  6. When I safety check a weapon and show the person it's empty, and they still check it when it's in their hands, I smile and feel better. Glad it turned out without a bad ending and thanks for sharing. None of us can ever be too careful.

  7. Just wanted to share my Sig P220 Elite. So far it's seen 1400 hiccup free rounds and is dead on accurate. I barely have to do anything to get rounds on target.

  8. I am slowly getting better, 40 days left before I can start to get back to normal. Well as my surgical sight pain has started to subside I am starting to realize I am sore in other places. Probably just got manhandled but my right shoulder is hurting pretty bad but no where near as bad as the 2-3 ribs that are sore. The boney "wing" on my hip and my right knee are noticeable as well. The ribs are noticeably swollen. Matter of fact the ribs and shoulder are more bothersome than the surgery now. I slept on a chaise lounge last night and it helped me a lot. Before last night I have had less then four hours of sleep since Sunday. Last night I got four then another four this morning. I really appreciate those of you who have reached out with advice and encouraging words. It is helping me a lot.

  9. “I support the ban on assault weapons and I support slightly longer waiting periods to purchase a gun,” said Donald Trump in 2000 in his book, The America We Deserve. I find it humorous that a whole lot of people were screaming and foaming at the mouth over states' rights when we were talking about Obamacare or gay marriage, but they're downright eager to throw those rights away for concealed carry. Sure, let's have the federal government manage the carry process! Do you really think that suddenly states like California and Illinois are going to adopt Tennessee style gun laws? No. There will be some compromise, which means people on free states having the places they can carry, maybe even real gun registration forced on them so that the folks in anti gun states can carry. While I feel bad for folks in Maryland and DC, I'm not willing to give up any of my rights for them. They made their beds, let them figure out how to fix it.

  16.   As far as allowing military personnel to carry on base, etc. I wonder how much he could do as 'Commander in Chief' that would not have to have Congressional approval.  Would be fitting if he went the Obama route to reverse a lot of anti-gun crap.   Along those same lines, he could veto any new anti gun rights legislation that comes to his desk and instruct the agencies that fall under the Executive branch to 'enforce existing rules and do not create any new ones.'  Keeping the ATF from coming up with any new rules could be huge in itself.  Even better if he could order them to pare down and streamline existing rules.

  18. I know which one Comms would get... I have a M&P 40 with an Apex trigger and like it. Had it a long time. I'd suggest that you shoot one if you're serious. I do agree with Jonnin that a 1911 in 10mm seems like the best choice to me based on your like for both. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk

  19. Hmm well, Ill stick to my recommendation then.   If you love the 1911 and the 10mm, combination of the 2 seems like a fit.   The M&P is just going to feel like a popgun after a 10mm.    Again, though, I am assuming you actually want the recoil and blast and all.   If you want something on the tamer side, it might be just the thing.   I was a big noise recoil guy for a long long time,  and still am at heart, so keep that in mind :)

  24. Well, being an old retired Certified Mechanic I don't recall not opening the hood first thing on any car or truck I was going to work on unless I was plugging a flat tire on the car. Even on an oil change first thing done was rasie the hood period. As for these new fancy Technigological pieces of junk being built today they call cars are killing and maming people just driving down the road with air bags exploding, ignition switches just shutting off and computera taking over the car and not allowing drivers to slow down as the car continues to gain speed and brakes failing to help.  My son was working on one of the pieces of junk a few years back because he is also a certified mechanic when the computer took over and car began to pick up speed. All he did was put the car in neutral and pull hard on emergency brake to stop the vehicle as the motor reveved up till it blew up because the rev limiter in the computer failed because the computer had failed. The average drivers don't know to take it out of gear and pull the cable driven emergency brake. Toyota had to pick up the car from his shop and take it to a dealer that had to fixed the entire car including a new engine.  Shortly there after that model and several others went on manditory re call.    I will continue to own old cars until I am having dirt shoveled in my face with a marble stone for a pillow. I drive a 1997 Jeep Cherokee and that will be the newest vehicle I will ever own.....................jmho

