  1. So, I was in the market for a cheap coyote gun when this used Axis popped up. Crappy rattle-can stock, stock trigger (30lb of grit...) & factory Bushnell. Mind you, it was $200 so I'm not complaining & it came with 400 round of 50gn hollowpoints. Picked it up this morning & immediately decided it was too long &, well....normal. 12 o'clock & I get a 1hr lunch break so I figured "*%#$ it". Pulled the stock, removed the mounts & scope, whipped off the barrel, ran to a friend with a lathe, used said lathe to chop it to 16¼", turned a nice 11° crown, ran home, removed the trigger, replaced the stock spring, installed an over travel screw, polished the trigger & sear (3lb pull, zero overtravel. Didn't have time to fix the pre-travel. I'll live with it!), reinstalled it, screwed on the barrel, headspaced it, tightened everything up, scope on, stock on, loaded the mag & zeroed the thing (1½" high at 100yds, ¾"group) & STILL had time for a cheese sammich! Do THAT with your Remchester!

  2. I found this on Rimfire Central several weeks ago, and it has been driving me nuts. I thought I would post here to see if I could get some other people interested. Misery loves company, right? Rules: .22 LR only 100 yards Must get 8 out of 10 straight shots in the bullseye (no sighters once you start) Breaking the outer black ring is in Must use official target linked below No fluorescent stickers to enhance the bullseye Bench rest ok - anything but a vise Click here to download target. Print as actual size. The bullseye should print just under 1 5/8". My best is 7/10 so far. I have done that over and over, so I'm about to lose it since I can't get that 8th round in there. But I've really been having fun with it. Ammo inconsistency and wind has been killing me. When you complete the challenge post a pic of your target along with details on your rifle, scope, and ammo used. If several people get interested in this I may offer up some sort of prize or drawing like they did over at RFC. Good luck!

  3. Hey...if any of you Canik TP9 SA/SF owners are looking for mags for your pistols...Aim Surplus has them for 23.99. I ordered 4 Sunday night and received them this morning. They are 18 round mags, stamped for Canik TP9 Series Pistols. Made by Mec-Gar, who is the original manufacturer for Canik. Came in the Century Arms blister pak, marked for Canik TP9. Best price I've seen on these in a while. And they do work in the TP9 Elite. Which ships with 2 15 round mags.

  5. MOA is MOA. And, the wind is not going to be the same among contestants. The hard part is shooting 1 MOA with a 22. I'm sure Hozzie's guns will do it easily.

  6. I've been wanting to build a AR pistol for a long time, and that day finally came I purchased a 80% lower and had a friend set the machine up, no drill jig was used , and it only cost me 1 drink to push the button on the machine. IMG_20170113_191000524_HDR_zps3dmi1kyy by Johnny Rotten, on Flickr Then I purchased a PSA pistol upper and LPK, I made a kind-of custom buffer tube foam cover, so here's my truck gun... 2017-07-13_05-25-09 by Johnny Rotten, on Flickr Shot 30 rounds this afternoon in the backyard and really liked it, my son's first comment was it's as loud as our Barrett 50. I need to get BUIS, angle grip and install my red dot..

  7. Seems like these small pocket sized pistols have been very popular as of late ... And seem to be a must in a carry rotation... This article has been floating around for awhile .. But for someone looking to purchase a small 9mm it would be worth a look .. Myself .. I picked a Taurus PT709 Slim before watching this .. And Im happy with my choice !! http://www.gunsandammo.com/handguns/compacts/single-stack-9mm-shootout/

  9. I've owned a Dan Wesson Pointman 9 and a couple of Rock Islands that shot 9mm. One RIA was a 9mm the other was a .38Super which I installed a 9mm barrel. Because the RIA 9mms work so well at the price point they come in at I would look no further unless you want one of the "mini" 1911 alloy 9mms. I found no appreciable functional difference between the >$1K DW PM9 and the RIAs.

  11. Count me in on the meetings, got 4 right now and an eye out for #5. Now I've not smithed on any of mine, but that's because they don't need it. All 4 were around half inch from the start. First 3 shots from my 10PC were basically touching at 100yd. I'm honestly afraid to buy anything other than Savage... don't want to be disappointed. Next on my list is to find one on the cheap to "play" with. Other than that, a weather warrior in .243 would fill a gap I perceive to have in my lineup. I've steered away from the axis, but I see a lot of good feedback on them.

  12. The EMP does not have a composite frame. It's aluminum alloy. I'm not aware of any restriction on +P ammo, although I don't know why you would want to make that a habit anyway. The difference in frame size is not that dramatic. I like the EMP for a carry gun, but I really enjoy shooting my 9mm Range Officer Champion.

  13. YEP....they do a LOT of cuss'n!!!! I do really love to watch them though. I'm a lot like Dave. I've eaten a lot of squirrel in my days....but at my age I don't know if I could shoot me a mess o' squirrel or not. They are delicious though if cooked right.

