1.
It's just amazeing how many weak minded people believe all the crap they read on the internet, and that they hear from like minded people. If anyone of these people understood anything about how the goverment worked they might understand. Eventhough I did not vote for him, I don't understand how people think that Obama can do all this crazy sh*t that people put on the net. He can't just up and take everyone's firearms. He can't just up and band all these firearms. He can't do an yof these things that is all over the internet, just because he might want to. Have any of ya'll ever heard of Congress? or the Senate? For the President to pass a bill into law it must first pass Congress. I sick of hearing about how pissed off people are that other people voted four years ago for Obama because they wanted a change. Most of these people are die hard GM drivers. With out him , there would be no more GM. Now I'm not saying I know what is ahead for the country. But these weak minded people that hate whom is presidency and everyone that voted for him need to realize that you friends and coworkers did not elect the man. The president it elected by the electoral college, not the popular vote.............Rant over...............Let the hate mail begain
I'm not going to co-sign on your rant, but I understand how you feel. If you plan on hanging around here a while you had better get accustomed to the "Circle Jerk". The guys don't mean any harm, but they seem to like you a little more if you agree with everything that they say. The scarier the post, the better. A few tips to help you get by 1.Hate Obama 2. Hate liberals, Ron Paul and anyone that wants a third party 3.Love guns- best part of the site...lots of knowledge here 4. Make arguments based on popular opinion 5. Convince yourself that Americas best days were the 1950s ( I believe that we have a gr8 future) 6. Trust Fox news, Glen Beck and MSNBC Those basics should get you off to a good start. Have fun and welcome to the site.

 2. those stats are about what i expected to be honest except i would expect the rifle and shotgun category to have been much more effective than the chart shows as compared to handguns, but basically as far as common defensive rounds in pistols go (.38 to .45) they are all similar enough to just say "go with what you shoot best and feel most comfortable with", i would choose 9mm for higher capacity, faster follow up shots, and cheaper ammo for more practice with your gun but that's just personal preference

 8.
When I see "No Shipping to C&R FFL" I take my business elsewhere.
+1 on that. Sometimes it might be cheaper for me to actually send it to one of my local FFL dealers due to the different shipping method costs required, but if a dealer isn't going to even be rational about the C&R classification and be willing to work with a C&R holder, I'm not going to do business with that dealer. I see this quite a bit on GB, and I think it ultimately reduces the sales prices that these dealers could otherwise get just because it annoys C&R holders like me that aren't going to do business with them. Another type of dealer that I won't do business with are the ones that insist on receiving by snail mail, an originally signed copy of my C&R license or my FFL dealers license. I mean, come on, if your selling on the internet, you need to join the 21st century and learn that FAX and PDF file copies are acceptable forms of FFL license transmission.

I blame the people that are out shopping more. From an undisclosed location, I just heard of a traffic back up of about 2 miles to a walmart of shoppers for the 8pm sale. really do the people 1 or 2 miles back really believe they have a shot at getting the speical one time price?

 13.
Didn't out of control government spending really take off under Reagan as well?
It is one thing to spend more when there is more coming in; it is another to spend more when less is coming in. Reagan’s push for lower taxes certainly brought more in. Unlike Obama whose policies have not increased revenue to the treasury, but he wants to spend like it has. I cannot remember a Democrat and very few Republicans pushing for responsible spending. Reagan was certainly one of them, Newt was and how is he remembered? The problem is the Government does not know how to tighten its belt, it only knows how to spend uncontrollably and anybody that pushes getting that under control is labeled a freak. IE Ron Paul and Ross Perot. How many Democrats have submitted balanced budget proposals? The Republicans may not be a lot better about this but they are clearly better.

 18. I have purposely avoided this thread because every couple of months when the topic comes up it goes south. Those who carry a firearm are not a protected class of citizens and should never be. They should have the same rights afforded to them as those who carry a cell phone or wear a hat because just like those who carry a cell phone or wear a hat, carrying a firearm is a choice. I don't hear backlash about all the places that limit cell phone use. Using a cell phone, just like carrying a gun, is just a choice. There is a HUGE difference between choosing to do something and being born or having an accident that forces you to become something you cannot change. There is a difference. Let me start by saying the property owner should have the choice in what he does with his property, who is on it and how those on it act. No matter how much we want to force our own will upon others it should never be allowed to happen. This should apply to employers as well because they should be allowed to dictate who are employees and how those employees act. Carrying a firearm on private property is not guaranteed by any ammendment of the Constitution. Just as no other ammendment of the Constitution is guaranteed on private property. This has ZERO to do with the Constitution because the Constitution does not apply to private entities, only to the government in order to prevent their abuses. The property owner can dictate what conditions must be meet in order to be on his property, be it no firearms or a full auto machine gun. You also have no right to be free of unreasonable search. Employees are drug tested, which is a search, as a condition of employment and whether or not you carry a firearm on the company property can be a condition of employment. When we start forcing one group of property owners to do something with their private property they don't want to it will not be long before that makes it over into our property rights. I also believe this should be part of the law and I wrote everyone in Nashville about it. First and foremost hold those actually breaking the law responsible and if a jury finds that a firearm could have prevented the damages then the criminal is the first line of who is to pay restitution. If the criminal is unable to make restitution then the remainder will fall on the property owner who refused to allow you to protect yourself. But only on his property as he has no control on what goes on outside of his property. I also would like to also see in the law that the employer cannot be sued for firing an employee for violating company policy regarding firearms. I think people are going to get fired if this law does pass and this will prevent all the costs and burdens on the court system. Employees have a choice, just like a company rule that says a tie must be worn or they must pass a drug test. You either choose to follow the company rules or be fired. If you do not agree with the rules set by the property owner or your employer then do not enter their property. If that means you have to find another job then so be it. Everyone here is very opinionated about this, well put your money where your mouth is and quit your job. Problem is people are not strong enough to do anything about it in real life. If enough of the employees walk out maybe the business owner will change his stance. I know I walked away from a job because of my convictions, several as a matter of fact, and it has always worked out better for me. I wish we could all carry whenever and wherever we want but the fact of the matter is we can't and never will be able to do so. Dolomite