  25.   I suspect most locals feel the same way.  And don't forget about Bass Pro.  They have two stores in the Memphis Area.  Also have good selection of reload supplies and Ammo.  Also Academy Sports.  They are now stocking a few powders and other reload stuff.  Another to add to your list is Avery Outdoors.  Very large supply of Duck hunting items, bows and accessory's and large collection of reloading supplies.  They do huge internet-mail order business on the Duck and bow items.   Another location is Keith Warner Gunsmith Inc and Gun Shop 6655 Poplar Ave #101 which is corner of Kirby and Poplar.  And the best NFA suppliers and other cool stuff is Accurate Law Enforcement located a couple blocks east of Guns and Ammo on Summer.  They are only open week days.    I haven't been able to go but there is a range and Gun store in Millington by the name of top-brass.  I can't comment on what they have but they do have web site.   Luap

  26.   That is the one part of Trump's stated policy with which I do not agree.  I have said, before, pretty much the same things you have said - a Federal government that mandates carry reciprocity will then be on the field to mandate the rules and requirements that every state must have in place in order for a person to be legal to carry.  To further the driver's license example that so many like to use folks should keep in mind that many of the laws that govern the 'standards' with which cars must comply originated in California.  Do we really want our carry laws originating there, too?  Do we want to be limited to carrying only guns that are 'California legal'?

  31. Same here . I've schooled several relatives and family members on guns and while I'm no expert in tactical manuvers my lecture covering clearing a weapon and never pointing it at someone in jest will remind you of that video of Hitler speaking to the Nazi party :) I tend to go Doyle Hargraves pretty quickly over those type of antics.

  35. they will not leave, they all are just a bunch of hot air.  i say to them and the people that hate it here,,, leave.  not hard to understand, just leave.   i have lived in several different nations over the years, third world, second world, and first world.  i tell you there is no place like home.  we have got it good here.  i can go anywhere in american and drink the tap water and not end up in the e.r. three hours later.  my power stays on 24/7, not out four hours plus each day.   i can walk outside my house and not get shot, kidnap, or blown up.   so to the a$$ hats that don't like it here, just leave.

  37. David is the best guy in the world. Honest to a fault and ALWAYS willing to help both by his actions and by offering up his vast amount of knowledge freely. The stuff I have personally witnessed him do for others is more than anyone else I have ever known. We met in my time of need when he bought a gun I was selling. I consider him a good friend and just like he would do anything to help me I would gladly do the same for him.

  39. It sounds like the new software will be a little more streamlined and intuitive - once we figure it out.  As far as being more like Facebook, Twitter, etc. I wouldn't know the difference there because I don't use Twitbook or similar things.  Still, it sounds like the new software borrows features from those things that will be nice.  Tapatalk?  I don't really care.  The first thing I do whenever I visit any forum of which I am a member on my cellphone or tablet is go to the bottom of the home page and click on 'full version' so that it looks exactly like what I see when I log on with a PC.   Now, since I got that out of the way, I think there was some discussion earlier in the thread about cheese?  So, we'll all be getting free cheese as a reward for being patient through all of this?  Awesome!  Just to throw it out there, I like Manchego.  Asiago is pretty good, too.  Feta is pretty good when I'm in that kind of mood but I'd have to have some Kalamata olives to go with it.  (So, will the new forum have an, "I'm being a smartass," button for people like me?)

  40. Glad no one was injured. A teachable moment for sure. But having the sac to own up to it on here says a lot too. I don't care who you are, you hand me a gun and I clear chamber or check for clear chamber. If that offends you oh well. Better your ego be shattered than me or YOU shot.

  43.   It is absolutely ludicrous to me that a public service official doesn't know the damn difference between a privilege (driving) and a right (self defense.)  I think it is ludicrous that some, such officials seem to believe that they are qualified to determine who should be allowed to be best equipped for self defense and who should not.  I also think it is ludicrous that this guy - who should know better than most - seems to be stupid enough to believe that forcing people to take a test, etc. before being allowed to exercise a right will stop criminals from carrying illegally and doing illegal things with the illegally carried weapons.

  45. Those classes are to inform the people; the classes are not bound by the letter of the law. Laws generally let you know what you can’t do; not what’s a good idea to do. I am fully aware (as are most here) that I’m not required to hand over my HCP; just like I’m not required to roll down my widows and turn on my dome light at night. I do those things for several reasons; I respect cops, I have been in their shoes, and by showing them that courtesy I reduce the chances of me getting a ticket. Nothing wrong with teaching that in a class.
