Its time to arm our armed forces!

  There is a difference between conducting war and conducting politics.  You may think you don't want rough men on the front lines doing whatever it takes to keep our country safe, but I assure you that you do.  What is truly criminal isn't that a man like Col. West would take an enemy combatant and scare him into providing valuable information that saves the lives of coalition men and women.  Valiant, honorable soldiers have done far worse than making a hadji soil his pants.  This nation was founded by men who knew how to get #### done and who did worse than that in combat.   What is truly criminal is that the media has ever been allowed to expose the dirty truth that war is Hell to a week-kneed, hand wringing public who dares to armchair quarterback what soldiers do to preserve their lives, the lives of their brothers in arm, and the lives of us back home, against an enemy who uses children to conduct suicide bombing missions, rapes women, saws the heads off of anyone who doesn't believe in their god, and throws men from rooftops to their deaths because "they might be gay".  The only effective answer to violence conducted by evil men, is violence conducted by good men.   Further, the United States did not ratify ALL the parts of the Geneva Convention and opted to reserve the right to things like capital punishment.   So yeah, I support the #### out of Col. West because he seems like a man who knows how to get #### done.   :usa:

When are people gonna finally give up on their PC hopes and dreams and finally admit that Islam has declared war on the rest of the world? I keep remembering the videos of so-called "peaceful muslims" dancing in the streets and celebrating after 9/11.  :censored: I'm just too pissed right now. I better shut up.

This is terrible... It pisses me off to no end that our military installations are unarmed. Maybe it wouldn't have mattered in an ambush situation but just the fact that they are unarmed makes them an attractive target...   Apparently we (our wonderful political leadership) will never learn... Actually, they probably know and don't care since they aren't in the line of fire.   Mark

IF ONLY, this would wake people up. If only this would open people's eyes to who our enemy is then maybe, just maybe these Marines would have lost their lives for SOMETHING. As it is, no one will see squat. These men died for nothing. What shameful waste. Meanwhile, the news anchor just said "no word on whether the weapons were obtained legally yet" Who gives a !!!!!!!!

I went to Buds today and found a Mosin my son wanted. Decent price, nothing to write home about though. Took it up front to do paperwork and pay. Oops, TICS was closed down. I decided to wait around and see if they decided to come back to life. While I was waiting I couldn't help overhearing several other would be purchasers. They were completely convinced that it was the beginning of Jade Helm! They were so convinced in their arguments, that I had to drive by Walmart to make sure there weren't any detention camps set up. Thankfully all was well. If I had only thought to put a roll of tin foil in the car today, I could have made enough cash to pay for my sons gun with hat sales.

My hat's off to the officer or officers who helped arrange this clown's meeting with Allah. :cheers:

We're going to hear and read everything about this murderer that the media can shake loose of the nearest bubba. Then we're going to read or hear leaked insider information that might or might not be factual. And then at the end of a lengthy investigation we'll be told what happened with a lot of unknowns thrown into the mix. Anything we speculate about here is just that..speculation.

A few quick thoughts...   1)  Much like how gun owners don't like to be held accountable for the lawless among us with negative attention and reactionary laws, so is it for the Muslims in the US.  There are ones that didn't kill anybody today because they were too busy working, paying taxes, obeying the law and participating in our Democracy just like everybody else.   I'm not going to let the actions of this guy change that.  If they're silent, it's because they are laying low, knowing the eyes of mistrust are on them yet again.  While I'm sure there is some radical ones among the flock, I'm not going to let fear turn me against a community.   2)  Per his alleged yearbook quote...sounds about right, and worth mentioning we don't know the context he wrote it in.  The fact remains that his time going through security at the airport had to have been different than yours by virtue of nothing more than his name to bring it about.  I'm sure it had something to do with his radicalization taking root, and it's worth the conversation about if we're creating enemies with the policies we're using to fight them.   3)  As to any ISIS connection, all the social media postings will be analyzed, but I doubt he was "controlled" by ISIS in the sense of they recruited, trained, and tasked him to go do what he did.  Most likely is that he reached out to them via Twitter with his intentions, and they simply said something to the equivalent of "go for it, dude."   4)  Worth monitoring is what knee-jerk reaction may come with guns, ammo, supplies.  For what it's worth, Primary Arms had a sale start today, Gen 2 PMAG's on sale for $9.99.  Fortuitous timing in retrospect.

