  1. I haven't practiced in over two decades, and I don't want to. I know that there's a lot of confusing information put out there by both sides that's complicated by politicization thanks mostly to the left during Trump's last year in office. There are valid reasons for not getting the vaccine, and I wouldn't suggest otherwise. What annoys me is people posting information on this forum who's source is a so-called expert citing anecdotal cases as if they are derived by the scientific method. In the case of treating humans, the gold standard of the scientific method is the double-blind study. That means neither the administering party nor the recipient know whether they are getting a placebo or the real drug. Those studies take time, and unfortunately, the virus (the D variant), proves VERY contagious and seems to be killing younger people who aren't vaccinated because this was a disease killing old or disabled people. Unfortunately, anecdotal news reports of people falsely reporting COVID infections really invalidates CDC's mortality numbers. Any good physician weighs the risk versus the reward with EVERY patient before acting. Example: my disabled daughter did not get the vaccine because her neurologist did not know how it would affect her condition. Luckily, she survived her encounter with the D variant after a considerable stay in the hospital, but what if she hadn't? Not knowing the true mortality numbers complicates that decision. What we DO know is that the FDA has NEVER had a pool of vaccinated people this large with which to pull data. I would wager that the medicine cabinets of the people posting bull information on this forum are full of drugs who have had less of a test pool than the COVID vaccinations. The smaller test pools of the FDA explains why you get drugs that have been on the market for decades but then get pulled because serious issues come up. One example is Zantac. It's true that we do not have any long-term studies of these vaccines, but they were derived by proven scientific methods. My heart hurts for Phil Valentine and his family because he made a bad risk assessment when he decided not to take the vaccine. I don't want people on this forum doing the same damned thing because they were listening to some alleged expert spewing anecdotal information to the world to see how many people they can fool.

  2. I agree, we don't need to promote people vacationing here. The woo girl epidemic is crippling Lower Broadway in Nashville clogging up the road with all types of pedal taverns and tractors hauling obnoxious drunks who are having so much fun that they decide to move here, drive the housing prices sky high, and then complain about how we don't do things the way that they did them back in Connecticut. Tennessee is a horrible place. Hot in the summer, cold in the winter, with a very short spring and fall. The level of humidity is such that we have forgotten what it really means to truly dry off. We're infested with alligators, rattlesnakes, chiggers, ticks, and mosquitos that are difficult to distinguish from hummingbirds. Our roads are treacherous, curvy, and poorly maintained. All of the natives are hillbillies who will do their best to drive you back to wherever you came from. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

  3. They know. They've known all along. They're hiding the truth. Why? I could have accepted ignorance was at fault (I don't believe it, but, it would save some peoples lives). This is criminal. They KNOW it kills people, refuse to report it, and continue to push it. Harder every day! Go stick your head back in the sand if you want to. You can take the blue pill.

  5. Thanks for all of the input guys. I thought the region might be an issue. I wasn't really thinking about being a noob but I know that is an issue as well. I was well established on a forum when I was in GA... too bad I can't bring my cyber cred with me . As far as the price goes, I stand by it. I am aware that Academy is selling it for the same price but that's not with the $200 worth of add on's mine has. I do realize that only matters if someone actually wants/ digs those accessories, narrowing my audience even more. Again, thanks for the feedback. At least I know there are live people here .

  7. Simply put, the west end is pretty much a dead zone for buying and selling. There just ain't much activity here. What does get bought and sold is mostly plastic handguns. Maybe a little ammo or reloading supplies. Business is just slow here. Seems like every time somebody lists something I'm interested in, it plumb at the other end of the state.

  8. I hope you are asking in earnest and don't easily get offended. Academy has the shotgun for sale you are selling for the same price new. We are a cheap bunch here. We like a deal. I've found that if I keep marking my price down, most items will eventually sell. Being a new member makes some folk skeptical. Requiring a bill of sale runs some folks off. Your location is obviously a stumbling block for many. I hope these suggestions might help in some way without offending.

  10. I choose none of the above. Kinda like the vintage ones but that website reference is completely obnoxious, its text should not be bigger than the state’s nickname. The one we have now is fine. Since others have decided that is no longer good enough I’ll take whatever they issue. It’s only a license plate.

  11. The blue ones feel like a political campaign sign. Maybe its me, seems very reminiscent of someone's '20 election sign, no? And a vote also reminding me I wouldn't pick any, and going with least worst option. I like the idea of the watermark, but in different colors. The blue one is kinda close to Montana's in some ways. I like the look of Wyoming's. Come one, its got a cowboy on it. Cant we have something cool. Like the volunteer dude with his AR musket? On the loose stylized state outline, I am not getting that choice. Not just because other states have them and are accurate. To me it sends the message that our education system doesnt include geography or we found this on a 5 year old's twitter. Maybe its the counter to the vacation advertising to be interprested as: Hey....you dont want to come here...too many uneducated hill peeps...and we even let them run DMV.

