  1. No. Counting total cases makes sense. And as a result of that method the lethality rate should also be low. It's a bad bug no doubt. And it likes to pick on oldsters and health impared individuals, just like every flu bug that's ever been around. The problem here is that every politician from every party is trying to use this to their advantage. Hang em all I say.....

  2. Back when I was working multiple jobs, one of which was at night. I stopped to get gas in Madison (don't do that BTW) at 2 am. Had three guys circle the station, park on the far side, then two flanked me at distance while the third made an indirect/direct line towards me. The flags went of as I was the only one there. Didn't have my gun on me but it was in my front seat. I made eye contact with the first guy, grabed my gun but kept it out of sight, and began planning attack priorities if they continued. Fortunately when I didn't break eye contact with the lead guy, they all stopped about 20 feet out, stared at me for a minute, then turned and retreated in the same way they approached. They got back in the car and left without showing plates. I don't know if they had ill intent, but that was the first time I fully understood the importance of have an equalizer present. I would have been completely helpless in that scenario otherwise.

  3. Spot on Nightrunner. Some people have this fantasy that you could live off the land. That might of worked in the 1800s when the U.S. population was around 5 million total. With 331 million of us now, we're already "artificially" feed through the farming/food industry. There isn't enough wildlife to sustain us anymore. Guess you could go total vegan and eat dandelions and stuff like that. Me, without bacon, I'm sure I'd die quickly.

  4. This year made my 2nd year ever fishing for Crappie and my best year of fishing for them. I might catch bigger later on but for Watts Bar these are dang good fish and my personal best. Dont know the weight just got the measurements. The black went 16 1/4in and 12.5in Girth. The white went 15in with a 12in girth. All I know is they sure are good to look at so the $310 was well spent. I used a old piece of barn wood and stained the edges with Minwax Red Mahogany 225 to get that burnt look on the outer edges. And used Cocunut Oil for the rest to keep the color lighter.

  6. I'd venture to say the percentage of folks that put 35,000+ rounds on one gun in its lifetime is very small. Basically the average Joe shouldn't worry about the round count life of their .40 pistols. I know I'm not.

  8. Glad you got the Venom dried out. I have one on a SW22 Victory and it’s a winning combination. Happy I bought it when I did last fall after entirely too much time hand-wringing over the cost of a stupid little dot, but PSA had a deal that couldn’t be beat. Should have bought two.

  10. I'm having an outpatient procedure done tomorrow at the hospital so they had me go in Tuesday for a covid test. All I can say is "damn!!!". They put that swab in my nose so far I was expecting to see brain tissue on it when they pulled it out. BTW, it came back negative, so at least I didn't have it when they did the test

  11. Around 2010 I was in a First TN bank about 10-15 minutes before a guy tried to rob it. He didn't realize that branch had an armed guard. I was carrying my Ruger LCR at the time and always wonder what might have happened. I'm glad I wasn't there. Last year my wife and I were dead asleep around 0100 when our home alarm started blaring. I never realized how jarring that would be. I was up, out of bed, Glock 21 in hand, round chambered in maybe 5 seconds. My wife was so scared she wasn't much help. I had her deactivate the alarm from her phone. Once that noise was off I just stood there and listened while keeping my G21 pointed at entrance to our bedroom. I realized pretty quickly it had to be a false alarm because our dog wasn't barking or growling. I don't think he would bite anyone but he wouldn't be silent. The alarm was saying kitchen window breach which I determined was closed. The sensor had just failed in the middle of the night. I was thankful for my weapon mounted light and the fact that we could control the alarm from our phone. It taught us some good lessons which we later talked about. I hope I never have a real encounter.

  12. Send it to Willis68 at Bad Ass Blades. I bought several different sharpening systems and got decent results, but my money would have been better spent sending it to Willis instead. Plus he's local.

  13. I’m sure Amazon is kicking their azz. They had ridiculous shipping rates for so long; prime members don’t have to play that game. I doubt it’s anything more than them needing added income.

  22. I use to look on Midway but since Amazon is a thing now, unless it’s restricted from being sold on amazon, I’ll just get it there. Otherwise I’ll look somewhere more specialized, like a ammo site or reloading site, etc. Im sure I’m not the only one who has shifted business to Amazon...

  23. look into Edge Pro system, not pro grade but good for DIY. Veritas compound and a nice piece of leather on a wooden block for polishing. If you want to go old school get a double sided Norton India Stone carborundum (coarse) and Aluminum Oxide (fine) and do it by hand. Lots of practice!!

  24. My only situation that was really frightening was in Columbia in the early 1990's. Did some work with a gift store there for a while, and always left after closing hours. No problem at the mall, but I stopped at a little roadside drive thru burger joint for a meal. Pulled and drove around back(didn't even begin to like that) to the order window. Small building, roads on 2 sides, brush on the others. As I was waiting, I saw a young man on the sidewalk coming towards the drive thru. He ducked into the brush, probably though I didn't or wouldn't see him. After a moment, he trotted to the corner of the building and looked at my Blazer. I guess he though he was invisible to me. But him being back lit and already watching, my spidy senses were all a tingle. I had my BHP by my thigh. As he came up from behind, between the building and my back fender, I laid the muzzle in the open window and asked what he was doing. Never a word spoken by him, just turned and walked away. About this time my meal came. Little gal in the window saw the pistol and almost fainted. I had to call out and explain what had happened. She wanted to call Columbia police, but I wasn't staying around for it. trucked on up Columbia Ave and hit Saturn Pkwy to home.