  15. I won't tell you how many Taurus pistols I have owned, and still own. I'll just say that with one exception, I've never had a problem with one. I bought one of the first 4", 22 magnum revolvers Taurus put out about 8 years ago. The model 94, I believe. I had cyclinder issues with it, and couldn't put a grouping under a foot together at 10 yards. Took it back to the seller, one of our advertisers, and they gave me a full refund on it. Waited six months and ran across a used one, bought it and have had no problems with it. I owned a PF9 long enough to put a mag thru it and sold it. Nothing wrong, I just thought it had way to harsh a recoil. Yeah, I'm a wimp. Not the brand name I go for first, but not afraid to buy one. The last one I bought was for my father-in-law; a Model 85 38 special. For reasons I won't go into, I have it now. It's a nice little pistol.

  16. I had one climb the tree I was in this past season. I was in a Summit Viper climber, and he climbed the backside of the tree right past me! I won't lie, it made me a little nervous, and I was ready to fight, lol. He climbed all the way up into the branches above me and made all kinds on commotion. I don't think he knew I was there until he climbed past me, but then I'm pretty sure he cussed me out.

  19. I'm one of those snobs. I have 5 Geissele triggers. I won't say that I need them on my carbines, but I shoot better with them. 3 of my AR's have milspec triggers, and they suck. I DO believe the high speed mtch triggers are needed on the precision rifles. It's much easier to hold a gun under 1/2 MOA when you don't have to drag an 8 pound trigger over a pile of gravel

  21. What they said. Just bring them home. Transport them unloaded for safety reasons and so as not to run afoul of any state laws as you pass through, as Oh Shoot pointed out. No paperwork to fill out. The unlikely exception would be if any of the firearms are considered items regulated by the National Firearms Act, commonly called NFA or Class 3 firearms. These would be short barreled rifles, short barreled shotguns, fully automatic (not semi automatic) firearms, and suppressors (aka silencers). If the collection you're inheriting includes any of those items, let us know and we'll direct you to some specific paperwork that has to be sent to the ATF. There's no fee/tax for the paperwork during an inheritance, but it still needs to be filed.

  28. Definitely has a cool story with it which was even more of a reason to get it! I missed out on a Luger about a year ago. Could have had it for a little less money because of employee discount. Looked like that one had a force match on the numbering and I can't recall what year it was made. I had to pass to buy an engagement ring. There'll be more opportunities for another Luger and my now wife wouldn't have been very understanding.

  29. I would like to add, its another car comparison: Keep it OEM! In my teens and well into my late 20s, every car I owned, every truck, 4-Runner, motorcycle, four wheeler etc. I modified it somehow anywhere from tinted windows, after market wheels, bigger tires, high performance tires, engine mods, engine swaps, lift kits, lowering kits, lower gears, spools, interiors, lights, spoilers, pipes, chips, cams, heads, carbs, headers, emissions removal, and the list can go on and on. As I got older and wiser, what I learned from all of those performance enhancers, it did make me feel good, it did separate me from others and it did allow me to brag and showoff, but in reality it sucked tons of unnecessary cash out of me, it eroded the re-sale value even though I thought it increased the value, and by far the biggest unplanned consequence was that it eroded the reliability of my machine. Reliability means more to me than going from 0-60 in a few seconds. Since age 30 which was 20 years ago, I have not modified any vehicle I own, and though I might have missed tons of fun, milli second performances and bragging rights with others, I rest easy knowing that my machines are highly reliability and I have few extra clams in my account (or no CC bills). I have now carried that mindset over to my guns as well. Yes, I will add a scope, sling, and on occasion maybe a rubber grip sleeve for my glocks, but that is about it. I will not tinker with the mechanisms, modify anything, or gadget up any thing. I just like to keep things OEM! Does it really retard my performance capability, the world will never know. Finally, if you are flushed with cash or have good credit, young in mind and heart, adventurous, and have not yet reached that level of thought of serious full of life wisdom, and where reliability is not even an issue or how can it be an issue, spend and modify away, have fun and live a little, show off what you have, as for me, I have already learned that lesson while riding off in to the sunset to be that old wise fart that all young people dislike!

  30. lol I just watched part of the video... He starts into "stock triggers are fine" ... "However, I highly modified this PTR to fit my shooting needs, and all of those modifications helped out the trigger pull tremendously" Good grief

  31. Mil spec triggers are fine for their intended purpose. Extreme durability. They work fine for 90%of what the rifle is used for. But when you want to shoot faster, with better precision or more tactile feel I the trigger you change it out. A Honda will get you from A to B. But depending on your needs, a Ford Raptor, Rolls Royce, Lamborghini, or Kawasaki Ninja is going to be the better option if it's available.

  35. There isn’t National Federal Reciprocity on driver’s license. And if the Feds did it (Carry Permits); it wouldn’t be without a lot more information and requirements than we have now. I wonder how many people out there don’t know their driver’s license won’t be accepted to fly or enter Federal facilities next year. https://www.dhs.gov/real-id-and-you-rumor-control Nope… I’m okay with dealing with the individual states.

  37. A main difference between this and the AR-7/Henry Survival Rifle is that the action and barrel are exposed here, but enclosed in the stock in the AR-7. Plus a couple hundred more clams for the Ruger+Magpul vs the HSR. Still, it's a neat way to pack up a 10/22 takedown.

I have the capability to stream a half dozen real time VERY high quality security camera feeds and several streams of HD video from my media server all at once that are all very currently DRASTICALLY restricted by upload speed.
