  1. One thing this does and the main reason i'm all for having a state gun is that it makes a "statement" to the people of Tennessee and the country that Tennessee and Tennessean's are pro-2nd Amendment. Read some of the comments posted in the Nashville Scene article Oh Shoot posted, control freak liberals hate it. Passing this sends a message to them pretty much saying Tennessee is a pro-gun state, don't like it then move to California. I know there's a lot more legislation we would like to see passed but i'll keep saying it, Tennessee is far far better than many states when it comes to the 2nd. Amendment, just write your Reps to improve the laws. I bet many people complaining have never even emailed their Reps once. Personally, I think it's a proud moment to officially have a state gun and another reason I think the Barrett was a good choice is because it's one of the most controversial guns which makes the statement even stronger.   I think i'll email Ronnie Barrett and congratulate him and give him an idea for another business opportunity, M82 Tennessee State Rifle T-shirts and hats. And he owes me one of each for the idea.  :)

  7. I have researched Elmax and being a one man operation it requires some things such as carbide bits and other stuff I'm not willing to invest in. It's a fine combination of high wear and corrosion resistance but I think the cost prevents me making one and selling it to most of my customers. Finding a piece of barstock even at 5/32" thick provides a challenge in itself but I digress. I do appreciate your offer though.

  9. Nope.  The barrel is rifled.  It's a handgun chambered in .45 Colt.   Any other round that can be fired out of it is just incidental.

  10. Sorry, but this is nonsense and you sound exactly like the typical H&K "my firearm is better than yours" guy. So if 0W20 synthetic oil works just as well as your "gun oil" it's still inferior? What do I know, I don't own any of them fancy weapons. Only ones that will run on engine oil.

  13. So I recently got a new job that is day shift and has weekends off. I'm putting that time to good use by taking up martial arts again. These are from my first night back yesterday. We train taekwondo, Hapkido and judo. I'd also like to brag on my Dad. This weekend he was honored with his 7th degree belt. This is a red and white masters belt, as opposed to a black belt. He has been training and teaching for 30+ years and I can't think of a more deserving individual. Here are some pictures I just had to share Sent from behind the anvil

We also have a lady who is 90% blind and the wrong gal to mess with if your looking for an easy target. Martial arts is world wide and a good instructor can work around disabilities and use martial arts to improve their quality of life Sent from behind the anvil

  17. There's lots of stories out there about that topic. You'd think the ACLU and all the others usually screaming about separation of church and state, prayer in schools, and all the atheists would be marching in the streets and city halls with law suits in hand. I suppose separation of mosque and state don't count though.

  21. I think it leaves your spare mag dangling wildly about beneath your handgun which makes it a moving target for you to try and grasp and properly index with your weak-hand in a mag change. There's a reason why most savvy shooters keep their spare mag in exactly the same spot on their belt every time they carry, with the front of the mag facing toward the front of their body, so that they can grab it, index it, and correctly insert it into the firearm in one very quick motion relying entirely on muscle memory. It's repeatable, every time. What you created is an Ammo Piñata. Maybe you'll catch it, maybe you won't. :)

  24. Trump has no allegiance. He has already said he will run against the Republican candidate if he doesn't get the nomination. And all that will do is ensure Hillary will be the next president. She has already said gun owners are terrorists so you can imagine the hell she will bring when she becomes president. And Trump is ok with that. He has not always been a friend to conservatives. Trump is appealing to our version of the low information voters. I bet when Hillary gets elected Trump will get a cabinet seat or some sort of appointment for all the help he has given to Hillary. I still believe he is in the race to ensure she wins. Again, look at who Trump socializes with to understand where his allegiances are.

Sorry I'm just now stumbling upon this forum but I look forward to learning more about this community and how we could partner.     Perhaps we could talk about building out a TGO channel on TWRA.tv?? https://www.twra.tv/producers   Thanks! 34. I use the graco catch it mk2 at busy ranges or for uncommon brass I want to keep. The best 24.77 (delivered) I have spent in a while. The newer models have a improved rail mount. Overall a homemade look/feel but nice for the asking price. If interested I will post a pic with new mount. Obvious.... pistol needs a rail for this model. On my recommend list http://www.gracomodels.com/picatinny.html

  35.   Do you really think ATF would let Taurus sell a SBS without a tax stamp?   In short, no, it is not classified as a shotgun for a variety of niche reasons, since it is designed as a .45 pistol with a rifled bore that happens to also shoot .410, never had a buttstock, is not in a caliber over .5", etc.   - OS

  36. over the years i have used just about every gun oil/gun grease made.  i have come to the point that it is just oil/grease.  it all does the same thing.  for the past several years i use motor oil and axle grease. duty gun, carry gun, match guns they run just the same with motor oil/grease as with the gun oil/grease.  i just can not see any different except in the price payed.  but,,,,but i do use hoppie's #9 for cleaning.  nothing better for cleaning.  home made ed's red is second, but don't smell as good as #9.

  37. I received a P226 SAO Legion from my wife as a gift and after shooting it a bit I thought I'd share my thoughts... The Legion branding is nice, but to me its just something additional, and not a reason to buy the gun. Reasons to buy the gun are: The factory trigger work and parts. The SAO trigger breaks right at 3.5lb on my example. Like all SIGs made now with MIM parts there is s slight caming of the hammer when the trigger is pulled. I can't imagine what the trigger will be like after several thousand rounds. Normally I can't resist a little action work on a gun, but this one doesn't need it and I'll be leaving it alone. The Grips, For shooting the grips are fantastic. The checkering is just right. Many guns today seem to have slippery grip finishes. These are really good. Maybe a bit aggressive for carry but could be toned down with a light scuff to take the sharp points off. The down side to the grips is that the bottom edge is VERY sharp, I took a nail file and knocked the edge off. You cant see it, but you sure can feel it! There is also an opening (See Pic) at the bottom rear of the grip that will allow dirt, lint, etc to get into the action. I will probably fill this with something in the near future. The Frame changes, The beaver tail is nice, but not a deal breaker for me. I have a couple of other SIG's and never missed it. The front strap checkering, and undercut are nice, the undercut is subtle but feels good. I don;t think I'm going to rush out and do this to my P220, or P229, but it is a nice add on. The Finish. PVD finish is hard and should wear well. PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) is the same method used to apply TiN coating to machine tool bits. This finish should not wear off in normal use. It is harder to apply than the standard Nitron finish and should wear three times better. Time will tell... Sig X-Ray sights. These are really Trijicon HD sights branded as Sig. They are truly great sights and I would highly recommend them to anyone that wants that Big dot out front. In the end you could make a nearly Legion copy by adding the Checkered Hogue grips, Trijicon HD sights, and having a good trigger job done. The finish and frame work are harder to duplicate, but it also could be added to a standard SIG. In the end you would spend a bit more even without the finish. I won't call it a bargain (no SIG is) but to get the same performance out of a standard SIG would cost you a bit more. If I already owned a SIG I wouldn't trade it on a Legion version, I'd make the additions to the gun I already have. One nice feature that I didn't realize I was getting is that on an SAO SIG the slide can be racked with the safety engaged. This makes clearing the gun a bit safer than it is with a 1911, or a SIG X-5 that locks the slide when the safety is engaged. For me the biggest disappointment is the gap at the bottom of the grip. I intend to shoot this gun a lot and It would be a shame to ruin all that nice action work with dirt and grit. When I fill it I'll let you know how I did it.
