  1. You mean you actually are unarmed in the shower? How amateur of you.

  2. Well I was wrong about the amount of the reward earlier. It was not 60,000.00 but was 130,000.00 dollars. I sincerely do hope that this great American armed citizen receives the well deserved reward for his bravery and not allowing these bad guys to escape his grip on them. It just is another PRIME EXAMPLE of the capabilities of a well armed and evidently well trained American that will never get the attention from the news medias that should be well deserved.........JMHO

  3. Smokey Mountain Knife Works just sent out their first in a long long time automatic knife catalog. It's only for residents of Tennessee. I took 6 Smith & Wesson Extreme Ops auto knives to Peru as gifts to LEOS I either shot with or just came in contact with. I still carry my original one with most of the finish worn off. I may cerakote it but that would double it's value. It's only about $25 new now. Just because I could I got the BOKER KALASHNIKOV in desert tan for about $50 delivered. It's button doesn't stick out like the S&W but it's still a good deal. They have knives from about $20 to several hundred so you can get whatever you want, or aren't worried about tearing up, my big deal. Register your email ahead of time to get their offers and they'll send you a 10% discount. I don't have anything to do with them, I'm posting because it's been a while since I've actually seen them for sale. Cherokee Slim

  4. Just received my 75B Omega back from David, very pleased with his customer service and looking forward to shooting it tomorrow. My Omega was needing a trip to a qualified gunsmith after having been fixed by a local expert. How one can take 4 months to booger up a hammer and sear as result of replacing a trigger bar spring is beyond comprehension. Contacted CGW in late February, was advised they were taking in no new work until late March / April. David told me he manages the inflow so he and his team can focus on the guns on the bench vs. the backlog of guns on the shelf. Received email from CGW, ready for additional work, if still interested, please contact. Opted for the Pro Package. Process for work order, shipping, etc all handled by CGW, combination of email and phone 8- 10 week promised turn time. Sent mid April, returned in approximately 8 weeks. Received a call from David verbally detailing the work completed and final cost. He replaced the sear, added $9 to my original quote. Credit card by phone for payment. Comparing the trigger action to my SDP from CZC, the Omega trigger is better. It's got to have something to do with geometry... I also think it equates the quality of work put out by David and Angus. Comparing the P01 to the 75B, note the differences in the pics: the upswept beaver tail allows me to get a slightly higher grip. Omega specific, the shape of the trigger is more comfortable for my itchy trigger finger and shorter reset/take up.

  5. I got the same "common sense" registration argument from a coworker the other day. He opined that registration would provide extra motivation for people to not leave guns laying around and make it easier for the cops to determine who owns guns used in crimes. He compared it to car registration. My response was ... so you're saying a car owner should have some liability if they leave their car unlocked and it gets stolen and used in a crime? No, I'm just talking about all these cases where kids pick up guns left laying about and shoot one another. How is registration going to fix that? It'll give people incentive to not leave guns laying around. So fear of liability? How's that any different from now? In most instances like that I'm aware of, the owner of the gun has been quite easy to find. And you think people who would otherwise leave a loaded gun laying around in the presence of small children will be motivated by knowing their gun is registered? Yes. Um... ok.

  6. I personally don't believe liberals deal in logic. They do however deal with oppression, hate, deceit, socialism and outright lies. I know there are other adjectives for them but you get the idea. Left and right believe in many end beliefs.....the problem is they usually have a much different way of getting there and if you aren't using their way then they start the name calling and the rest that goes with it.

  9. The future of gun shows for me is over. The prices have gotten way out of hand. I've been doing my gun related buying through the internet. I shop prices, make my choice, and the item is sitting on my porch in a few days. Guns go through my local FFL dealer.

  10. Maybe they could start an annual congressional 3 gun tournament. I highly doubt anyone would show up at practice for that with the intention to shoot any congresmen! Heck they might even find out how fun shooting is...

  11. Hard to carry on the field, but aimed fire from those in the dugouts might have brought things to an end faster. Sadly it probably wouldn't have changed the result much in this case. Everyone I saw interviewed said it took them a few moments and a couple of shots to realize the gravity of the situation. By then the congressman had been shot. If those two Capitol Police officers had not been there then of course it would have been a very different story... It makes me wonder about how long I would take to react in similar circumstances when seconds count. In this sort of situation the aggressor has the advantage for a few crucial seconds. The only advantage the direct target has against this sort of attack is that they seem to universally be poor shots... The advantage swings to the legal gun owner when they can respond in defense of others. This is unexpected by the coward and they usually fall apart quickly.