  25. Speaking for myself, only, the 407K is the only one I know of that fits the footprint on my Wather PPS M2. It now has the Shield RSMc, which I recently got back from warranty ( took months ). As long as the Shield is working ok, I'll stick with it. If it goes belly up again, I will go with the 407 K. So, that's my reason, others, don't know. Hope that helped.

  26. I think the KME is the best buy in the sharpening business. They make a great product that will sharpen everything you've got. If you're looking to spend a little less, a Spyderco sharpmaker and a decent strop will serve you well. Frankly, for S30V - so long as you're not abusive - you should be able to keep it popping sharp with a strop so long as you keep up with it.

  33. Please let us know what you think of the green when you get them. I don’t know if they still are, but they were charging more for the green. I question that green would be any easier to see than red, but I haven’t tried it. Or if it is, is it substantial?

  34. Several years ago they used to have a pretty good inventory of some interesting stuff like S&W revolvers. I always wanted to stop by there on my way to Tunica, but my wife was always in a hurry to go gambling.

  35. This is really tough on the elderly, especially those in assisted living. I had to go to Illinois last week to put my parents in assisted living. They had to be tested and then quarantine in their house for several days waiting for the results. They were both negative. I told them I would not come to help move their stuff until they were in the facility. I didn’t want to kill my parents. I arrived the day they went in. They have to be in quarantine for 14 days. Moving from a 3 bedroom house in a retirement community to a 750 Sq. Ft. apartment and then not being able to leave for 14 days is tough. My mom is still in pretty good shape mentally, but my Dad has dementia. So its hard for him to understand what’s going on. After the quarantine, they are allowed to go out, to go eat, to the store, whatever, but if they do they have to quarantine 14 days again. I don’t suspect that will change until this is totally over, or there is a vaccine. My Mom could no longer take care of the housework, and they needed to do this. But I feel terrible for them. I wear a mask when I go in somewhere, to me, its common sense. I have hand sanitizer in the truck and use it whenever I get in or out. On a lighter note, I needed some beer and Walgreens was the closest place. When I pulled into the lot, I thought, they really take this stuff seriously in Illinois, everyone going in the store was wearing a mask. Then I saw the sign, I don’t know if its all Walgreens or just that one, but they required it to enter the store. I needed beer, so absolutely I wore a mask. My sister came up from Texas. I told her the folks in the retirement community were probably pretty nervous seeing Tennessee and Texas plates on the vehicles in my parents driveway. I hope a vaccine becomes available soon. Of course there will be a lot of drama over that. But as soon as my Doctor tells me he thinks it’s safe; I will be there getting it.

  37. Welcome. There seemingly aren't all that many of us here from the good end of the state ... Why would you drive to Paducah to get to Union City from there? Hit I-40, get off either at exit 108, Parker's Crossroads and head north on 22, or take the Hwy 45 exit in Jackson to 45W straight into UC ...

  41. Dennis I think you wrote what a lot of people are thinking and discussing in their close circles. I certainly don't wish this to happen, but I am afraid there will be some violent conflicts soon if these "peaceful protesters" that are looting, burning, attacking cops and civilians and closing down interstates aren't arrested and put into the pokey for quite awhile. And if things aren't crazy enough, the black guy driving the Jaguar in Seattle on I-5 was arrested for hitting the little idiots blocking an Interstate highway. I am sorry that 1 was killed and 1 serious injuries, but if you stand in the interstate, there is a good probability you may encounter a vehicle that may not see you in time to avoid hitting you. Enough is enough and what is really crazy is the people in Britain, France, Australia and others are protesting. I'm sorry, but they ain't got a dog in this hunt. Best advice for all is to keep praying for this nation, because we can't do it alone!!

  46. It reads like you are thinking a bushcraft/live off the land type scenario. I’m curious how we get there from where we are now. Living in the wilderness with only what you find and what you can fit in a backpack and maybe in a game cart is very difficult and has a TON of disadvantages. Even in the most catastrophic TEOTWAWKI scenario, long term survival (longer than 6 months) will be dependent upon if you can raise animals and grow a garden. In the 6-12 months prior to that (immediately following the “event”) when it’s complete and total anarchy with Mad Max roaming gangs (hypothetical) you will want nothing less than an AR/AK and high capacity pistol. But afterwards, you can’t roam forever, when you settle down or bug in, you can have anything and everything (gun wise) you can get. You will have to get a plot of land or work for someone who does. If you really want a 2-gun battery for that either a .357mag revolver/lever gun or .22 rifle/centerfire pistol would suffice I suppose. But you wouldn’t be limited to just 2 guns. Of course the optimum solution is to just live in the country right now, commute to work if you must, and practice growing a garden and raising chickens or whatever other animals you have room for. It doesn’t just happen it takes work and skills knowing what to do. Otherwise you’ll likely not make it past 12 months. Within 3-4 months all game and fish will be gone. You can’t live out of a backpack/off the land indefinitely.