Well I'm pretty sick of reading all the Gay bashing on Facebook too.  I've blocked several so called friends over it.    Personally, I'm to the point that if anyone of any faith or religion is overly zealous in their beliefs, I find them suspicious.

I've seen an awful lot of radical Christians on Facebook, since the same sex marriage ruling.  Muslims haven't cornered the market yet.

The Devils greatest achievement is convincing the world he doesn't exist. I wouldn't trade the lives of those four Marines for every muslim alive on earth.

  But most all radicals are Muslims.

Tip of the iceberg fellows, I'm sure more will talk up trying and get caught but some will find a way to act out and kill people. What I'm kind of hoping is one of these terrorist(s) try this where a bunch of folks are legally carrying concealed weapons. If said folks have a modicum of training and grit things would be interesting.  

I sincerely wish the news media's would refrain from reporting anything before the smoke even has a chance to clear. They never have it right but just in a rush to be the first to report. By arming, I mean allow concealed carry at work for those that want to.  Have a Ready Reaction Force armed and ready to respond to all entrances of a base, so as many as would be needed for that.  Select service members should be armed, such as recruiters and those that are in isolated locations such as the two areas we are discussing now.

Treating prisoners humanely is more about us than it is them.  It is natural to act out in anger and treat a prisoner aggressively.  It may even offer some short term tactical gain.  But, its cost to us is far higher than we're able to recognize at the time.  This is certainly part of the reasoning behind the prohibitions in the USMJ.   It's not until later - when you have to look in the mirror - when you can't get the demons out of your head - when you can't close your eyes without revisiting it that you'll realize the full magnanimity of the action.  They'll label you with PTSD - a "disorder" that is in fact a natural response to traumatic action.  They'll give you all kinds of drugs to help you forget - or at least not care as much that you can't forget.  None of the people around you will understand what you're going through.  They'll hope that you'll get better with time.  You'll hope that you can simply make it through one more day.   Lord knows that we've lost too many of our soldiers to this fight back here on US soil.  We don't understand post-traumatic stress, and as such do a woeful disservice to our troops by not getting them the resources they need. The military needs to do a better job, and all of our individual communities that "Support the Troops" need to do a better job, too.   Indeed, we sleep safely in our beds because there are others willing to stand in the breach and meet violence with violence.  But, if we're going to claim that we are better - we have to be better in action as opposed to just rhetoric.  The cost is simply too high to do otherwise.

  Yeah, the difference is, one is governed by rules, and it's participants are supposed to have a code of conduct, the other is politics.   I was in the Military Intelligence company assigned to the Brigade responsible for Mosul, Iraq in 2003.  I was involved in interrogations in a security role for a while because we didn't have any permanent facilities and all the MP's were assigned out in sector and unavailable for a while.  Basically, we had a small series of room on the logistics base set aside for our use, but it wasn't manned 24/7 until the latter part of the deployment.  Until then, we would get a call that a unit took a detainee, meet them there, the interrogators would do their thing, and we'd have the line unit return take the detainee to the division cage if it was determined he was a threat or he confessed, if it was determined he wasn't a threat, they just took him back to the point of capture.  I was in Iraq at the same time West was.  Different area sure, but we had our share of the threat in our AO just like he had his.  So, if I'm not talking about this subject from anything less than a background of direct experience.    What bugs me the most about what West did is that he was in a very important leadership position, and he didn't just ignore what happened, he sanctioned it.  Think of the example his junior officers, NCO's, and soldiers would infer with "the boss" saying we aren't playing by the rules.  With that experience, they would feel free to adjust their own behavioral standards accordingly there and in the future.    The problem with their methods is that the line units just don't know how to do interrogations, and they're not supposed to.  They go into it with punitive aims instead of interrogative ones and generally cock it up thinking they're going to be the ones to get the information from a guy.  The Army has an MOS for enlisted specialists and warrant officers to handle interrogations for a reason, it has to be done right.  It's also worth mentioning there are clear rules stating they are the only ones able to conduct interrogations, and all other personnel are limited to "tactical questioning" only.     Take the emotions of guys on the line who spend their time getting shot at.  When they question a detainee, they tend to think they are "dispensing justice" and what not, and it becomes a downhill snowball, getting worse, and worse real fast.  By West's own admission in his sworn statement, he and his men had custody of the detainee for approximately 25 minutes.  There were four guys who confessed to assaulting the detainee, and just imagine how much damage they can do in 25 minutes of beating a guy out of frustration.  West could claim he didn't let it get out of hand, but he let it get out of hand by letting it happen in the first place.  Restricting blows to the body isn't any guarantee of health when overzealous guys start swinging on someone they think is trying to kill them and their buddies.   Now, I'm not saying you treat them like a kid who needs to go to their room and think about what they did with three hots, a plush cot and all the creature comforts, but the process has to be controlled by people who know what they are doing when it comes to getting information from detainees.  At the unit level, if you have to beat a guy, you failed, or you just wanted to from the beginning.  This isn't an episode of 24. 