  13. In all seriousness, I have thought of it, but I have little fingers around. I also thought of things like these Tactical Walls items, but budget and spouse agreement are issues there. They make a ton of options including an "Issue Box" that Is a tissue box with a false bottom for a pistol.

  14. I've been watching and wondering which way the fence riders would go after this horrific shooting episode. You never know, since the Liberals brainwashing has been really strong. A person could hate the feeling of helplessness in that kind of situation of desperately needing a gun and not having one and still slip on either side. It all comes down to their outlook on what a firearm is. A tool that can be used for protection of self and loved one(s) or an evil entity that should be eradicated. I've read several reports that the GOP members are wanting to protect themselves, which is a power everyone should be allowed to have of course. This leads me to one thing though. They are wanting to be exempt from DC's anti carry laws. I think that if a law exists that those in Washington feel the need to be exempted of, then it's a pretty ####ty law to start with and shouldn't be on the books at all. Sorry for the French, but that is how I feel.

  15. I would not say it was cowardly of them to let an armed civilian take them down and put them face first on the concrete. I think they realize very fast that dealing with an armed civilian that is willing to take them on is just as willing to shoot and kill both of them and they decided to go into survival mode rather than fertilizer mode.......jmho

  16. Captured by a homeowner AND no 'blaze of glory' for these guys. Good. Also shows them to be cowards at heart. Sure, they could 'ambush' and murder corrections officers and they had no problem strutting around, threatening and tying up an elderly couple and holding them for three hours but when one guy with a gun gets the drop on them they just apparently give up and go quietly. I hope they not only receive fitting punishment for all the things they have done to escape and while on the run but that having their run end this way will turn any 'respect' fellow inmates might have had into disdain for having been captured in such a manner.

  18. The report did not spend but a brief minute of so on the armed citizen that caught them but a long time about their jouney after they escaped. I sure hope the guy gets the $60,000.00 dollars reward they had offered for them. It was for information leading up to the capture of them. I don't think they figured an armed citizen would just hand them over to police..................

  19. For those who have a multi level home do you have a weapon on both floors in a quick access location? We have a bedside pistol in a biometric safe and I am thinking of doing a similar thing on the ground level as well. For those who have done it is it 100% the exact same setup and if no why?

  20. My first emergency packs ended up being medium and large ALICE packs. I had every thing needed to survive for a few weeks or a month. One day I realized that I was carrying waaaay too much. Off the top of my head, here's what I've got in my trunk bag: Poncho, first aid kit, fire starters, knife, multi tool, light sticks, some sealed MRE granola bricks, wool socks, wool glove liners, skoal can size survival kit, multi tool, British emergency shelter kit (lightweight tough tarp, stakes, tie downs), thin steel wire and compass. Oh, and some .22LR and a few 9mm sealed in plastic skoal cans. I have one in my wife's vehicle for her. Sort of same set up but I make her keep a pair of tennis shoes in the trunk in the event she has to abandon the vehicle.

  22. For those of you that are SKS fans I picked up a nice one this week. I've been looking at this in a shop in Arkansas for almost 2 years. It had a 30rd mag and a jacked up receiver cover with a bubba'd scope mount. What caught my eye was the laminate stock...China did not make many and this is a beauty. Long story short, I had cash and they priced it for less than I was going to offer. I said I'll take it as long as we can swap the aftermarket parts for factory parts from you other SKSs. They had a bunch of bubba mis-matches so it did not affect any matching numbered guns. The laminate is fine grained and tight. This was a good trip. I found tins of 7.62x54r for 125.50 out the door. .22LR 525rd Federal for $23 and .22mag ammo for $12 a box. Here she is on the right next to my other para rescue.

