  1. Well, when you are raised by government and basically taught there is no accountability for any action, everything is given to people and the culture around you is based on nothing but crime and corruption with no consequences in most ghetto homes, there you go. An entire subculture of takers is born and they can't differentiate between taking handouts or stealing from someone with more than them, or even less.

  2. Honestly, when a family comes out after something like this and spouts things that basically say that it is okay for a person to go 'shopping' at someone else's house because that person was raised in the 'hood I do not feel a bit sorry for their loss.  "Where will he get money for clothes." etc.  Who cares?  Where the hell do these people think the homeowner got the money for the stuff he was there to steal - from a friggin' pot of gold at the end of a rainbow?  How is it that homeowner's responsibility to see that Trevon has clothes and so on?  Screw the lot of them.  Further, I don't feel a bit sorry for the dead guy, either, nor do I think his death is in any way a 'tragedy' or even a real loss.  Bottom line: thug broke into middle-aged lady's house, middle-aged lady decided not to be a victim, thug got dead and won't be breaking into any more homes.  The only sympathy I feel is for the homeowner who was dragged into this situation by the aforementioned thug.

  4. There were multiple complaints called in on this group of bikes.  Apparently, at various times they were driving at speeds far below the limit, holding up traffic, so a group of people standing in the back of a pickup truck at the head of their line could film them.  There were complaints of some members of this group of bikers driving recklessly at excessive speeds and weaving in, out and around traffic, 'popping wheelies' and so on.  At one point, the pickup truck with the folks in the back who were filming the bikers turned crossways in the road and blocked traffic so that this group of bikers could pass and the group could be filmed.  This is a public roadway, not a friggin' movie set or a closed course.  Based on those complaints, the bikers and their associates in the truck were creating hazardous traffic situations as well as being a nuisance.  In fact, it appears that the vehicle the officer had pulled over was that very pickup truck - one of the biker group's 'safety vehicles' - that was blocking traffic to film and so on..  In light of that, I think it is entirely possible that some of the bikers were intentionally 'buzzing' him.  Further, the driver of the truck was charged with driving with no license.  Now, I am not saying that what the cop did is excusable - it is not - but these bikers were no innocent bunch of lambs, either.  In fact, if the complaints called in have any truth to them then their actions sound a lot like that bunch of douche bags that dragged a father out of his SUV and beat him up a few years ago.  Anyone who has ever driven across 'the Tail of the Dragon' knows that - while many folks on two wheels are courteous and safe - some of them act like they own the public roads and that no one else has a right to be on them.  Apparently, many of the motorcyclists in this incident fall into the latter group.  As I said, that does not excuse what the cop did because if he had caused an accident by pepper spraying the bikers then that could have resulted in serious injury to the bikers as well as bystanders.   Honestly, speaking of movie sets, if this incident were to be made into a movie it sounds like a good title would be "Jerk Cop vs. Jerk Bikers: Clash of the Mega-Douches".

  8. I had a good Pit, name was "DOG", got run over across the chest and gut. Doc said might and might not make with over 1500 dollars in Vet bills. Vet did offer payments. I loved this dog, I buried him that day after the Vet put him down.   Every case is different, we can not judge.

  9. I had an American Bulldog that had 2 eye surgeries when she was less than a year old. She also had to have a steak bone from the trash removed when she was about 2. She tore her ACL when she was about 5 or 6. I didn't even begrudge the cost of any of these things, because I loved her and her loyalty and friendship was worth a thousand times more.   Fast forward o when she's 11, she had a grapefruit sized tumor and the surgery would have included removing one of her front legs at the shoulder socket for about the cost you are talking about, maybe a little more. The vet estimated at her age it'd buy her another year at best. We opted to keep her comfortable until her quality of life went downhill.   In my mind, it would have been cruel to put her through that surgery for my own selfish reasons (one more year at best with her). BUT, 5 years earlier and I'd have paid twice the price to get 5 or 6 more years with her. Just my opinion.

  11. I'm afraid it is. It doesn't matter how completely unjust the law is, you must either obey it or submit to arrest. If you resist an arrest, even for an obviously unjust law, you will be met with violence up to and including deadly force. But don't take my word for it. Ask Eric Garner. Oh wait, you can't. He was killed for not paying the government a tax on cigarettes.

  14. The important topics have already been covered and the most important one being the quality of life for your dog. It really doesn;t sound like that's in the equation of all of the recommended tests and stuff. The vet who recommended getting the test results and sitting down to talk about it sounds like they want to do right by you and your dog. Just know when to let go and say your goodbyes...

  15. It's never an easy call. I try to be pragmatic when it comes to these things. The #1 question that needs to be asked is "what is the quality of life for my animal going to be?" If money were no object tippy opt for the surgery, unfortunately that is not the case for many of us. Option #2 can the dog be kept comfortable without surgery? If this can happen then it may be a good option. To give you an idea of where I stand on animals, I despise the kind of people that get a dog and try to get rid of it because it isn't fun anymore or doesn't fit their lifestyle. That said of you have done all that you can reasonably do I wouldn't hold it against someone to have their dog put down instead of spending an amount of money on it that they can't afford. I would not put myself in financial strain over a pet, not more than I could recover from in a short amount of time anyway. I know that sounds insensitive but I really don't mean for it to. I would at least consider getting a second opinion before doing anything drastic either way.

  19. Most “move over” laws only require you to move over if you can do so safely. If that’s why he did that; he has big problems. Being fired would be the least of his worries he could be arrested. There is nothing in that video to show why he would have done what he did. I guess we will wait and see what happens.