I will give that rousing jingoistic pablum the same answer I have always given the Nathan Jessups who spout off that nonsense. If you want to claim the role of "good guy" then you damn sure better act like the good guy. When you sacrifice morality in the name of expedience, you fight for nothing more than the joy of the kill. We can set aside the international laws if you want (even though the parts he violated were the parts we actually ratified, just sayin'), he still violated the UCMJ and federal law. In doing so he dishonored his uniform and country in the process. He was rightfully and justly drummed out of the service for his actions. I used to really like the guy until I read up on the circumstances of the end of his Army career. I have no beef with the man in his current role as a commentator and actually agree with him reasonably often. Still, he has no business being allowed to have access to any elected office. I'm not saying he is a bad guy. He found himself in a difficult situation and he made  a choice, a bad choice. It is because of his willingness to make the choice that he did that I cannot trust him to be in a position to make choices that can have far more of a damaging impact in so many unimaginable ways. I will say one thing, I absolutely agree that there is a difference between conducting war and conducting politics. Politics has a far greater capacity for wholesale destruction than any war has ever accomplished.

I wish there had been someone with a concealed carry permit in the parking lot at the recruiting center this morning.  They might have saved 4 Marine lives, by returning fire.

Ya know, today is another example that if the government wanted to make an attempt protect our republic from foreign born Muslim terrorists that are hell bent on killing us all and destroying our country and way of life, they could make progress by simply arming the military, here. So in my mind this is where that whole "well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state" deal comes in. Because if keeping the most advanced military the world has ever known armed all the time isn't necessary to the security of a free state then I guess we're on our own. Frankly anyone that uses this terrorist attack to promote gun control is providing comfort to our enemies and they should be hung swiftly. Prayers to the families

I don't mean this comment to be facetious or funny but should we be calling for removal of any Muslim related symbols or  flags that may offend us after this ? Is fair really fair ?

Call me crazy, but I see this coming out differently. With Obama's soft spot for Islamic terrorists and his recent lax deal with his Iranian homies, I don't see this event lasting very long in his media outlets in general. I don't think he wants to talk about the uncomfortable truth that Islamic extremists are not just overseas. I believe he would rather this whole thing be swept under the rug. To use it as a battle cry for more gun control would do the opposite. Just my 2 cents.

Let's not all Muslims are radical. Most are not. Nashville is home to the largest population of Kurds in the U.S. Don't think we have any problem with them.

He was outside in a car, never went inside... just peppered the place. Then went to the Reserve Center on Amnicola Highway and killed 4 Marines before being taken out by local law enforcement. Prayers for the families of the Marines that were killed, and the officer and others that were wounded. Sad day in Chattanooga.   That "Reserve Center" is located adjacent to the Riverwalk area, huge playgrounds, etc. right next to it. Just fortunate that no one else was hurt. KUDO'S to the CPD and Hamilton County Sheriff's Departments.

I fully agree! What these panty waists call torture I call good training. If we were truly operating within our enemy's rules there would of been heads littering the sands of Iraq. If making one of them uncomfortable for a bit saved one American life it was worth it. While I won't say I am proud of everything that was done there, I won't lose sleep over it either. No permanent injuries were sustained and they at least are still breathing. Now those that stepped over the line and murdered innocent civilians I will not defend, but taking someone to the slap shack is no comparison.