  25. I have no idea what's going on. Not two hours ago this story said the hero's name was being withheld due to death threats from white supremacists: http://www.knoxnews.com/story/news/crime/2017/06/16/tennessee-residents-were-ready-guns-when-georgia-fugitives-came-their-way/403691001/ Now he'e coming out with his family in tow saying the two scum just laid down. I have another question. What is the significance of the AR-7 tattoo above that one tard's eye?
    1 point
  26. Yea, I just watched that news conference. He said he was armed, but never had to pull his weapon because they laid down and surrendered. He thinks they did it because they thought he was an Officer. He did not mention a neighbor either.
    1 point
  27. Well that was not the story I just heard but you may be correct. I just know the homeowner read his explanation from a script and even had documented times of each event which sounded to rehearsed from my viewpoint. He never mentioned that he and his neighbor were armed in the part I just saw on channel 5 News. All he said was he had every gun he owns loaded and ready and then began praying.

  32. I kind of have 'tiers' of 'get home stuff', I suppose. When I had the medical issues (colostomy bag that was, eventually, reversed - thankfully) I had to carry supplies with me all the time. I also, in the beginning - due to surgical wounds - couldn't stand wearing any kind of pants except ones with loose, elastic waistbands and no belt. That meant not really carrying anything in my pockets, anyway. Because of this I got used to carrying an edc bag and by the time the immediate medical need ended, I had decided that I really liked doing so. For that reason I began trying out different edc bags and items. I have one of the 5.11 PUSH packs like peejman linked, above (mine is flat dark earth color) that I carried for about a year and liked but then decided to try the RUSH MOAB 6. That pack, paired with a Rothco (I think) bottle carrier is my current edc. It comes in to work with me every day and sits beside me at my desk. I really like it for that purpose although I must admit it is a bit much for carrying around on weekends when I am out and about with friends, etc. so it often stays in the truck rather than going with me on those occasions. In fact, I am thinking about setting the PUSH pack up as my 'weekend warrior' with a slightly different/more streamlined and stripped down list of supplies. I also have a SOG sling pack that stays in the truck. It has a few supplemental items and has room to toss a few other, slightly larger items I keep in the truck into. I don't have the sling pack full but, instead, am thinking that if I really had to go on foot I would put some or all of the contents of the RUSH pack into the sling pack. I actually used the sling pack as my edc before getting the PUSH pack but it is a little less convenient to carry and use on a daily basis than the PUSH or the RUSH, IMO. However, it would be easier to deal with and carry in a 'have to walk home and might take a couple of days' situation. The third tier is a clear, plastic tote/bin with a lid. In it I keep a few bottles of water, a couple of can's of Campbell's soup, a can of SPAM and a few, other things along with a Sterno folding stove and a few cans of fuel. These wouldn't be so much for taking with me as for in case - for some reason - I had to shelter in place with my vehicle for some time before I even could begin walking home or in case it is possible to get home in my vehicle but road conditions, etc. that I have to stop for extended periods of time or even in case I got stranded for some reason in a non SHTF event and had to hunker down for an extended period. I also keep a couple of Mountain House type meals in the truck that I would take with me if I had to abandon the vehicle. This is the RUSH pack as it sits at my desk: The small compartment made onto the strap - probably intended to hold an MP3 player, etc. but mine holds: Yeah, the paint on the Sabre can is a little beaten up but the spray is good until 2020 The bottle holder has: I don't keep the bottle full of water for weight purposes but if I had time before heading out of work, etc. I would fill it with potable water before leaving. I plan to eventually replace the bottle with a single walled stainless version but for now the cup could be used to boil water, if necessary. As shot of the contents of the small, rear compartment on the bag, itself: The usual - bank line, paracord, etc. Funny thing, the mini sewing kit might seem a little out of place but as this is also an edc bag the chances of me needing that are probably higher than needing a lot of the other stuff. Some more stuff in that compartment that isn't immediately visible in the above pic: The small, lightly padded sunglasses compartment holds, surprise - a cheap pair of sunglasses. But I keep them rolled up in a 100% cotton bandana to both help further protect the sunglasses and provide me with a cotton cloth if needed. The larger, middle compartment holds: Just a few of the things in there are soft leather work gloves, a headlamp, a lightweight backpacker's tarp, a super-compact umbrella and a very large, clear trash can liner. The mesh compartment holds a small Ozark Trail brand flashlight on which the end section slides up so that it can double as a small lantern (which is why it is in there) as well as a SAK, small measuring tape and sundry cables for cell phone, etc. There is a second, zippered compartment below the mesh compartment that holds a small, Band-Aid brand travel first aid kit that I have supplemented by adding a few OTC pain pills, etc. And finally the front compartment: Among its contents is a more 'tactical' flashlight - not high end, just a Bushnell but it works well, is bright enough for me, seems sturdily built and has a pretty mean strike bezel. You might notice I have multiple, small lights - as well as pretty much always carrying some type of small light on my keychain. Also in that compartment is a retractable honing steel, Gerber Suspension multitool (yeah, I know there are Gerber multitool haters but I like them pretty well), a couple of 'disposable' rain panchos (remember, this is also an edc bag), a small spray container of bug repellent, some liquid bandage, a comb, travel toothbrush, travel-sized toothpaste, pens, a small fire kit in an Altoids tin and maybe a few, sundry other things (this reminds me I need to replace the small pad of paper I had in there.) I do not use the concealed carry compartment on this bag as I can't carry at work and really am not a fan of off body carry, anyhow. When not at work and in a location where I can carry my primary handgun would be whatever I am carrying on me at the time. I may or may not have a handgun in a lockbox in my vehicle. While there are a few things that are included with a view to SHTF, etc. many of things in the bag - although it might seem a bit much for edc - have actually proven to be useful in daily activities. I try not to go too overboard but at the same time I am a fan of the old saw that it is better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