  12. I have been using the same doctor for going on 23 years and she has kept me alive and healthy so I trust her and when this crap showed up I went to her for advice on the Vaccine and the shots and I asked her if she was planning on getting the shot and she didn't hesitate when she said NO!!! so if she is not getting it neither am I and I said call me if you change your mind and I have not heard back from her on it.

  15. My personal doctors. All of whom said take the vaccine. I'm over 65 and have mild COPD. If my doctors recommend a booster, I will take it. My time frame would put it in late November. BTW: I had zero side effects.

  16. Gladly, it means if you have to use deadly force or the threat of deadly force, you can be sued civilly, but can ask the Civil Judge to order a stay till such time as the criminal case is adjudicated. If you are not convicted of a crime, the civil case goes away. think of Treyvon Martin. As it stood, if you could prove yourself innocent of a criminal charge, you could sue the other party to recoup your legal expenses. This is far superior.

  17. I don't know the exact demographics. I will leave it to the site admins to address that but the sites roots are in Middle TN and there certainly seems to be a bigger contingent here from the Middle and Eastern parts of the state than the west. That said there are a couple things that are probably slowing response; 1) Seller - You are a new member with limited few posts and no feedback. Not anything specific against you but some established members are slow to deal with new members. 2) Item - Kel-tec shotguns are less than desirable to many. A fair number of folks, including myself, have had negative experiences with their offerings. 3) Location - Atoka is a bit "up the road" even for the Memphis/Bartlett/Cordova based folks. When I was still in Millington we considered Atoka "out in the sticks". Not that Millington was any great metropolis mind you. Welcome, Good luck with your posting and don't let this first one discourage you from the site.

  20. Hey all, My normal EDC is a Glock 34 with some light custom work on it. It works well with my body type and with a Tier 1 Concealed AIWB and all of the appropriate wings and wedges. I also carry a spare mag in a Blade-Tec OWB behind the left hip. If I am wearing shorts and a more fitting t-shirt I may go to a S&W M&P 2.0 Compact or a G19. These fit my lifestyle and the G34 is carried religiously everyday. Thanks for the good topic. I like to see what everyone likes to tote.

  21. I’ve killed a bunch with a Ruger 22/45 over the years. Two different setups. Historically I enjoyed hunting with a set of crimson trace grips zeroed at 25 meters. That’s fun as long as the sun isn’t too bright. My preferred setup is with a RMR up top. Suppressed, it’s not even that critical that you hit it the first time. It’s a great skill to develop that will feed you in a survival situation. There’s a reason that my 22/45 is always in my ruck. Tossing a golf ball out a ways and shooting it on the move is great for developing the skill.

  23. I was just taking a break at work and stopped in to check the used guns at a gun store in town. In all those polymer guns for sale I saw a huge chunk of aluminum and stainless steel. It was a Ruger P89 made in 1991 , the year I graduated school LOL . Looks to have had around less than 1,000 rds through it . Hardly any wear on the barrel or anywhere. It's the very early P89 with the single-sided decocker. The best thing is that is that I paid $199. If you know Ruger P-Series pistols , these things are like old AK-47's of the pistol world. They just run and run. A lot of reloaders use them to test hot rounds since they can stand a lot of pressure. My wife wasn't too happy when she saw a charge on the bank card for $199 LOL but I couldn't pass it up . Just thought I'd share. Have a great day.

  29. Great source of information. Currently I recommend a 50/200 yard zero to my students and folks that ask my humble opinion. Although, I am starting to sway to a 100 yard zero recommendation. As a little back ground on how I have come up with what I teach. I ran a 25/300M zero for a large percentage of my time in the military (24 Yrs). I switched over to a 50/200 zero while I was in Special Forces and have been running it still, now that I am retired from the Army and training folks. About 4 months ago, in addition to running classes, I started developing, vetting and running twice a week, what I am calling The American Rifleman - Battle Standards. I started out with a 50/200 zero and it worked well, but have changed over to a 100 yard zero and my overall groupings have improved at the various distances run in the Standards (100 Yards to 10 Yards). I am also taking into considerations the distances encountered as a Armed Citizen and being able to articulate engagement of a threat at distances. I have been working hard to "put the work in", so my conclusions come from my experiencial base. That being said, in our Indermediate Distance Rifle/Carbine course, we shoot out to 200 yards. I talk about all the various popular zeroing distances and what the max ord is, in theory, for them, then we go out and shoot the distances to see. I have found that all rifles have their own personalities and will be different from what may be on paper. Also, that is not talking about marrage of bullet weight/barrel twist combinations and a few other factors, that I will save for a different post. Anyway, sorry for the long post, but I saw this thread and it interested me. I wanted to be more involved with TGO, so this is where I chose to jump in. If there is interest in our Battle Standards, just let me know. I would be more than happy to share them. Thanks for reading. Shane