 19. If you've ever looked at the properties of an email you've received in a client like Outlook, you'll see that the email has passed through several servers on its' way from the sender to you. Any one of them could potentially capture your message and store it. It's also not unthinkable that Big Brother could at some time require all emails to pass through one of their servers, and they can capture and store it themselves.

 21. Might I suggest to the OP; what kind (quality, size, etc) depends on a lot of factors. I didn't buy the most expensive safe out there because when I looked at the variables I didn't think I needed one. Those variables included but were not limited to...

Overall cost
That my local FD station is less than 4 minutes response time away (don't ask me how I know this).
I have a pretty good multi-layered monitored security system, including fire monitoring and a four-legged hall monitor...no one is going to get into my house without tripping the alarm (and the alarm has multiple ways to send out a signal to the monitoring company) and the police here seem to respond pretty quickly (again, don't ask how I know this).
We also have a pretty good Neighborhood Watch group here and I actually know some of my neighbors!
25. The bonuses make sense....about 15 years ago I was part (a small part) of shutting down the Singer Furniture Company (yes, that Singer; part of Singer Sewing Company)...it takes a lot of time and work and you absolutely want people who know what's going on to be there as long as possible (which isn't easy given that people know they are working themselves out of a job). If you don't have those people to see that things are done right the only people you'll really end up screwing is the people that Hostess stills owes money too because done the wrong way, buildings and equipment (not so much intellectual property) can become worthless junk. Sad time for those employees now out of work but they brought it on themselves, either directly or indirectly.

 33. Of course I will admit that I would like to sell you a safe over Dicks or TSC but if not I will let you know the biggest difference over the two locks your are talking about. The lock on the Cannon is a basic electronic lock that is fairly dependable, We do alot of the service work for Cannon and they stand behind the lock for a certain amount of time and will send us out to repair or replace a defective lock, matter of fact just replaced one last week for a customer. The mechanical lock on the Stack on is a lower quality mechanical lock and not the same quality as the Cannon. Security wise the Cannon is the better safe and if the Cannon was the same price that would be my choice. Hope this helps with your decision. TSH

 34.
No one knows a slave.
Would that were a true statement. In my tenure in Mexico (only a few years ago) I met many that would by all accounts be termed slaves, serfs to the land and Masters that held complete thrall over them and their generations. Because the average American does not know any slaves does not mean there are none left in the world. Our State Constitution guarantees that each non criminal Citizen has the right to keep and bear arms for their defense, there are no restrictions as to location espoused by our founding documents. Our Supreme Court has ruled: "The right to keep arms, necessarily involves the right to purchase them, to keep them in a state of efficiency for use, and to purchase and provide ammunition suitable for such arms, and to keep them in repair. And clearly for this purpose, a man would have the right to carry them to and from his home, and no one could claim that the Legislature had the right to punish him for it, without violating this clause of the Constitution. Bearing arms for the common defense may well be held to be a political right, or for the protection and maintenance of such rights, intended to be guaranteed; but the right to keep them, with all that is implied fairly as an incident to this right, is a private individual right, guaranteed to the citizen, not the soldier." The "Government" in Tennessee is supposed to be the People, at least an extension of them. The Legislature (for good or ill) is charged in our Constitution with the power to "regulate the wearing of arms with a view to prevent crime". They have no power by the written word to control the keeping of them, that being an absolute Right guaranteed by Article 1 Section 26 of our Declaration of Rights. Shame on us that we have allowed Business interest to purchase our Legislature's duty and honor to keep our safety and pursuit of happiness at the forefront of their endeavor for silver, allowing it to stand. Those who are not parents can not understand the trepidation one who is feels for the safety of their children, and those who do not have grand children more especially can not begin to understand true fear at the ways of the world. Seeing that none but ourselves may be held accountable for the security and safety of each of us, the Government abdicating, as they have and must, the provision of protection, along with the Business owner who proves to care none for the life and safety of the general public when they garner sustenance from the fruits of having it either work at their places of business or show up to purchase goods there, require the individual to be solely responsible. It is the responsibility of those who are concerned to use their Constitutionally named responsibility under Article 1 Section 23 to "to instruct their representatives, and to apply to those invested with the powers of government for redress of grievances, or other proper purposes, by address or remonstrance." I find it my duty to push for this law, having two daughters that drive the roads in the 9th most dangerous municipality in the US, (Jackson, TN) with my grand babies in their car seats. Both are precluded the ability to have their legally owned weapons on hand in case they get stranded by a flat or car trouble of any type, simply because their employers fear them being able to keep the best tool for their protection locked in their personal property during their work hours. I refuse to give up this struggle.

