parameters of what 99% of the people carrying them will ever expose them to.  It doesn't change my mind about my VP9 at all.

  46. A few years ago we started the family tradition of going to the movies on Christmas day. We'll probably go see Star Wars that day.   I wouldn't go to the opening of this movie, not because I'm fearful of some crazy, but I find all the costume wearing and nerdiness to be silly, and I'd just rather not be a part of that.