Your life is more important to not let it go.   Heck, you're a SIX gun Master now, you've got bigger fish to fry!   Promote the sport, it's 99% nice guys and gals ... and they don't give money away in IDPA like them other sanctioned shooting sport events, so be happy and keep winning plaques.  :pleased:

  26. I have kids. I can't ever justify spending that kind of money on a pet. I had to put down two animals this year. Both were very old and sick so I had them put down rather than expensive tests to figure out something I already knew. Whatever was wrong with them was likely not going to be fixed without extensive vet bills and they would likely die of old age soon any way. I balled my eyes out for each of them but when it's time it's time. Sent from the Fortress of Solitude.

  29. She went to check here house after the alarm system alerted her. She sees the criminal coming out and I'm sure had words, this then turned in to a confrontation. I'm sure the criminal had respect for the older than him woman, but it's likely he not only threatened her but went to attack her. Some of this I read, some I assumed. I think she should sue the punks family!

  30.   And I'm not defending jerkish behavior. But, no victim, no crime. Just because the state has said it is don't make it right. Hell, the state has said that teaching someone to braid hair without four times the number of hours required to become and EMT is a crime. The state has said that massaging someone's horse for money without a veterinary license is a crime. Yea, I get that in the "legal" sense it is, but from a justice standpoint, it's a crock.

  33. She said he was a student at D. A. Dorsey Technical College.   According to family members they stated "He had a future ahead of him. Trevon had goals… he was a funny guy, very big on education, loved learning.”   So this kid had all of this going for him and so smart yet he still felt he had to break into some ones home home and steal from them. They mentioned he loved learning. Well then he should have learned you don't break into someones home and steal from hem. His learning days are over.........jmho.

  34. If this group was acting as badly as described the police should have responded with enough units to control them and pull them over and cite them appropriately. One officer can not do that particularly on a multi lane highway. I make no excuse for the bikers as while I am a motorcyclist I have respect for others on the road. If they were in the wrong then they need to face the music. Regardless of their behavior if the officer couldn't handle the stress of the situation he should have remained in the car for another 15 seconds until the bikes passed before exiting his vehicle. He chose not to and in fact came out prepared to spray. No excuse for that.   If all of this is true then we have a confluence of multiple douchebagery on camera. It would be interesting to see the dash cam/body cam footage as well, but in the end I see no excuse for the officers behavior as the "conflict" was avoidable and as I understand the use of force regs. he was outside the lines there. We don't know the whole story and maybe never will.

  40.   It's a shame when someone is shot to death, but my sadness is tempered by aggravation and maybe even anger when you read something like this.   “You have to look at it from every child’s point of view that was raised in the hood,” said Harris. “You have to understand… how he gonna get his money to have clothes to go to school? You have to look at it from his point-of-view.”

  43. Depends.   The first S&W Sports to hit the market were some of the best ARs on the market, at any price. The current ones are not the same as early ones. I would put an earlier 5R Sport above any budget Colt and would pick an early Sport over a Colt 6720 any day of the week.   The first Sport models by S&W had 5R barrels with 8 twist that had the melonite treatment which IMHO is a "premium" barrel compared to others, even Colt, on the market both then and now. The upper and lowers are both built to MILSPEC standards so they are functionally identical. Yes I know the Sport did not have a forward assist or dustcover but for the average user they are not required. The bolts and carriers for both are also milspec so those are also functionally identical. Matter of fact the only real difference would be the barrels and the 5R barrel of the early Sport is a better barrel. Chrome lined barrels are inferior to salt bath nitriding, like Melonite, in every aspect. Melonited barrels are going to last longer, provide better corrosion resistance as well as being more accurate than a comparable chrome lined barrel.   Never really understood why S&W built a top of the line AR then marketed it as a budget gun but they did.   And one more thing about "milspec". Most people consider MILSPEC the best but it is exactly the opposite. It just means it passed and that can mean it barely passed. Also, just because something is not milspec does not mean it is junk. Noveske barrels are some of the best barrels on the market but their molygonal rifling is not milspec. Same thing with monolithic uppers, they are great but not milspec. Blackhole weaponry is another good barrel that is not milspec. Chrome lined barrels are considered milspec but salt bath nitride barrels are magnitudes better than chrome lined even though nitride barrels are not milspec, yet. Plenty of great parts in the industry that are not milspec.

  45.   Yep.   Im going to stick to my AK or 300 BO suggestion.    I respect a skilled lever gun shooter in a "situation".   It takes a lot of practice,  but don't sell it short either.   I would rather have the higher capacity and faster semi-auto, of course.   My advice in these situations is to sit on it.    I see this a lot -- "I have $500 to spend what can it get".   Now, 500 might get you what you want, and if so, that is awesome.   If you are drooling after something that costs 750 ... sit on it until you have 750.    Or get the gun now and the optic for Christmas.    The point is to remove the budget restriction from the equation.  If you had 2500 bucks in hand today, right now, what would you buy to put in your truck?  Answer that one, and then see if its a workable goal in a workable timeframe.   And don't forget used ... that 750 gun new might fall into your hands for 600, 500 used if you find one.

  46. Some levers are picky. The shorter overall length often causes issues. The lifter doesn't support it enough to guide it into the chamber and they like to hit the edge of the barrel. It's really a non issue with a cartridge like a .44 magnum. Buying or trimming cases for 44 special is a waste of time and resources. You could just as easily load the 44 magnum to Special velocities and retain the overall length of the longer cartridge. Studious handloading can solve SO MANY firearms related issues.
