Just a few weeks ago I was talking to a friend who was complain about his wage cuts due to low gas prices. He works in the oil fields. Funny, he didn't complain one bit when I could barely afford to drive to work on almost $4 a gallon gas but he was making 6 figures and had an $80k diesel dually with tons of aftermarket work. When I said something he told me to find an oilfield job and quit complaining. He got the same advice, find a different job and quit complaining. Cheap gas means more money for food, entertainment, guns, hobbies, etc which is good for the economy Sent from behind the anvil8 points

The taco place owner is one sharp cookie. This is funny. When life gives you surveillance footage of your business being ransacked, turn it into lemonade -- or tasty frijoles. A Las Vegas taco place that was burglarized a week ago transformed the robbery footage into a hilarious commercial that has many Internet users craving corn tortillas and fresh ingredients. The security footage shows three men breaking into a closed Frijoles & Frescas Grilled Tacos establishment on December 16 and sacking the restaurant. https://youtu.be/kzdv4FUHqP86 points

Here is a blade I just finished up over Christmas, CPM154 steel with Jade colored G-10 scales! The new blade shape is also out of CPM 154 and is "Bird and Trout" styled! What do you guys think about the shape?5 points

Even a Glock will fail if it fires out of battery. Most higher end handguns are designed to make firing out of battery as close to impossible as is possible. If you still have all your digits, call it a good day. It could have been much worse.4 points

If it slides grease it, if it rotates oil is the old saying. If don't mess with grease on an AR much because they get filthy and the grease just makes it messier. Rifles like M1 Garands, Carbines and M1A's pretty much need grease. On 1911's and other semi-auto pistols I like to grease the rails where the slide rests. It's amazing the malfunctions this will prevent. I bought a tube of this http://www.midwayusa.com/product/133862/tetra-gun-grease-1-oz-tube about six years ago. It's now about empty but the point is a little goes a long way.4 points

I'm with you. I'm also of the belief that if you need something bigger than a 9mm or .40SW to do the job, you shouldn't own one either. :D3 points

It's worth mentioning that there are different ways of open carrying, and it's the ones that make the open carrier look like a pompous asshat crying "look at me, I have a gun which makes me badass" that makes a lot of people get turned off to open carry. There was also the argument about how an open carrier might be the first one shot, which is speculative at best. Either way, I support the right of open carry as long as its just that, carrying openly. Carry your weapon for your own defence if needed, don't turn it into a statement.3 points

Well TGO is a bunch of enablers! I mean, I have always enjoyed bourbons and really have an appreciation for fine bourbons at that. But never with the tenacity I have now! I get that no bottle of Pappy is worth what the price demands on the secondary market, but Pappy 20 is like heaven dancing on my lips. I'd sure like to add a bottle to the library one day but I probably have a better chance of getting struck by lightening. So until then, I have tried many suggestions here. I have been able to acquire a few of the harder to find bourbons, Weller 107 and Stagg Jr. The rest of my library consists of much more accessible bourbons many of which I have not tried yet. Four Roses Single Barrel, Makers Cask Strength, Bakers, John Bowman, Elijiah Craig Small Batch, Jim Beam Single Barrel, Colonel EH Taylor Small Batch, Noah's Mill and one of my all time favorites, Lagavulin 16. On my short list are more tastings from Heaven Hill would be the Elijaih Craig 18, 23 and barrel proof. I haven't found any of those around here. I'd really like to aquire some of the super premiums at some point, Pappy, George T Stagg, and Van Winkle rye. So my fingers are crossed! Anyways, I'd like to thank everyone who contributes to this thread. It is indeed a darn fine band of brothers we have here and I appreciate the knowledge and expertise passed along.2 points