  34. sub·jec·tive (səb-jĕk′tĭv) adj. 1. a. Dependent on or taking place in a person's mind rather than the external world: "The sensation of pain is a highly subjective experience that varies by culture as well as by individual temperament and situation" (John Hoberman). b. Based on a given person's experience, understanding, and feelings; personal or individual: admitted he was making a highly subjective judgment. 2. Psychology Not caused by external stimuli. Huh. So, direct video evidence you consider "subjective"? Got it!

  36. I've had nothing but good, positive experiences with the VA. One thing I find is that their doctors are generally younger, fresh out of school and getting clinical experience before moving on to a more lucrative career. There may be some negatives in that, but the big benefit is that they've been more recently exposed to the newest information. I never hesitate to use VA medical services.

  38. It's been around for a long time for treatment of some human diseases but wasn't declared unsafe until it was recognized as a good treatment for Covid. How could they force the jab on everyone and allow a tried and true treatment to exist. According to my doctor, up until a month or so ago every pharmacy carried and filled prescriptions for it. Ivermectin proved to be even more of a ‘Wonder drug’ in human health, improving the nutrition, general health and wellbeing of billions of people worldwide ever since it was first used to treat Onchocerciasis in humans in 1988. It proved ideal in many ways, being highly effective and broad-spectrum, safe, well tolerated and could be easily administered (a single, annual oral dose). It is used to treat a variety of internal nematode infections, including Onchocerciasis, Strongyloidiasis, Ascariasis, cutaneous larva migrans, filariases, Gnathostomiasis and Trichuriasis, as well as for oral treatment of ectoparasitic infections, such as Pediculosis (lice infestation) and scabies (mite infestation).14) Ivermectin is the essential mainstay of two global disease elimination campaigns that should soon rid the world of two of its most disfiguring and devastating diseases, Onchocerciasis and Lymphatic filariasis, which blight the lives of billions of the poor and disadvantaged throughout the tropics. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3043740/

  40. So your saying they just make chit up as they go along? Imagine that. So far, we've been told to stay home for two weeks to flatten the curve, social distance, wear a mask, wear two masks, take a shot, take two shots, and a third shot. Who can say we are any better off regarding Covid than we were a year and a half ago? Who is now willing to hop on one foot and rub their belly if told to do so?

  41. The problem with shops around where I am is they don't want to do complete cars. They make their fast money on bang up collision jobs and out the door. The 2 main sorts of completes is a tape & paper everything complete and a restoration complete that requires about all the removable body parts like headlights & tail, Handles and molding removed and reassembled along with inner door jambs. Those restore jobs allow a better paint adhesion all along the accessories since you can sand the full panel instead of "trying" to sand up to the edge of something and time is the only way to sand close and tight to removables without removing. Trying to find a GOOD tape & paper complete is like trying to find a good gunsmith. One of these years when I get a new garage built, I'll set up a booth in it to play at it once again. Good Luck. For what its worth a Car show guy told me Chan's will do nice completes here in Crossville. I didn't do any more checking with that shop. Scarlets & Baislies are not into completes at all.

  42. There was plenty of substance in your first post even though they were twitter quotes. They were spot on & there were no mean tweets... Escalating prices in beef, pork & poultry are significant unless you're a vegetarian. Rent, medical, care, gasoline, costs for new homes going up, up,up. Gas is over $1.00 a gallon from 8 months ago, I bet that alone costs the average family $100.00 extra per month. Things are gonna get rough for some.

  43. That anxiety you feel when you pull the trigger on a $2500 rifle. Well...... 100 yards after 20 rounds. Changed the scope to an HD5 3x15 and ran it at 500, 600, 1000, and 1250. This is 1250 on a human silhouette. I've got about 70 rounds down range so I'm still learning the gun, but I'm not unhappy so far.

  45. I have, and occasionally still do carry on a couple of different locales. The reality is that you’re going to just have to figure out what works for you by trial and error. No way around it. I’ve got a gut, but primarily carry AIWB with a sidecar. Pistol at 12/12:30. There is a comfort penalty, but that’s where I prefer it. It doesn’t work for everyone. I have carried at 3:30/4 o’clock. Anything further back, while generally concealing ok, just feels too far back to get to quickly and efficiently. A quality holster and a quality, dedicated gunbelt are a necessity if you wish to carry well. Without those two items, be prepared for a long struggle until you eventually drop the coin you needed to drop in the first place.