 36.
Not everone else can. Not everyone has the same mental or physical ability to get work done. Many people find themselves at the mercy of an employer no matter how hard they work due to circumstances beyond their control. Some just dont have what it takes to compete in todays job market.I know plenty of people who have made hard choices and worked hard for 40+ years and still have to work retail in their twilight years because its all they can find. That's not discounting anyones hard work thats just stating facts.
I don't think anyone is equating work ethic with having a less than stellar job. Plenty of hard working folks make a career in fields that don't pay well, have crappy hours and require back breaking work. That is not to say they are lazy or stupid, that's just the path they chose. I come from a very blue collar family of not much means. It isn't because they were lazy, it is because the choices they made set the path for their life. They don't bitch or expect sympathy for the lifestyle they chose. The point is, folks like to attribute circumstance to all the good and bad in the world. That mentality IS lazy and is a cop out. You make your own choices. Rich or poor opportunity doesn't change that. If that choice is to work menial jobs your whole life, then great! That isn't shameful or lazy. But if you look to others with envy and blame circumstance for your station in life, then you most certainly never, ever improve your station.... not so long as you can shirk responsibility for your choices.

 37. The fist Thanksgiving was a celebration (November 1621) for the good harvest and, I would suggest, to thank God for his blessings and that is an example that I think is worth following. I don't know if there is a "war" on Thanksgiving but if you listen to any of the "mainstream" media, you'll come to believe that Thanksgiving is nothing but a celebration of white, European imperialism and narcissism.. It's become nothing more than the "starting line" for Christmas (excuse me, "holiday) shopping... I think that's pretty sad.

 39. What a total douche. I love how he appeals to the old some kid found their daddy's gun argument.
Gun-lovers love to think they are responsible. No matter how responsible they are, or think they are, there is a strong possibility that kids will find their guns. My grandfather (to be honest, I question his responsibility) left his gun in the trunk of his car. My cousins and I touched it as kids, and may have picked it up. I don’t know if it was loaded. Around five kids are injured or killed by handguns each day in the United States, according to the The Survivors Club. The children of parents you’d probably consider responsible, in one recent case of a police officer, find guns and hurt or kill themselves.
Well, that is it. I am convinced. We need to ban swimming pools. Swimming pools serve no function in society outside of personal enjoyment, which is analogous to target practice. Since there are so many accidental drownings, we should ban them. After all, it is for the children. Ya know, I have never understood why so many people feel this incessant need to interfere in the lives of others. My advice to them would be to have a Coke, a smile, and shut the f*** up.

 40.
. There is a big difference between having to work a holiday because military service and having to work simply because you work for a greedy employer. And simply quitting and finding a new job also isn't as simple either.
I work holidays as a civilian now. I don't bitch about it because I chose this job, not the other way around. Yes, it is a choice. If YOU choose to work for a "greedy employer", that is YOUR choice. If you don't like it, find another job. It is not your greedy employer's fault that you came to work for him and then decided that you don't want to put up with their policies. The inconveniences I face in my profession are mine to own. I will never understand why people pin the blame for the negative outcomes of their own choices on others.

 44. I have to honestly say that I don't see what the big deal is about a deep fried turkey. I've had them and they weren't all that, as far as I am concerned. Certainly not worth the hassle, to me. I'll take a turkey (or turkey breast) brined and then slow smoked on my smoker over a deep fried one any day of the week and twice on Sunday. For that matter, if only for the difference in hassle, etc. I'd just cook it in the oven before I'd fool with deep frying it. However, that isn't what you asked so I will try to help with your actual question as well as I can... Were it me, I'd go outdoor fryer all the way. I have a good sized, propane fueled fryer that I use when I want to fry a large batch of fish and chips, etc. If nothing else, frying in such volume indoors can leave a 'fast food restaurant' kind of smell in your house - and although that might sound pleasant for a short time, trust me - it gets old quick (and can take days to go away.) Also, heating up that much oil inside your home has a potential for being messy and possibly even dangerous. Personally, the thought of having a grease fire burn a small part of my front lawn sounds a lot better, to me, than having a grease fire indoors. Cleaning up a big pot of oil outdoors always seems a lot easier to me, too. Finally, were I going to deep fry a turkey I think that just about the only thing that would make the whole ordeal remotely worthwhile would be the ability to sit outside with a beer while I watched it cook. I'd go with an outdoor unit.