I'll be there around 11:30 and leaving around 3-4. If you want to shoot some full autos I'm bringing my m60, m249, ak74 in 5.45x39, mp5a5 and a full auto lower. I'm going to just try some new stuff out and play around. Anyone that's a member there feel free to bring your own ammo and shoot my guns. I'm feeling very generous today. can NOT be reloads. Period. Must be factory ammo. I'll have links for you to use to make your own belts. Very simple to do and doesn't take any time at all.1 point

what happens when purse stolen with gun in it? any liability there? (like say it gets used in a homicide or school shooting or home invasion??) I understand its a situational awareness thing too, but Mrs has had some things stolen from her in crowds and malls without even knowing it until later.... I have also been attempted pick pocket but my fat butt prevented the wallet from coming out and when I turned and spotted the guy he ran away... we are new to weapons but I am acting as if purse isn't even a choice..... Shhhhh1 point

Fracking is already slowed considerably throughout the US, and the Canadian oil sands operations are in even worse shape, as their productions costs are higher than the frackers. The oil boom states are going through a "bust" now, much like Texas went through in the 90's when gas/oil prices collapsed the last time ...1 point

Heck...you can do that with a Glock..you just gotta try harder! :pleased: I double charged a 45 acp...11.4 grs of Win 231 and destroyed my Glock 21. It was in the late 1990's. Bulged the barrel and slide, split the frame and blew the plastic off the trigger...and ejected my mag pretty hard. But I got my shot ! and no injuries! Yes we handloaders should call it a good day when we have all our digits..because all it takes is a moment of focused inattention to do what I did. My fault alone... Glock replaced my pistol btw...they knew it was a handload and wanted to examine the "remains". Good customer service imho.1 point

I really hope your dog shows up soon. Here's a tip for everyone. We traveled a lot in an RV with our dogs and cats. They were all microchipped, but I also printed up one of those dog tags at WalMart with my name, dog's name, city, state, and my cell phone number on it. I put it on the collar instead of the rabies tag. People who don't want to get involved won't go through the hassle of tracking down someone by a rabies tag, but they'll be a lot more likely to call a number on the dog tag. I think the next time I make one, I'll add the word REWARD! on the tag. It couldn't hurt. It really paid dividends when I let the dogs out and inside of waiting to put on their leases, they took off like a shot after a deer. The little one got lost and wound up about a mile away at stranger's house, who called me right away. Her picture is my avatar. I hope your dog shows up soon!!!1 point

I finally "finished" this thing and got it out today for 150 rounds before it started pouring rain on me. I don't have a shelter up on my shooting property, so when the rain came I just called it a day. Picture first, then some specs.1 point

Remind me to NEVER piss you off. Depending on the day and blood pressure. I'd go about an 8 and 1/2 on rings. It sort of hacks off my wife, but I don't wear a wedding band. Not because I don't want to. I just cannot stand anything on my hands and fingers. Been that way all my life. Thankfully she understands.1 point

Many years ago before concealed carry was where it is today Kentucky had a concealed weapon statue. I walked in a small store where everyone knew me with a 5 shot smith handle sticking out of my front overall pocket. So happened a State police whom I knew was standing and eating a sandwich and in between bites he said Mr. (my Name) it's against the law to carry a concealed weapon in the state of Kentucky. My reply Mr. (his name) it's not concealed if you saw it.1 point

I remember taking the hunter safety course as soon as I could after I turned 10, which I think was the minimum age. Likewise, I took the first HCP course I could get into after turning 21. Even growing up around firearms, I learned way more in the hunter safety course than I did the HCP class. I struggle with the whole idea of a license to take game. The government doesn't own the deer or fish anymore than I do, so why do I have to pay them in order to provide food for my family? Sure I can hunt for free on my own land, but I still don't like the idea of the gov requiring licenses. I get it, hunting public land, game management, etc but it bothers me nonetheless.1 point

There are over 20,000 members of TGO; all of them I assume to be gun owners. I don't know how many players there are in the NBA, but I'm sure it's considerably less. NBA players have shot more people than members of TGO. The NBA can pull their lip over their head and swallow.1 point

After the permit class, I took 4 advanced handgun training classes with Jeff at SRHEC. The last 2 times I had enough friends and co-workers join me that we were able to fill the class. I learned a lot and enjoyed it immensely.1 point