  41. Well, I thought about bikinis but I don't think I'd want to see most of the folks that I have seen at past gun shows in bikinis so that's out. Prepping stuff? Maybe it would be more appropriate to have a prepping show/expo with a portion of the sales floor dedicated to guns/ammo/reloading supplies rather than vice versa. I guess I'll go with 'nothing'. Honestly, about the only think I'd like to see that is usually missing from gun shows would be actual deals rather than people trying to sell guns for $50 to $100 more than I can buy them at an LGS.

  42. This coward is indeed the only one responsible for his actions and he's gone now. The bigger problem is that there is a measurable part of the population that doesn't have the skills to deal with loosing. They want a participation award for living... if they can't get it they will throw a violent temper tantrum. Most of these cowards use only words, or social media, but a few become physically violent. The problem as I see it comes from these few people following a meme together and getting incited to group violence. Their minds can't differentiate between right and wrong they have no morals and are cowards of the highest order looking for something to make them strong. They latch on to an idea and use that idea for strength and justification of violence. BLM riots are the same as the Berkley and Evergreen campus riots. To them it's about fairness, not right or wrong. They feel justified to threaten or commit violence in the name of fairness To them it's all about what they WANT to be given, rather than what they will DO for themselves. This has been a long time coming. I think it's a form of civil war. The wanters vs the doers, fairness vs hard work... I'm a doer and will defend myself because of that, I won't go out and commit acts of violence because I don't need to to make myself feel good, or strong. I have the moral strength to know right from wrong and not harm my fellow man except in defense.

Also picked up some additional T hangers and some rubber straps to try in place of chains. I get most of my steel from https://shootingtargets7.com/store/ they have a sale on every holiday, even small ones like groundhogs day. If you get on their mailing list they will remind you of the holiday sales.

What I do have an issue with is they don't want us to have that same priviledge in many instances and work so hard to try and deny us what they feel they should have. I am glad that the only one killed was the bad guy and Thank GOD for those brave Capitol Police officers for their action even after both being wounded by the bad guy...........

  46. I have a love/hate relationship with my Glock 19s. I hate that I love them so much. But I do. They work great for me, carry easily, have a decent mag capacity, are reliable and parts are as ubiquitous for them as they are for a Chevy 350 engine. You can damn near buy Glock accessories at the local Quickie Mart with a Slushie and a full tank of gas for your ride. I have several others that are always vying for attention, though. HK VP9, Sig P320 and M&P 2.0.

  47. I'm not sure if I disagree with that or not. I found with aging eyesight the red dots worked well for me. Shooting with both eyes open was a big learning curve but while living in Tucson all I had was time to practice....most times 4 or 5 times a week. At any rate I've become used to shooting with them now and ain't bad for an old man. I'm confident with them and I guess it's all I can hope for.
